Going through the details and history of Logan Paul's sealed case of 1st Edition Base Set Pokemon cards and why I think there is a good chance it is resealed, repacked and/or fake.

In a hobby filled with little kids and the guy who they are defending being one of the biggest kid content creators you should have expected the backlash from 13 yr olds lol. This guy def put in the research and did a great job regardless.
All the negative comments/tweets probably deleted and never even apologized
This man deserves a medal for his detective work. He brought all this to light 2 weeks ago and people were doubting him. Much respect my dude ✊
Ironically he’s wearing team rocket gear.

When a UA-camr can verify the authenticity of something just by looking at a picture of it better than a renowned card authentication business can who has it in there hands.. that’s a problem. Amazing work!
Maybe NOT having it in ones hands prevents the opportunity of conviction via (pictures online vs real life) ONLY seeing it in 2D.
maybe because those card authenticators only care about money and not the cards
OMG YOU CALLED IT!! Nice job! I hope this helps your channel explode! Best wishes!
The fact that he didn't want to meet and let the person open the case is the biggest red flag of them all.
well could be safety reasons
ppl get robbed and even killed
@@qwertyuiop3656 if someone’s willing to spend millions with you I HIGHLY doubt they’re gonna rob you lmao. Either way there’s all types of protections you could put in place. If you’re spending that type of money it’s not like you’re just gonna meet in a random parking lot somewhere.
@@xinniethep00h I agree with you on protections like meeting at a bank or something, but to the other point, people pretend they have lots of money to gain trust so they can rob them. It's quite common on these sites
@@xinniethep00h they dont need to rob you when you're willing to hand over 3.5m without research lol basically just did rob him without the violence. much easier this way
I'm not even interested in Pokémon, but damn does Rattle deserve more subs than he currently has. Rattle is a common sense genius. Which in today's world isn't that common.
It's rare
my dad used to say that. common sense aint that common ! 😂
You're a legend. Great detective work. Thorough and objective reporting! Doing the LORD'S work!
Been watching through this and your other videos related to Logan's box. Amazing research! All the pictures and receipts, right there. Great job, Rattle!
Its funny how they act like "this is the first Pokémon item ever wrapped" is a good thing. Everything they said screamed "we've never seen a case. We have no idea what its supposed to look like. We have no idea what we are doing!"
I feel bad, out there is some poor kid thinking he got 6 G.I. Joe boxes but they had pokemon cards inside :(
Definitely a lot of sus in all of this. I'd trust a sagely old man in an old house selling that box before I trust an eBay seller on an item of that magnitude
Yea and if you see his latest video it looks even more sketchy!
welp it was fake. 100%..box full of g.i joe cards.

Found your channel through this investigation. Not a collector myself but you rocked it with reasonable analysis and excellent follow-up sleuthing. Cheers on the vindication
Holy crap you were right. What does this say about all of these Pokemon "experts"?
The company that did it was a joke he paid for that...the Pokebeach community couldve told him beforehand it was fake.
BBCE lost all their credibility in a matter of seconds lmao
Honestly 6 boxes of gi joe for 3.5 mil is a steal. Was a happy ending after all lol
It’s worth more?
@@elsocio. lol no it’s not worth anywhere what first edition Pokémon’s cards would have been. He was joking 🙃
The whole thing was faked from the beginning for likes/views/publicity.
That eBay listing was so sketchy; so many red flags. Good call that it was a fraud, well done!
this guy deserves more subs......he spoke up when no one else did.
Just watching this series, really good and detailed! Well done
Fucking legend !!! This story will be told from generation to generations to come . Pokemon Legends of Rattle
Just found this video, I’m so glad you stood up for what your instincts were saying. Glad people are giving you props on the comment section.
Moving forward as a newbie here I’ll be checking into your videos before buying anything off the secondary market.
If youre a Pokémon investor with 6 boxes would you really sell the case and remove all of your exposure or would you slowly sell off the boxes?
I'd be opening at least the case at the time of purchase. Opening one of the boxes would also add more credibility to the others.
Right well said why not keep 2 or even 1 .
You should open your own verification service.
You nailed this, even your follow-up videos are perfect
It’s incredible the amount of twists and turns there are and I have the advantage of finding all this out and knowing the results first. I have no idea how you pieced all this together while others were actively trying to scrub the info
I owned 3 original 1st ed boxes years ago. Never owned a case. I've also sold high-end cards previously on ebay. A few comments... we have seen restocking fees on ebay -- some sellers were still allowed to charge it, and other sellers have questioned ebay customer service how that happens. But, it's never a low-volume seller like that one. Also, while I agree that most sellers would prefer to have the cards picked up directly, there was actually a discussion on the community boards about whether that was wise. There was an incident where the person picked up, but without a third-party carrier to make the delivery, there was no proof the item was handed directly to the actual buyer. I think there may be a QR code now that can be scanned at the point of exchange, but I don't know for sure if that is in place and if it works. Just wanted to help with that info.
That was insightful, thank you. I haven't seen restocking ever.
This seller never wanted to sell on eBay. It was a 15 feedback account with psapikachu bidding against 1-3 feedback shill bids.
That’s why if your pick up always get buyer/seller to leave feedback
This then confirms eBay and any case would be in favour immediately
Although I am not into Pokémon and just wanted to see how Logan Paul got scammed. Even though I have not watched any of your other videos I can tell your an awesome content creator and the Pokémon community is lucky to have someone like you. You’re detective skills were on point. You’re so underrated! You’ve earned a sub from me and wish you the best with your channel!
You sir, are a genius. Props on calling it
I met the guy who sold this Pokemon first edition box to the guy who sold it to Logan Paul at the Collect-A-Con in Dallas. He sold a first edition Charizard to SashaT the sports card collector. The guy gave me bad vibes when I met him like something was just not right about him... I really hope Logan figures this all out! Btw I would reach out to SashaT he might be able to help bring more clarity to this seeing as he did business with them as well. Good luck!
Amazing work your work is appreciated!!
Thank you!
I feel that there is an influx of fake boxes introduced into the Pokemon ecosystem due to the money that can be made.
To me it's very sad.
I loved Pokemon as a kid. I'm 28 years old.
I can't find my old Pokemon cards that I collected for a very long time as a child.
I would like to try to mimic my old collection.
Unfortunately it would cost tens of thousands of dollars to do that.
Greed is a terrible thing.
Tells me that no one did any digging on verifying this box was legit but just purchased because they had the money to do so even if it meant losing. Good work dude!

Dude solved this scam at home doing research when these big shot authenticator's didn't have a clue what they were doing Kudos to Rattle Pokemon
Coffee Zilla would be proud.... love your vids man this has to take a lot of work digging up the seedy underworld of Pokémon...but someone has to do it.... but I thought the opened it and authenticated the box the wrapped it..... so technically not sealed sealed.... but basically like VGA “qualified” where it was sealed but they opted it to authenticate it.....
They didn't open it. Just judged from the outside and probably weighed it.
Very impressive work. May I ask how you got the screenshots of original ebay seller's messages to the potential buyers (16:15 into video)?
Great work mate and well put together video . I am not an expert in this field but bearing in mind anyone with the means to buy this case in the first place must have some knowledge in the Pokemon field. How did so many people sell this on and even buy this in the first place given all the red flags which are jumping out at you. It's ridiculous, straight up fraud. Furthermore, how did a TC company verify this with their stamp of approval. If they actually did their job and looked into this like you have done they would clearly see how this a scam. How does an old cardboard box even = certified pokemon first edition content inside also? crazy.
Is it 100% fact that bbce did not open the case, see the boxes with their own eyes, then re-wrap the box as Authenticated? Thats what most people, including myself, I believe thought happened. But if they didn’t open it and just wrapped over the “stop” wrap, then yeah that doesn’t say a whole lot.
Not sure where that rumor started but no, they didn't open it at any point.

I love these informative videos. It's wild that that baseball card company seemingly didn't try to track the box's origins at all? Like, maybe I'm an idiot, but I thought the big fuck-off ID numbers on the box were supposed to convey information.
Props to you for finding all of this! 👏
That first email with no punctuation was the biggest red flag of all.
Some very good detective work and worth every view. 👏 👏 👏

Good call! Your channel deserves to blow up after this!
Nobody should have bought it without the original person opening it.
I noticed Logan said the back box felt light, they could have just weighed it'd compared to the expected weight

Has anyone considered that this box could be one of those infamous changed 1st ed packaging -- the ones with the black triangle 🔺️ over-stamp? If this was one of the factories that still had 1st ed artwork on boxes and/or packs, and needed to alter it when changing over to unlimited, they may have labeled the box differently. Of course, the cards, themselves, would not be 1st eds then, but at least those black triangle packs are so rare.
Then, there's the unlikely but possible situation that given there were multiple factories, no one knows if the other factory may have labeled their boxes slightly differently. I used to write articles about pokemon back then, and WotC told me there were multiple factories to handle the volume, and that artwork on everything from packs and boxes to the actual cards was not always in sync, and that changes made at one place were not always implemented simultaneously elsewhere.
Of course, it could just be unlimited or a total scam, but people didn't believe there were real prototype cards until recently when a former WotC employee confirmed it.
Total scam
@@PeskyTap- yes, but all possibilities must be considered. Until proven, it's all circumstantial, and that can put the wrong person in jail -- you would not want to be convicted on that. I was commenting only about the box since I have some info about that. As to the rest of the evidence...it was indeed extremely incriminating.
Note that RP didn't want to say anything absolute bc there was still the possibility that there could be another logical explanation.
Not sure if you saw the update video but Pokémon cards were not inside the boxes 😂
Another great insight into the shambles of what Pokemon has to offer 😂🙈 interesting though! Want to find out if Logan rips it now 👀

If it was at an estate sale I'm pretty sure for tax purposes you have to list the items being sold and their estimated values... I doubt this box would've been laying under a table with a bunch of other Pokemon cards not to mention the family didn't open it to make sure it wasn't something important of his they might wanna keep? Nah I don't believe this at all I wanna see an obituary for the dead grandson and a listing for the estate sale itself.
Unless it's one of the other three origin stories.
@@RattlePokemon Interesting point, however If I died, I doubt that the executor of my estate is going to care or understand the value of collectible cards I have, beyond sports cards, which they likely will think of as being valuable from stories they heard of their parents having their Mickey Mantle cards thrown out when they went to college.
They most likely would list them as a lot or take them to a TCG shop to sell, UNLESS i have printed instructions/valuation information that lets them know they are valuable. Most people that aren't in the hobby have any idea about these things. Now, if I have gold, silver, sterling silverware, or old baseball cards, they would likely recognize those have some value that should be investigated.
My parents had a large lot of my revised/unlimited MTG cards put loose in a shoebox, and fortunately, they weren't damaged. I did not even know they were still at their house, until I picked up they hobby again after college.
people don't idc what they say I know plenty of people who run estate sales and don't report whet they are selling. it's too hard to track items from estate sales rarely they don't report unless it's a big operation and they are a buisness most people just sell and take a percatage and don't report just like at antique shows I do them every month I might sell 2 grand at a show but I don't report what I sell.
Even though this story is fake, I know plenty of folks who have "estate sales" but they aren't really. It is just "buy my dead relative's stuff because I need to get rid of it"
Bro as i said, NOBODY makes content like you do. Your shit is FIRE!!! Im literally going to drop your name everywhere brother. I LOVE how you go deeeeep into scenarios. Keep doing the THING!!!
Thanks so much!
Easy sub, thank you for the content. Would be interesting to see it opened up and confirmed. If I were buying, I would rather pay a premium to have it opened up and authenticated by Leon, King Pokémon, Rev, or TCA tbh. Don’t think it would lose value if it were opened up and authenticated that way if it ended up being real.
Did you watch the follow up video? ua-cam.com/video/qWoVv8Ko1EA/v-deo.html
Definitely has to be opened.
Have you watched Logan’s video since he opened it? Lmao it’s full of gi joe cards 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Lmao so a 12 year old got a sealed case of 1st edition booster boxes for his birthday but doesnt open them 🤔😂

Best part 🤣🤣🤣
Dude I have a friend of mine who has a lot of sealed things because when he was a kid he didn't care at all... For example he has a copy of pokemon emerald sealed... Probably worth more than 1k now
Great Videos on this issue. I had to watch them all.
You had me 1000% convinced this was fake and sure enough it was. Well done for calling it. 👏
Epic! Congratulations man!
i'm not sure about now if he still has them but in 2001 when i was doing my work experience in my local video rental shop which also sold pokemon cards and MTG cards and there was a man who ordered two boxes of the team rocket cards and one he opened and one he kept unopened for his retirement ( as he put it )and he said he had done this for every pokemon card set and other things he thought that would go up in value ( that had so far been released ) I'm not sure about now because I never seen him again
Amazing call on the box being fake. You'd think as rich as logan is he'd have someone with even a little experience either be in his ear or even try to track down previous sellers. Great Video!
Baseball card exchange is the #1 authenticator of sealed boxes in the sports card world. I'm still with you on it likely being a repack scam, just giving context since you aren't familiar with them
dam so they #1 and still authenticated a fake case, sucks to see
@@1hp- yea they fkxd up
Given the history of the buyer, how likely is it that the buyer is the scammer? Somehow repackages with GI Joe cards and the BBCE gets blame and someone pays up.
Who made money on this in the end? The buyer acted really weird in the unboxing vid. I need to know more of the chronology but I would never trust that buyer with anything. And 3.5M is a lot to anyone.
If you are a top rated seller & accept returns you can choose to give a partial refund (or in theory charge a restocking fee) however, you can’t do that with a 15 feedback account
Imma sub to you just because you care so much for pokemon and the memories we all have.
So easy to pass when the seller can’t even write a description without butchering grammar and spelling. You can kinda tell what kind of person wrote this based on how the words are arranged.
Awesome stuff man. I really want Logan to open it now.
Would be nice to find out what's in there.
What you talking about my guys that’s the very first metazoo 1st edition ZARD 🤣🤣
Remember back in school when you didn't do your homework so you came up with a hugely detailed, ridiculous story to make it seem real? That's what the seller's first story seems like 😅
The additional unnecessary details are something else. Lol
@@RattlePokemon saw the second vid. Great work. You should make a TikTok, so many people using your work to go viral atm.

Poke tea time podcast also just did a video with the original buyer of the box with some solid info
The original buyer said that the guy had 3 cases and opened 1 on video that contained all shadowless boxes…
Also then they shipped all the cases to them via fedex. It makes 0 sense to not fly over there and pick them up.
wait so where did the box come from? the eBay seller? or the guy who had them in the attic lol?
@@RandomYGODude that’s all the same guy. The attic is the 3rd story among many stories
@@amphowto lol right well if 2 stories wasn't bad enough
Now I get why someone asked how I got my Aquapolis pack when I sold it.
I see the importance of the chain now.
At 7:24 it looks like some of the ink on the table got on to the label. Maybe the seller was trying to make it look older than it is? Or was very careless?
This video is great for any eBay transaction in general. I will tell you, in order to avoid any issues with sellers trying to scam, ALWAYS video record your package openings. It has saved me several times from sellers trying to claim they can't have an item returned or refunded.
eBay won't watch or use a recorded packing or opening in a dispute.
@@RattlePokemon im not sure about that ive won a dispute from ebay about a month ago and attached videos and pictures to prove that the airpods i got from eBay were fake. and i got my money back.
EDIT: also if that were true why would they even include a upload/attach files function on eBay disputes?
they use the photos, rattles saying they don’t got the time to watch videos. What was your dispute worth? If it’s a smallish value it’s not worth eBay’s time to argue it, they’ll just refund you.
He needs to take them out and get each box re-authenticated then seal it back up in a new case
Doesn't look like that's going to happen.
Great detective work Rattle!
Thanks!
I must have stepped into a alternate dimension where team rocket exposes poke-crime.

Not interested at all in Pokemon cards, the market or Logan somehow. Love your work Rattle. And I hope this brings light to people that ever have the slightest thought to do this kind of stuff

Spot on dude, a theory (not mine) on how they were able to make the box, stickers, and tape look aged the same is lightly mist entire box with water. Then put it in a food dehydrator for a day or something, that's why the plastic wrapping on the actual pokemon boxes was bubbled and color on the Pokemon box faded.
Oh yeah, I saw that guy's theory too, Callum upton.
His video sorta started me down this rabbit hole.
(What likely got one of these videos on my recommendations, since I'm not a trading card guy in any form.)

Came here after Logan pauls video. Great video and investigation work. 👍🏻 You called it!
5:10 TO ANYONE USING EBAY - THIS IS WRONG.
You CAN do this on eBay, and is common practice. eBay actually support it and side with the seller 99% of the time, as they should. Who's to say the buyer didn't open the purchase, claim it was a scam, then return it? Come on man. If you've sold anything in your life, which we all have, you should know that. I'm only making this point because you explicitly cautioned a warning to buyers that may come across this information. As far as restocking fees, you are correct there. EDIT: 17:10 Ok, so you clearly haven't ever sold on eBay. There's no such thing as a price-limit for smaller/newer accounts.... So don't talk like you know how it works...
You made a TON of great points. I don't want to downplay that and I'm not talking trash on the video at all. It was overall fantastic and I learned a lot from it. While I have years of experience collecting cards, I know next-to-nothing about Pokemon cards and even less about sealed cases. Thanks for doing this.
Great video mate!
“Are there GI Joe cards in there? we don’t know”
You called it!!! And you even were featured in the video!
"I wasnt going to make a video on this"
That sounds like some famous last words.
Rattle, as an Ebay seller I don't want to meet a buyer in person. There's nothing nefarious behind my reasons. In fact, my reasoning is the exact opposite of what your reasons are. One, I don't want anyone to meet in person and have something go wrong. Two, if I sell in person I have no proof of delivery. I once sold an item in person and a buyer opened a claim stating they never got it. Regardless of my pictures of the buyer's vehicle and license plate, nothing was sufficient and I lost my case because there was no tracking showing as delivered. So to counter your argument, I don't think most sellers want to meet in person. The only thing that might hold up nowadays is a notarized bill of sale but even that could be suspect with a fake ID... Just my opinion. Thanks for your videos.
They were taking the transaction off ebay regardless. For that much money, in person and in cash would be extremely nice.
@@RattlePokemon I understand it would be nice, but taking it off Ebay is against policies. If that sale went offline, it cost Ebay a couple thousand dollars at a 13% commission rate. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I use Ebay for protection. I get your points on the validity of the box and why someone would use Ebay to sell a super rare box. But other then me visiting a local police department and a notarized bill of sale, even that would leave me cause for concern even if cash is involved.
Out of all the theories no one predicted it was G.I. Joe cards in there lmao
Plot twist: The GI Joe packs are actually re-sealed and do truly contain the 1st edition Pokémon cards!
Hear you earned yourself a case of prime from this one 😆 good stuff man
