Looking back at the fake 1st edition base stamps that were added to shadowless Pokemon cards and authenticated by grading companies. The primary example in this video being the PSA graded Charizard that Fazool purchased.

@@TrEverEvoy yeah in a box. I personally like it opening my mini stash of graded cards of high value and being able to look at them and hold them with out fear of messing up a very valuable card. I once bought a Shining Magikarp 1st Edition on eBay and sent it to PSA. It came back as an 8 and when I looked at the card a little while later, I noticed something which I thought would be inking. Like when someone tries to cover up whitening on the card. But then I thought, that at that time inking was not really known to be a thing in Pokémon, it was a bigger issue in MtG. And also, if it was actually inking, they would have certainly caught it I thought. Now I'm not so sure anymore...

Everyone thinks "but but cool pokemon cards" it's just a job. Your card is another tiny piece of another paycheck.
I worked at a weed manufacturing facility and we got paid $23 an hour to weight it and shove it in bags. They were constantly underweight, overweight, stems, you name it because there was thousands of kg to get processed and it would be processed.

As a longtime MTG player/buyer/collector, have had a 30x loupe for a long time (along with a bright flashlight to see through cards). I only collect Zapdos and now Greninja Pokémon cards, but don't know enough about the 1st Ed stamp to even look for issues with my loupe. Glad you are making these videos, so people from other hobbies buying Pokémon can be informed. I will have to take a look at my 1st Ed Zapdos cards now... was picking them up a few years ago when they weren't too expensive, but you never know.
Edit: I should expand too... the reason for Zapdos is because I had a tourney winning Zapdos-Electrode deck when 1st edition was released. I stopped playing after Team Rocket. Of course, sold my whole 1st Ed + WotC Pokémon collection about 10 years ago...

Possible but you never see it. I've seen real but smudged ones. The position of the stamp is just a really bad sign to go with the fact that everything else is wrong about it. It also came from a seller who faked stamps on other cards.

It isn't smart to grade right now or buy graded cards.
At this point, they should change the labels post pandemic wave to show which cards actually had time and care spent on them.

Hey rattle, big fan, and thank you again for all you’ve done for the community. That being said, I’m hoping to get your opinion on another perspective I’ve encountered in much higher volume lately.
I’ve been an eBay seller since 2005, and have bought and sold off and on since. Lately, I’ve been reliably hit with “does not seem authentic “ forced returns involving anything trading card related. Suddenly the paranoia has hit extreme levels, and everyone is an expert, so far as to have had to deal with a difficult amount of selling consistency. Most of the items I sell I’ve collected since they were “worthless “ and now have value, most of which I’ve opened myself, or acquired while in standard etc. what do you think the future for people like me? Even PSA and many others are not enough, how can anyone know reality anymore? We can’t all be rattle, and certainly cannot have one on retainer at will.
If you’ve read this far, thank you so much!
    Big fan, regards.

PSA is garbage at grading cards, I saw a card with bad centering and whitening on the back getting a PSA 10 and I guess their reputation is just not there any more. Maybe they can't get along with all the submissions and just look at this cards for a few seconds to grade it. Very concerning

    • @maltena1560

True. I mean so many cards getting graded nowadays that it is impossible especially for companys like PSA to take their time with the cards. Even tho they do not have subgrades to make it a little transparent for the customer. You get what you get and that's it. But there is a company called AOG in Germany (you mentioned them in one of your videos) they use AI computer analyzing technology first on the cards and then confirm that grade in person. I don't know exactly how it's done but for me this is the future of grading cards. But anyway I like your content and the topics you discuss. Keep the good work up man!

Not sure how things work at PSA, but we keep track of every record our users touch at work. we can tell who did what and provide additional training as needed if problems arise.
