    Just got my first fish finder ever.. helix 7 msi. The example of being closer or further from the docks and the appearance of fish in this video is extremely educational in understanding how the SI works and how to use it as a tool. Thanks so much for the great lesson!

    Very good demonstration of side imaging and how your view range and distance from an object changes how it appears on the screen. I have never seen anyone show it this clearly! Makes me wonder what I have missed now!

    I have a HB 999ci SI, very similar to yours. You did an excellent job explaining how this works. I learned some stuff I didn't know! Might be old units, but as long as you learn what you got, they will last years! The new stuff is $$$$!

    • @ClearWaterCrappie
      @ClearWaterCrappie  5 років тому +1

      Scubaguy5 absolutely! Newer technology makes it easier, but if you learn to use what you have it will pay off. I’m glad you got something out of it! Thank you for watching!

    I really like the way you explain how to use your graph to find fish. I'm just getting started with side and down imaging, so your video really helps me to interpret what I am seeing. I bought a Hummingbird mega imaging unit last year. Before I had a lowrance elite ti. The autochart live feature in hummingbird is awesome...since then ive caught Sac a lait in brush piles, edges of creek channels, ditches,etc all thanks to si. Mapped most of my home lake which makes it so much easier to predict where they "Should" be throughout the year. Great video.

    Good demo of side imaging... I just got a Garman Striker plus, still trying to figure it out. Need to be out looking, but I think in TN River near where I40 crosses, the bedding is mostly done. I wish we had docks other than Marina's, there aren't any. Still learning, but I get a lot from all who show what they do on the water. Thanks for your video in the cold.....

    Nice, I do industrial non destructive testing with ultrasonics, Its all about how sound is bouncing off of objects and returning to your transducer. The further away the less definition.etc. I own the newer model humminbird Helix 10 Mega Chirp. Its very clear from a much further distance. The older models will still do the trick but the Mega blows it out of the water.

    Hi ...I loved your video. Learned a lot. But I am still having trouble seeing what you are looking at. Its my fault I know, I am getting old and don't see too well anymore, but could you use a pointer like a pencil or something to point to things on the screen? Also, you do a much better job than most with glare from the sun, but if you cut one side out of a cardboard box and put it around the sonar unit it might help. Thank you for your videos. Im sorry if this is too picky.

      2cmorettz thank you. You are not being too picky. That’s what makes my next videos better is input from people like you. Go see my dock shooting for crappie 101 and you can see the fish better because it is a newer graph. Than you a lot for watching!

      Michael Wilburn do not have to. Most updates you will not notice any difference after updating them. They do offer them for free though!

    Great video. Lots of constructive information, thank you I’m wanting to get a graph bad and doing my research. How bout your rod and reel setup? Really like the power and action.

    • @ClearWaterCrappie
      @ClearWaterCrappie  5 років тому +1

      Eyesofthasouth I use southern crappie rods. The one used in the video is a 7ft. I think the reel is an Abu Garcia cardinal reel. Anything that holds 4 and 6lb line with a smooth drag is great. Thank you for watching!

    Good video . I can’t figure why people making videos don’t keep the sonar shadowed so people can see rather than seeing the glare . Again . Good video except the glare

    Going crappie fishing tomorrow on Hartwell. Anyway you can point us in a direction to get some?

    • @ClearWaterCrappie
      @ClearWaterCrappie  5 років тому

      Matthew B crappie right now can be caught from one end of the lake to the other. Whichever main creek arm you put in closest to there will he fish there. They will be scattered because of the crazy inconsistent weather. Blow downs, docks, longlining and spider rigging are all working right now. Use side imaging to help you find them quicker! Thanks for watching.

    Posted sign on the dock: SC State Law, must be 50 feet from the dock.......lol

      Applies to only saltwater fishing piers. No such law for freshwater.

    • @DrGargani
      @DrGargani 3 роки тому +1

      @@ClearWaterCrappie then why was that sign there???? Not reprimanding you, as a fellow fisheman, I know all about harassment from dock owners and was wondering what the story was....

    • @ClearWaterCrappie
      @ClearWaterCrappie  3 роки тому +1

      DrGargani no clue, luckily everybody I have came in contact with have been really cool and no issues. If we got really technical about it in S.C. they can’t legally do anything to you getting onto their dock (which I would never do) UNLESS there is a no trespassing sign posted on the dock.
