man I hope to fucking god this fixes xivs servers not playing nice with NA ISPs sometimes cause goddamn is it annoying when you know its not your connection
Using the cloud architecture also allows for the use of edge locations, which are data centers that cache content and deliver it to users with low latency. Those are what allow people to connect to the servers with super low ping even if they're far away from the main cloud servers, allowing everyone to be on the same page in terms of ping since edge centers are located all around the world. Ideally, this mean East vs West coast players won't have a ping advantage difference. They facilitate a connection to the game world, but don't contain any critical data storage capacity making them flexible to get as well. All the critical data meant for storage is sent to the main cloud servers for storage, like character and progression data
On the topic of the engine, Dawntrail is prolly going to upgrade that, or just move right on to XVI's branch as XVI uses the same engine as XIV, just with PBR support among other things, XVI also seems to have an entry in its licenses section for "Vulkan Memory Allocator" which is a header only library that makes Vulkan memory allocation not a pain, so XIV could also be getting a Vulkan update with Dawntrail, and given how the game is decently old its prolly more CPU bound, Vulkan would be a huge performance boost but thats all a guess
That's really interesting to know about! Honestly yeah, FFXIV is like, SUPER CPU bound more than most games really. I would love for this to change at some point.

That's the hope!

They need get ques for all NA DC so many don't need to hop DC to do content.
Hoping that it comes soon! Glad that they've at least confirmed it coming

What song was used around 7:00?
It's the World Map 1 theme from Sonic Forces!
@@SonicridaThanks, I knew I'd heard the melody somewhere, I just couldn't remember where

I just don’t trust it all. Fix what’s broken first and then make a giant undata center. N.A. be like the red headed step child of ffxiv data centers.
