So glad to see you back Chris. Inspired and deep picks as always. Dyzan I've been meaning to tap into. What a cover, freakish and whimsical. Lovely Budd LP. I really dig that cover of Koffman's Jungle Man. Will have to dig that one up. Always love those Limelight selections. Hope to put one of these tags together. Take care my friend.

Thanks brother..you should tap into that dyzan an absolute killer imo.
The koffman is cheap and enjoyable imo but nothing super substantial..lol..do you have the budd a real beauty...ya kinda interesting what limelight green lit but those were different times and more chances were taken for sure.
Look forward to your response if it comes to fruition..😃..much love chris

Thanks for doing this Chris. Lovely video with some wonderful and rare choices; some I sampled as I went. The Budd continues to elude me. The Sound Of UFOs was a very intriguing listen. Quite subtle, yet diverse. I remember you showing the Ohno a few years back. It's one I look out for. I have a CD of Neighborhoods. It's one I really need to give myself time for. Such an interesting 'ambient' album.
The Pierre Henry and Harley Gaber are some intense listens. 'Snakes hissing around on the ground' sums the Gaber up. I find it really difficult to take this sort of thing on, unless I am in the zone. In which case, nothing else quite hits the spot.
Yes, I did enjoy it- and it wasn't too painful ;-)

Anytime brother..I feel like it was not my best video but a very fun thread and worth doing especially in support of a true brother and friend.
That budd is definitely a bit harder to come by now a days I have faith though it will find it's way to you eventually..his entire vibe to me is dream based..the sounds of UFOs is a cool lp as you heard not quite one would expect perhaps glad you liked it..😃
The ohno would be a no brainer for you imo..the reissue is still quite affordable..it is a stunty fave too(no surprise..😃)..
That hood is just a special record for me..it always sounds like the first time I heard it on every spin..
Agreed on the henry and gaber but when the mood is suitable both hit that spot..in fact spinning the henry right now been awhile..
Glad you enjoyed and appreciated the video brother..means alot..much love chris

Hey buddy-Great to see you again. Budd's 'Pavilion' I think is easily one of his very best albums, if not his actual best in my opinion. Funny since it came so early in his recording career. Love the BGM album this time around especially...
Nice to see this video even without having seen the original thread video... and the other albums here really seem to be up my alley , though i'm not familiar with any of them, except 'Neighborhoods' which I haven't yet heard but i've read a great deal about...

Hi Chris, very relaxed sounding that Mihiko Akao. I have 2010 reissue of that Dzyan, it took me several listenings to get into it. It even includes some cello along with all.

Heya brother Chris, Sweet response for Alan here. Figured there'd be some amazing stuff here. :-) Lovely, 'Illusions'. Of course our Harold. 'Sound of the UFOs is speaking my language I'd bet! Love the Space and MaryJane. Makes a nice companion to TD's 'Zeit' I feel.
Yes, on the universal feeling of 'Neighborhoods'. I didn't know you've had it that long, though not surprised.... ;-) Yes, the film strips and the music! I was pretty little at the time, though I remember them fondly. Getting old too, I guess...? :-D
That last one you showed (what's the artist/title again?) sounds mind-blowing in the right frame of mind. Happy to see this pop up. Peace n love. -Carm

Hey there brother..I know you always enjoy these videos your one of those people I continue to make them for..😃.
Budd of course is a long time fave of yours so preaching to the choir..😂.
The ohno is in fact a bit like zeit except I think zeit is a bit of deeper ambience..this has a little more on the surface but definitely comparable in some ways.
I am glad you got that film strip reference!..hood's music is sorta like aural equivalent of serling's best childhood stories from the twilight zone like kick the can et al imo.
Harley gaber is the artist and it is a heavy listen if your so inclined..😃.
      Much love chris

Fantastic response Chris! I'm actually spinning Kraan while I watched your video. What a coincidence. A lot here that I need to explore. The Sound of UFO's sounds pretty great. And I definitely want to check out Dzyan. And I still need Harold Budd in the collection. I'm hoping to get in on this thread too but am struggling with a few of the questions. I like how you handled that issue by showing multiple Dream albums. Great stuff!

Hey brother..well great minds you know..😃..alot here might appeal to you some of which you noted..like dyzan and the spoerri..don't forget the ohno lp..a heavy one!..noted your looking for the budd..would be fun if you did..lol well I could have done a whole video just off that question..😂..hope all is well with you and yours brother..much love chris

Hey Chris. I've never found a Budd record in the wild. Very hard to find around here. Electric Silence is a great album. Still hoping to one day add Time Machine to the collection. I'm intrigued by both the cover and your comments of Beauty's Song. Nice to see your response to this. Cheers, Jeff

Hey bro..interesting noted..not easy to find in these parts either..but I see his lp's every so often.
Indeed one of the best krautrock lp's imo..time machine is excellent as well..the samole is very nice you definitely might enjoy that..not terribly expensive but obscure..
Not sure if it is in yt too be honest.
Nice to hear from you too brother..much love chris

I completely forgot Minnie eating an ice cream on that one. Weird and wonderful obscure jazz etc. I would probably dig some of them though the idea of snakes on the ground or anywhere for that matter is a bit of a nightmare for me. I wanted to ask ages ago because my wife knitted me a hat like that but are you a Muslim, is it practical, or is that your preferred head gear wear? I have many hats for VC videos as my baldness tends to shine uncontrollably.

    • @johncoltrane68
      @johncoltrane68  2 роки тому

      The easiest choice for me..lol.
Thanks and I glad you enjoyed the video..in regards to the cap I am not muslim and also not bald..lol.
It was a homemade skull cap I bought at an african arts fair years ago..and I don't get to wear it much so since I started making videos 10 years ago now it has been sort of a tradition when I make a video to wear it..no special significance beyond that..😃..thanks for the comment..much love chris
