Hugely important detour for the band. The first two albums were heavy...this one was lighter. The next album combines the two, and creates their masterpiece. This band will shock and amaze you all the way thru their catalog.
A lot of the songs were acoustic as the songs were written at a farm with no electricity. Roy Harper was an Enhlish singer. He is the guest lead vocalist on Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar" from the perfect slbum Wish You Were Here (1975). Hats Off to (Roy) Harper is performed like the old southern US blues artists like Robert Johnson. As others have said, this was the set up for the next three albums.

I feel like Since I’ve been loving you is still one of the greatest tracks from them, it’s just melodically dark but gorgeous and has some of the coolest instrumentation where every member shines through.

Maybe, just judging on how he took "Harper" here, not some of their more experimental/MENTAL stuff, lol, but sure, there would be plenty for him to groove on even while appreciating their superb musicianship and insanely good craftsmanship.
John Paul Jones was the multi-instrumentalist of the group so if you hear something that isn't a bass, guitar, or drums, then its probably him playing it - apart from the harmonica which was normally played by Robert Plant
Perfect example is JPJ playing the Hammond organ on "Your Time Is Gonna Come." One of my favorite deep cuts from the debut. I don't know if it was released as a single or not, but you NEVER hear it on the radio (at least, I don't) or on compilation albums (e.g., Remasters).
I think Since I’ve Been Loving You is one of the best songs ever recorded… it was a delight to see it take hold of you. Any album with song is god-tier by association!
Since I’ve Been Loving You Live, at Madison Square Garden (1973) is absolutely amazing, it’s my favorite live performance. You can see & feel the passion, especially from Plant & Page, a beautiful bluesy song.
The album cover for Led Zeppelin III came with circular holes cut into it through which pictures from the inner sleeve could be seen. The inner sleeves on most vinyl records back then were made of white paper. But LZ covered the sleeve on this album with images of the band and flowers and things so when you rotated and flipped the sleeve around in different ways different pictures shown through the holes.
Jimmy played banjo for the first time on Gallows Pole. Incredible talent! Also JPJ had talent coming out of his ears. Looking forward to you continuing your LZ journey.

Not quite as strong as their first two, and if the only part you like are the hard blues rock, I can see why people don't fuck with the more folk stuff as much, but saying it's bad when it has songs like Since I've been Loving You and Tangerine, they're off their rocker

Folk singer Roy Harper was a friend of the band. He was known for his distinctive fingerstyle guitar playing. He also sang the lead vocals on Pink Floyd’s "Have a Cigar". LZIV makes up for any missteps on LZIII, but revisit LZIII after you've listened to all their albums because the songs on it will grow on you.

Song is about Robert Plants dog.His name was Stryder. This album was a huge departure from the first two . It seemed a little strange to me at first but it will definitely grow on you or at least it did for me.
John Paul Jones also does a ton of the orchestrations and if you hear any synthesizer that's almost always him. So if you hear any weird seasonings it's probably JPJ.
Ok I know I’m not a Patreon but I wish I was. I love watching the channel, seeing how all this great music hits you like it first hit me, and your comments have me doubled over laughing every video. So I would love to be but money is just way too damn tight for me right now. But you keep doing exactly what you’re doing and I promise I will be soon. I’m telling you all this because in spite of that I have three suggestions for you to take or leave - 1. Just to get the full picture of what mystery man John Paul Jones brought to Led Zeppelin you only need to hear one track - the opening song on his solo album ‘Zuma’ If that song doesn’t put that “Damn !! Someone just punched me in the stomach !” look you get when some music is REALLY hitting home for you then I have misjudged you. I don’t even know the title. The whole album is instrumental and why bother with the titles of instrumentals but it’s short and has a bassline like ‘Immigrant Song’ on steroids. 2. You’re going to do this anyway because I’m pretty sure you said so but ‘Past Masters’ is just as necessary an album as the White Album. You just don’t get the full story until you hear all the A and B sides or extra tracks which didn’t make it to an album for whatever reason. The Beatles could shake the whole world with a single song as much as an album and Past Masters will prove that to you beyond a doubt. Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever was a single and I know you heard them on Magical Mystery Tour. Now imagine a whole bunch of songs as good as those two which you haven’t heard. Can’t wait to see that episode ! 3. I see you were watching ‘A Hard Days Night’ on your Patreon and wish I could have joined you for that. I’ve watched just about every movie by a rock n roll band and that’s in my top 3. Second is ‘Gimme Shelter’ with The Rolling Stones. It’s a documentary about the free festival they played in 1969 which went seriously wrong. The Hells Angels were hired as security if you can believe that. First you get to see the Stones playing live in 1969 and you’ll get why, for decades, they were known as the Greatest Rock N Roll Band in the World. Second you get to see the Hells Angels actually murder a man on film. A lot of people say that concert and the Manson murders put an end to the whole 60s culture and I have to agree. But the Stones live in their prime ? No one better. Not then and not since. Third is the movie ‘Head’ by the Monkees. I’ll tell you the short version of the Monkees. The networks wanted a weekly TV show about a band like the Beatles but safe for little kids. A show about a made up band struggling to be popular like the Beatles but never quite making it. At first that’s what they got but those four kids they hired to play ‘The Monkees’ would only play along so far. Their producers felt the same way and as the show went on both the show and the music got weirder and weirder and the network got more and more unhappy. Problem was the two producers encouraged the band to be themselves and act as crazy as they wanted and the Monkees did. How about hiring Jimi Hendrix to be the opening act on their 1967 tour for instance ? They were a made for TV band that became a real band. It’s like Pinocchio or actually more like Frankenstein. So season 2 ends and it’s time for their big feature film of course. So Micky, Mike, Davy and Peter and their two producers and Jack Nicholson (the guy with the best seats at Lakers games) went out to a desert resort with the best weed money could buy and they wrote ‘Head’. I won’t tell you the plot except it involves a black box, opens with the Monkees committing suicide, and co-stars Frank Zappa, Annette Funicello and Sonny Liston. It bombed HUGE at the time and pretty much ended the Monkees but it became a cult classic. It came out in 1968 and I first saw it at an art gallery - for real - in 1981 and it was better than I ever imagined. I have probably seen that movie 20 times since and I swear there is something funny and/or subversive in every frame. Best movie by a rock band ever in my opinion. Magical Mystery Tour (the movie) is a sloppy boring mess by comparison. ‘Head’ does not let up for its entire 85 minutes. Your head will spin, I promise you. Just a thought from a freeloading subscriber but as soon as I saw you did a reaction video for a film I just had to speak up. Ok and one last… 4. If/when you do The Beach Boys you have to include the Dennis Wilson solo album ‘Pacific Island Blue’. It will break your heart but in a good way, like The Beach Boys always do when they’re firing on all cylinders. Ok NOW I’m done. Peace !✌️
Since I've Been Loving You is just lightning in a bottle, peak iconic Zeppelin all the way through, it's perfection like you said. The live version on Song Remains the Same is WILD. (You should definitely check out that video sometime, live Zeppelin is from another world.) At its root, it's just a simple blues song. But it's Zeppelin doing it and the way they do it is special. They have their critics who say they bastardized and plagiarized the blues. But I think what they did for the blues was absolutely necessary, they breathed new life into it and took it into the hard rock era, showing that it is both timeless and still has new things to say. There is no Black Sabbath, no Ramones, no Nirvana, no White Stripes, without Zeppelin. I love being able to relive hearing these songs for the first time through you, man. Gives me a new perspective and I can appreciate them even more. Same thing for the Beatles. Thanks for another one.
yeah that's why I generally ignore those comments I did some research and there was definitely some plagiarism going on 😂 but none of that takes away from the magnitude of these guys talent. Nobody would be talking about all that if the songs we're bad
This album needs to be taken in context. The band had been touring and recording flat out, and most of this was written during their first proper break. Page and Plsnt spent some weeks in a remote Welsh cottage called Bron y raur with nothing but them and an acoustic guitar, and this is what came out. True to say Bonham and JPJ didn't have as much involvement until they got into the studio to record them. But it paved the way for the greater diversity which was to come in the next few albums
Funnily enough this was the most I enjoyed reacting a Zeppelin album so far. Not better than Zep II by any metric, but this album gave me a much more complete look at these guys as artists and not just the rock n roll gods. I'm really happy they made this
LZ II+IV are the feel-good albums for every mood, even for driving, jogging, cleaning... . LZ I+III are the discoverers' albums; I have to “let myself go” to see the details and really enjoy them. I wouldn't want to miss any of the four. Then something changes. Thank you, just keep driving and let yourself be surprised.
everyone is waiting for you to do Led Zep 4, but in my opinion, Physical Graffiti (double album) will blow your mind. We played that album over and over again until the groves were worn down to pure static. Anyone who wants to buy an album from the Led should definitely buy Physical Graffiti.
Totally wrong recommendation; PG is not representative of LZ music; the only convincing side was 3. In addition, the production/mix is particularly one-sided, partly one-sided, uniform Hadrock. On page 4 there are some short fillers, no hghlight. In addition, 1/3 of the songs come from an earlier session. An too long album. The PG songs were more convincing live because they were mixed more equally instrumentally. Question for you: why did LZ play live from PG so soon afterwards??? often only 3-4.
Yes but many struggle with a double album. In tactic thinking should of been 2 single albums . Maybe released 6 months apart. Would have sold much more.
Just stumbled upon your channel in my recommendations. This is only my second vid I’ve watched besides your LZII reaction, and man, as a younger music producer & classic rock/electric guitar buff (who also LOVES hip hop) it is so refreshing to see you actually reading into the instrumental/lyrical wombo combo that’s displayed through Led Zeppelin’s music. Seeing you truly appreciate the quality of talent as it’s presented by a band like LZ, with fresh ears, is awesome. Really goes to show how they were able to take over the world back in the day. Since these songs were recorded, it has become such a different musical ecosystem, with hip hop, pop, and rap primarily dominating the charts in our modern age. And now it’s hard for me to find people my age who actually appreciate this kind of genius musical composition, regardless of being presented in a more “outdated” way as most people think these days, since this kind of raw rock music isn’t as popular.
When you started this journey, i was excited for every song you would be hearing, but there were certain milestones I was really looking forward to, and you hit the first one with "Since I've Been Loving You'. Literally when you started Led Zeppelin I, I thought "I can't wait for him to get to "Since I've Been Loving You", and the experience was every bit as great as I hoped it would be. Dude, you had me guilt-tripping a little, wondering if **I** have been appreciating the song's awesomeness enough all these years! IMO, ALL Zep albums are great, and while NONE of the songs actually suck, not all are mind-blowingly brilliant. But so many ARE. Pound-for-pound, just the BEST, in my book.
They perfected every aspect of that song everybody was on their A-game that day it was genuinely an experience for me to listen too. And there's definitely been some hit or miss tracks but the highs are just too high 😂

Love your reactions! You said early on that you feel hip hop right now is stagnating. Music has its cycles. I hope young guys like you fuse what you love about OTHER genres with hip hop and make it new! That's what LZ did, reaching back into the 1930s and 1920s with blues. It's what the Beatles did with soul, older rock and roll, and then pulling in influences from all over. There're only two kinds of music ... Music you like. And music you don't like ... yet!
You mentioned that the Beatles had 2 minute songs and all these songs are 5 minutes. Keep in mind, it was the Beatles who broke the standard of getting songs longer than 3:30 minutes on the radio. Hey Jude, in 1968, was 7 minutes long and their producers tried to get them to edit it because it wouldn’t get any airplay. They refused. “We’re the bloody Beatles. They will play it.” And they did! They played the 8 minute Revolution Number 9, Day in a Life, and the entire long medley on Abbey Road. The Beatles paved the way for bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to be able to make those epic songs. Iron Butterfly’s Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida, also in 1968, was 17 minutes long. There was an edited version, but radio DJ’s would sometimes play the long version. By 1970, when this album came out, longer songs on the radio were more normal. Eric Clapton’s epic son, Layla was 7 minutes. There was an edited single version, but fans often requested the long version. Fans, back then, had a LOT of power over what was played on the radio. We could literally call the radio station any time of day or night and request music to be played. We could often talk directly to the DJ’s. DJ’s played their own set list. But they kept track of what fans wanted to hear. That doesn’t happen anymore. It’s a damn shame, too!
I was never a big fan of this album, but it still had one of the best songs of all time (since I've been loving you), and for that, it is worth making the whole thing
"Since I've Been Loving You" is one of their absolute best songs. And personally, I REALLY like "Immigrant Song." That was the very first Led Zep song I ever heard, back in high school in the early 1970s. (Literally "in high school": The song was played over the audio system in the high school cafeteria one day, while I was eating my lunch.)
Led Zeppelin 1, 3 and Physical Graffiti are the biggest bits! These are the albums where the band find sublimity, grace....the search for identity after fame had tried to describe/ prescribe their souls. That being said, urgency and desperation doesn't always push artists to reach their potential. Also, rock, punk, soul...blues are all musical styles that describe the gripping sadness that drape our existence, our humanity. AND FINALLY, 'That's the Way', truly speaks about 'othernesss' whether that 'otherness' is about colour, creed, or sexuality. Plant is a lover of humanity, the rest of them are excellently talented misanthropes. I love these transitional, experimental, jagged and playful points in the band's career.
If you want to include it in the next vid or just listen to it on your own, listen to a video of JUST the bass on ramble on, you said it’s your favorite song so far so that might make you appreciate the bass even more

I’m really glad you enjoyed this album. I was waiting for your response to “Since I’ve Been Loving You” and you hit it just right. It is the centerpiece of the album, no doubt. You hear that they aren’t just playing the song, you hear them listening to one another and letting each other shine through, and they are all firing on all cylinders here. And around this period was arguably their best live performances as well-with call and responses and just pushing the envelope of what a rock band can do. And they sound balanced as well. I still have to see your response to side 2, but hopefully it won’t let you down. Less drums and more raw acoustic tunes, but it truly rounded out the breadth of their live sets. Wait till you get to IV. I do recommend having the album cover and sleeve in your hands for that one-it is a real experience seeing and feeling the music, smelling the vinyl of the album and experiencing how it should be experienced the very first time. Same with Beatles’ “Sgt Pepper” album. It’s a multi sensory experience. Thanks as always for your fun responses. Enjoy the rest of the Zep catalogue. I have been watching for awhile, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and can't wait until you explore Pink Floyd. it made me think about what else I listened to when Led Zeppelin albums were coming out, and I recall going to my girlfriend's basement in the 70s and could turn the volume up. the other albums out then that we played over and over were Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix Experience , and the Cream. cream was made up of a youngish Eric Clapton on guitar and Jack Bruce on bass, and Ginger Baker on drums. Album Disraili Gears . Those were great days and good music. Enjoying music especially in the summer school breaks. I, met my first real boyfriend, who was in a band who practiced in the Church across the street from me. We dated, he bought me my first acoustic guitar , and I did some back up singing etc., we became engaged and married on Feb 14th❤. He was one of those people who could play any instrument, read and write music, naturally gifted. I had to learn the old fashioned way..... practice., except I always sang. I grew up listening to my 3 older brother's music like Elvis, etc. my Dad was a singer, as well at home, like Frank Sinatra, etc. Pink Floyd for me was not just music, but a soul , mind changing experience. I have been to thousands of concerts, still do, but Pink Floyd got me through some hard times throughout my life. I hope you will appreciate them and enjoy their music. Enjoy all music, Bro.
Love seeing you hear this for the first time. It reminds me of when I first heard it. Glad you tripped on since I've Been Loving You. Zep did three slow blues tunes. The Otis Rush classic, I Can’t Quit You Babe (Zep 1), Since I’ve Been Loving You. (Zep 3), and Tea For One (Presence). These are all stand outs for me. Darius, I think you recognize the folk influences on this album (Pages’ acoustic album), but I am not sure you realize how much blues influence all of their stuff has. Hats Off to Roy Harper is a straight up Mississippi Delta play. The vocals were made to sound authentic. There wasn’t PA back then. Vocalist would plug into a guitar amp and it sounded like that. Those guitar amps often had tremolo built in, so that is why you would hear it on vocals. Jimmy Page was doing his best attempt at Elmore James.
maybe I was getting older, but "Presence" and "In thru the out door", although great, leave you with a bit of a negative mood. I love those 2 albums, but they do mess with your mood.
When you get to the Houses of the Holy album make sure you check out "No Quarter" under the "right conditions". 3 is one of my favourites, although a couple of the songs are ordinary.
I learned to like this as I grew older. Since I’ve been Loving You has been my fav at times. Bron yur stomp is supposed to sound like Barnyard stomp…like dyer maker is supposed to sound like Jamaica. Bron yur stomp will get stuck in your head if you’re not careful.
Don't care what anybody says, Zeppelin iii absolutely showcases the takents of the four members. This is probably Robert Plants best studio work. And glad you liked "Friends", this is one of my favourites... haunting and interesting structure

It’s pronounced ‘Bron Ee Our’ and I think is named after the cottage in Wales they all stayed in. I have a soft spot for it as it’s about Robert’s love for his sheepdog. A lot of the album is influenced by English folk music and traditional songs. Don’t worry NO ONE likes Hats off to Roy Harper…

I honestly really recommend listening to some of The Beatles solo albums. Mainly All Things Must Pass by George, Plastic Ono Band by John, and Band On The Run by Paul/Wings. You should also check out Pauls "RAM" album, which is one of my personal favorites
1. Immigration Song You’ll hear on lots of movies used heavily in Thor: Ragnarok 2. Gallows Pole is an old English folk song they Leded. It’s not light if you think about the dude about to die and what he’s hoping for. It’s a mover. I think it will grow on you what with the rushing and impending doom. 3. Tangerine was used perfectly in the movie Almost Famous a movie based on true events involving them and a kid writing an article about them. 4. I think Brony will grow on you. And remember JPJ also plays the keyboards. He’s their secret sauce.

John Paul Jones was the multi-instrumentalist of the group so if you hear something that isn't a bass, guitar, or drums, then its probably him playing it - apart from the harmonica which was normally played by Robert Plant
Perfect example is JPJ playing the Hammond organ on "Your Time Is Gonna Come." One of my favorite deep cuts from the debut. I don't know if it was released as a single or not, but you NEVER hear it on the radio (at least, I don't) or on compilation albums (e.g., Remasters).

Since I’ve Been Loving You Live, at Madison Square Garden (1973) is absolutely amazing, it’s my favorite live performance. You can see & feel the passion, especially from Plant & Page, a beautiful bluesy song.

The album cover for Led Zeppelin III came with circular holes cut into it through which pictures from the inner sleeve could be seen. The inner sleeves on most vinyl records back then were made of white paper. But LZ covered the sleeve on this album with images of the band and flowers and things so when you rotated and flipped the sleeve around in different ways different pictures shown through the holes.
Remember taking it to school to show my mates!

“That’s the way” version from the live album “how the west was won” is beautiful and elevated above the studio recording in my opinion
Folk singer Roy Harper was a friend of the band. He was known for his distinctive fingerstyle guitar playing. He also sang the lead vocals on Pink Floyd’s "Have a Cigar". LZIV makes up for any missteps on LZIII, but revisit LZIII after you've listened to all their albums because the songs on it will grow on you.

Song is about Robert Plants dog.His name was Stryder. This album was a huge departure from the first two . It seemed a little strange to me at first but it will definitely grow on you or at least it did for me.
John Paul Jones also does a ton of the orchestrations and if you hear any synthesizer that's almost always him. So if you hear any weird seasonings it's probably JPJ.
Ok I know I’m not a Patreon but I wish I was. I love watching the channel, seeing how all this great music hits you like it first hit me, and your comments have me doubled over laughing every video. So I would love to be but money is just way too damn tight for me right now. But you keep doing exactly what you’re doing and I promise I will be soon. I’m telling you all this because in spite of that I have three suggestions for you to take or leave -
1. Just to get the full picture of what mystery man John Paul Jones brought to Led Zeppelin you only need to hear one track - the opening song on his solo album ‘Zuma’ If that song doesn’t put that “Damn !! Someone just punched me in the stomach !” look you get when some music is REALLY hitting home for you then I have misjudged you. I don’t even know the title. The whole album is instrumental and why bother with the titles of instrumentals but it’s short and has a bassline like ‘Immigrant Song’ on steroids.
2. You’re going to do this anyway because I’m pretty sure you said so but ‘Past Masters’ is just as necessary an album as the White Album. You just don’t get the full story until you hear all the A and B sides or extra tracks which didn’t make it to an album for whatever reason. The Beatles could shake the whole world with a single song as much as an album and Past Masters will prove that to you beyond a doubt. Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever was a single and I know you heard them on Magical Mystery Tour. Now imagine a whole bunch of songs as good as those two which you haven’t heard. Can’t wait to see that episode !
3. I see you were watching ‘A Hard Days Night’ on your Patreon and wish I could have joined you for that. I’ve watched just about every movie by a rock n roll band and that’s in my top 3.
Second is ‘Gimme Shelter’ with The Rolling Stones. It’s a documentary about the free festival they played in 1969 which went seriously wrong. The Hells Angels were hired as security if you can believe that. First you get to see the Stones playing live in 1969 and you’ll get why, for decades, they were known as the Greatest Rock N Roll Band in the World. Second you get to see the Hells Angels actually murder a man on film. A lot of people say that concert and the Manson murders put an end to the whole 60s culture and I have to agree. But the Stones live in their prime ? No one better. Not then and not since.
Third is the movie ‘Head’ by the Monkees. I’ll tell you the short version of the Monkees. The networks wanted a weekly TV show about a band like the Beatles but safe for little kids. A show about a made up band struggling to be popular like the Beatles but never quite making it. At first that’s what they got but those four kids they hired to play ‘The Monkees’ would only play along so far. Their producers felt the same way and as the show went on both the show and the music got weirder and weirder and the network got more and more unhappy. Problem was the two producers encouraged the band to be themselves and act as crazy as they wanted and the Monkees did. How about hiring Jimi Hendrix to be the opening act on their 1967 tour for instance ? They were a made for TV band that became a real band. It’s like Pinocchio or actually more like Frankenstein.
So season 2 ends and it’s time for their big feature film of course. So Micky, Mike, Davy and Peter and their two producers and Jack Nicholson (the guy with the best seats at Lakers games) went out to a desert resort with the best weed money could buy and they wrote ‘Head’. I won’t tell you the plot except it involves a black box, opens with the Monkees committing suicide, and co-stars Frank Zappa, Annette Funicello and Sonny Liston. It bombed HUGE at the time and pretty much ended the Monkees but it became a cult classic. It came out in 1968 and I first saw it at an art gallery - for real - in 1981 and it was better than I ever imagined. I have probably seen that movie 20 times since and I swear there is something funny and/or subversive in every frame. Best movie by a rock band ever in my opinion. Magical Mystery Tour (the movie) is a sloppy boring mess by comparison. ‘Head’ does not let up for its entire 85 minutes. Your head will spin, I promise you. Just a thought from a freeloading subscriber but as soon as I saw you did a reaction video for a film I just had to speak up. Ok and one last…
4. If/when you do The Beach Boys you have to include the Dennis Wilson solo album ‘Pacific Island Blue’. It will break your heart but in a good way, like The Beach Boys always do when they’re firing on all cylinders. Ok NOW I’m done. Peace !✌️
Since I've Been Loving You is just lightning in a bottle, peak iconic Zeppelin all the way through, it's perfection like you said. The live version on Song Remains the Same is WILD. (You should definitely check out that video sometime, live Zeppelin is from another world.) At its root, it's just a simple blues song. But it's Zeppelin doing it and the way they do it is special. They have their critics who say they bastardized and plagiarized the blues. But I think what they did for the blues was absolutely necessary, they breathed new life into it and took it into the hard rock era, showing that it is both timeless and still has new things to say. There is no Black Sabbath, no Ramones, no Nirvana, no White Stripes, without Zeppelin. I love being able to relive hearing these songs for the first time through you, man. Gives me a new perspective and I can appreciate them even more. Same thing for the Beatles. Thanks for another one.
yeah that's why I generally ignore those comments I did some research and there was definitely some plagiarism going on 😂 but none of that takes away from the magnitude of these guys talent. Nobody would be talking about all that if the songs we're bad

It's obviously one of the great albums in rock history.
This album needs to be taken in context. The band had been touring and recording flat out, and most of this was written during their first proper break. Page and Plsnt spent some weeks in a remote Welsh cottage called Bron y raur with nothing but them and an acoustic guitar, and this is what came out. True to say Bonham and JPJ didn't have as much involvement until they got into the studio to record them. But it paved the way for the greater diversity which was to come in the next few albums

Funnily enough this was the most I enjoyed reacting a Zeppelin album so far. Not better than Zep II by any metric, but this album gave me a much more complete look at these guys as artists and not just the rock n roll gods. I'm really happy they made this
LZ II+IV are the feel-good albums for every mood, even for driving, jogging, cleaning... .
LZ I+III are the discoverers' albums; I have to “let myself go” to see the details and really enjoy them. I wouldn't want to miss any of the four. Then something changes. Thank you, just keep driving and let yourself be surprised.
everyone is waiting for you to do Led Zep 4, but in my opinion, Physical Graffiti (double album) will blow your mind. We played that album over and over again until the groves were worn down to pure static. Anyone who wants to buy an album from the Led should definitely buy Physical Graffiti.
Totally wrong recommendation; PG is not representative of LZ music; the only convincing side was 3. In addition, the production/mix is particularly one-sided, partly one-sided, uniform Hadrock. On page 4 there are some short fillers, no hghlight. In addition, 1/3 of the songs come from an earlier session. An too long album.
The PG songs were more convincing live because they were mixed more equally instrumentally.

Just stumbled upon your channel in my recommendations. This is only my second vid I’ve watched besides your LZII reaction, and man, as a younger music producer & classic rock/electric guitar buff (who also LOVES hip hop) it is so refreshing to see you actually reading into the instrumental/lyrical wombo combo that’s displayed through Led Zeppelin’s music. Seeing you truly appreciate the quality of talent as it’s presented by a band like LZ, with fresh ears, is awesome. Really goes to show how they were able to take over the world back in the day. Since these songs were recorded, it has become such a different musical ecosystem, with hip hop, pop, and rap primarily dominating the charts in our modern age. And now it’s hard for me to find people my age who actually appreciate this kind of genius musical composition, regardless of being presented in a more “outdated” way as most people think these days, since this kind of raw rock music isn’t as popular.
When you started this journey, i was excited for every song you would be hearing, but there were certain milestones I was really looking forward to, and you hit the first one with "Since I've Been Loving You'. Literally when you started Led Zeppelin I, I thought "I can't wait for him to get to "Since I've Been Loving You", and the experience was every bit as great as I hoped it would be. Next Milestone comes as the last song on side 1 of Led Zeppelin IV.

Dude, you had me guilt-tripping a little, wondering if **I** have been appreciating the song's awesomeness enough all these years! IMO, ALL Zep albums are great, and while NONE of the songs actually suck, not all are mind-blowingly brilliant. But so many ARE. Pound-for-pound, just the BEST, in my book.
They perfected every aspect of that song everybody was on their A-game that day it was genuinely an experience for me to listen too. And there's definitely been some hit or miss tracks but the highs are just too high 😂

I hope young guys like you fuse what you love about OTHER genres with hip hop and make it new! That's what LZ did, reaching back into the 1930s and 1920s with blues. It's what the Beatles did with soul, older rock and roll, and then pulling in influences from all over. There're only two kinds of music ... Music you like. And music you don't like ... yet!

You mentioned that the Beatles had 2 minute songs and all these songs are 5 minutes.
Keep in mind, it was the Beatles who broke the standard of getting songs longer than 3:30 minutes on the radio. Hey Jude, in 1968, was 7 minutes long and their producers tried to get them to edit it because it wouldn’t get any airplay. They refused. “We’re the bloody Beatles. They will play it.” And they did! They played the 8 minute Revolution Number 9, Day in a Life, and the entire long medley on Abbey Road. The Beatles paved the way for bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to be able to make those epic songs. Iron Butterfly’s Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida, also in 1968, was 17 minutes long. There was an edited version, but radio DJ’s would sometimes play the long version.
By 1970, when this album came out, longer songs on the radio were more normal. Eric Clapton’s epic son, Layla was 7 minutes. There was an edited single version, but fans often requested the long version. Fans, back then, had a LOT of power over what was played on the radio. We could literally call the radio station any time of day or night and request music to be played. We could often talk directly to the DJ’s. DJ’s played their own set list. But they kept track of what fans wanted to hear. That doesn’t happen anymore. It’s a damn shame, too!

I was never a big fan of this album, but it still had one of the best songs of all time (since I've been loving you), and for that, it is worth making the whole thing
"Since I've Been Loving You" is one of their absolute best songs. And personally, I REALLY like "Immigrant Song." That was the very first Led Zep song I ever heard, back in high school in the early 1970s. (Literally "in high school": The song was played over the audio system in the high school cafeteria one day, while I was eating my lunch.)

Led Zeppelin 1, 3 and Physical Graffiti are the biggest bits! These are the albums where the band find sublimity, grace....the search for identity after fame had tried to describe/ prescribe their souls. That being said, urgency and desperation doesn't always push artists to reach their potential. Also, rock, punk, soul...blues are all musical styles that describe the gripping sadness that drape our existence, our humanity. AND FINALLY, 'That's the Way', truly speaks about 'othernesss' whether that 'otherness' is about colour, creed, or sexuality. Plant is a lover of humanity, the rest of them are excellently talented misanthropes. I love these transitional, experimental, jagged and playful points in the band's career.
If you want to include it in the next vid or just listen to it on your own, listen to a video of JUST the bass on ramble on, you said it’s your favorite song so far so that might make you appreciate the bass even more

Led Zeppelin III is a masterpiece as is all their albums, this album is a display of 'Unplugged' before it was popularized.
There's a lot to take in. After listening to a song a half a dozen times,,,,you'll get a good feel for it. 3, 4, 5 and Physical Graffiti are all different,,,,ALL FANTASTIC. In Through the Outdoor is good too. 💥💥💥👍😎

I’m really glad you enjoyed this album. I was waiting for your response to “Since I’ve Been Loving You” and you hit it just right. It is the centerpiece of the album, no doubt. You hear that they aren’t just playing the song, you hear them listening to one another and letting each other shine through, and they are all firing on all cylinders here. And around this period was arguably their best live performances as well-with call and responses and just pushing the envelope of what a rock band can do. And they sound balanced as well. I still have to see your response to side 2, but hopefully it won’t let you down. Less drums and more raw acoustic tunes, but it truly rounded out the breadth of their live sets.
Wait till you get to IV. I do recommend having the album cover and sleeve in your hands for that one-it is a real experience seeing and feeling the music, smelling the vinyl of the album and experiencing how it should be experienced the very first time.
Same with Beatles’ “Sgt Pepper” album. It’s a multi sensory experience.

it made me think about what else I listened to when Led Zeppelin albums were coming out, and I recall going to my girlfriend's basement in the 70s and could turn the volume up. the other albums out then that we played over and over were Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix Experience , and the Cream. cream was made up of a youngish Eric Clapton on
guitar and Jack Bruce on bass, and Ginger Baker on drums.

across the street from me. We dated, he bought me my first acoustic guitar , and I did some back up singing etc., we became engaged and married on Feb 14th❤. He was one of those people who could play any instrument, read and write music, naturally gifted. I had to learn the old fashioned way..... practice., except I always sang. I grew up listening to my 3 older brother's music like Elvis, etc. my Dad was a singer, as well at home, like Frank Sinatra, etc. Pink Floyd
for me was not just music, but a
soul , mind changing experience.
I have been to thousands of concerts, still do, but Pink Floyd
got me through some hard times

Love seeing you hear this for the first time. It reminds me of when I first heard it. Glad you tripped on since I've Been Loving You. Zep did three slow blues tunes. The Otis Rush classic, I Can’t Quit You Babe (Zep 1), Since I’ve Been Loving You. (Zep 3), and Tea For One (Presence). These are all stand outs for me. Darius, I think you recognize the folk influences on this album (Pages’ acoustic album), but I am not sure you realize how much blues influence all of their stuff has. Hats Off to Roy Harper is a straight up Mississippi Delta play. The vocals were made to sound authentic. There wasn’t PA back then. Vocalist would plug into a guitar amp and it sounded like that. Those guitar amps often had tremolo built in, so that is why you would hear it on vocals. Jimmy Page was doing his best attempt at Elmore James.

maybe I was getting older, but "Presence" and "In thru the out door", although great, leave you with a bit of a negative mood. I love those 2 albums, but they do mess with your mood.

I learned to like this as I grew older. Since I’ve been Loving You has been my fav at times. Bron yur stomp is supposed to sound like Barnyard stomp…like dyer maker is supposed to sound like Jamaica. Bron yur stomp will get stuck in your head if you’re not careful.
Don't care what anybody says, Zeppelin iii absolutely showcases the takents of the four members. This is probably Robert Plants best studio work.

It’s pronounced ‘Bron Ee Our’ and I think is named after the cottage in Wales they all stayed in. I have a soft spot for it as it’s about Robert’s love for his sheepdog.

I honestly really recommend listening to some of The Beatles solo albums. Mainly All Things Must Pass by George, Plastic Ono Band by John, and Band On The Run by Paul/Wings. You should also check out Pauls "RAM" album, which is one of my personal favorites
1. Immigration Song You’ll hear on lots of movies used heavily in Thor: Ragnarok
2. Gallows Pole is an old English folk song they Leded. It’s not light if you think about the dude about to die and what he’s hoping for. It’s a mover. I think it will grow on you what with the rushing and impending doom.
3. Tangerine was used perfectly in the movie Almost Famous a movie based on true events involving them and a kid writing an article about them.
4. I think Brony will grow on you.
