Welcome aboard,,,,,The Zeppelin Train has room for more. Dude,,,,growing up,,,,Zeppelin was God. 💥💥💥👍😎
Their lives are amazing too especially early albums at Madison Square Gardens (1973). Some songs won’t be your favorite, but you won’t hate them either. They each are the masters of their crafts, & all shine in either each song, or have their special moments.
Dazed and confused is also my favorite Zeppelin 1 song too!
Also when you get to three, prepare yourself for "Since I've Been Loving You" and its earthshattering
I like Zep, though the countless Guitar tracks for each song is over the top,,.
And tell the truth my father had listened to some obscure bands in those days and that there are a lot of artists that actually put out songs that led Zeppelin chose to put on the records , without crediting the Writers of those tracks.
It's one thing to cover a song, but to include these tracks while failing to provide the original authors is not good,
The Tracks are some of their best known songs..
Joan Baez is but one of those artist who hasn't received a dime for their own song.
The thing about Led Zeppelin is that each one of them is one of the best at their respective discipline. With the Beatles, they’re all talented/skilled, but their greatness is more about their innovation, versatility and impact. Zeppelin is just 4 prodigies going HAM, which is also a lightning in a bottle situation.
Absolutely agree
The baseline on, "The Lemon Song," is one of the finest ever recorded. JPJ is an astounding musician and composer.
"Ramble On" has a really good bassline as well.
The Lemon Song literally is my favorite rock bass of all time
Jonesys finest moment..
Originally came for the Beatles, stuck around because you are a cool human.
Whole Lotta Love just brought back a funny memory. My dad was a big fan of Zep and once, when I was like seven or eight, we were out traveling in the motorhome (this would be in the eighties) and I was supposed to be taking a nap in the back but my dad forgot to cut the speakers back there, so I'm laying on the bed and Jimmy's guitars and Plant's vocals are swirling around the room. I just remember my eyes being wide open, staring at the ceiling, listening... little me and psychedelia. Hahaha, I never stood a chance!
Love that first sentence tbh mate. Nice one 😉
Page panned the guitar and vocals back when Quad speakers 🔊 were popular so the guitar swirled around the room. With a Speaker in each corner you can hear it by sitting in the middle of the room. Nobody does this anymore.
You call em whatever you want, as long as you listening you’re doing right
I’m hyped that you’re listening to Led Zeppelin. Pink Floyd is the next rock band you gotta react too. Here’s what you gotta know: all 4 members of Led Zeppelin are elite at what they do. They’ll all be on virtually any top 10 list for rock singers, guitarists, drummers, and bassists. The Beatles are my favorite band ever, but nobody does pure rock better than Led Zeppelin
Best comment
"Squeeze my lemon til the juice etc was a line from a Robert Johnson song from the 1930s.
Not only is John Paul Jones play the bass. He is also responsible for all the keys from the synthesizer you hear. These guys are the legends and the goats. Hope you go through all their records and catch their lives.
JPJ is also a slick producer. notably REM's best album Automatic for the People
Also playing bass and keys at the same time. He and Page in the studio was magic.
Don’t forget the mandolin.
The Lemon Song has a damn good GOAT case for best Bass performance of all time.
And if not then it's Ramble On.
In Thank You, Robert is thanking his wife, Maureen. One of the first songs that Robert actually wrote. Up to that point most of the music had been taken from old blues. Here, he’s beginning to find his way into becoming the outstanding lyricist that he was and is
Tears off happiness are flowing as I watch you really enjoy and understand what millions of us still consider the best band ever!
Feel you, I tear up every time I see a honest reaction of some body being just blown away with each song. Just like when we waited a year to buy the new record. It just keeps getting better and better. No other band in history can you say that about. The greatest band to ever grace the stage
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
This guitar riff on whole Lotta Love has been voted the best riff of all time.
The solo. It’s my ringtone, I cut & made for myself.
I think what you said about how every member is perfect for Led Zeppelin is more true for them than it is for The Beatles. What was crazy about The Beatles is more like 3 contenders for the greatest songwriter of all time and one of the most revolutionary drummers of all time happened to all grow up in the same town, became the most popular musical act of all time, and then proceeded to also become the most innovative musical act of all time. Like, Led Zep is kind of a supergroup to begin with, Jimmy Page was an established guitarist in The Yardbirds who went and looked for the perfect members for his heavy ass Blues band, but The Beatles sort of serendipitously happened to meet up and then revolutionized the entire music world and even culture itself.
The cool thing is that neither group would have worked with different members. They each brought something unique to each band's overall sound and the journey their respective careers took. If not for the tragic deaths of John Lennon and John Bonham. Well, the Beatles had already split but there was potential to further projects. Zeppelin just halted when Bonham died. They said they couldn't carry on without him. Imagine Jimmy Page and John Lennon working together with Paul McCartney and John Paul Jones.
These two albums were dropped in the Same Year! Blows people away! 😏
And you can hear it. They sound very similar
Critics were rough on their first albums so they stopped doing interviews which gave them a mythical status. You can imagine what it was like when they came to town. Crazy.
Dude,,,,your enthusiasm is likeable. Great reaction. 💥💥💥👍😎
Live long version of Bonham’s 15 20 minute solo is out of this world, shows why he’s the greatest drummer ever, he preformed it over 200 times.
A UK radio station (planet rock) asked listeners to vote in for their favourite bassist, drummer, lead man and lead guitar; and it ended up just being the members of Zeppelin.
They're so talented in their own perspective art forms that they are voted the best.
The best thing about Zeppelin is every time you listen you get a different experience. Would have loved to have seen live.
14:52 - 100%,The louder you play Zeppelin the better they sound!
I love that you start at the beginning of the catalog and get a sense of how the band's sound (The Beatles and now Led Zeppelin) evolve over time. Now, if you want to dive into a crazy evolution, check out Pink Floyd. Piper At the Gates of Dawn (first album) is vastly different than Dark Side of The Moon (their 8th album). I'd really be interested in your take on them.
Led Zap, indeed any Great Band, are worth listening to multiple times. I have listened to these albums more times than I can count, and they still Rock
My introduction to Led Zeppelin 2 was in the friend's automobile. He had purchased a new sound system for his car, complete with a cassette deck. We were riding to a newly racially integrated high school. I must have been a sophomore and it was 1972 and I was probably 14. The Vietnam war had not yet ended. The Pentagon Papers, proving all administrations from Truman to Nixon had lied to us about the Vietnam war, had been known about for only 1 year. That is how old this is. And yet, this British music was an ANSWER to the even older American music from the 40s, 50s and 60s.
Every album is absolutely magnificent! On to Zeppelin III
I typically refer to them as "Zeppelin." Can't believe people givin' ya crap about that. 😂😂😂
"He (Bonham) gotta have blisters on his fingers..." Is that a "Helter Skelter" call back? 😊 I GOT BLISTAHS ON MA FINGAHS...
This album is crazy good. "The Brown Bomber" as it is affectionately referred to, because of the color of the album jacket. "Thank You" is such a beautiful song. I'm not typically one for love songs, but man, that's absolutely beautiful. ❤ I love rockin' and rollin', but damn...
"There's Robert Plants everywhere!" 😂😂😂 They did love panning left-right-left-right. "Whole Lotta Love" had a LOT of that shit.
Best way to listen to this album (and many others!) is after smokin' a nice fatty, kickin' back in your most comfy chair, and crankin' the shit out of it, headphones (no ear buds!) or a proper stereo. 😊😊😊
III is a curveball. Probably 2nd-to-last on my list of their albums, but it most def has some gems on it. But for me, it's def not front-to-back like their first or II. IV (or "The Runes" or "Zoso", depending on who you're talking/listening to) and the rest (with the exception of the album "Presence") are front-to-back listens.
I can't rank I, II, IV, or Physical Graffiti...I love them all.
Yes they are the GOATS…no question necessary!
The Beatles are the most influential band ever
Led Zeppelin is the best band of all time.
Just so. Someone always tries to keep rephrasing the question until "Rolling Stones" is the answer, but nope. They're something else, all their own. But not Greatest or Best.
Since I’ve been loving you going to blow your mind bro 😂
Just absolutely epic. It will be a song you remember forever.
Also in Ramble on-the tapping you hear is John Bonham using his knuckles on the side of the drums!!
I agree - give each album an ear. So many reviewers just listen to one song and comment, and then move on to another artist with a different album and listen to one song and comment. So many rock albums were a work of art in their entirety, and need to be listened to all the way through to be fully appreciated. You're doing well, man.
Back in high school I had a killer stereo and me and my friends would drop some acid Roll up some killer weed throw this album on I just go on a fantastic journey!
The Thank You song Robert wrote this to his wife who supported him when he was a starving artist
One of my favorite albums Led Zeppelin 3.
I always call them as "LED"....Best band Ever!!!
Darius it makes me so happy to see a youngster appreciate the music I grew up listening to, don't stop your journey into music there is so much from the Big Band era all the way to the turn of the century. Please consider listening to Cab Calloway singing [ Minnie The Muncher ] you will jump out of your chair. Cab was in the movie The Blues Brothers and did an awesome performance. Thank you for sharing this tune with all of us.
Zeppelin keeps evolving as you continue your journey. They take a serious left turn next with ZEP III.
So great to discovering your channel. Outstanding reaction!!
Much respect for your honesty. Music effects everyone differently.
You react from your heart. Much respect. 😊
“How can they take it farther than this?” Loving your journey, I’m a kid again!
Led Zeppelin does not
plug in to amplifiers
Led Zeppelin
plugs in to your Soul ❤
This is fun. You're listening to one of the greatest albums ever, and it's hitting you just right. Keep going. It's time for my favorite album, Led Zeppelin III.
This is definitely my favorite of theirs. Tight performances by everyone and catchy songs
Your appreciation for Zeppelin is super intriguing.
Just wait til you get to the live stuff.
"Bonzo" John bonham does this live from MSG too and its an Epic drum solo. Its his time to shine❤
Dude, you’re so good.
One of great things about Zeppelin is they carved out their own territory and original sound.
When a reporter asked Page how the Beatles influenced Zeppelin musically he said: we sound nothing like the Beatles. So musically they broke away and did their own thing. Which is very impressive because everyone was trying to sound like the Beatles and Zeppelin didn’t copy them at all. Very impressive!
The Lemon song is a reworking of an old blues song. Plant didn’t write those lyrics or whole lotta love. You need love by Willie Dixon who wrote the lyrics.
The riff is zeppelins but not the lyrics.
Well, they may not sound like The Beatles but they were certainly influenced by them. The backwards guitars, the sound traveling from one speaker to another (a la “Revolution #9”), the fadeout and fade back in of certain songs, the amount of musical experimentation they were allowed to get away with, etc.
Bonham was plying his regular drum kit with his fingers that’s why it sounds like bongos on Moby Dick
what!? that takes the track up a notch for me i can't lie 😂
@@lifeofdariiusYou should really take a look at the live version of Moby Dick from the Royal Albert Hall. Actually seeing him do this is mind blowing.
That makes sense, given that Bonham was a student of Joe Morello, who often played drums with his hands in his solos.
@@lifeofdariiusthere is a LIVE version of Moby Dick on UA-cam that you can react to, I've seen others react to it, that actually SHOWS him playing this song and doing that section with no drumsticks!!!!😮😮😮
It's amazing that his fingers do not bleed!!!
I grew up in the 70's and Led was amazing!!You would Love Bostons whole album and the vocals and guitar playing is nothing you have ever heard! Enjoy!Love your Beatles reactions too❤
Whole lotta love live from MSG live 1973 is incredible❤
Yes!!
That whole band was so tight that when one of them died, they were done. It was such a tight unit they didnt feel anyone could be replaced.
I don't care how many times you've heard 'The Lemon Song' it's always worth going back and listening to again for the bass line alone.
So glad your loving this amazing band, can't wait for you to do some of their live stuff, they are absolutely magical!😊
The strange sound you hear in the breakdown of “Whole Lotta Love” is actually Page pulling a violin bow across his electric guitar. Fucking crazy genius!
I’m enjoying these videos very much, good job!
In August, 1971 (sorry, I’m old) some friends and I drove 350 miles in a VW bus to see Led Zeppelin in concert. It was the most memorable concert ever! The performance was awesome as expected, ending with three encores. Nobody wanted to leave.
When the lights finally came on, we could barely see through the cloud of smoke hanging over the floor, which was a sea of brown stubby beer bottles. Throughout the evening, police and dogs were on the catwalks above. The next day we were surprised to hear that while we were all inside the arena, there had been a full blown riot outside. Crazy!
Also, we listened to Janis Joplin’s Pearl many times on that drive in a very slow van. 👏👏👏. Janis would be another good artist to explore.
was lucky enough to have seen them in the mid 70s. they were fantastic.
My favorite Zeppelin album.
They recorded this album on their days off, while on your. They had so much talent they couldn't contain it.
Love the content heartbreaker and living loving maid are 2 parts of one song they go together
Love seeing you 'geek out' to LZ. If you are a music fan, it's a lifetime love affair with this band - I've heard them nearly my whole life (was a kid in the 70s) got really into them in college and adored them ever since - the cool thing is you can always find something new to listen to - it never gets old. Also Plant and Bonham were about 20 yrs old when the first album came out, a few months after the band was formed. These songs are 50 years old and they still sound freaking amazing. Keep going, you'll love the whole ride.
Speaking as a drummer: actually, what sounds like bongos in "Moby Dick", is actually John Bonham playing his drums with his bare hands! Led Zeppelin 1 is an incredible statement of intent--"This is who we are, this is what we do!" Led Zeppelin 2, the band perfects their basic sound. Absolutely classic!
YES
BEEN WAITING FOR
I enjoyed the reaction bro. Zep is kino, the next one is going to be a bit different then the vibe that’s been set up by zep on these two first albums. A lot more acoustic stuff, the first track is a BANGER, you’ll probably even recognize it from movies and stuff, anyway, excited for the next, much love 🙏💙
There was a rich groupie that followed them everywhere. They hate that songs, but fans loved it. On Ramble On Bonham is hitting Pages guitar case, it gave a tapping sound, & sounded cool.
RAMBLE ON was the first song I liked by them. Travelling Riverside Blues immediately after that same session made me a fan. I was 7 years old and used to The Beatles and CSN and The Beach Boys.
Moby Dick is essentially a John Bonham drum solo. He is playing on his full drum kit but is using his hands instead of drumsticks. He sometimes uses one hand pressing flat on the snare drum skin and the other hand to tap it making a 'bongo-like' sound. By moving his flat hand on different areas of the snare drum skin he alters the pitch of the bongo sound.
I'm sorry that people are criticizing and nit picking at you in the comments; that's uncalled for! You can call them anything you want and say anything you want about them. It's your reaction channel, your reaction, and I think you're doing a great job as a first time LZ listener. Keep up the good work, Darius! btw, John Bonham was called "Bonzo" and John Paul Jones was called either "JPJ" or "Jonesy."
I appreciate it! I just take it all as constructive criticism try to make it all as lighthearted as possible 😂 Thank you I might have to start calling them that in future reactions I think I got they're names mixed up a couple times this video😅
I saw Led Zeppelin in concert in 1974, Page and Plant in 1994, Robert Plant in 2009, and Robert Plant with Alison Krauss in 2023. Forever a Robert Plant and LZ fan. Watch some live videos and you will see the charisma they had live. Robert Plant was (and still is) the Golden God of rock.
Speaking of perfect chemistry in a band, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Mick Jagger, and whoever else was playing guitar. The Stones late sixties, early seventies, some of the greatest rock music ever made
Jimmy is a literal Guitar Wizard
Cant wait for Zeppelin III😂
A very intelligent, genuine, insightful review of this classic album. Very enjoyable Thank you.
Whole Lotta Love was the first Zep song I ever heard. I was 11 and lost my mind. We wore out that cassette tape!
I always considered this album easily their best. Glad you agree too. Great reaction!
Love your insights,so well thought out and insightful. Your one of the best reactors I have watched and I really appreciate your approach to each artist you react to. Great stuff.
This is my favorite album by Zeppelin but Zeppelin 1 was music that no one ever heard
Really appreciate your observations - thanks. Glad you're going to do all the albums - anxious to hear your LZIII reaction And Physical Graffiti. ☮
No correction needed. You get it.
😂 “There’s Robert Plants everywhere” had me floored.
"You Shook Me" is the bluesiest song on the album. Early rock and roll incorporated a lot of blues in the music, and was also called "rhythm and blues," to separate it from straight blues. There's not so much blues in modern music, and with a slower beat, songs such as this are not as popular with younger listeners. Once you learn to identify the blues genre, you'll hear how it influenced the early rock sound.
Imagine back in the day, when you had a tradition of Elvis, who was great, but, then there came these guys, Cream, Beatles singing about Revolution. It was heady times.
One of the best LP of all time!
Their concerts would last from 3 to 4 hours, a few even ran longer. Bands hated opening or following them, because of how great they were. They played nonstop for all those hours, most bands play about 90 minutes, & usually take a break. So YES, so many reasons they are the greatest band EVER!
Thank you for loving my favorite band so much! your reaction is priceless! I love you man!❤😂😊
Enjoy your honest reactions. Your enthusiasm. Love it!
This is my favorite band of all time. They literally changed rock music forever. They did things no one ever did before. Jimmy Page produced every album…..giving the band the freedom to be creative. You said “I can’t follow these guys!” They made long interesting songs with unexpected changes. Tempo changes. Mood changes. Each song is a journey…..just listen….dont expect anything…..these aren’t computer made pop songs of the 2020s.
Zeppelin sent a shockwave that sent out ripples for decades after but in the 70s, EVERY hard rock band that came charging out of the gates were fueled by Led Zeppelin ;
Aerosmith, Rush, Heart,Queen,Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen, AC DC, Metallica, Soundgarden... the list never stops because they inspired young musicians to really take playing an instrument seriously and this resulted in the 'supergroup' phenomenon that became a real thing with bands like Rush, YES, Kansas, Boston etc.
The one thing the Beatles and Zeppelin may have in common is that the respect and admiration they recieved was unanimous and remained unabetted for decades after. Tbe Who and The Rolling Stones also had that kind of loyalty sndjyy😂g
Zep 2 is probably my 2nd favorite record.
They wrote & recorded this album while on tour, so recorded in different studios all the time. It came out 10 months after the first album.
I'm glad you finally realized that you have to listen to th full album together!especially "Heartbreaker into "Livin loving maid"!!!nobody could sing like Robert Plant!!!!!!
Well, my first concert in 1969. I was 13 and mind was blown.
Moby Dick is literally a drum solo song! Yes their best 3 albums are IV Houses Of The Holy and Physical Graffiti!!
I've enjoyed your reactions to this album and also the first Led Zeppelin album!! Your honesty and perception are top notch!!! I believe you're 100% correct about the feel of this album as compared to the first one!! Definitely more thought out and less of a jam feel, as you pointed out!!!
I'm going to say that John Bonham is definitely the best rock and roll drummer to have EVER lived!!! I would also say, in my opinion, that the top three rock drummers of ALL TIME are John Bonham, Carl Palmer, and Neil Peart!!! I put Bonham ahead of the other two because of the size of his kit and what he was able to do with it!! As compared to Neil Peart or Carl Palmer who have massive kits!!!!
Great album. Now you should watch the live performance of Moby Dick from the Royal Albert Hall. It will blow your mind.
Okay now you are starting to understand why we know that Led Zeppelin is the best band ever ❤
My absolute favorite album of Zeppelin. Side two is probably my favorite side of any album of anybody.
Consider that Led Zeppelin 1 and 2 were released /recorded around the same time as Hendrix's Electric Ladyland album as well as the Beatles Get Back / Let It Be album, The Ballad of John and Yoko, and ... Abbey Road.
Pretty heady times...
Ramble On is one of my top five.
I love how you really want to get into the deep cuts. The deep cuts are the songs that are deeper in the album and are not the big hits
in top ten greatest Rock albums in history
love your stuff man, your music taste is so unique. i can’t lie bro you need to listen to ‘the doors’, they will blow your mind in the same way the beatles do. crazy psychedelic sh*t. trust me, the doors are gonna be your jam man.
When you come to The Song Remains the same live album you must react song by song and see them as well as hear them. The live performance was at Madison Square Garden 1973😂 I recently bought the movie of that concert i watch it all the time its Epic❤
Do you see how much it helped to just listen without the lyrics? :) Led Zeppelin is like a rock super team where every member excel at their craft. Oh, and sometimes when the guitar sounds dreamy and cinematic it's because Jimmy Page is using a bow (like a cello or violin bow).
Hell yeaa
Shitt you should check out Strange Days by The doors one of my top fav 60’ s album dropped in 67 yessirrr
PS. After you listen to their fifth album, Houses of the Holy, be sure to check out the live soundtrack album of their concert film, The Song Remains the Same. The film is a classic, but the music stands out more clearly without the visual distractions.
