Ten Years Gone is a beautiful masterpiece, about a girlfriend of Plants making him choose between his music or her. Thankfully he chose his music, otherwise we’d be missing all this greatness, this was before Led Zeppelin.
Ten Years Gone..absoultely the MOST underated Zep song ever. Should be considered right up with Kashmir and Stairway. My god, beautiful lyric,s Planty belting it out and soft voice, Page, with his guitar 'army' showing off on studio version. All the guitars why love the Black Crows live version circa 2000 tour v. best of Zep recordings '77 US tour and Knebworth '79. Wish could have at least tried at Celebration Day reunion in 2007.
It has been such an incredible blast going on this journey with you… no matter what hurdles life has thrown down along the way. Don’t let it stop here! I know their final two albums do not get the same universal love as the first six, but I think that’s crazy talk! Both Presence and In Through The Out Door are just as musically diverse and enthralling as everything that came before! They are both very worthy of reactions! And then once you’ve listened to all their studio cuts, you will finally be ready to witness the 28 minute masterwork of musical sorcery that is Dazed & Confused MSG 1973. I swear to you that Jimmy Page sold his soul to ancient unknown force so he could prove for those 28 minutes that he will forever and always be the greatest guitarist of all time!
I just posted a comment from Dave Grohl nearby where he said that Jimmy was "a genius possessed," and that theiur concerts and albums must have been like exorcisms for him, lol.
That was an awesome epiphany! You got it exactly right! Jimmy Page is the star of Led Zeppelin! They were all amazing, but this was Jimmy's project to begin with, and he was always the star of this band. It was he and Peter Grant (Led Zeppelin's manager) who compiled the band to begin with. And Jimmy produced every one of their albums. I was fortunate to have met Mr. Peter Grant many years ago, and contrary to popular belief, he was a true gentleman. Peter was not happy that Jimmy was never truly given the credit he deserved for being perhaps the worlds greatest music producer. Well Jimmy will always get that respect from me. To me It's Jimmy Page and Sir George Martin, and then everybody else. As always Dre, fantastic reaction! Peace
The Black Country is a coalfield region in England. Funny how some of these songs had you yearning for the harder sound of Houses of the Holy which was decried at the time as Zep going soft.
Absolutely spot on… Led Zeppelin is Jimmy Page’s band in all the ways. He had the idea, he hired the others, most of the songs were built around his guitar riffs, and he produced all their albums. We’re so used to the singer being the band leader nowadays that’s it’s become hard to think outside that box. Robert Plant once described Led Zeppelin as an incredible trio of musicians who let some wedding singer jam along with them!
Oh and black country woman is not a racist song it's a region of the UK, and sick again is not Robert being a paedophile it's about young groupies that follow bands around lol..........
Absolutely enjoying it, it's good that they put everything that fell off the previous albums plus new material on this double album. And between the new material and the omitted songs there is no difference, these guys are amazing.
@@grahamfay2473 "Oh please" right back atchya, lol. Overrated? The Mick Taylor years? Nah, man, they're no Zeppelin, but 1968-1973 they didn't miss, imo.

This was the second Led Zeppelin album I ever listened to and I absolutly love it still. It's in my #2 spot behind Houses Of The Holy. I hope you grow to appreciate the songs like Night Flight and Bron Yr Aur more. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band tied with Black Sabbath, and I can't wait to watch your reactions to those albums! Sabbath will definently have that heavier sound you were looking for here. Tony Iiomi is my favorite guitarist.
I get why you split it up, but I do think that listening to the whole album in one go would've enhanced the experience for you maybe - like listening to it for the first time and going from Kashmir and then into In The Light right after made me feel physically ill (in a good way) - like it was criminal for two amazing heavy hitters to come one after the other like that. The "slow walk" in the beginning of In The Light feels appropriate after Kashmir, for example. Going through it in one go also emphasizes that the track order for this album is perfect imo, like the White Album in terms of shifts in feel and texture
I totally agree with Darius for any newbies: Journey with Darius from the git-go, go back to LZ I and see him become increasingly (tho quite rapidly) gobsmacked by what these boys are capable of! I feel lucky to have happened to algorhythm-found Darius from the jump. Reminds me of "Airplay Beats"--two brothers who have the same kinda gradual "OMG wtf ARE these guys?" in their reactions as they do the "Zeppathon," very gratifying for us Zep fans, lol!
@@joescott8877 To Mito Reacciones did song by song album by album, in between albums he picked some lives. We are finishing up CODA, I’ve loved the journey with him from the very beginning. It’s great seeing people become fans of the mighty Led Zeppelin.
@@sicotshit7068 Hey. Yup, and I've been with To Mito from the start as well, tho I sort of slacked off after he got done with PhysGraf. Love that he always did so many live vids concurrent with the albums. THAT's the Science, lol! I'd also rec. Crystal Shannon. She chops the songs up like Darius, but, like him, often has very insightful comments. You can tell she loves the soft, but doesn't REALLY dig the hard rock side of Zep that much, and is more obviously blown away by The Beatles and Pink Floyd, who she says even more interesting things about.
@@joescott8877 what I loved is he didn’t talk a lot during or pause a lot, you got to enjoy the music & then hear his thoughts. I loved he bought the albums after he reacted to them, showed he truly loves Zeppelin. I too love Airplay Beats, you could tell they are now Zeppelin fans, I suggested they do lives now. Sad thing many say they want comments, but never answer, or show a response. I search for Zeppelin reactions, more then other bands, because they’re my favorite band.
@@sicotshit7068 Yeah, and FR there are some fake-ass reactors/reactions out there, and u can often sus them out quickly. Airplay Beats will be honest and say , like Darius, if a song, Zep or otherwise, aint doing it for them, which I appreciate cos when they DO go apeshit over something u know it's real. I have a few fav reactors too, and Zep is my fav band as well.
@@joescott8877 yes because not everyone will love every song, though Zeppelin have far more great songs then other bands, there’s a few not high on my list. I just found out something cool, maybe you knew it. The band went back to Headley Grange, at least to record Kashmir, Bonham’s drums once again were set up in the stairwell. I love hearing tidbits I didn’t know before, also a different engineer then LZ IV. Some reason JPJ wasn’t there, the band hung out playing Elvis songs.
Boogie With Stu is an old Ritchie Valens song ("Oooh, My Head"), done Zep's way. Ritchie was a bright young light shining out of southern Cali in the early days of rock'n'roll. He tragically passed on "the day the music died." Valens, Buddy Holly, and The Big Bopper all died in a plane crash in Iowa on a snowy night. Check out his biopic, "La Bamba," the title of his most popular song. LOL I just hit that "hootenanny shit"...fucking hilarious because that song is truly hootenannyish with the stompin' and all. 😂😂😂 Welcome back, man! Hang in there, man...life always carries on...be strong!
Legend brother lovin the journey! Boogie with stu is with Ian Stewart who was a founding member of the Rolling Stones but became an unofficial member playing piano on a lot of their albums, he was a few years older and just wanted to play piano not the fame and he always played the same type of music haha
Greatest album ever made. Yeh tastes are taste. But to expect every song to be epic is a little too much. Light and shade is important with the flow of an album. But correction on plants voice. Over half the songs were recommended when his voice was at its peak. Nighflight was recorded for 4 album, same as down by the seaside. Of the 15 songs only 8 are new. The rest failed to make previous albims going back to 3. So not surprising some of it sounds b side ish . I think they made right decision to include all extra inreleased tracks. .
You should listen to it again at some point, especially letting it run without pausing (not hating on that, since I know that’s the whole point of your reactions), but when you listen to it all the way through and let each track flow into one another, the moments that didn’t click with you at first will definitely click. Amazing album.
This album is mostly comprised of songs that didn't make the cut on previous albums. Did you notice that Houses of the Holy song was on this album but not on the Houses of the Holy album? Not that the songs were 2nd rate but rather they didn't fit the mood of the album it was intended to be on or time constraints. Also, in my time of dying was recorded in 1 take.
love your reactions and thoughts on everything. btw you said some of these seemed like b-sides, and that made me realize that there was a real b-side song called "Hey Hey What Can I Do" that wasnt on any album. maybe you can hit that as a bonus sometime! keep on keepin on
Great to have you back lad. You left too much of a gap....I get your White Album comparison, so with that in mind, If you'd listened to it in one go, you may have experienced it differently. Also, some of the stuff on disc 1 was recorded between 71 and 73 if I'm correct. They were a little rawer then and apparently Robert damaged his vocal cords at a Japanese gig in 71 and he could never quite hit those high notes again. Disc 2 has more stuff from 74/75. Also, you gotta do Jimi soon. I can't wait to see that. Especially if you watch some live stuff. Same applies with Zep actually. Albert Hall 1970 takes some beating. Keep up the good work, brother! 🙂
you should listen to the velvet underground and nico next. it’s an incredible psychedelic album inspired. the band formed after listening to rubber soul and bob dylan.
I watched all your Beatles videos and enjoy seeing you react to the 2 good songs on this half in "10 Years Gone" and "By Down The Seaside" but please listen to Highway 61 Revistied and Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan it will blow your mind how Bob pre dates the beatles in writing there own songs and by 65 destroys them. Beatles write Help and Bob writes Desolation Row

The ones that drive me nuts go crazy saying they love them, then only listen to 2 or 3 songs, they miss so many great ones.
Welcome back, man!
I think they made right decision to include all extra inreleased tracks. .
15:18 that's jimmy playing guitar through a Leslie speaker which is usually used for an organ. JPJ is on keys !!
Sick again is about the groupie scene of the era.
You should listen to it again at some point, especially letting it run without pausing (not hating on that, since I know that’s the whole point of your reactions), but when you listen to it all the way through and let each track flow into one another, the moments that didn’t click with you at first will definitely click. Amazing album.
Let it Be and Past Masters Vol. 2!
The song Let it Be would be good for your soul right now, I suspect. Hey Jude (on past masters), too! Best.
You are so damn hilarious 😂❤ Please check out Joni Mitchell Blue album ❤❤❤
This album is mostly comprised of songs that didn't make the cut on previous albums. Did you notice that Houses of the Holy song was on this album but not on the Houses of the Holy album? Not that the songs were 2nd rate but rather they didn't fit the mood of the album it was intended to be on or time constraints.
Also, in my time of dying was recorded in 1 take.
love your reactions and thoughts on everything. btw you said some of these seemed like b-sides, and that made me realize that there was a real b-side song called "Hey Hey What Can I Do" that wasnt on any album. maybe you can hit that as a bonus sometime! keep on keepin on
Just watch the pink Floyd movie ""The Wall"" people watch that and the Wizard of OZ look into it. Have fun 🔥
Album Presence is next,, some real gems there!!
If you want Country Gospel, check out Raising Sand. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Won album of the year in 2009.
gotta do black sabbath - paranoid album !!
We miss you
We always partied when we listened to these tunes. 😂 Some songs we still don't know the lyrics after all these years.😅
Great to have you back lad.
This is the best LZ album to ever exist
Especially the first 5 albums are 10 out 10. But if my back is against the wall, physical graffiti is number one album of all time.
@@gsxrkz I fully agree
Missed u bro!
you should listen to the velvet underground and nico next. it’s an incredible psychedelic album inspired. the band formed after listening to rubber soul and bob dylan.
And JPJ on the keys!
Hey Darius, the Black Country is an area outside of London. The song isn't about a black woman but a woman from the black country.
Sick Again is about the groupies
