Good attitude. Good reasoning. Good results.
My X95 is my favorite rifle in my collection. While it’s not perfect with the right training to me it’s the most efficient PDW in a rifle platform
I agree. Stay tuned for this release Saturday. I think you’ll like it!
Man I’m really digging this rifle! That steel case is just inherently weak
Just needed a little break in to run the weak stuff. No issues at all with the m193 stuff.
I bought one today with 10 double end mags that fit 10 rounds on each side!
Total of 200 rounds of aguila
Shot evry one and not one issue at all!
And The last 40 rounds i dumped them as fast as possible doing speed reloads!
This is definitely my new go to gun!
Going to test out the dots/scopes/prisms that i have on my outher rifles before deciding how im going to set it up!
For me this is a 10/10 and worth evry dollar!
I bought a Siberian SVR2 and a type 81 LMG in the last two weeks and i don’t see myself really wanting to shoot them in the near future lol
I have an X95 no failures at all. However, I do not run steel case. I do not run it in ARs either. Do not like SC ammo. Love X95
Excellent review. Really glad you stuck with it until it started working. Now I know what to expect with mine haven't shot it yet
My X95 has ran flawlessly from the get-go. That being said, they DO have a pretty stiff action out of the box. Running the charging handle one can tell the rifle may struggle cycling weaker loads. I think the bolt needs to be ran well-lubricated, and the more cycling of the action, the smoother the rifle should become. Happy shooting!
Thanks for the review ..I brought mine out to the range and I had the very same issue. I didn’t clean it..ran it straight out of the box but with .223 ammo. Same thing short stroke. I agree it has to go through a break in process. It does run nice when it does run.
Fun fact: If you remove the bottom picatinny shroud and install the Magpul polymer AFG, it looks like it was born there and feels amazing. You can thank me later!
I personally am looking forward to heavily fondling my own when it gets here in a few days :) Range buddy convinced me, not by words but by letting me send a few rounds down range. And man, this thing is awesome. Super compact, super reliable, super easy to maintain. And chambered in 5.56 with an optional 9mm conversion.
Can be converted to .300blk, too!
@@jeffb5022 Ooooo had no idea, even in Canada? Not sure I've ever seen a 300blk here. But, maybe just not as popular as in US&A :P
Yeah, steel-cased ammo is known to be underpowered and won't reliably feed through the x95.
It seems to have broken in to running it fine. We shall see. I’ll do more videos with it
Man run some quality ammo and stop running that cheap junk overly lacquered bs ammo. You wanna run steel case go buy an Ak.
@@quhectic221st to each their own, personally I want my defensive rifles to run anything it gets thrown at it.
@@thegundungeon I hear you I have an x95 and I have zero problems, but I don’t run steel ammo because it’s trash. 👍🏽
@kevin pierson why? My x95 runs everything just fine now. 😂
We as american shooters like to shoot steel case because it's cheap but remember that this is a combat rifle intended to only ever see M193 brass case and similar full power brass.
They don't tune it specifically to shoot steel because the rifle would never be issued underpowered inconsistent ammo.
That being said if you feed it M193 it will always be a sewing machine and run forever.
Steel good Practice ammo, since it fucks up lol! Get u ready for shit hitting the fan
@@TheGoodOlBoyzChannel Problem with that, is that in most cases unless you have stockpiled lots of brass, steel is gonna be what you're most likely to find in shtf situations. I'm in the market for a bullpup but this is sour to me for such a pricey rifle. Honestly i'm mainly turned off due to the accuracy problems with it over the other bullpups but meh I would work around it.
@@upsidedownpeon9984 Who tf buys steel cased 5.56? And stock piles it? Seriously asking.
Your comment about a defensive firearm being able to feed ANY type of ammo is spot on to me. I never understood some companies being specific about what ammo you could run. This is part of the reason I've never invested in Ruger Mini 30. How many people running 7.62x39 actually have brassed case ammo? Answer: almost none because they own an AK variant that doesn't care.
Excellent content as always!!!
I feel the same way! Thank you!
Steel-cased ammo is cheap, but not reliable enough for defensive use in a gun with a 5.56 chamber. Run the proper ammo, or stick to a cheapo AR that will run it, not a $2K fighting rifle. Amazes me how many people think an expensive gun should run garbage ammo.
@@dbmail545
Cleary you're not understanding
A true battle rifle should run any ammo , anything and everything..
This isn't a super tight tolerance 1 moa safe queen gun
This is a battle rifle should run no matter what
Thanks for the video. I really like this rifle. Have a good weekend.
Thank you and thanks for watching
thank you. :) really like the cute music at the end too!
I ran some tula through mine. Just 20rds with the rifle straight out of the box with the supplied pmag. I didn't have any issues like you did. It's also the only steel cased that's been through it.
Love my x95 300 blackout. SBR without all worries or pistol brace laws and SBR stamp.
Well there goes more of my allowance! Actually I might need an increase. Good T & E TGD, nice you showed the issues with the factory oil.
I really enjoy this rifle. I have a lot of guns but this is my favorite rifle, now if they would just make it in 6.5 Grendel or 6mm arc lol
@@thegundungeon I am building Nahla a 6 ARC as we speak, great cartridge. Also finished another 6.5 Grendel for her. My stack of 80's is going down lol.
I had the same problems on my first try. It jammed and didn’t feed. I’m hoping that after a few more rounds it’ll smooth out and fire more reliably.
I've had this rifle for 4 years and run a Trijicon TA01 as an optic. It's never liked steel cased .223 ammo much. One thing that does help, keep the chamber lubed up between mags till she breaks in. But, I also noticed steel-cased can also burr up your extractor. Check it after running steel case JIC. Never had an issue with Lake City, Remington, IMI Israeli, or German MEN 5.56 ammo. It's a real nice CQB rifle but $$$$$ is an issue. One thing I do notice, almost no one holds the rifle here in the US the way the Israelis intended. We hold it like an AR. The cutlass guard actually serves a purpose. Place your support hand right in front of the guard and press your forearm into the guard toward the shoulder. It's super stable and you don't need a vertical foregrip.
I actually tried that 6 point hold and I wasn’t a fan of how it felt like I was twisting into it.
@@thegundungeon Folks with longer arms tend to say that. Well, at least you gave it a shot. It worked for me because I'm short :) and my training was mostly fast moving indoor critical incident tactics. Room breeching, hallway movement etc. The X95 is really snappy around corners and doorways. Like you mentioned, that rearward center of gravity make a big difference, especially on a training day when you are going for 8 hours.
I like that rifle. Hopefully it continues to perform. Maybe throw us an update in a short the more u shoot it.
Oh definitely gonna be in future videos lol
Yup. It needs a really good cleaning to get the factory preservative off of the BCG.
Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring... LOVE IT!
I've been eyeballing the x95 since it came out
Gonna pull the trigger on it while I still can ...
I perfer sbrs honestly full 16 inch rifle feels unnaturally long
It's just not natural feeling
Sbrs or best of 2 worlds x95
Gimme that !!
"There can be only one, and it's not you Tavor." - Signed, FN P90. ;)
Lol 😂
Great review, I just have never liked the look of a bullpup. I know they have so many advantages over standard ARs. Keep us updated on how this one does, it might change my mind and cost me some $$ at buds.
I will do, I’m diggin it so far
I have been running a Tavor SAR-21 for almost a decade. I have decided that the advantages of the bullpup platform don't really outweigh the disadvantages. Mine is pretty much just a home defense weapon. The advantage of short LOA is that it is still short with a can.
I was told when I purchased the rifle NOT to shoot steel case through it.
First thing I do when I get home with a new gun is clean and lube it. That gunk they put in the firearm is not lube, its packing grease. Its ONLY purpose is to prevent the gun from rusting while sitting in cardboard in a warehouse.
Don't know why guntubers insist on reviewing guns "right out of the box not cleaned or lubed" since it doesnt really say anything about the gun.
I've never run steel through my X95, but I did have some jams out of the box with brass M193 5.56. Try 20 round Gen 3 P-Mags as well. It seems to like them better than the 30 round Gen 2 that it comes with.
And yes, a good cleaning and proper lube job does wonders.
Mine came with a Gen 3 PMag. Tavors don't like Gen 2 Pmags from my understanding.
@@tobiasfunke3357 that's my experience. The Gen 2's just didn't feed right.
I've heard these really like 62 grain and up, might want to give that a try too
Once it’s broken in it’ll shoot the steel case ammo with no problem, but lube would help tremendously. Love mine and have never had this issue.
Mine never would run on steel Wolf. 100% reliable with "real" ammo.
This one seems to have the bugs worked out with it. We shall see
@@thegundungeon I kinda doubt it will ever run well on steel. My first thought was undersized chamber but the more I shoot it the more I think it is related to delay designed into the gas system. I always felt steel cases do not "spring back" as fast as brass upon firing. Think about how HK had to flute their chambers to be reliable with even brass cases. Just a theory from a knuckle dragger. :)
I had to put a stiffer recoil spring in my SAR-21 to run full pressure 5.56 with a suppressor. I doubt it will run with low-pop .223 at all!
@@mikebender7434 lot of thought went into that. Unfortunately, you are talking out your butt. Steel-cased ammo "springs back" more than brass. Don't believe it? Show me a brass spring. The problem with that gun was the low-pop, short-stroking ammo and the unreasonable expectation that an automatic firearm NIB and never stripped and cleaned would perform as designed.
Hello gun Dungeon . Yea always like this rifle from 🇮🇱 . Great fighting rifle. Their just not cheap on the pockets like ar15 is.
That’s very true. I have more than I want to admit in the full setup lol
I like mine, shoots great too...
Great rifle! Love mine! Short, sweet and compact! Just like me! 🤣
I really like it too. I think the mag change is faster than an ar
Mine was from the get go……..double feeds…….have given a cleaning and lube…..will go again tomorrow
The steel doesn’t conduct heat as well as the brass does, which means it doesn’t expand as well so it doesn’t form a good enough seal to capture all the gas and work the action. Western rifles were mostly not designed to shoot steel case, except for the HK G3
I don't normally like bullpups. I freakin' love the X-95. Improvements would be a Geissele trigger, a Knights Armament flash hider, and Manticore Arms cantilever forend, the curved buttpad, switchback charging handle, and gasket port cover. Lastly, a Radian Talon ambidextrous safety.
It's an expensive rifle and the updates are alot, but it would be perfect. I haven't even mentioned the optic. LOL!!!
I’ve got a few things changed already, stay tuned for the next video!
@@thegundungeon I'm torn on the optical. The Vortex UH-1 Gen 2 or the Elcan Specter. For that rifle...they just fit.
@@ed1968man since it’s not my money, I’m gonna say Elcan lol 😂
Which elcan spector?
@@terencewolfe4181 You're correct. I didn't calrify. The DR 1x4.
That is a sweet color! LOVE flat dark earth. It's a year later now, so how is it running now 5-31-2023?
Failures to feed until it loosens up. Happened with mine too. Came close to taking it back, but it broke itself in just before heading back to the store. What’s your ammo? Steel case ammo is a no-go.
Glad I saw this comment. Mine did the same thing and worked just fine after a 2nd trip tp the range.
The controls can be switched to the other side. So while not ambidextrous, all X95s can be modified/converted for either user preference.
Correct, you do have to buy a lefty bolt though.
@@thegundungeon actually, I'm nearly certain the bolt is also adjustable. The 9mm is for sure, I just rewatched the IWI video on how to do it. I'm currently saving up for mine in 300 BLK and the Tavor in 12 guage (I'm currently finishing a 6.5 AR10 and several Glocks).
That said, amazing video! Thanks for sharing!
Give that Steele case a light rub of gun oil. It’ll feed hundreds.
By the way I see you slapping that mag from the bottom. I’ve heard a few guys experience feed issues doing that especially with the cross mags and P mags. Try just inserting without slapping and see if that helps.
The X95 has only one big difference from the earlier SAR-21, the magazine release. Unfortunately, that ambi button has its own transfer bar so has twice the failure potential from mud incursion. It did very poorly in InrangeTV's. That ammo looked like pretty low power stuff from the 5 O'clock ejection. Never had any issues with my SAR-21, new or dirty. But TBH I never run steel-cased ammo in any of my 5.56x45 guns for just that reason. Not locking open on last round is classic low power short stroking.
I think the trigger was upgraded on the x95 and one of the big selling points for me with the x95 was the better options for mounting on the foregrip.
The transfer bar wasn't the issue, it was the button itself being physically jammed. This is why the button on the left hand side could still release the magazine - the left hand button is the one that is directly connected to the transfer bar, the right hand button is a lever that pushes the left hand button. The MDR works the same way, which is why they were able to fix the first-round malfunction on that one so quickly- it was the exact same failure but they knew what to do from the start because of their experience with the X95.
All that said, the X95 actually has a backup magazine release in the buttstock in case both buttons fail. To be frank, the X95 didn't "do poorly." A pair of youtubers struggled with a simple malfunction because they didn't read the manual.
I’ve had a AUG and a FS2000 for years needless to say I really like the bullpup concept. I just got a X95 I like every thing about it so far except the The sights are so low it put’s a crook in my neck just to look though the sights. Do you guys think they are to low also or is it just me?
My lower 1/3rd skalor works mount is a full cowitness so yeah it’s definitely a low sight rail
@@thegundungeon I’m probably not to far away from you WV I’m really liking your videos so far thanks!
Check out manticore arms overwatch rail. It's awesome.
Never break in with steel case! Brass for the first 200 at least n any gun! Steel is just too unpredictable and swells too much for brand new guns! My X95 comes in this week! Can't wait!
Not really trying to break in. More of a create the worst case scenario for the viewers
The video told me to comment below so here it is
Awesome!
Running steel case ammo in an NEW Rifle LOL LOL LOL What A Goober!
even strait out of the box, it needs a little bit of lubrication.
I've ran hundreds of steel cased ammo in mine, never had a single malfuncition, strange....
Mine runs it fine now just needed a little breaking in I guess.
I have one and the trigger sucks. Will be throwing a Geissele in it net week. The gun is awesome though. I have the Tavor 7 too and that one is even nicer.
Always clean and oil a new gun, that's my personal rule
Yeah I’d agree if I wasn’t shooting videos for you guys lol 😂
@@thegundungeonthat comment makes no sense, are you saying you have no time to clean and oil your guns because you make videos for us lol
The X95 that I shot didn’t like steel cased either.
Mine shoots steal just fine!
Sweeeet!!
I think so too lol
It's normal for it to fail out of the box if you do not clean it. The manual states you need to clean it before using it. It comes with some sort of grease meant to preserve the rifle for long storage before it is purchased. It was not the guns fault it jammed & malfunctioned. Once you shoot enough rounds through it to burn off the grease, it will function 100%. So until you shoot enough to burn off the stuff from the factory, or clean it, you're going to experience what you did in the video. Not the ammo, not the mags, not the guns fault; it is operator error.
If I weren’t doing UA-cam videos I would for sure clean my rifle before shooting. However once it’s cleaned you can’t show how it does without cleaning it. I did still have some issues even after a thorough cleaning, but they went away after not many more mags of good brass case ammo and leaving the bolt locked to the rear for a few weeks while I was out of town. Haven’t had an issue since then with the under powered steel case ammo
For any new pistol and rifle or shotgun. They have to be field stripped / cleaned BEFORE taking to the range......
Very true. However for a review, I only get once chance to try to run it right out of the box. Then I clean and lube.
My X95 wouldn’t shoot SC ammo until 500 rounds in
Seems to be pretty common. I wish the x95 came with the same type of adjustable gas block as the Tavor 7
@@thegundungeon I as well wish it came with adjustable gas block or have the option to add. I was shocked how easy it is to completely disassemble the X95 so it would be such an easy fix.
Would you put regular gas in a Lamborghini?
Forgot to mention…..the carrier group looked like it had some bluish green goop all over it
👍 für den Algorithmus
Ol reliable lol 😂
Consider me Peanut butter & jealous.
The gun is extremely reliable, and battle proven. NOT the el-cheapo ammo.......
El chapó ammo? Wtf. 😂
You just saved me 1700 dollars
its a great gun but for the money i recommend you look at the Keltec rdb. i think you will like it better.
I haven’t seen one in the wild lol
Lol I think I would rather pay double for an actual battle rifle not one pretending to be one ...
@@joshuajames2425 eh I rather pay for the RDB and use the money to actually train on the weapon system like it's a battle rifle. Plus it's made here in America %100 which means I can get spare parts. Also "Battle rifle" is the difference between a black pen and dollar signs.
@@blacklilac1408 battle rifle is the difference between a proven weapon and an unproven weapon…. If you have ever seen the Israeli’s train and fight (they fight daily), you’d be stupid to say this isn’t proven. But whatever you want to tell yourself to help you justify your purchase of a non proven weapon
@@Frostbyte911 most definitely the Tavor x95 is a proven weapon. It's gone through 3 iterations. To my point is that the m16/ar-15 platform is proven over time and because of combat. It started off rough. The Keltec RDB is no less of a rifle because it hasn't been a country's battle rifle. It is a more than reliable rifle, accurate rifle. I plan on taking it to more 2-gun events and hopefully a brutality match. I plan on taking part of the Fort Gordon Mammoth Sniper challenge but pulled out do to budget. I also made my statement because often time a comment made about a certain rifle being battle tested is stated by people who don't train to be battle ready. Anybody who has ran there rifle through a couple classes know that every rifle is "battle proven" until it stops.
I'm quite amused by so many AR fanboys wanting to try the bullpup, but wanting it to be just like an AR. Of course it's different, and if you want the bullpup to perform well you have to adjust to what the weapon requires, not the other way round. If you don't like that, stick to your AR, and forget about all the benefits of the bullpup. Just stick with your over-long short-barreled rifle that is less accurate and less powerful.
[If one is actually talking about true PDWs, then why not follow the example of the US Secret Service and get an FN PS 90? (Of course theirs would be a P90, but you could go the SBR route and have the same short barrel which is still 16inches. This is the ultimate PDW, and more effective than any 9mm based equivalent. After all, they would rarely be used at ranges longer than a few hundred metres.]
Am I the AR fanboy in this scenario? Just curious lol 😂
@@thegundungeon By own admission, yes! 🤣😂
@@dennisleighton2812 new systems definitely require adapting. The x95 is my favorite now but for sure took some training
Wanting to sell?
No sir. One of my favorite rifles lol
Why does every gun channel take pride in testing guns with no lube and no cleaning?
Would you run your truck like that?
Not so much pride, just do it because once the opportunity to is gone, you don’t get it back. Obviously if you were about to put it into defensive use, you’d prepare it properly.
Steel case ammo 😂😂😂
It's not an ak47
Gotta try it. Ya know it would be asked if I didn’t.
