    Great vid! @11:37 that looks like a copper brush not bronze. Something to mention regarding copper brushes that I learned the hard way is to not use strong solvents/cleaners that are designed to remove copper as it interacts with the copper on the brush and mixes around those blueish/green copper oxides in your barrel. Something like clp won't be a problem but for example hoppes no 9 traditional cleaner contains ammonia and it will definitely oxidize copper. Good to remove copper fowling but I tend to keep it away from copper brushes.

      Wow this is great info. You are right, it is copper. And I will definitely be careful and make sure I don't use and hard solvents. I usually just use some Lucas contact cleaner and CLP so should be fine. :)

      You know, I share your sentiment about bullpups :D I am a HUGE gamer, and I never liked bullpups. Not in real life, not in games... Just never found them particularly attractive. But, by the same token, I am a function over form kind of guy. And when I first picked up my buddy's Tavor and fired it, I got a feeling that I never experienced before. Power, precision, control, confidence. It was AWESOME. I took the leap - I have never had a failure of any kind with my Tavor, and it continues to perform amazingly well, even after a full year of regular use and thousands of rounds down range. There is something magical about this rifle.

      First of all thank you for your service. Secondly, as for cleaner and CLP, each have their uses, strengths and weaknesses. CLP is generally great, but in my opinion it's beneficial to have a dedicated solvent to clean up the stubborn carbon and other deposits - especially in the barrel.

    Thank you so much for the video. I'm a new gun owner and it's very helpful.
    May I ask how often should I clean my X95? And do I need to wipe out the gun oil on the bore and the action everytime when I want to shoot?

    • @canadianoperator
      @canadianoperator  4 місяці тому

      My pleasure. It depends how often you shoot. I usually clean mine every 2-3 range visits, so usually every 400-600 rounds.
      Oil is good in your action, but not helpful in your barrel (at least not when shooting). The reason I use an oiled patch in the barrel is because oil does help to pick up quite a bit of residue, and I’ve personally found that using it in conjunction with a solvent or cleaner is a great way to keep the barrel free of coupling.
      But it could work against you of course if you have too much oil in your barrel, as it can attract more debris as you shoot. So I’d recommend running a dry patch through to pick up excess oil before you shoot.
      A small amount of oil left over from cleaning though should be absolutely fine as it will generally be expelled through shooting anyway.
      Hope that helps :)

    Random question, not sure why this happens (talked to IWI support too, they saw it in their shop x95) after taking my x95 apart, there seems to be a bit of trigger slap when you first prime the handle. Have you experienced this? when you chargec in the video, sounded smooth and straight through... mine (and others) seem to have extra sound/movement.

      Always been nice and smooth for me. That’s odd. Though, I know that some of these are made in USA and some in Israel. I also know that US made guns must have a certain percentage of their parts also made in the USA. This might be worth exploring. And bringing up to IWI.

    Awesome guide. im new to the gun scene still awaiting my Rpal/Pal to come through. was wondering I always wanted an AR-15 which is banned now. are there any alternatives that you can recommend that are legal for 556? perhaps a cool video Idea?

    • @canadianoperator
      @canadianoperator  9 місяців тому +1

      DEFINITELY a cool video idea and something I will absolutely consider. For now though there are VERY limited choices with respect to AR platforms in Canada.
      Obviously I am going to recommend the Tavor. No, it's not an AR. However it is a very dependable, flexible and reliable rifle platform that has yet to find a way to disappoint me.
      For the AR-15/AR-10 route, there are some options that are similar, but not quite the same.
      There are the WK-180 series (basically AR-180) which look cool but I wouldn't be comfortable recommending even the Gen 2 because both the company that makes it and the firearm itself are not ....let's just say, very reliable. From the company side of things I have heard horror stories with respect to customer support, or a lack thereof. From the firearm side, extremely unreliable with serious (albeit at least expected) failures, such as the gas piston rod literally falling off the gun. Not good. But, it is an option if you wanna gamble.
      There's also the Raven 556 which seems like a much more solid, though expensive option. Not much heard about this as it's relatively new, however very interesting thing to keep an eye on.
      There were also the MCRs from the two Canadian companies that worked with Wolverine Supplies to produce them. While a lot more reliable than the 180s based on my research and from what I've heard, they can be very difficult to find, and I am quite sure they are no longer being sold.
      Higher in price and reliability yet is the CZ Bren 2 MS series. Although bearing a closer resemblance to the SCAR platform, they are about as close as we can get to a high end rifle and they look and shoot amazingly well.
      If you don't mind a 5.56 in a bolt action (save some ammo maybe? :P) I really like the MRX Bison Ranger from Black Creek Labs. It looks JUST like an AR--15, and with all the fixins' to boot, but of course it's bolt action. What's great though is you get a fantastic trigger from the factory, as well as a really nice muzzle brake. And, you get custom, proprietary 20 round MRX magazines.
      There is also the Crusader Templar which looks a little like if an FN FAL and a SCAR had a baby, but to be honest I have had zero experience nor have I heard much (good or bad) about this one.
      Hope this helps!

    • @timberwolf007
      @timberwolf007 9 місяців тому +2

      Yes, I can suggest the Canadian made non-restricted AR style WK 180-C Kodiac defence Gen 2.
      Lots of AR accessories/ upgrades available to customize to your needs.
      Mine is stock. I just added a magpul vertical grip, a scope and bought 10 round AR cross 223/556 pistol clips and 2 AR LAR clips.
      It comes with a 5/30 pinned clip. Looks good but the pistol clips are the way to go.

      Almost not at all honestly. If it was the 300 blackout or 9mm there would definitely be need of that, and quite often. But with the 5.56 I don't think you even need to touch it honestly, as far as I remember from the manual it doesn't even show you how to do it - but it does talk about the gas system in the 300 blackout and 9mm versions. The first time I removed the trigger pack, I somehow pulled the cover/bolt catch out too far and I had a time figuring out what the problem was, so be careful to not pull it too far.
