I've owned a Tavor 7 for 3 years. Used it a bunch for hog hunting in Texas. My experience has been that it does battle rifle things. 2-3 moa with most 150-165 grain hunting loads. 4-5 moa with crappy ball ammo. 1-2 moa with Federal 168 grain GMM. Great rifle and works well with night vision and suppressors. Not a match rifle, but it gets real world work done 👍
I remember IWI delayed this rifle initially cuz they couldn't get 1 moa which is something the US market loves and wants. Bought it anyway. Reliability in environment tests were outstanding. Sub moa on this calibre in bullpup configuration is a tall order.
I woulda owned one as well if I could buy one in austria. But then again there is the accuracy side and 1-2 MOA at best doesnt do it for me when it comes to taking deer life. I would hate myself if I would hit one bad
That's exactly what I'm looking at buying one for hog hunting at night with a thermal scope thought it would be a much more compact package to ride around with at night constantly scanning out the window than the long ruger sfar with suppressor
@@hasuchObe From what I've heard, they did try make it 1moa but that can't pass their durability/reliability standards. So the final version avg ~1.5MOA. Which I don't have problem with. Since it is meant to be a battle rifle anyways. And I don't find bench shooting a bullpup that fun nor advantageous.
I have a Tavor 7 and consistently pull 1-1.5 MOA at 100 yards. After experimenting with different rounds, I found the PMC X-TAC, 147gr 7.62x51 is a more accurate round for me. I also started running these rounds in my various AR 10's and found increased accuracy and enhanced feed and ejection performance. This is my experience but others may not have the same experience, it comes down to the shooter, the optic, and the guns zero.
Considering this one carefully. I have a Tavor 95 in .300AAC and it's been sweet. The short profile in an intermediate caliber is a great combo. It's more than accurate enough for the relatively CQB
I agree completely with your assessment of the role regarding the tavor. I’ve read a lot of bad things regarding the accuracy and wanted to put it to the test myself and show my viewers what I concluded, and honestly I’m tickled with the results, even though it’s intended purpose isn’t to shoot sub Moa groups lol.
I’ve owned my T7 for about 2 years now. It eats anything I feed it with good accuracy but also has way less recoil than my PTR 91. I can highly recommend.
Ive had My Tavor for about 2 years now. And I've found it to be an excellent Hunting rifle for brush and rough terrain. If you want to take it to a range I recommend Federal match or X-tac (if you can find it). For hunting (especially hog) anything 165+ has worked fine for me. The biggest thing about the gun for me is just how easy it is to carry on a long hike when im hunting in the mountains or heavy brush. The Bullpup design makes it easy to snap aim for follow up shots, which if you've ever hunted hog, you know is must. The other big thing is how INSANELY easy the Tavor 7 is to clean. The bulk of the assembly just slides out the back after you push a single pin out of the way and hinge the butt plate down. Also the aftermarket for it is awesome. Manticore arms makes a lot of furniture for it. There even a company that makes an after market cutlass grip that will take the grip intergrated Bipod for the x95 now. Its a great gun and its super fun to shoot. Get yourself one.
I really dont understand everyones logic with this gun. It doesnt need or deserve the high grain "match" ammo. Every review everyone uses match ammo and complains about bad accuracy. I only feed mine 147 grain mil-surp and get at most 1.5 moa at 100 with 4x acog. Its a battle rifle, not a precision semi auto
Had one like this and I loved it, but hunting was kind of hard to find in my area so I only played with it on the range until it destroyed all of my steel targets. Ammo was also getting expensive so I ended up selling it.
Excellent! Appreciate the test, 308s are not cheap nowadays. In Canada, we get 20 inch barrels in Tavor 7 because of the gun laws. That makes the rifle a bit heavier but also a little more velocity at the tip of the barrel. Mine loves PPU NATO rounds but absolutely hates the Norinco 308 (haha what are the odds)
With Norinco there was no malfunction at all, but grouping is way too poor (avg. 4.5 MOA) compared with PPU's (avg. 2 MOA). Guess that's my definition of a barrel hates a type of bullet. @@zipdoa
I have both the barrels and the 20” shoots better and is more accurate. It loves any of Hornady a 168’s over 2520. The short barrel likes 150’s and its 2+ish on a good day. The 20” is always 2moa or less. I have a lot of European 7.62x51 and both shoot it fine too but even then the 20 doesn’t open up much. I wonder if it’s a harmonic problem? My long barrel is green so perhaps it’s the color😂
Thanks for the video. I appreciate you getting some good bullet variety down range. Im curious how these would do with the other range of bullet weights, like a Barnes 130gr, given the 1:12 twist.
Thank you! And thanks for watching. I’m sure this isn’t the last you’ll see of this rifle on the channel. I plan on working up an accurate load for it and seeing what I can get it to do. I’ll be sure to run some other factory loadings through it to and video it.
The 1-12 twist has been handling 125 through 200 grain bullets in this caliber since it's civilian inception. 165-168 appears to a common sweet spot, but the 147-150 grain do very well. 130 grain should do well with any rifle using a 1-12 twist in .308, depending on one's hand loading experience/knowledge.
I believe the 1:12 twist barrel is rated to 170 grain projectiles. I've shot up to 185 grain projectiles though. The 185s stabilized but shot a 3 moa group. The federal 168 gmm load shot about 1.5 moa consistently.
Appreciate the video. Got the x95 the t7 been on my next list, just been looking for more accuraacy tests with a decent scope, not a red dot, nor a 20x
If it had a shorter 13" barrel that didn't protrude past the gas regulator, & a cool looking sci-fy (Mass Effect style) paint scheme, I could see this looking like a futuristic photon cannon.
I came close to buying this rifle in 2021, decided not to because of the accuracy. I own a X95 and Gen 1 Galil Ace, I figured the Tavor 7 was a home run considering all were made by IWI. Why the twist ratio is 1:12 is a mystery, most accurate 308 rifles are 1:11. The price was the deciding factor. I refuse to pay that amount for a 308 that is as inaccurate as that. Makes more sense to me to pay a little more and get a actual 1 moa 308.
Much more mild than the bolt actions I can compare it to. I’m sure some extra heavy long range setups will be different but this recoils less than standard hunting bolt actions
