i'm going to add this: CROSSBODY BAGS. i love crossbody bags that I wear as a long shoulderbag, because they create the illusion of a longer torso and draw the attention towards my lower body. Short shoulderbags or those bags that fall just below my armpit or between my arm and torso make my upper body look more stuffy.
I recently realized I have a short torso & long legs, and I'm fine with it! Now I know why certain cuts look a certain way. I think it's common with hourglass shapes.
I adore blazers, too! I feel so frumpy in cardigans, so if I need that level of comfort, like for a chilly office or restaurant, I’ll wear one of my knit blazers. These are as comfy as cardigans, but the tailoring makes all the difference. I like a small shoulder pad in blazers, to help take up the extra fabric across my narrow shoulders - I can’t size down too much because of my full bust and waist. If a blazer won’t comfortably close, no deal, I need the warmth. My big limitation is that I can’t wear polyester, so blazers without poly linings or outer fabric are a must, but nearly impossible to find. Banana Republic is offering breathable rayon-lined ones, so they’re getting most of my wardrobe budget!
I love love love the fact that I found your channel! I'm 19 and I've always been confused why I don't look good in current fashion, everything _super_ high waisted and crop tops (I actually do like crop tops, but wearing them all the time with mid-rise jeans can make me feel a bit exposed sometimes🙈), and it's because of my super short torso hehe. I'm still figuring everything out (I'm that girl who always wears t-shirts and mid-rise jeans, because I never know what else may suit me) but I'll keep watching your videos to get ideas! Btw I'm 5'4, 36-27-38 with broad shoulders :)
I gotta say I've really been into mock necks this past year or like super high halter tanks for the summer. I started noticing that I just always felt better in anything with a high neck and then the color block thing hit me about the proportions and i was like oooooooh yeah that's why i like it more... I look proportioned now. XD
I think shoe size 8.5 is perfect for your height, Jules. My feet are undersized (hands, too) for my height, so I like to make my feet look a bit more substantial or longer. I can look like I had foot-binding, a bit off-balance and top-heavy, otherwise. Having such small feet isn’t an asset. I’m one of the few who loves the “Don’t” look of an ankle boot with a midi skirt, so long as the boot is narrow enough for my ankle and lower calf, it’s not easy to find. My legs are not only long, they’re way too skinny, especially in the calves. I have a really delicate frame, small head, and am not well-muscled, either, which can give me an undersized look, even at my perfect weight.
My fav is the white shoes and the mock neck. Do you have a video on skirts? I would love to see your take on skirts :) but in general, I love your tips! 💗 thank you for acknowledging this body type!

I’ve always noticed how disproportionate my body is…short torso, longer legs, 5’2” but 8.5 shoe size, broad shoulders athletic build but small boobs 😭 and makes it hard sometimes to wear certain things that I think are so cute on others. Thank you for your content 🙏🏽🙏🏽 I feel seen and validated and not alone with the short torso
My sister is built a lot like you. I'm envious of her athletic body, but she doesn't appreciate the small boobage. She wears padded bras. You can't tell it isn't natural just by looking at her.
Love your content, the first suggestion doesn't work for me most of the time because I have high and wide hips with my short torso and the blazer flaps over my hips and angled outwards accentuates my pear shape. Also having the bottom of the blazer (horizontal line) makes my hips look bigger and with a short torso I look frumpy. I rather have the blazer just above my hip bones, but above the widest part. If I find a longer blazer that doesn't flap into an inverted V, I will wear a dark one with dark pants or dark jeans. Pear shape gives the short torso extra obstacles 🥴 thank you for the tips on mid rise, so helpful 😁

Some designers cutting templates are based on short waists throughout all sizes, I've found Nicole farhi, french connection, Great plains, Hobbs good so the waistline sits on your waist not hips (where it rucks up). Also 'petite' sizes are higher waisted
I love chunky sweater looks and a few months ago found a crop length that tapers at the waist. Just too bad I don't really get to wear it that often because it doesn't get cold enough most of the time. My ideal rise is 9" but I'm overall petite...kind of feel double whammy in the slightly short torso department 😂 my cousin who is the same height has even shorter torso but she is apple shaped with skinny limbs and found a way to dress to look tall and lean pretty easily. She pretty much embraces the short torso and emphasize the long legs and it works for her. I feel it's a little easier to dress than when you are hourglass shaped or pear shaped and are short or have short torso. I apply a lot of your tips except the hem since I'm short I don't need to make my legs shorter like you 😁 Overall I think your tips has been the most helpful compared other UA-camrs I've watch who are petite even though you are taller than me

Wow, i suspected throughout some of your other videos that your body size/shape is VERY similar to mine. Your comments about breast size and bras were so relatable to me, in addition to the short torso. But this video confirmed it...8.5 shoes and 5'5" tall is what I was wondering when I realized you're my same bra size 😂 I'm also 5'5" and wear 8.5 shoes lol So...if you could just send me your entire wardrobe that would be lovely!!
AG jeans have a lot of mid rise jeans and they fit like a dream! I’ve been on a major hunt for flattering jeans in that rise lately and they are the best I’ve come across. Some Frame jeans have that rise also.
What do you make of skirts? You pretty much have to tuck your shirt into a skirt and usually the top of the skirt needs to be at the thinnest part of your waist, which is obviously high up on short torso'd ladies. I feel like I cant wear skirts because they'd just eat up more of my torso.
Long time experience, here: #1. narrow waistband; #2. same or similar color blouse and skirt; #3. poof your blouse over the waistband slightly, which creates the illusion of a longer torso.
I find that original Levi’s 501s work well, the waistband sits right below the navel on me. The men’s cut works a lot better for my thicker “waist”, I don’t have much waist definition at all. I like the feminine details on women’s jeans, like the smaller, higher pockets, but have never found a pair that fits in 50 years of trying. (I’m 5’4”, very short torso). Jules, I have a very short upper torso, shoulder to waist, but it’s long from waist to leg break, which adds a lot of the length to my legs. Could you address this? Thanks.
Hey Kay! When it comes to mom jeans, I think the stretchier the better. That way they’re more forgiving if you need to pull them down. Target is my current fav for comfy stretchy jeans!
