Disenchantment Part 3 dropped last week and we got to see a couple more examples of this cool Ancient Alphabet slash Language that we got a hint of back in Part 2. The writers and creators of Disenchantment are no strangers to these alphabet ciphers, either. Back in Futurama they created not 1, but 2 different alien languages that were translated by fans and used to decode background gags and easter eggs. With Disenchantment’s ancient script, they’ve been a lot more withholding of examples within the show, so join me as we decode this ancient script!

My favorite was how the show wasn't even a little bit subtle about Dagmar selling them Freckles. I was stunned that Bean didn't make a 4th wall comment about it, to be honest.
but it also makes me think that it could be a red herring i mean it could just be some other woman with white hair and there just doing this as a massive misdirect
@@aawallace98 I guess that could be... It’s just kinda like how so far we know the white hair thing to be almost exclusive for Bean and her mother. It seems like a huge twist in design to change it up for a throw
@@sillystringsoup4438 a bit of a more far out theory i have is that bean or her decendents may time travel at some point and its her from the future and gave zog the doll as it was what ultimately allowed her to take the thrown
@@sillystringsoup4438 There's at least one noble woman with white hair. She was present in some of the chapel scenes, though I don't remember which exactly. She's not just stuffed in the background either, I think she had a couple of speaking lines. I remember noticing her because I wondered if there might be some twist about her later since you're right that the white hair is almost exclusive to Bean and Dagmar
My favourite was how freckles could already be seen in the first five minutes of the first episode of the first season.

Love how they put the little hidden things through out the shows I loved trying to figure out the ones in Futurama
I love one of the X-mas episodes had an alienese sign that translated to Joyeaux Noel. Because of the whole thing from the Professor's universal translator that only translates to French, which is described as "some incomprehensible dead language."

Mop girl says: "we all call her Freckles behind her back!" about Bean during the play writting episode, could the citizens have their own stories about Freckles? Or just a foreshadowing nod to Freckles?
What an awsome thing to see, right after I finish decoding the message myself. lol.
Also, back in part 2, Miri says they call Bean Freckles behind her back, and Dagmar refers the puppet as being like her child. So there's some extra bits for ya.
This show is so filled with Easter eggs it's insane. I like that they've been using it more for foreshadowing than as a gag.
I feel like if they give us good pay-offs for the MANY set-ups they're doing, this show would be easier to recommend to non-viewers, even if the comedy doesn't hit as well as Futurama. So much stuff has been introduced since episode 1, so it makes subsequent watches more enjoyable!
I honestly love the show and tbh the jokes are great, they work with me.
I theorized that Freckles was sentient from the moment he was introduced to Zog! I'm so excited to see more. Thanks for your video Johhny! Love your videos.
Not gonna lie, I thought it would be like that episode of Jimmy Neutron with the dummy. Freckles could slowly suck the life out of Zog until Freckles came to life.

Disenchantment isn't outstandingly amazing BUT I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to future episodes.
For me disenchantment is almost outstanding because i love cartoons like futurama and american dad but they aren't meant primarily for women. I feel like disenchantment is meant primarily for women viewers which makes it so unique. Anyone can watch the show obvi but it's nice to see a relatable female lead in such a funny cartoon.

I absolutely love stuff like this. I've been fascinated with it since Unknown popped up in Pokemon, and uncovering it in Stardew Valley was a lot of fun. It's still astounding to me that we only *just* solved the 340 cipher.
And now we know who the Zodiac Killer himself might've been
I love the show, my all time favourite. I like how the show runs with a single story, not like the Simpsons where there would be a different story every episode.

I had a realization that we don't know what Rebecca (Dagmars sister) looks like out of outfit. I even wondered if she was the one that gave Freckles to Zog and Bean and that's why they didn't recognize her as Dagmar. What if Rebecca is a twin to Dagmar or something?

I think it's interesting, I might have to incorporate an ancient language or some other runic language in in a universe I created and am working on.
Notice how the last king with his page intact is Sløgg, and the first one ripped out is King Tr____? I'm sure nothing will come of that. Nope. Nothing.

This video is fascinating.
I loved this season but I am suffering from a severe lack of closure. It feels like the mysteries were compounded and linked together more than resolved. I really hope this pays off overall but in the meantime I'll be looking to channels/videos like this for the speculation and analysis I crave
I have a feeling that when the series is all said and done, it’s going to be INCREDIBLY rewarding on rewatch. Even just speculating now I’m starting to see how all the pieces could fit together and I imagine the earlier seasons will have SO much to comb through and discover after more information is revealed. I’m really excited, hopefully they get to tell at least a solid 60 eps worth of stories

I got things
Interesting that the curse is cast on all "future rulers" but the book itself is about Mad Kings. Specifically, "The Royal Log from Agog to Zog: A Secret History of the Kings of Dreamland" (Part 3, Episode 2: You're the Bean, 10:10)
I get that there was a law that said Queens couldn't rule (Odval mentioned it in Part 3 when telling Bean why she couldn't rule because the King hadn't declared it so because he was too mad). I would be interested to see if there is something more beyond people who did rule but not as kings, like if Bean says the kingdom is for the people would she curse all Dreamland people? Or is there a time where an interim ruler meant mad between kings? Who knows.
Maybe that's why Bean's ex-fiances all met particularly gruesome fates instead of just running off. Or maybe the curse is asbestos rising from the ruins of the elven kingdom below slowly poisoning the rulers in the castle by giving everyone mesothelioma /s
The "freckles was here" on the same castle that zøg used to go to escape..furthers my theory that freckles is zøgs unconscious self/bad self

Freckles gives me a serious Animatronio character feeling, but makes me think that his origin is from Steamland. I'm probably way off base, but that was the first thing I thought when I saw him being handed over to Zog.

Haha, I do check out Reddit but I try to avoid topics that I’m already speculating about so as not to taint my own speculation. BUT I have seen some really great stuff on there.

So, there is only 1 way that steam land had that put on there. When the lady (the person in the purple dress) was still around. That say that she, at one point, was given the role to eventually take care of the crown, so it is unlikely that she came into power for that role fast, and probably when the head of steam land company (or whatever it’s called) or maybe before that sent her as soon as possible/ as soon as she came into power.
My only thought is that the only reason zog didn’t notice the antenna added, hints that he never really cared for/wanted the crown in first place. I would be really happy if anyone had any ideas/ could elaborate on what I said.

If you want to have some brainy fun with yourself (unless you're watching together with another person) you can learn the known letters by heart, rendering yourself fluent in that language (or "writing system", rather, since it's basically English). That way you can watch new episodes and feel like an insider, understanding everything instantly.

I only took Latin for less than a semester in eight grade in 1998 and since then I learned that Latin pronunciation works a bit differently than I was taught back then. *But* people with my native language have an easy time pronouncing Latin correctly, unlike most (US) Americans. And as far as I can judge, you next to nailed the pronunciation of "quod est occultatom" or "quod est occultatum". (The former spelling looks wrong to me and I couldn't find it online.) The way you pronounce "quod" makes it seem as if it were spelt "quoud". That seems to be the only mistake you make.
