If you’re a Futurama fan, you know that Philip J. Fry is the most important person in the universe. This was a fun mystery that unfolded over the first few seasons, and it even came into play a little bit in the straight to DVD movie Into the Wild Green Yonder. But there’s ONE aspect of the mystery that was never properly explained, and that mystery is of course, who is “The Other.” Well, not really WHO, we know that “The Other” is actually Leela, but what we DON’T know is what “The Other” is or what makes her important. So let’s do a little deep dive into Fry’s destiny as the universe’s savior and speculate as to what makes Leela “The Other.”

The real mystery to Futurama is whether the joke was "I See Weiner" or "Icey Weiner".
DEFINITELY "icey wiener".
Every guy in the cryogenic chambers has one.
@@lawr5764 I always thought the (fake) name was "I.C. Weiner" with initials, otherwise it would fail as a prank call since "Icey or Icy" would be extremely unlikely "real" names.
@@davidbonner4556 Of course it DEFINITELY is "I. C. Weiner"! In one episode... Nibbler actually makes the phone call. He says, "I, period, C, period, Weiner" into the phone.
I fail to see how that fact ruins the joke. It could be pronounced like "icey" or "I see". "Icey" makes for a funnier line because they're frozen. Similar examples from Matt Groening's shows are "I H8 Bart", and "U R 2 cute". It's the same idea that people use for custom license plates. The only example I can think of right now, is a flight instructor whose plate was "AV8R".
@@davidbonner4556 Yes it is, but the point of the prank name is that it's a homophone. The question is, is it meant as a homophone of "I see wiener" or "icy wiener."
Icey weiner
The encyclopod also said that he was going to preserve the DNA of homosapiens. Which fry even addressed it by asking "i thought you only saved the DNA of endangered species?" Then the encyclopod says "farewell". Then exits.
Humans are already endangered... considering humans have genetically and mentally evolved into warfare and environmental manipulation (which as we know messes up alot)

I always imagined nibbler saying "She must be the Other." as a way to trick fry into letting him shove past-fry into the fridge, hence the lack of details.
Seems like Nibbler fooled not just Fry, but most of the Futurama fanbase too.
100%
I always assumed this too
That is how I took it when it first aired.
Yep, I came here to say the same thing.
Nibbler manipulated Fry with Leela because he knew she was the only one that would motivate him
I always just thought Nibbler was lying to Fry and just made it up to get him to go to the future
100%
Same. To me it always sounded like he made it up on the spot. The question of whether or not Fry thought there was anything in the future worth saving seemed like a last-ditch effort, like there was nothing left to the story to help convince him.
@@PotatoesBasket Yes, that's how I saw it as well. His voice and the way of speaking sounds like making something up on the spot.
Yep, my thoughts as well. Reminds me of a joke: In an Arts Museum, the guide looks as one of the visitors angrily and says: "Why are you grinning when I am explaining to you what the artist wants to tell us with his work?" The reply is simply: "I'm the artist."
A friend of mine who is an artist once told me that this is exactly what happens rather often when people look at her work and try to figure out why some details are the way they are. Most often the answer is merely that it was easier to do or looked better etc. and not some hidden meaning behind.

That's literally why I hated English Honors throughout school. I was always the one who suggested things such as "maybe the tree is just a tree," and whatnot.
Maybe the OTHER is talking about how the only reason fry chooses to live is for leela, like in the series finale where he tries to kill himself after not being able to marry her. So without her giving him a motive he would never choose to be the “most important person in the universe”
Exactly!
@@LegendStormcrow She's literally the reason why he chose to save the future when the Other was brought up
I wonder if Leela being the least mutated mutant ever born has something to do with her being the Other.
that sounds pretty likely and not like a BIG universal hero thing, which is one of the reasons i like it!
What if her and fry have a kid with three eyes 👀
@@jmedrano704 She was a mutant, but remember she also had a tail
@@Crazylittlehobbit good point.....I didn’t even think of that even though I’ve seen that episode many times....and I’ll even add that Leela’s eye being exactly where it should be on her face, even though it is singular, would be less of a mutation than a an ear on the forehead...and the Tail just drives it home completely...
@@jeremysiron9622 And Leela's mother had a tail .
I don't think of "The Other" reference as one single thing. More like a partnership that is destined for more, which came true.
That's what I got when I watched the episode
Definitely. Leela was bonny to fry's Clyde, she was a sociopath nutjob along for the ride. Kinda like real life
Idk man, it was saying as something bigger than that.
So I recently rewatched this ep, and my interpretation at the time was that Leela is important as “The Other” as she’s the other important piece of Nibbler’s plan to use Fry to save the universe from the brains. Because Nibbler wouldn’t have access Fry/Leela at all, and thus have no way of completing his mission, if Leela hadn’t insisted on going to Nibbler’s planet and saving the life forms there. It was Leela’s kind heart and empathy towards other creatures that saved Nibbler’s life in the first place. I could definitely see it being part of the Nibblonian prophecy that in 1,000 years, Nibbler would be saved by The Other.
That’s just how I was thinking about it…but honestly your idea of bringing Leela in as a second hero who is essential to defeating the brains sounds much more satisfying! They could definitely tie it in somehow to Leela’s status as a mutant who’s less mutated than is typical, who’s sorta between worlds in a way.
I felt like Nibbler mentioned "The Other" to manipulate the events to go the way he planned. It was a lie to stop Fry from strangling him
It's a self fulfilling prophecy. It means nothing unless acted upon, but acted upon it means everything. He likely tried to lie, but he accidentally told the truth.
What if he stopped himself from giving too much away and the full sentence was going to be ‘she must be the other parent’. Maybe Fry and Leela’s child ends up being some sort of saviour or messianic figure?
Ooh I like that theory
I quite like that one, too.
Ooh interesting and a good gateway for a spinoff
This is what I always thought! I don't even think I ever realized I was making an assumption, that just sounded like what Nibbler was talking about to me.
crackpot theory you say? Don't mind if i do! ZOG IS THEIR CHILD!!!11!!
Honestly I think it just meant she was the Other that they saw in the future helping Fry defeat the Brains. After all, she found Nibbler, she went with him to his planet and helped Fry plenty in the episode.
My interpretation when I watched this episode was that Nibbler made it up on the spot to save the future. After watching this video I’m HYPED for the idea of a full length Futurama movie.
Nibbler is clearly manipulating Fry
Anyone else want to see the little green babies of Kif and technically Leela crawl out of the goo in that movie?
YES! THIS
I would. Very much.
How did this happen?

Futurama the movie imma die lmao
I think the reason Leela is referred to as "the other" is because she's one of the few people to help steer Fry down the right path.
"The other" could just imply the overarching relationship that fry has with leela and he has to hold on to her.
If that's not meaningful I don't know what is.
Her role was giving Fry a reason to choose the future when the time came. Plus she pushes him to become better all the time
I am loving these Futurama videos, and the idea of "The Other" is really interesting with it being so vague as to what it means. Something worth mentioning that either I missed or wasn't mentioned though is that Nibbler does not time travel to freeze Fry it's present day for Nibbler. Nibblonians were 17 at the Big Bang (don't ask). They know of The Other but until Fry travels back, maybe they didn't recognise the name Leela. Still leaves a mystery, but its worth bringing up, I think
The only way that I can figure that the Nibblonians can be 17 at the big bang is that they can leave the universe (what Nibbler does at the end of "Bender's Big Score").
Bringing up "Bender's Big Score," that also made me realize that Fry had the time stamp on his butt throughout the whole Brain Spawn stuff.
@@TheHaddonfieldRegistry the Big Bang is the beginning of space time expansion... it also is the central point where matter, antimatter, and energy are concentrated... so, saying the SPACE we inhabit was here before the Big Bang, is incorrect.
or...she's "the other" because she's supposed to be the soulmate to Fry?
Pretty lame
Maybe, she's the other because she drives fry to keep her and as such the universe safe?
@@SonyDashPie how is it lame? a (soul)mate for Fry, so he won't be alone or lonely? why does it have to be greater than that? I know Futurama did some deep stuff, but not everything has to be, this could just be a simple reference to love & companionship
Yeah that’s all I thought it was
Yeah that’s all I thought it was
Maybe Nibler calls Leela "the other" because he doesn't actually know her name. This is before he becomes her pet.
That's what I always assumed. I never really thought anything more than that, I didn't even know it was a mystery.
Yeah haven't seen the video. But it already sounds like it's a bit of a reach.
I mean, I agree that he called Leela "the other" because he doesn't know her name yet, but, to me, it also raises the question on why he would even need to know about her at that point in time unless she has some kind of meaningful significance to the Nibblonian cause.
@@NoViscosity Nibbler might just have said it to convince Fry there is something worth saving. That doesn't mean she has to play any role at all. Nibbler makes it up on the spot.
@@f.c.laukhard3623 That could be true, but I like to think he does know of her because she is the one that saves Nibbler from the imploding planet and helps save the world from the Brain Spawn and the universe from The Dark One.
Every time you say "once and for all" I hear Futurama Nixon yell "ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!"
I hear the guy from the “none like it hot” video with the little girl eating her ice cream lol
Every time you bring up Futurama Nixon, I think about the great taste of Charleston Chew...and Shankman's Rubbing Compound, of course...
@Crystal KayNine I used to buy them because they were gigantic compared to other candy bars. Plus it's kinda like chocolate taffy. I love how Nixon segues his speech into firework ad placement.
Also, make sure to get Shankman's Rubbing Compound at your local Walgreens. They're the only place that carries it...generally about seven bucks for a small can.
@@johnnyrottenpiss don't forget gundersons nuts
Or Klagnar's human rinds..
Watching the episode, I got the strong vibe that Nibbler was just pulling that out of his butt as a way to convince Fry. It’s very Nibbler tell people what they want to hear to save the universe.
100%
All you need to do is invent the what if machine. Use it to ask what would life be like if Futurama answered why Leela was the other.
I always assumed the other was just "the one who will take care of nibbler".
I feel like the writers leave little crumbs for future shows "just in case." And now we know there's a new batch of episodes, so maybe they'll answer these quesions, as well as a few of the other burning questions.
But I would love to see a full length movie! That would be amazing.
Futurama may have ended perfectly, however, it also sets itself up for a canon reboot.
Also i feel that while futurama ended perfectly it was missing stuff in the middle. This video being just one example.
TL;DR:
I would totally be down for a Futurama reboot or new seasons read the above to find out why lol 😆
I always figured Nibbler was just being manipulative, and playing on Fry's feelings for Leela.
I always thought it was just about her being practically a caretaker in so many scenarios, stopping him from killing himself accidentally.
Fry's lack of a brainwave is significantly less impressive and useful when he lacks the rest of them, too.
Apparently the Universal Time Code translates to "1 I", probably just a small easter egg but maybe they originally intended it to have a deeper meaning?
1 I is also Leela's apartment number
"The old me would have made a joke about that"
@@kelen_tate And in the pilot, Leela's officer serial badge number was "I B D I" or
"one beady eye" 😳
For such a light-hearted comedy show, Fry and Leela have such a deep character relationship. The finale is so bittersweet
I always just assumed 'the other' was Fry's muse and motivation for being heroic.
It always seemed that the series was leading for Fry and Leela to eventually have children. You know it, I know it, we all know it, but somehow we're all just avoiding the obvious. While I wouldn't want Leela's purpose in the grand scheme of things to be reduced to baby maker, there was a few bits of foreshadowing that they were going to have a child such as Fry and Leela's little conversation alone at the end of "Kif Gets Knocked Up a Notch". I think Fry's lack of delta brainwave and Leela's mutant genetics are pretty important together. When Fry reproduced with his grandmother Mildred, another human, the resulting son had a delta brainwave. Perhaps if Fry were to reproduce with Leela their child would retain Fry's lack of a delta brainwave as Leela's mutant genetics may not correct for the absence like it would with another human. It could be through their union that creates a line of descendants free of a delta brainwave.
If the Brainspawn return and the only explanation is “Somehow the Brainspawn returned” we will know for certain the Futurama staff watches your videos
The biggest thing left unused in futurama for me is Pazuzu. Farnsworth was granted 3 wishes and only used 2 in the series
Not having watched this video yet this is my thought:
Leela also helped the Nibblonians when the Brains invaded. I always figured that it was that action that made her "the other".
Ok so before I watch the whole thing, at the time he said “she must be the other” I assumed that the event was the first brain attack and she was the one who informed fry
I agree the whole reason they frose fry was because they needed his brain waves to best the brains, after he does so the first time, the niblonian prophesy nibler speaks of is fulfilled. He bests the brains with the help of the other.
Love your content Johnny! Especially the last video! Keep it up!
Thanks Rusty! More KotH content coming!
You don't know me, but I know where you live...
Leela's also got a status as "the Least Mutated Mutant Ever Born" in the Season 4 episode "LEELA'S HOMEWORLD", so it's clear there was more hinting at Leela's backstory (though they showed her parents and revealed her mutant, not alien heritage) in association with calling her "The Other" (like with Fry's lack of Delta Brainwave, it could be Leela's lack of "extra anythings" that makes her unique beyond human or mutant)
Yes please!!! We NEED another final cinematic movie. What a great idea and doable in this pandemic... omg!! Great idea to make it around Leela too. Ugh we definitely can dream!!!
Her being "The Other" may be more subtle than some big reveal. She is the axes or "oneness" of almost everything that Fry does.
Here is the story I would tell for a Finale: I call it: FRY WARS. Or ATTACK OF THE FRYS.
The Fry that gets trapped in the Brain Spawn dimension is still stuck there. He grows bitter and corrupt by the Brain Spawn. Growing Jealous of the Fry we know that ends up with Leela. Keep in mind, he also has access to very limited dimensional travel.
So what he does, he assembles all the different Frys that met terrible fates and didn’t end up with Leela, including The Fry that dies in The Late Philip J Fry and Lars Filmore.
In the end, I want all the Frys to come together in some way, like Crisis on Infinite Earths situation, where they somehow combine and Fry keeps Lars’ memories of living in the past with his family.
CoIE parodies are done to death. He-man, Transformers, and Ghostbusters already did it because they ran out of ideas.
@@TheHaddonfieldRegistry That is the most minor part of the story I just mentioned.
Maybe "the other" means shes the one who gives fry the hope and something to fight for, providing the drive to defeat the big brains. Maybe without his love for leela, fry wouldn't care enough about existing to fight for existence. Yes his relationship with his 1999 family is tumultuous, but he still missed them greatly, and it seems to me that his love for leela and his hope that they would be together is what kept him invested in the years 3000+. This may be backed up by nibblers offer to help fry "woo" leela with the flower etc.
3:14 i like when she asked fry to stop dying. Memorable scene
Damn! I really have to rewatch Futurama don't I? I guess I was too young and didn't care enough to really focus on all of these storylines. I guess that's another thing I'll rewatch over quarantine.
Unfortunately I think it was one of those things that they didn't have enough to flesh out. It does feel like the Brain Spawn arc was unfinished, but I'm pretty happy with how everything else fit together.
Love to see people who love and understand this show as much as I do. So many people I know just don’t get it. Please keep making these types of videos!
Great video, it's also a perfect introduction to another that'd be about craftinga a perfect closure for Futurama (in a form of a theatrical movie), because 'the other' and the whole episode could be developed into some stuff about Leela and Fry's child (that was meant to be Law and Oracle original plot idea and it could be great for developing further Leela's story arc from searching for parents to becoming one), the return of the brainspawns maybe because of frozen time from Meanwhile. There are also other things that need a closure, like Professor has one last wish from Pazuzu, Bender is meant to lead a robot rebellion alongside army of the damned from the second movie (his long time dream of killing humans) - and here I see the closure for his search for meaning, something like change of heart and sacrificing life to protect a human, a child, because it's a child of his two best friends. Fry's arc could also be completed with final battle with the brain spawns, so we could have perfect ending for the main three, with maybe some stuff like Zapp Brannigan as a president (Trump parody) or the return of Leela and Kiff's offsprings.
honestly, i feel the "other" could wither be leela as fry's motivation for saving the universe, or it could mean the only other person able to stop the brain spawn in which case i think it might be the newscaster lady who remained suspiciously intelligent during the time the brains attacked earth and younger nibbler just thought that leela was her.
I always figured "the other" meant "the other savior" since he was talking to the savior and thinking of someone else.
Ohhh I like this theory. Maybe Leela is The Other because of her saving Nibbler from the implosion of Vergon 6 back in Love's Labours Lost in Space. Nibbler recognizes her as a savior in some way, to himself and to the Nibblonians by extension. As we saw in Bender's Game when the Nibblonians were captured by Mom to harvest their Dark Matter, that was a moment of great importance for Leela to the Nibblonians. Since Dark Matter is a powerful resource that could disrupt the universe's fragile ecosystem, saving Nibbler was the key to ensuring his people could live freely. Quite possibly, by saving him, Leela saved an entire species from going into extinction, similar to the Encyclopods. This also ties into the fact that Fry and Leela's relationship is strongest during universal implications.
Another great video Johnny! I love these essay style videos.
I thought about this omission also. I just watched "The Why of Fry" for the hundredth time a couple days ago (I watch the series On Demand and almost every weeknight on SyFy; I'm a Futurama nerd, I admit. 😁) and I wondered if it was an nod to Star Wars too, but wasn't certain either. Seems like the writers intended to use what Nibbler said in a future episode(s) to explain what he meant, but I agree; I think they forgot between the first and second iterations of the series. Your possible explanations definitely got me thinking, but nothing was ever directly connected to either the Niblonians needing Fry again or to Nibbler's reference about Leela's future unknown importance to saving the universe. Like you, I'd LOVE a full-length Futurama movie and believe it would be a HUGE success, whether it's a stand-alone thing like The Simpsons movie was or as a way to FINALLY wrap up all of the loose ends somehow so there is complete and total closure. We need it!! 🙃
I agree that there should be a Futurama Movie that brings them to the big screen. Not a Direct to Video movie that later turns into episodes. It should be Futurama's Big Finale where it brings it all to a close.
I think the movie should involve Fry and Leela as the heroes. It should also involve Fry visiting his family one last time, and I would like to see how his family reacts to him being married to Leela.
I hope the creators see this and plan really a Futurama Movie. Please one last Time :(
We may not know what he meant by "the Other" but here's some equally important information...
"Just remember that Scooty Puff Jr. _suUUUuuUuuuUUuuu--"_
If you ask me, I'm likened to think that Leela being referred to as "the other" is moreso as a catalyst for Fry's heroic deeds. His choosing to return to the future, in both situations he is able to return from his own time, is a direct result of his love for Leela.
Somewhat unrelated, but you can see Nibler’s shadow on the table in the very FIRST episode. The creator really thought this out

Maybe. Niblonians aren't really known for their duplicity though. They're frank, and sometimes cryptic, but they don't really deceive.

And the Dave Matthews Band doesn't rock.
I find it hard to think a show that had more writers with PhDs than some Think Tanks, invented not one but TWO alien written languages for viewers to play with, spend time developing a mathematical proof to explain the multiple mind swap conundrum when it wasn't needed for the plot, kept any math formulae written on black/white boards in the lab to real life proofs, included a shadow of Nibbler in the scene where Fry falls into the freezer in episode 1 when we wouldn't see Nibblonians for 1 or 2 seasons, etc. would explain "the Other" as a lie to get Fry to do something. That's too easy of an out for a show that has shown so much forethought to preplan important plot requirements episodes or even seasons in advance.
Even though genetics doesn't work like that, I kind of like the idea that Fry and Leela somehow become Adam and Eve to the Nibblonian race. Add in a harsh environment that eventually gives the Nibblonians their good looks over time...
Thanks for discussing this! I always wondered what this could mean. Here is a fun theory and question I have wondered.... How many lives were lost due to the action of the events of "Benders Game". Many ships were potentially lost in the middle of space with no hope of rescue when all of the dark matter was made inert.

hold onto your hats this theory is very spicy Johnny. We've seen in the Other arc come to fruition I believe the child of Fry and Leela seen in the finale Meanwhile is the progenitor to all Nibblonians whom perfected the time machine seen in the Late Philip J. Fry which is why they as a race existed before the big bang and ensured that Leela & Fry would have a relationship so they as an alien race would exist thus resolving the hidden Other story arc.
I like the theory of the prophecy referring to Fry and Leela's child being important somehow, but I have to point out that they didn't have a child in Meanwhile. Fry even flat out says "I guess it's good we didn't have children" at one point.

Well if Fry is "the most important person in the universe" it would stand to reason that the person who serves as his primary motivation would also be PRETTY IMPORTANT. Making them a non-specific 'other' most important person in the universe. I really hope its just a Star Wars reference tbh
I always assumed that he meant she was prophesied to his caretaker/cover. And that keeping Fry close to Leela would also mean that Nibbler could keep a close eye on him as well.

Asking the real the questions here.
I always thought she was the second most important besides fry because since she saved fry so many times over the course of the seasons. You can't be the most important person who does the most important things if you're dead. Also she's always part of a reason that he is where he is. she's either the one driving the ship or is instigating him in some way to go somewhere
Honestly I thought it was pretty simple and obvious, Lea is Fry's muse. He loves he and strives to be better because of her, eventually winning her over. It is because of her that he wins. She's the *other* half of what is needed for the universe to be saved. Having said that, i would still love the movie you propose.

Now you got me wanting a BIG Futurama movie
From what I could find, SYFY WIRE did an interview last year with Maurice LaMarche the voice of Kif Kroker, Hedonismbot, Morbo, Dr. Perceptron, Lrrr (leader of the planet Omicron Persei 8) and more, said that he and the whole crew would love to come back and do more Futurama but it's up to the Networks if Futurama gets rebooted
The 20th episode of the Hulu reboot is going to be called "Otherwise". I imagine that episode will explain this mystery.
surely it could just be the fact that fry pining for Leela is usually a key part what leads him to save the universe. Chasing after the 'other' is what inspires him to act.
The time travel rules of futurama are interesting. People in this universe can remember time anomalies, from the fact that Nibbler can remember Fry telling him the ScooterJr. sucks, which should've been a time loop, as well as the episode where the head of Richard Nixon is elected as world president. This means peoples memories aren't effect by these anomalies making the future changeable, and yet set.
Fry is the most important person in the world. I think the other is the one who, through mutual attraction and perhaps long term rejection, keeps Fry motivated, and also keeps Fry alive. Often times people forget the importance of the everyday struggle. They see Fry save the world and call him a hero. They don't think of Leela, the one who's saved his life more times than he can count. Who gets him off the couch and out into the world where he's needed most. The captain, the driver, the bodyguard. These things can't be quantified in a single act, but over a lifetime of love and support.
I think that Fry and Leelas child is the chosen one
I thought the other was more in reference to the scammers story plot. Where Nibbler knew about the risks of using the time travel code (he even had Niblonians ready to attack), and it was Fry's (both regular Fry and Lars/Fry's) love for Leela that ultimately saved them all, until Bender (not part of the prophecy) broke the fabric of the universe anyways. Or it was a mix of all they have done. There is also the fact that the way the season ended suggested a circular time loop, or a possible change in what happens in the past - which similarly to how Bender had to go back in time to put the timecode on Fry in the first place or how Fry slept with his grandma to give himself the delta brainwave, could mean that Fry and Leela (specifically Leela) deciding to "go around again", could be an important moment for all of the known universe.
Edit: yeah, you kinda mentioned that last bit. Also, it could just be that Leela is the driving force for a lot of Fry's decisions (hell without her he never would have met Nibbler - even if he did get the job he and Bender would have just tried to eat Nibbler), so the prophecy could be something like Fry is the one who saves the universe, but without Leela he will not succeed.
I think liela could be the other for a few things (in according to how the question implies liela is the most important thing to fry)
Weird story arcs:
>fry and liela have a baby
>fry chooses to save liela
>fry dies while saving liela and she must replace him saving the universe
>liela some how didnt change when the universe did
>liela died and her clone survived
> two people are meant to save the neblonians and liela is the other hero
>liela had a pet neblonian and maybe her humanity in the species and for species in general is what saves thousands of species
These Futurama videos are great. You've earned a subscriber
There are a bunch of episodes that end with a loose end. Like all the tiny benders. And what sucks is that there are a million things left in Futurama that could easily fill a whole season. Like kif and Amy's kids all grown up . And Fry and zap in the snu snu episode, they could also have a bunch of half Amazonian kids XD.
I think I lean towards it just being that Leela is important to Fry. She's his significant other. She's important to him, which makes her cosmically important because he is. That was, I believe, past Nibbler, so at that time all Nibbler would have known was prophecy - that the time paradox would leave a human without a delta brainwave, that he's born 1000 years too early for the right moment to fight the brains, and that displacing him would unite him with his significant other, a woman that would give him the drive to save the universe.
I always thought of it as just some reference to the Empire Strikes Back when Yoda says that there's another person who can stop Vader (who can be assumed is either Leia or Anakin)
Yeah I mention this in there
I always took it to mean the other important being- being important because she was the reason fry would want to stay in the future
I've been curious about Leela being called "The Other" for years. It got me thinking again after seeing the next lineup of the Hulurama episodes.
The supposedly series finale (before the renewal was announced) is titled OTHERwise which is similar to Meanwhile (previous series finale)
There's also my shipper brain interpreting "The Other" as "The Significant Other" of Fry.
2:25 I hadn't realized this means there were technically 3 Philip J. Fry's in the family with the Roswell grandfather, the delivery boy grandson, and the astronaut nephew
Omg finally I found someone who talks about futurama. Your content is awesome
Thanks dude! More to come :)
a way to do that movie is to make reference to the fact that the professor was tunneling through an orthogonal dimension. being in a different dimension where space and time act differently, surely the damage the professor did wouldn't be reset simply because the main dimension was.
If you're worried about The Other, here's a line from a fanfic that I enjoyed really much, Return of the Brainspawn:
The mission, despite a few worrying times, turned out a success, and for The Mighty One and The Other, their love had blossomed into a pleasant flower, it's roots stuck deeply within one another, and for them, they couldn't be happier.
