You don't have to remove the switch, just use a 90 degree probe or just a bent piece of wire.

0:25 It's a myth that there is something special about opening a circuit at the negative battery cable as opposed to opening it at the positive battery cable. Either operation opens the circuit and is equivalent. Once you do either, the battery is removed from the circuit.

You remove the negative battery cable instead of the positive because of a potential safety issue. If you are removing the negative cable and accidentally touch the chassis with the wrench, nothing happens. If you removing the positive cable and accidentally touch the chassis, a large current will flow and possibly weld the wrench to the chassis. If the wrench can't be removed, the massive current draw can cause the electrolyte to boil in the battery and possibly cause it to explode. This will send sulfuric acid flying in every direction, possibly causing severe chemical burns.

What if your lock cylinder won't turn. How do you get it out?

That was as easy as falling off a log, without the log or the falling ha ha :-D
I could have done with that design when removing a damaged cylinder from a bmw, all the tricks and videos did no good, we had to chisel it out, stupid release mechanism just didnt work :-(
