I recently purchased a 2006 ion with a weak battery. I charged it up last night, and disconnected the battery to ensure that it could start this morning. I put the key in the ignition forgetting that the battery was disconnected and that the car would not start. I have limited time today to get tires and and alignment done and then get the car registered and inspected. When I realized that the key was stuck in the ignition and that I needed the key to open the trunk and reconnect the battery I was infuriated. It was a short but stressful 10 minutes as I checked the internet and found your video. Thank you so much for the help!
Thank you, saguirre31able! My key was stuck in the ignition. My battery, which was in the trunk was dead. The little control with the buttons on it has long been dead. I was screwed! Now, my battery's recharging. Tell that little boy of yours thank you! He did a great job!
Skip Lathrop im in the same situation! I dont have the money but I was prepared to throw the whole car away and get a new one! This little boy saved my life. Now I can get my new car in the spring as planned😂😅. Thanks little guy!
You’re a life saver hahaha I’ve been having problems with the key getting stuck in the ignition and I’d have to wait 30 mins or more for it to come out, sometimes it’ll stay so long that the battery will die And I’d have to jump start it. Now that I know this I don’t have to continuously waste time waiting for my key to come out and I won’t have to be consistently jumping my Saturn! THANK MAN!
This is the best piece of information that I have gotten about my key stuck in ignition of my saturn ion. My key had been stuck many time before but it has always made a clicking sound and then I was able to remove key. Not this time, the key had been stuck for 5 hours and then I saw your youtube video and it comes out as soon as I pushed the button. Thank you so much for you video!!!!!

If your car will still turn on, turn it back on, change gears a few times. Turn car off and key might come out. Mine was stuck and this worked for me. I tried the button option in the video but mine didn't have it, I have 2004 Ion. But thank you for the video, your baby boy is too cute!!
Dude, 100% thanks for this video. My daughter's ION is having issues starting - something with the battery or alternator. Anyway, we jumped it today, she drove it around the block, then turned it off and tried to start it back up immediately, and it wouldn't start. The key would not come out of the ignition, and you can't get into the trunk to jump it again without the key. Saved us a trip to a dealer (if we could even find one) to get another key (since we also can't find the spare key). Anyway, thanks again!

Who ever designed the ignition this way needed put in an insane asylum! Your video has saved me alot of headache! This car is wonderful except for the ignition!

I was out in the parking lot about to have panic attack cause the key wouldn't come out but now we don't have that problem anymore thanks to your video!

It wasn't your son that got it stuck. The ignition itself was recalled. I have a ION and my key kept getting stuck and I was just about ready to get a new car until my brother told me about that button to push so it would release the key.
My key has been stuck in the ignition with a dead battery for weeks! And as you know, the damn battery is in the trunk which is inaccessible without power or a key... what a terrible cycle of stupidity on my behalf. Thank you so much for this!!!

I no longer have this car but if I'm not mistaken there is a lever in the truck that will allow you to fold the back seat. Glad this helped. Thank you for your comment

Had the same problem with a 95 Saturn sl2. Called the phone number in my Saturn maintenance book, They told me to take my shoe off and give the key a good hit with it.... It worked. Nice to now they made an improvement.

The ignition itself is the problem. It was recalled. But that button totally works to get the key to release.
