My favorite lady. In my opinion she's the best single handed ocean Voyager ever made. Well appointed and such clean rigging. Once you see the efficiency of the propeller, you'll wonder how you got by without one. Just a real peach. Jeff's favorite I'm sure. Cheers.
Wonderful boat. Best of both world. When it's not underway, the guest cabin would be as comfortable as the master. It's literally the equivalence of a two-bedroom luxurious apartment with ever-changing ocean-view.
What a wonderful sailing motor yacht. The best of both worlds. Thanks for the tour Jeff. By the way, thanks to your channel I am now the proud owner of two Reyn Spooner shirts. Someone ragged on your shirt and you kindly set him straight giving me the idea to try a couple out. Very happy with the quality/fit and looks. I’m guessing others did the same thing.
Tony: Great boat, agreed. And so happy that you have discovered and appreciate Reyn Spooner wear. Perhaps we could say Reyn Spooner are "the Nordhavn of Aloha wear!"
Paolo: If not perfect, certainly very close, thank you for your note. You may also like the video we filmed for the Nordhavn 56 Motorsailer, Perelandra
Quote: „There should be 100+ Nordhavn 56's out sailing the seas.” I totally agree, Jeff! Tthere are NO “Nordhavn MS 56” at sea and with one exception not on the market. Why is that so? Is the market for such a famous boat not existing or does Nordhavn focus on their new (pure motor-) trawlers only. They started with sailing boats in the late 70 is´nt it? Should we send Jim, Jeff and Dan an E-Mail with some “hints”? ;-) Regards from Namibia, Olli Carstens
Olli: Hard to understand the market. Motorsailers have always been difficult to promote, not fully sail or power. Nordhavn just signed a contract for a new build MS56 so maybe they will take off again. The timing for the original introduction unfortunately coincided with the Global Financial Crisis and literally took the wind out of the sails from this magnificent design.
@Robert Mandiberg actually you can own any property in the Philippines when you purchase as a corporation. But yes in general a non national may only purchase condos and co-ops.
Realistically how fast can you sail without power given the weight of the boat? maybe 1/4 of true wind speed maximum? I would imagine it works best running the engine on low revs and the sail adding a few knots?
Mark: It's a physics/math equation based on waterline. More wind, reduce sail to keep her upright and going forward, not much leeway. Surfing down a wave, very fast. If you target a speed average of 7 to 8 knots I think you would be fine. Sail with the adjustable propeller is another bonus on this design, you can balance sails and engine for optimum performance.
@@JeffMerrillYachts Thanks Jeff. I'm suprised 7 or 8 knots would be posible under sail alone. Nordhavn should make more of this and it might increase the MS popularity. Appreciate your videos. I will be in the market for a boat in the next few years so will be keeping an eye on what you are selling.
@@JeffMerrillYachts I was a sailor when I was young. Loved the sea for life. I still have a dream to buy a motor yacht, but I got very sick and have no money ... now I look at the pictures and am happy for other people.
I'm not sure I agree, they are so different. The 56 is an offshore, ocean crossing monohull sailboat - with an exceptional diesel propulsion package that has amazing range. Are you suggesting a 42' sailboat or 42' catamaran that is an alternative to the motorsailer?
The engine room is the only thing that gets me in a motor sailer. You cant get to anything. I love the motor/sailer idea, but why does the engine room have to be tucked away in a closet?
Frank: Respectfully disagree, compared to any / most sail boats this is actually an engine room, not a closet. For the size, I don't know any other sailboats under 70' with better access in the engine room.
@@JeffMerrillYachts i agree on that, its just to have a sail so much has to be given up. Its not worth it, just stay with a NH-56 and forget the sail. Your comparison logic seems to portray a ‘Sailing’ person wanting a engine, where as, I want a trawler, with its spacious engine room, that also has a sail
Steve: The rig would be a problem with bridges. Sailboats do the Loop, have to take out the mast more than once which is a bit of a production, but it is possible, just not a practical as on a power boat.
To build a hinge for the mast isn't that hard. Takes a bit of money and engineering but it can been done and with the new rigging on the market it is getting even easier.
This is the ideal boat to my way of thinking. Power and sail. Backups. Wonderful.
Tom: Exceptional design. Anything with an engine can move forward, the sailing part is the breakthrough, this is a good sailing boat!

Constantine: Yes, agree - very versatile and luxurious - thank you!
I really like the concept of a motor sailer. Beautiful boat.
DeVallibus: Yes, this is a magnificent design, beautifully built and capable as advertised. There should be 100+ Nordhavn 56's out sailing the seas.

I would buy it in a heartbeat Nordies are wonderful boats and having a set of sails ⛵️ is just perfect
Chad: is a special Nordhavn for sure
I love this boat! If I wasn’t a 70-year-old senior citizen living on a fixed income I would buy this boat, head for the horizon And not look back
Gary: thanks for your nice note
Хороший Обзор👍👍👍, Спасибо Джефф!!!🤝🤝🤝Всем Добра Здоровья!!!👌👌👌
Zoza: Thank you!
Nordsail One is actually the screen saver on my computer. Has been for years! Oh how I wish that I had the money to buy her!
Jeff: That is a great comment, thank you!
Awesome yacht , Rob stay safe at Loreto , regards Walter
Walter: Thank you, Rob is doing great!
The best of both worlds, beautiful!

my dream boat.... thanks jeff
Viktor: Thank you, she is exceptional.
Excellent walk through! Thanks.
Rob: Thank you very much!
Wonderful video. I saw your first one. Love this boat set up.
Thomas: Thank you, the Nordhavn Motorsailer is a marvelous yacht, you need to come visit to see her in person.
Awesome Talk View Tour..... As always! I'm not a sailboat kind of guy, But if I had to have one it would definitely be this one! Thanks Jeff! 😎👍⛵⚓
Hi Captain Rick: Thank you, this is a boat that, because of her sail plan, has unlimited range!
Love, love this boat!!!
RD - Thank you!

I like it! Obvious Nordhavn quality, and the capability of saving on very expensive fuel.
Matrix: Thank you, yes really an exceptional design, fuel efficient and travels very inexpensively by wind

What a beauty! Blessings Jeff. Buy another shirt!
Mike: Thank you, OK, I'll go to the Reyn site and sign up for their latest aloha shirt!
Lovely vessel! ❤️ unfortunately out of my budget of affordability currently. Unless you could use a couple of houses on the island of Cebu. 😎
Randy: She is a great boat, better to approach a seller with money, not trades. Thank you!

@Robert Mandiberg Thank you for clarifying!
Love this damn boat.
Patrick: Thank you, she is magnificent!
Awesome review. Is it capable of sailing out in the open ocean. Round the world cruise. How would it cope in rough seas
Kiwimon: Yes, open trans oceanic range. You can shorten sail or power sail in rougher seas.
I came real close to getting stuck in the kelp beds off of Point Loma.
Dier: Have to be careful turning the corner at Point Loma, the good news for the are is that the kelp is thriving.
hi, could you modify and install the Z bows for better stability? And, maybe make the Nordhavn to solar power boat? tnx
EAA: I'm not familiar with Z bows, the sail plan provides stability. Many Nordhavns have solar power.

Galley stove is an insult for a ship of such magnitude.
