  • Started this wood stove installation on my birthday on February 17th and finished the video on April 2nd. The struggles with staying warm while building on the cabin have been very real but enjoyable at the same time. I hope you enjoy this video as you get to see Paris playing in the yard, my brother and I trying to figure out how the woodstove goes together, and (my favorite part) watch me start a fire and cook a pizza!

    One side doesn’t have holes so it is adjustable. Supposed to be used as a set screw.

    I agree, 2 feet for the stove to draw air properly.

    Yes, can't be said enough you need to be at least 2 'feet above the roof line. Also, you can put a gasket around the stove door it will be more airtight and burn longer Cheers 🙂 Also you need space at the roofline between the stove pipe and any combustibles like your face board. check with the pipe manufacture how far from combustibles you need to be to be safe 🙂

      Thank you, friend. I’ve added the extra stove pipe for proper clearance. Looking forward to some nice fires this coming cold season. Also, looking to extend the cabin on both sides so look for those videos soon. Thanks for watching!

    I agree with obiwannosi you really really need it up above the roof. That gets hot, you don't want a fire. In my opinion you need 2 or even 3 more to get it way above the roof line.

    You need to add another section of pipe (or two) below the top of the chimney cap - looks way too close to the roofline.

      To make it higher than the roof line? Can you explain why that is important? Genuinely curious. I appreciate the heads up. That's an easy enough fix. I sure don't want any problems in the future that cab be fixed now.

      If the stove doesn’t draw properly, the smoke will come back in the cabin

      @@mikesib3482 Thanks, Mike. I'll be fixing that soon when I put on the gutter and install my rain catchment system.

    That's the second stove I've seen on you tube with out the holes in the other side somebody sleeping on the job or there's a reason there's no holes IDK lol GBU later

      I'll have to go back and watch Bushradical's video but I'm pretty sure his had all of the holes. I think this suggests that is stove is handmade and not sent thru machines. Not really sure honestly. But that was the only issue I had with a stove. So I guess I can easily forgive them for that. haha I really enjoy using this stove though.

      I believe the one side doesn't have holes so it's slightly adjustable for uneven ground.

    Because a is responsible for carrying hot air and deadly gases up and out of home, it must extend far enough top of to ensure that these emissions blow away instead of traveling back into home.

      Thanks, Steven. I thought that would be the main reason but was curious if it effected air flow/draft as well. I'll definitely be adding another piece of pipe before it gets cold again.

    Does the larger pipe make it burn quicker?

    • @fallshillsidehome
      @fallshillsidehome  Рік тому +1

      I apologize for just now seeing this. I’m not sure if the larger pipe helps it burn quicker. It makes sense if it does but there is a damper on that pipe to eliminate that. The purpose for us using the larger pipe is that is what’s found in most stores for wood burning stoves meant for the home. The Alpine Camp Chef that I have was made for your large canvas tents. After watching Bushradical using his I decided to give it a try and couldn’t be happier.

      @Falls HIllside Home any problems with the stove yet? I just bought one.

    • @fallshillsidehome
      @fallshillsidehome  Рік тому +1

      @@usmcson3 none, so far. Just make sure you do a burn outside of your home first to get all of the oil and stuff burnt off of it, especially if you have a price of galvanized stove pipe. Those toxic vapors can make you really sick.

    Sorry dude. Stay in your lane. You have created a hazard for yourself. Go straight up through the roof .Use. a 6 inch roof assembly and use the factory pipe to go through. Works alot better,safer and draws better than 90 degree bends through the wall..

    • @fallshillsidehome

      Stay in my lane? You sound like the kind of person that's upset because I didn't hire you to install it for me. I would agree that putting the pipe straight up would have been better, but I decided to go with the 90 degree bend. It draws fine if you start the fire directly underneath the pipe with zero issues. Additionally, I have a CO monitor as well. I understand the flow of heat as well the behavior to toxic gases. This has been my 3rd Winter with stove and we are fine. I actually teach safety regarding emergency response. Also, if you actually watched the videos you will know my stove, the Alpine Camp Chef, comes with tapering stove pipe for tents. The stove pipe I used is real stove pipe made for real stoves. Thanks for your reply though.
