Garage Door Demo
After the garage door started to come off the rails, I decided it was time to rip it out as well as all of the wood the termites destroyed. The two long sides of the garage was framed using pallet shelving years ago before I bought the property. I didn't get video of me taking the garage door off because it was stuck and I had to work quickly so I could get my vehicles in for routine maintenance. But you can check out me removing what was left of the framed wall. It's not load bearing so no big deal but it's got to get replaced soon.

Building a New Deer Blind and Introducing a Few More Pets to the Hillside

It's already deer season and I'm way behind on building my blind. Intended on building a shoot house but settling on an elevated platform for my pop-up blind for this season. Also, I finally got my very first Guinea Pig, Landon got a new pup and Rose has a baby bunny. #retiredchief #navychief #retired #homestead #huntingblind #elevatedhuntingblind #outdoorlife #countryliving #familylife

      I agree that removing the people was horrible. But that had nothing to do with me. I was there for two years. Would you have me to be miserable my entire time there? I would have liked to see what the rest of the island looked liked today. You probably weren't allowed to take images beyond your quarters? Our battalion, NMCB 3 was there in '75 when Saigon fell. Very trying time. We had 'hootches' that we lived in on the beach as we started building those apartments you lived in. We also paved the cantonment area and out to the airport before we left. We also were dredging the lagoon to accommodate larger, deep draft vessels for re-fuel. Absolutely a stunning place to live, although it was definitely isolated duty and was red-hot most of the time.

    Sorry dude. Stay in your lane. You have created a hazard for yourself. Go straight up through the roof .Use. a 6 inch roof assembly and use the factory pipe to go through. Works alot better,safer and draws better than 90 degree bends through the wall..

    • @fallshillsidehome
      @fallshillsidehome 4 місяці тому

      Stay in my lane? You sound like the kind of person that's upset because I didn't hire you to install it for me. I would agree that putting the pipe straight up would have been better, but I decided to go with the 90 degree bend. It draws fine if you start the fire directly underneath the pipe with zero issues. Additionally, I have a CO monitor as well. I understand the flow of heat as well the behavior to toxic gases. This has been my 3rd Winter with stove and we are fine. I actually teach safety regarding emergency response. Also, if you actually watched the videos you will know my stove, the Alpine Camp Chef, comes with tapering stove pipe for tents. The stove pipe I used is real stove pipe made for real stoves. Thanks for your reply though.

    Yes, can't be said enough you need to be at least 2 'feet above the roof line. Also, you can put a gasket around the stove door it will be more airtight and burn longer Cheers 🙂 Also you need space at the roofline between the stove pipe and any combustibles like your face board. check with the pipe manufacture how far from combustibles you need to be to be safe 🙂

      Hello, brother. It depends on where they put you. In one of the villages you have to walk to a shared restroom building. Not fun when it rains and is muddy. In the village I visited the most there was a shared bathroom between two bedrooms. So, that wasn't that bad. If you are American they might put you in the barracks which is like a small studio apartment with your own bathroom. I hope that helps.

      I think so. It is a military base so there is always some risk of it being attacked but I'd say not likely. The weather is not bad and there are no dangerous animals except sharks. With it being an island there is always a risk of tsunami. I'd say the most concerning thing is there is not a hospital there, only a small medical clinic. Foreign national contractors have their own small med clinic as well.
