Keep in mind that I've only used it for a couple weeks, that being said, so far so good ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM . Using it at 8 ft. by 8ft. deer blind that is insulated. I have to keep the door cracked for it to get enough air to burn, but that is very likely the wood I've used. Much better quality than I expected for the price. Now if I can just take it easy in the beginning it won't be 90 degrees in my blind. All in all it seems like a keeper.

Excellent presentation. And unlike some people on here your stoves have obviously been used. So many of these people pull it out of the box and try to tell you if it's good or not without ever using it. Excellent job

Interesting assortment of stoves. You are getting quite a collection. I also have about the same number of tent stoves but about half of mine are homemade. The modern stainless steel and/or titanium stoves are awesome stoves.

@@nelsonminingandabandonedplaces Glad you enjoy the videos. We have not considered Connie having her own cooking channel. I'm not sure that it would be appealing to the larger audience. However we do have "Connie's Camp Cooking" video playlist on the main channel. So in essence it is a sort of dedicated cooking channel within a channel.

well at about 20 bucks american for a 3mm 1mx1m sheet of titanium and some hard work and few dozen drills and hacksaw blades yes you could ... the question then comes down to how much was your time making it worth ... so that 20 bucks of titanium sheet and say 200 hours of work ... you to can have a custom built functional camp stove with all the features you were willing to make or could make ...

Right on. Yeah I'm gonna have to check some of those out. I've been really stepping up my winter game. Did a lot of snow shoe camping last year, and Im thinking of getting into the "Hot Tent" scene. It gets down to the -30s F around here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan sometimes. Even the warmest sleep systems are tested at those temps. I wouldn't mind pulling an 8lbs titanium stove around with my other gear in a sled. Thanks.

Personal preference, the foldable woodstove may be ok and a bit lighter. But I'd rather have the heavier ones just because they are more durable. I've used one in the beginning of January in north east USA to heat a makeshift tent shelter made from PVC pipe and cheap tarps and cook on as well. Once we got the stovepipe setup right and above the roof height of tent, it was above 70°F inside and a very chilly 23°F outside.

Thank you for putting this together... I'm going on my first "summer" motorbike camping trip and have been looking at hot tents for car camping in Norway next year as I didn't realise that I could get collapsible stoves... My original plan was gonna be for my wife to drive with the gear and I'd take the bike... I've looked at a couple of TiPi style hot tents as they're so much lighter and smaller than than the dome tents that I currently have (we also have a huge family tunnel tent) but nothing suitable for colder nights.
Looks like we can probably get away with a TiPi and a folding stove for Norway next year. Any recommendations for best insulation? I heard you mention OneTigris... In your opinion would that be good for Norwegian Autumnal weather? Wind isn't too bad, but it does rain a lot and when it doesn't rain, you can get quite a sudden overnight frost if the cloud cover breaks.
Thanks for any help and advice from a fellow "Man of Kent"

I have the outbacker stove. I used the top warming grill from my bbq as a grate inside the stove. It's the correct width to fit inside. I just cut off about 10cm in length. I never use the front door on it. I top load the wood and the draw is strong enough that no smoke ever escapes.

    Very useful overview 👍
I've had a kifaru stainless slot together stove that was very good but fiddly. Also I've found that in a salty coastal environment the steel does eventually corrode, especially on the threads of the bolts... but also the stove pipe.
So I've now gone for a titanium goat cylinder stove for backpacking. And I like the look of Nortent's folding stove for canoe/kayak trips.

My Luxe 3W got some good use but I was tried of putting it together especially after some warping. And it was too small for me. I got the Pomoly T1 and it's just about perfect. I like the "standard" damper opposed to the card style.

Does it make a noticeable temperature difference inside a tent?

    • @OneclickOutside
      @OneclickOutside 2 роки тому +1

@@xristinarose2409 I just got back from a trip with the Pomoly stove. It wasn't very cold outside (25-30°F) but it was easily 65-70° inside. 75° on occasion. Of course it depends on where the thermometer is placed. I don't "cheat"; I keep it low/sitting height and away from the stove. My 3W stove may have kept up, but it would have been feeding it more smaller wood, frequently. Small stoves generate lots of coals, so you'll want a shovel and metal pan to empty and make room for more wood.
I think the 3W stove would work better in the small teepee tents they sell. I use a larger cabin-style tent.

100 (or so) uses during daytime for cooking and hot water (coffee, tea) when working in the forest, about 50 uses daytime bushcrafting in the forest (cooking and warmth under the tarp-shelter) and about a dozen bushcraft overnights with Tarp(s).
And then there have been at least 50 daytime-cooking uses when I left my G-Stove at home, because my brother-in-law brought his... ;)

How big can you go with a cast iron pot and still get a more or less even spread of the heat? Is the maximum diameter the width of the oven top or the distance from the front to the chimney? Or something else?

The Winnerwell big one is really nice. For the Ti I would go with the Pomoly ones, they are constantly working on new models.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. I'm doing research and looks like the "miniature" one would be perfect for me in Europe where nights are not too cold and I don't need the fire to get going... Food for thought.

Pomoly uses thicker titanium so it's heavier even without the glass.

nice video. The stove with the shity little bolt feet is the only one i wouldnt want. Lose one of the wingnuts and its just a bunch of metal. not very survival friendly
