Thanks for another great video.I to am heading to my cabin this weekend for a workparty. Time for a new roof. It has been 29 years for the original section (15 year shingles) and 16 years for the addition section with 20 year shingles on it. The newer shingles are the reason.All cracked and curled up.Hoping to have a new wood stove installed by our hunting season here in NY. Anyways look forward to your next video.Thank you again.

My sister lives in Florida and prayers are being said. It looks like it might go up the left side of Florida now. That puts you on the bad side of it but not in the eye. Many prayers, this is not going to end well for some people.

Great job and wise decision, Joe, to cure it at your home vs at The Tent! Glad you found a model close to the one you replaced! White Vinegar and original Blue Dawn dishsoap = magic! Another great product is BarKeeper's Friend; you can find it at Lowe's/Home Depot in a powder shaker (like old fashioned Comet) or liquid.

I would add the grate which was listed on the instruction sheet. At the very least, a layer of sand or fire brick on the bottom would improve longevity and function. Enjoy your new stove.
I've heard this being done before, with an inch of sand on the bottom..to slow the heat decay on the bottom....

Different process than cast iron. The new stoves have uncured paint and oil on them you need to burn off. It smokes and smells like chemicals and you don't want to breathe that in a tent.
These videos are addicting (Well for me, anyway. The wife rolls her eyes and watches TV in the bedroom). You always find something new that you learn.

Hear in upstate NY theres nothing better than the leaves at peak and then huntin&campin season. After that, back to Fla.
i use 5/8 copper tubing to heat up water just wrap around the stove pipe and hook it up to a water heater works great a small 20-gallon tank or even a 5-gal. tank.

It seems like starting up the stove is almost always one of the first things you do. And you have the stainless steel water heater right there on the side, yet I don't think I have ever seen you take any water out of that heater. Instead you heat pots of water on the gas stove for showers. is it just too much of a pain to fill up with water? wouldn't you just need to add some cold water to a partial pot of hot water for a nice hot shower? Just curious to why you would clean it all up and put it back on when it doesn't seem to get very much use.

They are not sponsoring me at all, I just have had such good luck with the first stove and how long it lasted and everyone that follows the Tent videos has watched the stove age right along with me and knows how much it gets used. I do not mind showing off something I know is a good product.

Black is usually thicker and heavier. The silver is more camping friendly because it is lighter.

I am sure you could. You may have an issue with your insurance company depending on what state you live in but as far as the stove is concerned she really heats well.
Have you ever thought about wrapping underneath of stove in copper pipe and around bottom of stove pipe? Sort of pump water through slowly when you need hot water for washing dishes and shower. Kind of an on demand warm/hot water supply, at least in winter/fall/spring months.

It is a good idea and yes I have looked into that, the problem is that I am normally here all alone and heating water has just became part of my routine. When you are here you always have something to do and heating water is one of them. If I had multiple people the hot water on demand would be a great thing to have, Thank you.

Joe, just occured to me, you have a water heater on the side of the wood stove, I've never seen you use it? I would think that would be great to heat your shower water! Do you not use it? Or do you just not show it being utilized? Keep up the great work, love the videos!! Take care.
I did in the past but it is not very efficient because the water just boils away. It is much easier doing it the way I do it but that water heater does work well if needed.
Curious, how effective is the stove as a cook stove?
I have cooked many many meals on that wood stove. It is easy to regulate the heat also. You slide it back towards the stove pipe for real hot and you slide it towards the front for low heat and if the stove is a little too hot you can slide the pan over a little on the shelf since it is exactly the same height as the stove top. Then you can shut the damper and draft down on the stove and it drops pretty fast and you slide the pan back on the stove. You see more of the wood stove cooking in my earlier Tent videos.
I never burn glossy paper in mine gives off a horrible sticky residue
Also I never use lighter fluid as it heats up too fast and causes stress on the stove (could warp over time)
I only use untreated seasoned wood , looks after your stove and you will get a lifetime from it not just a decade

Yes it creates a lot of creosote and that's the first time I've ever seen someone use lighter fluid was on Joe's video about a year ago.
When are you going to build a cabin? I hope I'm still alive and kicking when you post those videos. Just curious to see what you'll do different than your folks place.

I use no grate.

Can't wait for the lake crossing during the winter. Do you carry a side arm at the tent? Seems like the wolves on the trail cam would make me nervous.
I normally never do. Sometimes I will take my 9mm with me but rarely. The animals are more afraid of people than I am of them. They always run. The only time I do is when the raspberries are ripe and I am going out to check a stand or a trail camera. You never know if you will get between a bear and her young. That is pretty much the only time there could be an issue.

Do you ever put water in the water tank on the stove
I have yes and it works well its just easier to put it in a pot on the top of the stove since a person rarely needs hot water when you actually look at how much you use it through the day. The water in that reservoir is constantly boiling so it evaporates away.
Would be good if you could have a water heater on both sides. Would hold more heat and have more hot water.

I would not use that stove in an enclosed space, unless I knew what the coating was the manufacturer used to coat the outside. Excuse me, I am new to your channel. Was it stove paint? If I was you guys, I would turn that stove up on it`s end and burn it off more, like a burn barrel, for another day. Survivalism, by it`s very nature, means, don`t trust outsiders. Aside from that, it looks really good, like a good cookstove. Be well, Joe in PA
