There’s no telling how many children pay the price of court ordered visitation. At thirteen he was old enough to know where he wanted to spend Thanksgiving. The court in forcing him to go hold a part of the blame.
Actually she should have just kept him home, there's nothing that they would have done about it had she just kept him home. But, this is very very sad and it does happen all the time. My youngest son ended up fighting with his dad about 9:10 years old and it ended up to where I took them thank God my son and my daughter. A year later I had to contact Friend of the Court and their Town they're Old Town and let them know that the children were living with me for the past year at that point and I had to prove it through like schools and wherever I could prove it through and I more than enough proof that they had been living with me for the year prior but I think all the time of what if they weren't living with me for that year prior what would have happened had something happen and their dad went off the hinges because he was very close to blowing off the hinges as it was with our youngest son who was so little and so adorable at the time that I don't know how anyone could ever have been mean to him the way he was. But, ever since they told me I had to prove they were living with me after a year it made me very untrustworthy of the system at all I already have been but now I am that much more. They were involved when the kids were with their dad and all of the fighting was going on Etc and I was having to fight to get the children on my days I had to fight him to get them out of his house oh, they didn't want to be there but it was best for them at the time I thought because they lived at Grandma and Grandpa's house. But, their dad was in the garage all the time being a drunk and it would come time for bedtime things like that he would come in acting like a psycho and grab ahold of my youngest son and IDK why all because I wasn't there unfortunately. But anyway my point is that they should be accountable for not doing check-ups, CPS should be. They should have to do follow-ups after there is even assumptions of anything physical going on. I know that doesn't apply to the story necessarily but, with the visitation thing it puts me that it does apply slightly

Judges should have private conversations with kids and ask them “is there any reason you wouldn’t want to visit your parent?” In these custody cases. If nothing else they could require supervised visits. They need to start doing what makes the kids comfortable instead of what is best for the parents egos. A lot of times the kids are just currency or weapons for the use against each other *edit…. For everyone saying “but what about this or that” I didn’t say the entire decision should be based on that. Life and these situations aren’t that simple. But to provide a kid with a safe space to have one on one time with the judge to be able to speak up and say something. I think that would be helpful. Not telling someone who is then going to (possibly) relay that info in court in front of the parents. Kids should have more rights and not have to go somewhere they aren’t comfortable and feel unsafe all because someone is their parent in name only. Allow they to speak in confidence and then maybe just limit them to supervised visits, or make adjustments based on what the kid prefers and what the claims are*
@@katiekiruck2801 true any claims could be investigated. And when pressed, kids, especially younger kids usually will fess up or the story will fall apart. Nothing is 100% but kids should get more of a say. At the end of the day it’s about protecting the kids. They could even ask the kids if they would rather have supervised visits, where they’d prefer to visit (like in public or avoid the parents house) etc. would they rather not be around certain people, like if a parent has an abusive boyfriend or girlfriend that would speak volumes.
This is so crazy to me. My parents divorced in the 80’s. I wrote a letter to the judge saying I didn’t want to see my dad (I was around 9/10 years old). He did not make any visitation orders. He let me decide when or if I wanted to see my dad. It allowed me time to heal and process and go to counseling and it was 2 years before I finally worked up the nerve to see my dad. It wasn’t easy but I felt I was in a better state of mind. Idk if there’s a once and done solution but taking the child’s wishes into consideration would certainly go a long way. My dad never gave up on me and sent me cards and letters and gifts that 2 years apart. They made me angry at the time, but later when I married and had a child of my own and had finally forgiven him, I appreciated that he never gave up. That’s a dad you know wants to be a father. ❤
I knew the dad did it when i heard him say "I loved him" and "He meant everything" always speaking of his son in past tense. He knew his son was dead because he killed him and subconsciously he admitted.
This poor mother. She was losing her mom and then her psycho ex-husband kills her son (I refuse to say it’s his son since he is no father). That heartache must have been crushing 💔

How it took that many years to arrest and charge that sicko for Dylan's murder after finding Dylans blood in his home and cadaver dogs hitting on several spots in the home and in his truck is beyond ridiculous. It should not have taken that long. Rest easy Dylan. You didn't deserve to die, let alone at the hands of that monster that you were forced by the courts to have to go to.
Mark's arrogance and guilt was sickeningly obvious in the form of his lack of ANY emotion when listening to the horror that was his young son's death. It was also very obvious to me that the ONLY reason Mark followed through with the court ordered visitation was to be vindictive and hurt his ex-wife, which is partly why he blamed her for their child's murder.
I’m from Monument and my husband is from Durango. This case hit home for both of us. I remember seeing “missing” posters of Dylan everywhere. Such a horrible situation.

I don't understand why no one has fought for children's rights more. Courts really need to make changes. Mark seriously believed that nothing was going to pin it back on him, but his lack of emotions as a father whose son died speaks volumes.
Judges who force children to be with a parent they don’t want to be with but are mandated to spend time with them- those judges should be held responsible when things like this happen.
It's ridiculous when a parent insists on visitation when their child wants nothing to do with them. Suck it up and move on. Don't make their lives miserable.
A good parent would opt for supervised visits in that case or at least the option to call and rebuild the relationship. And then take parenting class because there’s gotta be something seriously wrong with a parent if a child that young doesn’t want to see them. I’m not talking teenagers just being bratty and not wanting to obey rules. Kids love their parents even when they’re abusive, so for a child to be 12 and have the mind to not want to be around his dad, you know there’s a problem.

That is NOT what happened! Their holiday visitation schedule had been in effect for a long time before that holiday weekend. Dylan never g told a judge anything. He told his mother who then phones her lawyer. Her lawyer then advised she needed to send him because it was the father's weekend to have him. There was not enough time to file any court paperwork to change the visitation schedule.
And I’m sorry, but if this was his Grandmother’s last Thanksgiving, the court could not make an exception?!! And regardless of that, Dylan did not want to go… the courts need to do better and listen to the children before them.
Unfortunately so many courts/ friend of courts do very little for children. My ex showed up to pick my sons up, fell out of his van cause he was drunk, I got in trouble because I didn't allow him to take our sons. Friend of the court told me it's none of my business what he does when it's his visitation time. To them driving drunk with kids in the car is acceptable during parenting time. It’s actually more expensive to have someone on death row. All the appeals, legal costs, extra security-it costs ten times more than life in prison w/o parole.
Sometimes children are manipulated by another parent to not want to go to another parent’s house too. There are a lot of factors to consider. Too bad a judge didn’t hear Dylan out first.
This is exactly why I'm staying married until my kids are older. Once we divorce I wouldn't have control of custody, the system would, and the system is seriously flawed. I see so many cases like this. That quote about "keeping your enemies closer" is sometimes the safer option.

There’s no telling how many children pay the price of court ordered visitation. At thirteen he was old enough to know where he wanted to spend Thanksgiving. The court in forcing him to go hold a part of the blame.
That needs to be changed, it's the cause of a child's murder in this case. Just despicable and tragic!
I don't think id have sent him if id known @ those pics & marks atttitude

Judges should have private conversations with kids and ask them “is there any reason you wouldn’t want to visit your parent?” In these custody cases. If nothing else they could require supervised visits. They need to start doing what makes the kids comfortable instead of what is best for the parents egos. A lot of times the kids are just currency or weapons for the use against each other
*edit…. Allow they to speak in confidence and then maybe just limit them to supervised visits, or make adjustments based on what the kid prefers and what the claims are*
Agree
Although I agree, it’s tricky because sometimes kids lie too. Not in every instance but sometimes bitter parents make their kids lie!
They do get asked and kids will say it but they puts parents "rights" over kids' desires.
They should allow the kids to deny one visit per month. They could at least spend the holidays with the parent that they want

The dad is one sick individual.I doubt if he had any love for Dylan, like he claimed to the news cameras. How could he after what he had done?
No Corey sent them to Mark after Dyan asked for them.
That man is an evil SOB! Too bad he didnt recieve the death penalty! How tragic for this family. So sad...
The case was closed with the phone recording of the investigator revealing to the father they found...PART...of his sons body and he says "finding 2% of his body does not reveal anything"...no emotion of "finding out" about his son being DEAD.
This is unreal, sad and I wish there was death penalty in Colorado.
Thanks goodness that man will never see daylight again. Lots of prayers and love for the mother, his brother, family and friends. ❤️🙏🏼
Jonathan Grusing is awesome at his job. He also worked the Latecia Stauch case of murder. Amazing job. So glad he's in CO. We need him & his expertise on these cases.
And just before letecia stauch's case, he also got a murder conviction with NO BODY, which is really difficult to do. Most DA'S won't even prosecute a case without a body. He is a rockstar!
The Morphew case as well as the Watts case … He’s the Man … ijs..
@@zvsmith2008 new to these cases as far as all the details. I thought he had worked with some other murderers. Thanks for the info. 🙋♀️
@@ashj0Johnathan Grusing is NOT the DA. He's the FBI agent
Woah! I didn't know this! Thanks for the comment. @@zvsmith2008
Colorado has had some really nasty murders of lately. I really wish we had the death penalty back in this state again. My taxes should be going to positive things not feeding, housing, & healthcare for murders. NOT SORRY EVER.
It’s actually more expensive to have someone on death row. All the appeals, legal costs, extra security-it costs ten times more than life in prison w/o parole.
Kids should never be forced to see a parent if they don't want to. There is a reason they don't want to go.
Not always true. My kid didn't want to go with his mom because he had more friends and fun at my place
Sometimes children are manipulated by another parent to not want to go to another parent’s house too. There are a lot of factors to consider. Too bad a judge didn’t hear Dylan out first.
My heart aches when I think of the fear Dylan must have felt. This will haunt me forever.💔
This is exactly why I'm staying married until my kids are older. Once we divorce I wouldn't have control of custody, the system would, and the system is seriously flawed. I see so many cases like this. That quote about "keeping your enemies closer" is sometimes the safer option.
Things going that bad?

Unless you're being abused! If you're abused you must get away.
I agree with everyone about these court ordered visitations! This man is a sociopath - killing his own son and - his only regret was being caught . Rest in Peace Dylan 💔I feel so bad for the mom and brother
I think it should be up to the children. If they want to visit a parent. I remember this case but didn't know the back story . The dad liked to cross dress which is absolutely crazy. He also had a thing about eating crap . What a sick psychopath who was living a double life. He was dismissing the bones found by searchers. Who talks about their child that way. He's a sick twisted pos.
Mark being a degenerate probably explains the multiple divorces.
Can't you get sick from eating poop??
To me cross dressing is kinda like so what long as it isn’t hurting anybody. But the eating crap part is insane. Wish people like that could get easy access to mental healthcare
I don't think him liking lacy garments made him evil. Him being willing to kill his son because he felt slighted and embarrassed made him evil.
@dakotahlayman9389 It's not normal behavior for men to do. He knew it was bizarre behavior. so much he was willing to kill. He killed his own child to keep it secret. That's evil not the cross dressing. Who knows what kind of satanic behavior he was involved in. I hear Luciferians actually eat every bodily fluid . It's evil .
That man was a freak! I bet he tried to molest his son, then murdered his own child. Smh... so sad and awful! 😢
Good heavens. This is so disturbing I can't finish watching the monstrosity of what went down on the lad Dylan. I'm terribly grateful to know that no one close to me suffered that kind of trauma and premature ending of a life imposed by somebody who should love instead of kill a younger person of blood relation.
I had heard the story and always thought that Dylan found the pictures on his father's computer during the visit. I didn't know they had found them well before. I agree that the older brother SHOULD have spoken up so there would not have been any court ordered visitation with a man who films himself.... that way (I can't even bring myself to write the things he filmed himself doing).
The fact that Mark forced him to come for that visit tells me all I need to know about that man.... None of it good. His son is old enough to make his own decisions on who he wants to spend time with and if this was his grandmother's last Thanksgiving, Mark should have stepped up and let him stay home with her.
After the conviction, the victims' family should get to name the punishment. I agree with this Mom. Heartbreaking to say the least.
That's an unfair question. No, he doesn't "love" his father, but he obviously has a visceral emotional attachment.
He definitely said he loves his dad. He is probably just as sick as his dad
What got me was when the dad said, Dylan meant everything to him , He said in past tense context, knowing Dylan was not alive… He killed his son over pictures, something they could have talked about… it’s disturbing and horrid… Poor kid…. RIP Dylan❤❤❤❤❤❤
In the late 70s a judge ordered me to allow my 4 year old son to visit his father in prison. His paternal grandparents took him to visit every other weekend.
There was absolutely nothing I could do.
A couple of years later he was sentenced to 8 years in prison in a different city and my son (and me) was finally safe. He was a monster.
I was just thinking about Dylan earlier today & and it’s a crazy coincidence to me that you guys posted his story… this is just one of those stories that will never leave me rest in paradise Dylan ❤
So weird when things like that happen.
The guy doing the interagation with Mark was terrible. He needs more training.
