      There needs to be backlashes on judges who make these ruling that allow for people to get murdered. They keep forcing violent men back out on the streets.

    My daughter was court ordered to visit and got to therapy sessions with her abusive father during my divorce proceedings. My lawyer and I tried every legal avenue to stop it as my daughter no part of him at the age of 10. She had to stand up for herself in a therapy session refuse to see him and told the therapist why and I took her home. My lawyer requested the therapist submit account of the incident to the judge and he ordered contact to stop immediately. Years later she was able to connect with him as she was older and emotionally mature to handle past issues. The courts need to respect even young childrens wants, needs, and safety concerns!

      Actually she should have just kept him home, there's nothing that they would have done about it had she just kept him home. But, this is very very sad and it does happen all the time. My youngest son ended up fighting with his dad about 9:10 years old and it ended up to where I took them thank God my son and my daughter. A year later I had to contact Friend of the Court and their Town they're Old Town and let them know that the children were living with me for the past year at that point and I had to prove it through like schools and wherever I could prove it through and I more than enough proof that they had been living with me for the year prior but I think all the time of what if they weren't living with me for that year prior what would have happened had something happen and their dad went off the hinges because he was very close to blowing off the hinges as it was with our youngest son who was so little and so adorable at the time that I don't know how anyone could ever have been mean to him the way he was. But, ever since they told me I had to prove they were living with me after a year it made me very untrustworthy of the system at all I already have been but now I am that much more. They were involved when the kids were with their dad and all of the fighting was going on Etc and I was having to fight to get the children on my days I had to fight him to get them out of his house oh, they didn't want to be there but it was best for them at the time I thought because they lived at Grandma and Grandpa's house. But, their dad was in the garage all the time being a drunk and it would come time for bedtime things like that he would come in acting like a psycho and grab ahold of my youngest son and IDK why all because I wasn't there unfortunately. But anyway my point is that they should be accountable for not doing check-ups, CPS should be. They should have to do follow-ups after there is even assumptions of anything physical going on. I know that doesn't apply to the story necessarily but, with the visitation thing it puts me that it does apply slightly

    Judges should have private conversations with kids and ask them “is there any reason you wouldn’t want to visit your parent?” In these custody cases. If nothing else they could require supervised visits. They need to start doing what makes the kids comfortable instead of what is best for the parents egos. A lot of times the kids are just currency or weapons for the use against each other
    *edit…. For everyone saying “but what about this or that” I didn’t say the entire decision should be based on that. Life and these situations aren’t that simple. But to provide a kid with a safe space to have one on one time with the judge to be able to speak up and say something. I think that would be helpful. Not telling someone who is then going to (possibly) relay that info in court in front of the parents. Kids should have more rights and not have to go somewhere they aren’t comfortable and feel unsafe all because someone is their parent in name only. Allow they to speak in confidence and then maybe just limit them to supervised visits, or make adjustments based on what the kid prefers and what the claims are*

      @MareMarMarie Рік тому +27

      @@katiekiruck2801 true any claims could be investigated. And when pressed, kids, especially younger kids usually will fess up or the story will fall apart. Nothing is 100% but kids should get more of a say. At the end of the day it’s about protecting the kids. They could even ask the kids if they would rather have supervised visits, where they’d prefer to visit (like in public or avoid the parents house) etc. would they rather not be around certain people, like if a parent has an abusive boyfriend or girlfriend that would speak volumes.

    This is so crazy to me. My parents divorced in the 80’s. I wrote a letter to the judge saying I didn’t want to see my dad (I was around 9/10 years old). He did not make any visitation orders. He let me decide when or if I wanted to see my dad. It allowed me time to heal and process and go to counseling and it was 2 years before I finally worked up the nerve to see my dad. It wasn’t easy but I felt I was in a better state of mind. Idk if there’s a once and done solution but taking the child’s wishes into consideration would certainly go a long way. My dad never gave up on me and sent me cards and letters and gifts that 2 years apart. They made me angry at the time, but later when I married and had a child of my own and had finally forgiven him, I appreciated that he never gave up. That’s a dad you know wants to be a father. ❤

      Unfortunately so many courts/ friend of courts do very little for children. My ex showed up to pick my sons up, fell out of his van cause he was drunk, I got in trouble because I didn't allow him to take our sons. Friend of the court told me it's none of my business what he does when it's his visitation time. To them driving drunk with kids in the car is acceptable during parenting time. He passed in 2005 at 41 from drugs/alcohol. Thankfully my sons have not gone down that road.
