For those wondering, Mike Tokars unfortunately passed back in 2020 due to a pulmonary embolism at age 31. (a P.E is a blockage in the pulmonary artery which is what sends blood to your lungs, which about 100,000 people die of each year, and there are more than around 200,000 cases in the US each year alone) EDIT: I told myself I wouldn't clarify but the fact that people cannot read properly or realize that Mike was Ricky's younger brother is astounding. Fred Tokars was 67 when he died of natural causes. Mike died of a medical tragedy likely due to either injury or underlying health conditions and was sadly not able to be saved. To those who have realized that they mixed up the names and corrected themselves, thank you. Edit 2: To those saying that it was due to the covid vaccine, Mike died in April of 2020, the vaccine wasn't released until December. Stop it. This isn't about the vaccine.
I met Sara in 1988, right after Mikey was born. I was pregnant with my oldest and my boss was her friend. She was such a thoughtful and lovely person, she brought me baby things and came to my baby shower, even though we had only socialized a handful of times. RIP Mikey. :

Ricky, You are defined by your courage, your bravery, your strength, your honesty, and your integrity. Not by the evil that someone else did. Your mom would be so proud of you. Most adults don’t stand up to evil the way that you did as a little boy. Very well done.
I wish that people would understand that there is a difference between "forgiving" and "letting go of anger". Ricky explained it so well. You don't have to forgive but you can let go of the anger, hurt and hate.
I feel like the public announcement of immediate forgiveness is a fake virtue signaling Christian flex that makes people feel better. Forgiveness should be the outcome of a mutual effort post traumatic event.

On Friday, April 3, 2020, the world unexpectedly lost Michael "Mike" Philip Tokars from Bradenton, Florida. Mike died in Newport Beach, California, of a pulmonary embolism. He was 31. Beloved by family and friends who nurtured and surrounded him and his older brother with love after their mother's 1992 murder, Mike was cherished his entire life for immeasurable reasons; his tenacious curiosity, compassionate heart, infectious sense of humor, kindred spirit, and remarkable zest for life. Mike was born April 20, 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia. When Mike was just 4 years old, he and his 6 year old brother, Rick, were tragically thrown into the public light when their mother, Sara Ambrusko Tokars, was brutally gunned down in front of them by a hit man hired by their father. All of Atlanta and much of the nation were heartbroken when they read of the two brave little boys who, after witnessing their mother's murder, ran through a dark field to a distant house and desperately begged the stunned homeowner to call for help for their mother. After the murder, the boys were taken in by their maternal grandparents, former Manatee County Health Director, Dr. John Ambrusko and his wife Phyllis, and were raised in Bradenton, Florida. Although Mike never wanted his mother's murder to define his life, the horrific events instilled in him a desire to change things for the better and would characterize him for the rest of his life. Mike graduated from Manatee High School in Bradenton, where he played football, ran track, and rowed crew for the Sarasota Scullers. After graduating from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree, Mike continued on to the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York where he earned his master's degree. Mike worked as a reporter and content producer for The Christian Science Monitor, The New York Post, and The National Memo, and as a researcher for the television series "Crime Watch Daily With Chris Hansen". Mike was adored by so many and impacted the lives of countless people during his abbreviated time on earth. His life is in part defined by his passions and what he valued most. He was an eloquent writer, gifted artist, voracious traveler, avid surfer and snowboarder, and music enthusiast. During his short life, he explored paths in Atlanta, New York City, and Los Angeles, and met countless meaningful friends along the way. However, he always considered Bradenton, Florida and its community to be his home. As Mike's friend, Brendan Flanagan, reflected, "Though Mike's time was short, he will remain part of our lives forever. In many ways, we already feel his impact through the compassion, gratitude, and support that has been pouring in since his death. We hope that he is looking down on us now, together with his mom, Sara, smiling, laughing, and knowing how much he was loved and respected." When Rick spoke at Mike's burial, his parting words were, "Mike was my younger brother, but I always looked up to him. I know Heaven instantly got more fun, vibrant, and creative with Mike up there. I love you, Mikey, and will miss you every day for the rest of my life. Love your big brother - Rick." Mike's life can be summed up by a verse from one of his favorite poems: "what matters most...is how well you walk through the fire." Mike was buried with his mother, Sara Ambrusko Tokars, and grandparents, John and Phyllis Ambrusko, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Buffalo, New York. Mike is survived by his brother, Rick Tokars; aunts, Therese (Craig Carlson) Ambrusko, Gretchen Schaeffer, Mary (Bob) Bennett, Joni Ambrusko, Karen (Neal) Wilcox, and Krissy (Gary) Pennington; nine cousins who loved him like a brother; and his beloved dog, Frank.
My uncle was an FBI agent on this case when it happened. He disappeared for three months bc the work was so secretive… I was a small kid and just remember him suddenly showing back up and telling us he was part of why Fred was arrested, but wasn’t allowed to say anything else. Wild times.
He really was a a$$hole . I was raised in East Marietta and was raising my kids there when this happened. I was a waitress back then so I had met Tokars before at the restaurant. My middle son got into some minor trouble not long after this happened (he was 17 in the wrong place at the wrong time) and we had to go turn him into the police then wait around forever so we could bail him out. He was put in a cell next to Tokars. He said the guy had a computer, Books, and stacks of papers everywhere. He was working on his defense. All that stuff didn’t help him a bit! I’m so glad it didn’t!! He was evil in my opinion. I don’t know how the son Michael passed but I’m glad to hear Ricky is doing ok. Ricky was the one who saw it all.
Most of the time it's because of money! I always wonder the same thing. He messed up the lives of at least 10 people, not to mention all of her friends and other people who loved her! It's so crazy what money can make people do!

Somebody already said it, but I can't help but to say it as well, when he referenced his mom's murder to how it you remember hitting a home run- it really takes a person back to when you were a child, and how you can still remember that 20, 30 years later like yesterday. What an articulate child who can process such an analogy to truly get across how he remembers. Astounding. I don't think children get the credit that they deserve at times. Amazing, yet sad. I wish a home run was a memory instead of this horror.
The little boy is so brilliant! Good on him on holding it together and behaving so maturely with him little brother under such traumatic circumstances, and also being brave enough in court.
What a beautiful brave young boy to come up with an analogy like that to explain how everything that he witnessed stayed in his mind like when you hit a home run! ❤❤ Rip to his mama who raised smart boys 😢
Prosecuting attorneys normally prepare their witnesses before they take the stand. It's quite possible that they would have factored in the counter argument by the defense that a memory from 2 years prior when he was just 6 years old might be fallible. It's possible they gave him that analogy and taught him to rehearse that response. Nonetheless, that's a brave kiddo who survived the worst

@JuntaJanardhan yes, thank you for pointing that out on every thread in the comments. Clickbait or not, as you said the story stands on its own. There is absolutely no reason to report it. Reporting a video puts the channel needlessly under review. The facts are correct. There are no codes and guidelines broken. A Clickbait thumbnail, isn't fake news, misinformation or disinformation. Get over it and instigating a channel to have their video pulled, a possible strike against them and to be under review for the "advertising strategy used". That is an abuse of the reporting function and needlessly wastes everyone's time. And comes with severe ramifications, just because you think they should have done it differently. And quit trying to flex your own annoyance with your call to report a video that shouldn't be reported.... Not cool!

For those wondering, Mike Tokars unfortunately passed back in 2020 due to a pulmonary embolism at age 31. (a P.E is a blockage in the pulmonary artery which is what sends blood to your lungs, which about 100,000 people die of each year, and there are more than around 200,000 cases in the US each year alone)
EDIT: I told myself I wouldn't clarify but the fact that people cannot read properly or realize that Mike was Ricky's younger brother is astounding.

We hope that he is looking down on us now, together with his mom, Sara, smiling, laughing, and knowing how much he was loved and respected."
When Rick spoke at Mike's burial, his parting words were, "Mike was my younger brother, but I always looked up to him. I know Heaven instantly got more fun, vibrant, and creative with Mike up there. I love you, Mikey, and will miss you every day for the rest of my life. Love your big brother - Rick."
Mike's life can be summed up by a verse from one of his favorite poems: "what matters most...is how well you walk through the fire."
Mike was buried with his mother, Sara Ambrusko Tokars, and grandparents, John and Phyllis Ambrusko, at Mt.

So sad 😞 my prayers are with Ricky’s family.
My uncle was an FBI agent on this case when it happened. He disappeared for three months bc the work was so secretive… I was a small kid and just remember him suddenly showing back up and telling us he was part of why Fred was arrested, but wasn’t allowed to say anything else. Wild times.
Hmmm! And y’all just believed him? 😂😂😂
My uncle was a nuclear physicist, and I earned a PhD in mathematical physics...😮
They should not have left the boys with their father as he is a suspect
The lady and the children look so cute. Fred could have had a great life if he chosen the right path. He spoiled everything
Why can't people just get a divorce?!
Most of the time it's because of money! I always wonder the same thing. He messed up the lives of at least 10 people, not to mention all of her friends and other people who loved her! It's so crazy what money can make people do!
MONEY
Women are rewarded for getting a divorce. This law discourages men to marry and if they ever get married, they will try to avoid divorce at all costs. The video above is one of the extreme steps one would take to avoid divorce. Stupid law.
Because money. Guy wanted the life insurance.
They said it he thought she knew to much...Poor Women.....that's what I believe happened to Mrs Trump # 1 when they started investigating him Trump in New York i believe he had something to do with her falling...she knew to much I have hard time believing she fell down steps New York .I guess no kne investigating 🤨
Ricky was and is such a brave human being and wise beyond his years. Listening to his testimony broke me to my core, especially when he broke down crying but kept telling what happened. For him to have that level of understanding at that young age is amazing. I hope he and his brother have done their healing in the most meaningful ways for them.
What a kind, compassionate person Rick is. He became a lifeguard & EMT to save people. Poor baby thought his Mom could just go to a hospital n be fixed up. I wept all through his speaking

Ricky was simply amazing and so strong to be able to testify at such a young age and so eloquently! Well done, his mother Sara would no doubt be extremely proud of him and the way that he looked after his younger brother. Sara's husband was pure evil not only killing a beautiful, loving Mum, but also in front of their young innocent children. Glad the evil monster was caught! Thankfully the brothers were brought up by Sara's amazing family. God bless them all.
god had this all in his divine plan from the start, created the mother (to have these kids) and created the murderer, knowing full well what was going to happen, after all it was his divine plan, and he did NOTHING to stop it. I sat as a juror in a trial where Fred Tokars testified as a jailhouse snitch. He wasted a bunch of time with his ramblings, which NONE of the jurors believed at all. When we were able to talk about it, we all agreed he was a slime. And looked like crap. The toll his then “LIFESTYLE” was taking on him really showing.

I almost cried when he said the bit about always remembering your first home run. That’s such a smart way to put it, and yet it shows just how young he was :’(
My kids are the same age as those boys were when their mother was murdered. Watching Ricky’s testimony broke my heart as I imagine my oldest doing that. The way the boy tries to explain how he can so surely remember it, that's crazy to me.
Their mom looks like a flower. She looks like so full of life. What a beautiful person❤
