This guy may not have killed anyone if Ashley hadn't walked into his life again. Makes me wonder how many people are out there that will kill if the right circumstances are presented.
The judge should not have allowed Ashley to randomly pop up one day and get custody of her daughter without the father being able to fight for custody himself. However, Chad did not have a reason to assume that his daughter was being abused by Ashley and Ashley did not deserve to die because she wanted to be a mom

This documentary seems to want to stick to one narrative and focus on other tjings, but at about 5:28 if u pause read the paperwork. The mother in law said that erika said she didn't know who the dad was of her baby because she was "DRUNK and picked up guys" then the truth came out. On trial her attorney questioned her mother in law regarding the shots as if erika blamed her confession on her getting drunk by her mother in law to get her to say something she didn't want to. I imagine it something like 'i didn't want to say that but she got me drunk and made me say that' just like she says in the recording "i did what he told me to do, to make the call and order pizza.
One lie after another full of excuses and blaming it on beer, alcohol and others giving her orders
The court should not have given the mother custody.
You dont know why they did. We are hearing one side of story being told to justify their unexcusable actions. Why didnt he do an emergency petition to modify or at least stay the judges motion so they could make their case in court.
Something is not adding up and I bet its because she was able to prove that they were keeping her from being able to contact her daughter that she didnt abandon her because she was in the military. They didnt want to share custody & probably didnt agree with her lifestyle.
Plus no telling how long the step mom had actually been abusing her. But, you'd rather she stay with the people capable of taling someone's life?

She was sold on the benefits
You meant fight for our oil.
She did fight for her daughter. Chad used her sexuality against her in court. He did not allow her to contact their daughter. There was a joint arrangement and Chad refused to ever follow it because Ashley didn’t want to be with him. Ashley struggle to find a job. That’s why she went to the military.

Family court - Where evil lurks around every corner & case. That should be on the building.
How you know She never tried to reach out but the father three away the letters & blocked the phone calls
Why is she waiting 4 yrs to alert authorities.
This. She sat on that tape for four years allowing a murderer to walk free. Her lack of a moral backbone is appalling.
Sometimes allowing your food to cook rather than immediately serving it. The children were young stripping them of the only adult they have would have been reckless thinking, also keep in mind that Erica mentioned her guilt. She’s has been in complete fear and anguish for 4 years. The mother did right. Keeping in touch with Chad, getting her ducks in order. This was the best way to go about this
The way you explained it, that makes sense.😊
Because she was probably in on it
Grandma calling her "the daughter" is sus.
Funny how Chad only cared once she shacked up with her new love interest. And this 'devoted grandmother' refers to her granddaughter as "his daughter" instead of "my granddaughter".
All of these people suck and they all deserve to be in jail.
Lol, I bet she wishes she hadn't cut the grandmother out now. If she'd pretended to be faithful for a little longer and let the kids see their grandmother, she'd still be on the outside.
If I took the rap for someone and they built a family with someone else in my house, it wouldn't have taken 8 years. More like 8 minutes! 😂
This is one of those cases where everyone involved is terrible.
Real men don't murder innocent people. Awful
Put the tape away for four years and didn't think about it? Right. Blackmail? Extortion? Way to go, Mommy Dearist. Those grandkids should be kept from all of them!

Law&Crime, do some more digging on this one--the custody testimony is one sided and Ohio doesn't just make decisions on behalf of an absent mom. If dude was capable of murder, "losing his daughter" didn't push him to killing.
Thank you everyone in this case for seeing the truth ❤

Stop blaming the victim esp when it's someone of a protected class. It just makes you look bad.
A. Not a combat zone, probably assumed it was just another day on the job, not the best thing to do for anyone let alone someone trained but were only human.

It will be SO nice if these ignorant criminals will think twice BEFORE procreating. Chad claims to LOVE his childrens BUT that is NOT love is nothing but control. He was JUST
having one baby after another like it was nothing. If you REALLY love your Daughter why did you killed her mother? That is not LOVE but CONTROL. The childrens are the ones suffering.
He wasn't having one baby after another. He was having children with his wife and that lady was not his child's mother. She was an egg donor. The little girl didn't even KNOW her. That girl won't even miss that lady. She'll miss her father
I don’t think that the mother of the daughter Was allowed to see or talk to her daughter , and probably had proof that she tried ! And actually behind the scenes fighting for her daughter. I’m not judging that situation bc I don’t know the whole story there
Every adult here is a monster at various levels.
Exactly 💯
That newscaster now has his own real crime story channel. 🙂
Unreal… the system did Chad wrong from the get go, he shouldn’t have killed Ashley, but everyone has their breaking point, it’s not surprising this ended the way it did.
Exactly! Men get screwed over so much when it comes to custody battles. I'm not condoning him killing Ashley but like you said, everyone has a breaking point, especially when their children are involved.
This was incredibly one sided. You have no idea what the actual situation was. He is capable of murder, yet threatening her or keeping a child from her is a bridge too far?
Sick of the nonsense in family court. I have seen men lose rights over accusations only.
A person whose breaking point is homicide isn't the kind of person who should have children. He's not the first or last parent suffering from custody issues.

Ashley apparently never did anything illegal, but they love to cast her in a very negative light: yes, she left her divorced family, but there is no way to know what emotional crap she was going through after being married to such a covert narcissist as Chad. Chad is a manipulative scheming murderer. I'm just so sorry for their daughter.

100% because of the judge
The defense really said it was “freakish” to remember something from 8 years ago that was unusual and peculiar given everything that followed
I can't even imagine what this poor woman went through in her last few minutes. Just heartbreaking. Even though she was the killer's mom, I am glad she taped her former DIL so that all those responsible paid the price.
I have no idea why the judge thought its ok to take a child out of her environment and give custody to an absentee mother. I am lost for words. Did this judge ever thought about the little girl how she must have felt to be sent off with a stranger, a mother she never knew. The judge should be held accountable for his actions.
Everyone is talking about the judge making the wrong decision. However, the father made the ULTIMATE wrong decision... Now, the children have no father.
Yeah Mike OJ
If the father wasn’t abusing the child, had a wife with 3 other kids, and the mother was been gone 98 percent of her life, how does a judge just give custody without even notifying the father?
This guy may not have killed anyone if Ashley hadn't walked into his life again. Makes me wonder how many people are out there that will kill if the right circumstances are presented.

The judge should not have allowed Ashley to randomly pop up one day and get custody of her daughter without the father being able to fight for custody himself. However, Chad did not have a reason to assume that his daughter was being abused by Ashley and Ashley did not deserve to die because she wanted to be a mom
Should be a Lifetime movie
Not justifying the murder but it sounds like she was a terrible mother and I can't imagine why the courts made some of the decisions they did.

Chad turned out to be a POS, there is no doubt about that. But that being said, what kind of a POS judge sees a person abandon her kid for 6 years and the father not run away from his responsibilities and raise his daughter well, but decides to give the child to the mother when she decides she wants to be the mother all of a sudden?
This documentary seems to want to stick to one narrative and focus on other tjings, but at about 5:28 if u pause read the paperwork. He lost custody because he wasnt following the court order that favoured him, and wouldnt allow the mother to see or speak to her child. So the judge took custody from the parent who was breaking the court order and comiting parental alienation. Chads actions are at fault for the judges choices, not the judge being a pos. Chad didnt turn out to be a pos, he always was a pos
