You are brilliant Tynan I've been playing this game nonstop for nearly a year. Congratulations on your imminent release!
I have a suggestion/plea - can you please make it so that we can visit other areas of the map, like once our colony gets big we can send some people out to another location and have them start a new colony there, then maybe trade back and forth between the two colonies? It would help improve endgame alot instead of me just restarting a new colony somewhere different with all new characters. Maybe during a raid if you're outnumbered you can even run away from your colony and try to startup somewhere else. Anyway well done!
Thanks Cynthia. World map travel is a classic idea which would be awesome to have but is also very difficult to do. However, it could be very valuable, so I'd like to do it at some point.
+Tynan Sylvester Perhaps you may add the ability to attack or defend other factions? I can see it being implemented to increase or decrease appeal from the other factions. Optimistically, you may be able to send agents to other factions, or launch raids in order to delay or outright prevent incoming attacks, depending on the amount of enemy AI killed or relevant structures destroyed (IE artillery pieces, weapon stockpiles, machinery). Colonists could be sent to defend friendly factions in return for positive diplomatic relations and a reward. (perhaps silver, gold, even missing limbs for colonists back home)Hilariously though, If the former is not possible, A cult or a turf-hungry empire faction (Like Rome...) could be added, included with them different behaviors. Just a few thoughts I had
Thank you. Could you do what some other games do, and "unpack" or delete the old colony, but allow a few characters to be migrated to a new one? So really small workload, other than exporting 5 or so characters to a new square/game/level/save?
There is a mod kind of similar to what your asking for. I think its called plan carefully, you can create characters and customise starting gear, allows you to save party and gear set ups, so this would work similarly to what you want.

You will love it. Kinda difficult learning curve but after a while it's an amazing game, can't wait to see some rimworld content on your channel (hopefully). Keep up the amazing work man.

ok that scenario editor is huge! giving so much customizability as well as tangible goals to your game was one of the very few areas where the game needed improving and this seems like a great way to fix it! also congratz on getting the game into a steam-ready state! i feel hugely vinidicated towards all the people who doubted this game would ever make it this far! best 25 bucks i ever spent on a game (no seriously i have more hours in this game than in any title from a major game-studio)

this game never seizes to amaze me
I can make porch-style roofs surrounding my buildings. That's good. But will my pawns actually seek to utilize that roofed outdoors space?
In real life, it can be nice to sit outside but with a roof above to protect from rain or sun.
Maybe a roofed outdoors area facing west, in a plains biome, with a dining table and a chess board, that the pawns can use for their evening meal and recreations, while watching the sunset.
Is anything like that going to be in alpha 14? Not as something I imagine inside my head, but as actual game simulation?
That would be good for the winter, roofed pathways.
That thing with the roofs is more game-changing than you'd think. Now covered pathways can be built to keep snow off the ground, and turrets and cover can be placed under roofs to get a darkness cover bonus. Plus it'll make stopping colonists from being poisoned in chemical fires.

Damn , feels like this was yesterday .
This is amazing! Also I know suggestions are to be made on the official forum so I'm not directly making this comment towards the Devs. And I will of course check how it works once the release comes out. But I hope the new U.I bar that shows the colonists picture can be resized or at least turned off. Reason is I often play with 30+ colonists and it gets very annoying. At least when I used the player made mod I had to disable the mod because it only got in my way once my population was high enough.
P.S The new menu for pet management alone was worth A14 release. OMG that's going to be amazing and this whole update is very nice.

I wanted to try a game where weather conditions eg. the fallout come in waves, rather than being constant. Is this something that can be done in the editor?

SCENARIOS, HELL YEAH!
My tribal colony was the one featured throughout most of this video. Tynan killed all the turkeys, tried to get Borba to burn it down, then called in a huge raid; yet they survive. Kiko is a beast.
Scenarios sound awesome! Sadly, I haven't been able to get into this game in awhile. I really need to try it again now that it's on Steam.

I built a really good colony with geothermal power and turrets and everything on the challenge mode from something Chillax and I'm thinking of moving to another storyteller since there's not much happening.Should I go with Cassandra Clasic or with Randy Random?
I recall seeing some tribal stuff in a dedicated mod. I hope you guys are collaborating at least with those fantastic modders instead of doing redundant work. Seems to me that getting them on the team to do contract work to implement their mod idea on the core game would be better for everybody. And hopefully more of this could be done with the money that'll come in with Steam integration.

For the "start with" thing is it possible for you to organize it by category, like food in the food category, and weapons in the weapons category

Say, with the new roofing system, will it be possible to make roofs without having to surround a place with walls first? Say, have a 5/5 area covered with a roof by just placing a wall on the corners then making a roofed area?

One thing I'd like to see in scenario creation is skill tendencies.
For instance I might want to make a "crashlanded teens" scenario. It may be the case that RW already tends to make younger characters be less skilled and older ones be more skilled, but I'd like a scenario "trait" that makes the random characters be less (or more) skilled overall than they'd otherwise be. Weak form and strong form, and reversible. Likewise a modifier for tendencies to have health problems: The teens should have greatly reduced chance of physical problems, sonewhat reduced chance of actual mental illness, and much increased incidence of minor mental traits (Horny, Moody, Into Drama, Clique Minded...).
I might also want to add a scenario modifier tendency to certain skills, for instance +1d3+1 to Construction to everybody, or 40% chance of each character getting +6 to Brawling. Negatives too, of course. -2 Medicine and -5 Research for 80% of the crashed teens (the 20% are the nerds).
I have a question that i may never get the answer too but can you decide on a min-max of how many raiders come in a custom Scenario?Like say i want there never to be more then 6 raiders but always more then 4 could i do that?

Will there be an option to switch to the steam-version if you already have the non-steam version? It will make the updates allot easier and also getting patches/workshop content/mods.
I have one Question you might have know this ULTIMATE QUESTION was coming and here it is!
If you were to add multiplayer whats would it be like? would it be player has to survive longer or you would team up with the other player and trade stuff.
So it's possible as tribbe to land on a another map and raid a colony ?

Thats good. Suggestion:
1) alien animals (there are mod being prepared BTW)
2) trade\plasteel obtaining issues (playing with my colony for a lot of hours and have alot of stuff to sell, in desperate need for plasteel, but too less traders and no one have plstl)
3)agriculture fix. Why colonists can,t improve soil make less space more harvest gardens. I did it in real life (some rot or synthetic stuff + engineering and voila)))
4)some way to train colonists in shooting or mellee + NON lethal weapons (ranged preferably)

Tynan, if we buy the early access on Steam, if it updates to full release/game, will we have access to that/get all of the updates? Because on Steam it talks about to be cautious buying early access games because you might not be able to update to full game without paying for it sometimes depending on game/creators or something. Can we get fences please in the default build for the Steam release. At the moment I am using wooden walls for to keep my mufflo safe from predators.

The nudists arrived with clothes. Seems legit.
About time the colonist bar was integrated into the base game. Hope the pawn state icons can be applied to the pawns themselves too instead of just the bar. And fluffy's animal UI mod is nice to see too, though I do prefer the UI of the mods over this.

Brammer Julian In the bottom corner of your screen, just below the speed UI, there is a button that looks like a box with a few lines on it, roughly like my terrible ACSII art, drawn below. Just tick it (Tynan has it clicked this video.) and it will change the checklist UI to be like it is in this video.
