+What A Horrible Night To Have A Podcast It's fun to go back and look at the old builds sometimes and see how primitive it was. And how, despite that, it was still pretty darn fun.
+Tynan Sylvester I love seeing the evolution of this game. And I know I always had a blast playing all these builds even when my colony is horribly killed.
This is one of the greatest games ever thank you for all of your hard work Tynan keep it up, I will never stop recommending this game to my subs and fellow producers
TL:DR - Add crimes and punishments that colonists can commit and be subjected to. Also kids are little shits. I dont know if you'll read this Tynan. But you gave me a good idea, if you added events that could happen, like for instance if you have a larger colony some people might slack off some people might get in a fight. someone might eat more then their rationed for food, Just events that colonists do that are breaking the colonies rules and add punishments because of it. Maybe if you add children one day they would be more likely to commit less serious crimes. Murder might be cool to. I know you get absolutely engulfed in suggestions and demands, this is just a idea I think would flesh out the game. Also being able to assign a 'leader' to the colony would be cool aswell because naturally people just need a leader to follow especially in uncertain times. If the leader dies, the whole colony might have a mood debuff and get distracted from their work easier and more often until a new one is chosen. Maybe even colonist elections XD so many options for so many things.
It's hard enough keeping my colonists alive through all the killer robots, and space pirates, now I have to worry about space bugs, and jealous ex wives too? On the bright side, now I can finally manufacture my precious charge rifles!! YES!! I LOVE THOSE ELECTROMAGNETIC BASTARDS!!
I love this game to death, and this updates you keep shelling out are amazing. But i have a one question, aren't you afraid that this game is becoming more and more complex every time you add a new update, there is a lot more micromanaging options and a loot more stuff to take care about. I am not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, I love complex games with a lot of micromanagement, but it can prove too difficult for new players to get into the game, and it might scare them off. Are you planing to add some kind of tutorial sometimes down the line, just to ease new players into the game without overwhelming them when they first start to play the game. It would be a shame for people to pass on this game because they will not find this kind of experience anywhere else.
+TheEmperorSRB I work on trying to suppress the downsides of that. e.g. the relationship system. You don't have to actually do anything. It demands basically nothing from the player. It's just something interesting to observe. Demanding nothing helps keep the game playable. Just an example.
+TheEmperorSRB I think this is the kind of game that people who love complexity enjoy. I think Colony Sim in general is a pretty specific audience, I wouldn't worry too much about generating a new audience. I alone have vouched this game and spread it to 10+ friends who are like-minded. I'm sure there are similar people.
About the infestation: What if you have heaters in this room in case mining goes out of control. You turn up heat to the maxinum and watch them burn in righteous fire.
+AleXandrYuZ Just tried it, turned up the heat, used 8 heaters, the temperature went up to 80 degree celsius, but there were no way to contain them, they dug their way out before the heatstroke could take care of them. It was Cassandra, Extreme, Ice sheet biome, around the middle of Fall.
Ádám Kegye So they can dig and also try to avoid the heat ? Use that to lead them to an area/trap of your choice. If used correctly they can even be a pain for raiders.
Actually, they dig towrds the heaters, broke down my double wall and the went, and run over my base. I couldn't lead them, it was right on the edge of the map, they spawned in my prison, next to the line which marks the buildable area, and I couldn't abandone the base, since it was -68 Celsius outside, plus my freezer was next to the prison with all my food, so...:D It was a nice lesson thou.
Ádám Kegye Needs urgently an update with more defence systems and mechanics like a poisonus device, lasers (Resident Evil), explosives. When the bugs come out the first wall they get cut down by sentry fire then colonists go in and finish the nests. So many ideas ! XD
This was the Alpha I began playing this game! Dont even remember where I saw it, but holy hell am I happy I have this game, Hours of fun! Thank you Tynan.
Wow, Tynan; you really went all-out with this system. I've been a massive fan and playing since like alpha 4(I think? lol), but color me Impressed all over again.
Thanks Tynan for new version. I like the game and the new thinks update. I was excited for it. I have started to play at Alpha 12d, when I have seen some gameplay videos from Quill18, and can't stop sometimes, when I start game :D (usually want 1-2 hours of play and ends it near 4...).
the threat response is amazing. i'm so happy you added it! Question: Are colonists actively hunting seen as a threat? dumb colonists walking between a hunter and a muffalo is still the biggest threat in the game
Fantastic job! I have owned this since.... I think alpha 4 or 5. RimWorld really has come a long way bud. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to add it to my steam library and use the workshop there for mods. Cheers!!!
I think this game is going in a great direction Tynan. You should be very proud of your game. You're completing your goal perfectly, making the AI storytellers tell the best story. Keeping a simple yet complex, and having a system that is easy to get used to but so in depth. Keep doing what you're doing Tynan, I am very exited about the next update for the game. I really love this game so don't ruin it for me by adding stuff that blurs the main focus of the game. :D Good luck.
Its amazing to see how far this game had come. I remember first alphas, back when research screen had like two projects total ( I believe picks and stone cutting ? )...
I was initially against the "days 2x as long" idea when I saw it suggested, but now I love it! The seasons don't feel too short (as I would have feared) but more DOES get done during a day and characters aren't constantly just worrying about food and sleep. Although, as other commenters suggested, maybe an ability to randomize season length would be cool (to simulate different planet orbits).
The statistics on colonists is actually a pretty big feature; its essentially a good overview of a character history that can be used to decide whether or not we should keep a colonist. It can tell us how much they've worked vs caused us trouble etc.
Such a great Update. I appreciate the effor and love you put into this! Wouldn't it be great to have the record of the colonist in percent? It would be great for adjusting the working plan for each colonist individually, right?
Being underground has a very strong effect on temperature! At just ~12 feet underground, the temperature is near constant around 62 degrees regardless of season! (Depending on exact location, of course)
So I bought Rimworld back I think in alpha 9, on the thought of, if development stops here, I'm still going to enjoy this and get my money's worth. Each update has pretty much blown me away so far. Awesome job Tynian!
Thank you Tynan, this looks like an awesome update! Have you been keeping an eye on the modding community for ideas? This update seems to have a few good ones from mods I like to use.
I was a bit upset about this version taking so long, but hell, you did an amazing job and I see that all these features took a while to develope. Keep up the good work!
lol I couldn't agree more with 21:30 with the old AI's obliviousness. In my current world, I was two days into a gunfight with 8+ mechs, and one of my colonists that was supposed to be on his "mid shootout lunch break" ran past my fireteam, around the only cover, and ran halfway into the battlefield to pick up a stone shiv before returning it to the armory, all the while miniguns and rockets missing him by mere inches. I was split between pure terror each time something was shot at him to cheering as if it was a football game as he ran the shiv through everyone straight for the touchdown-i mean my base
Tynan, when i saw that colonists can get bonded with animals i felt extreme emotion, my dog died and it's hard to talk about it, but now in the game this can go too. Also i was kinda expecting a tech tree instead of this (like the hardcore sk mod), but it's all good This game is more then adictive and i really hope you won't stop updatinig it. I love your hard work
New feature "SLURM"! 10/10 !! lol Tynan is talking about something totally different and im still thinking about the SLURM..... ??! The "Firefoam" reminds me of Randy in southpark.. the episode where the internet breaks down?? ......
Sam and Izzy were deeply in love, and decided to hold their marriage in the dining hall. It would have been their happiest day- if Kally hadn't just insulted Daisuke, starting a nasty fist fight. So the happy couple said their vows with blood on the floor and half their guests looking like they had just fought off a raid. A few days later, Daisuke was checking on a geothermal generator that had stopped working, and was killed and partially eaten by a cougar. Cory was crushed all winter- they were brothers. The following spring, the colonists rescued someone from a crashed escape pod- and it was Viktor, Izzy's ex! ... At this point my wife left the room, shaking her head, saying, "You're playing a soap opera..." Thank you Tynan, and everyone at Ludeon. Excellent work!
Awesome to watch this game become more and more developed! One question though: will we see faster transportation methods (trains, railways, etc.) added into the game? at 25:00 Bren got knocked out by her own people, and then the NPC just kept accidentally shooting her over and over. He never once hit the alien he was aiming at, but at least he managed to also shoot his dog.
Hi +Tynan Sylvester thanks for the update :D A question: in the social tab for animals, are there also Mother/Father-Daughter/Son relations between animals? Btw I'm curious to try out the "hunting" feature for domestic animals :D
28:23 "Select Random Site" button.. best part of update! :D i hated having to choose my own location. i like trying to survive in a random location and not one i can choose, because you were in a crashing ship after all, not like they would have time to choose where to land perhaps.
7:40 Nothing says romance like giant boulders I guess. XD 13:00 A fueled generator? A wood burning stove? That's pretty awesome for the early game! Did you say rocket launcher? O.o
+Tynan Sylvester i'd like to know, what option allowed you to make buildings instantly? im asking because im building a base that takes the full map size since i want to see if i can manage 2k colonists
Looks like I have something to do tonight!
+Blitzkriegsler Can't wait for you to do a let's play on this
+Blitzkriegsler Like being trapped with your ex? :P
+Blitzkriegsler Yeah, get to work!
+Blitzkriegsler Blitz, you around here haha :P
finaly a new let's play!!!
I remember playing the pre-alpha and I have to say that this game has become extremely intricate.
+Tynan Sylvester I miss the times when growing and dumping zones were an objects. Zoning is so boring/mainstream.
+What A Horrible Night To Have A Podcast I own the game but I copied and pasted alpha 1-5 off my friend lol.
+Tynan Sylvester can this be a special build? like a FREE one?
Totally could hear you smiling while talking about relationships xD
my god you are seriously one of the best video game developers! thank you so much for your hard work!
its been 84 years….. (6 months) …… FINALLLLYYYY
+Noah Revo You must be a dog. Or no, like, a hamster or something
Tynan Sylvester haha then i would need a "Paw compatible keyboard" xD but im extremely hyped for this update.. thank you :D
+Tynan Sylvester Maybe a chicken.....except I didn't have 10,000 children in that time and lag out my computer.
+lordshotgun Chickens will be a bit less randy in A13.
Less cock, more doodle do?

Huge emergent storytelling potential - great job. :)

OH MY GOD THIS IS THE COMMENT THAT ALL THE MENTAL BREAKS CAME FROM. YOU LEGEND THANK YOU
@@craftworded OH MAN THIS THE ROYALTY DLC
Can you in future releases randomize the length of days and seasons? Because every planet can have a unique orbital time, rotation and tilt.
That would be cool so some seasons might be longer like winter for example and the days might be really short if your near one of the poles.

I love how "Lovin’" gets its own bullet
You know, the reason why winter gets a pass in my book is the lack of bugs. Will low temp in game affect these insects?
Great job Tynan and crew, I found this game about year ago and it is right up my alley, it's been so much fun following the growth of Rimworld.
About the infestation: What if you have heaters in this room in case mining goes out of control. You turn up heat to the maxinum and watch them burn in righteous fire.

Woooooooooooooooooooo!
This just made my day. Thank you Tynan!
This has to be one of my favourite Alpha show off video. The title is perfect.
Great job, looking forward to play this so much!
Thank you, Tynan!
Can you incorporate the prepare carefully mod into the main game in the next alpha?

Sweet sweet release!! the day has finally come.
Yay! always love updates :D
YES! More options for interactions with other factions! That is a part of the game that's been lacking for a while.
Tynan, when i saw that colonists can get bonded with animals i felt extreme emotion, my dog died and it's hard to talk about it, but now in the game this can go too.

That's great! Soon, we can play in Hardcore-SK mod for Alpha 13!!! :) That's main thing!!
I love how dev friendly this game is. all the numbers are exposed, and the characters even have their own metrics
OMG!!! YEEEEEES!! THANK YOU TYNAN!

I tried the alpha 13 version and played for nearly 8 hours straight. AMAZING all the things that happened. amazing update.
+toktorill What kind of marriage is it without a good fist fight? ;)
Amazing update! Thanks Ty
HOLY SPACE JESUS ON A POGO-STICK HES BACK!
Awesome to watch this game become more and more developed! One question though: will we see faster transportation methods (trains, railways, etc.) added into the game? I think it would make for great gameplay to be able to set up, for example, a series of interconnected but separate colonies that each depends on the others (like one for resource production, another for refinement, etc).
really love this update, keep up the good work.
Welcome back Tynan, looks great mate, love this game =)
I love the update! Especially when my colonists throw a nice party in the dumping stockpile zone. That was fun.
Looks good! This game is amazing.
Hype train! Choo chooooo!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
You are awesome Tynan!!!!!!

Hi +Tynan Sylvester thanks for the update :D
A question: in the social tab for animals, are there also Mother/Father-Daughter/Son relations between animals?

Been waiting for this!!!
omg tynan i miss you so much thank for update

A very interesting update!
Rimworld is my favorite game!!
Great job! Keep it up! :)
Super hyped for this ! Thanks Tynan and team! can't wait to get in there and get myself killed... :)
looking pretty good!
