Nice video, thanks! While doing the delete it might also make sense to replace the grid heater (aka intake system) which is known to melt a bolt and drop into the intake. The pieces end up in the # 6 cylinder and catastrophic engine failure. At 20:10 in the video you are already at the intake.
Figured you had to be in Canada. Nice. Guy in California got caught and fined 10k. Company in Utah got fined 850k. EPA is cracking down in the US, doesn't matter if it's on-road or off-road.
Glad to see you back to preaching the truth!! For a while I thought you were kinda not against emissions which clearly do suck. Love your vids bro you have helped me with your videos in the past!!
You should of shown how much of a pain it is to put the new rubber hose over the nipple with the o-ring on it on the head.... and we all have a problem with the o-ring that you changed, it is very hard also, which causes you to cut it when pressing it in. Over all great video!
Thanks for this, really appreciate the video, straight forward, to the point and gives me the confidence to do this myself. Should we be draining any remaining DEF from the tank or just leave it be?
You mention taping or otherwise sealing up all those harness connections going to the various sensors on the Cat/DPF exhaust components. On my 2018 Chassis/Cab at least, there is a single large multi-pin plug connecting that entire portion of the harness with the main vehicle harness with only ONE sensor still connected thru it. That sensor is located in the downpipe just ahead of the 3 bolt flange. You don't mention unplugging that sensor, but I confirmed the delete tunes don't utilize it anymore. So, the entire section of that harness could be unplugged and removed from the framerail, preventing all those connector plugs from filling up with road grime and getting corroded over time. There would only be that single large connector to seal off, and the delete job would look much cleaner. Also, the DEF tank on a Chassis Cab is HUGE and hangs below the framerail, so I chose to remove it also. I can confirm that the single plug that connects the controller mounted on top of that tank to the rest of the chassis harness can be unplugged and taped/sealed up at that single point also.
Also The bracket that mounts on the manifold is different than the video but the instructions on their website are clear. They must have listened about the o ring bc mine slide in perfectly.
Thanks for the awesome video. Super simple to follow along. I have a question.. Do you recommend deleting the throttle valve as well? I’ve noticed in your videos that you just unplug it and leave it in place. I’ve heard it could possibly get stuck closed and cause problems. Thanks again man.
Hey bud thanks for the video. The 5th gens are slightly different from the previous gens so this was helpful. at 25:40, what is the purpose of removing that sensor plug under the throttle valve?
The throttle valve is non-functional with delete tunes, unplugging it helps ensure it does not close unexpectedly. (it is supposed to be spring-loaded to the open position by default).
Thanks for the detailed video. Very helpful. I watched your video on the 2018, but it wasn't the ez-Lynk. Will the 2018 ez-lynk obd connector process be like this truck? One more thing, I ordered my diesel dudes delete kit direct from them before I found your videos otherwise I would have gone through your link. Sorry about that.
Just deleted my 5th gen with the help of your videos! I wish I would’ve went with ezlink. I went with a mm3 tuner and am having some issues tuning it with it having a cp3 conversion hopefully they can figure something out on it tomorrow.
You need the green O-Ring from the dealer for the coolant bypass. Ask me how I know. I think it should be included in the kit but no one ever does include them. The green means high heat. The black ones will square out and not seal after a while.
Their kit will be different, main thing is tuning. I had to ship my ecm away, with the diesel dudes kit you don’t have to do that. I’ll be getting a kit soon here to make a video on.
There’s a way easier way to tell what transmission you have. If you haven’t had to replace the transmission, it’s the AISEN if you have had to replace the transmission possibly multiple times it’s a 68RFE. :)

Great video. TY. I have a few questions. I have seen where the transmission has to be retrained over like 200 miles. Is this still the case? What kind of weight difference do you estimate from old to updated parts? What would it take to reverse this process?
The only issue I had with my 5 inch exhaust was the furthest back exhaust piece kept rotating and hitting the spares heat shield making a shitty rattling noise even after impacting the clamp down. Anyone having similar issues can just have a buddy weld it or even maybe just tack it to keep it from rotating. I had a buddy weld it. Keep in mind it will be a huge pain in the ass to take out afterwards though.
This happened to me when I deleted mine and I took the heat shield off. I was a little weary at first due to the heat from the exhaust being so close to the spare tire, but I’ve had it this way for a year and the tire is just fine. So if you don’t want to weld it, just remove it altogether.
Mine rotates up into the bottom of the bed and has rubbed the metal. I cut it off a few inches past the final bend and installed the MBRP 5 inch turn down

Throttle valve delete isn’t necessary but it does clean up the engine bay a bit so I definitely recommend it. As for exhaust, as long as you get a muffler with your kit you should be fine.
@@darkirondiesel Thanks. Placed order for 5" w/ muffler and added the throttle valve delete. I clicked on your link so you should get credit for the sale. Do you have a video for throttle valve delete? I'll search shortly.
No I don’t but it’s extremely easy
it might cost 2.3k dollars but i guarantee it saves more than that from avoided break downs and dead engines
Facts
Great video good job
So this would be the same on a 2021?
So do have to do anything with the DEF? Just drain tank?
You say in the video that 2021 trucks had the CP4 but I think that was just 19 and 20 right?
You are correct on the years. My 19 got the cp3 upgrade last year. That's when they snuck in the Cummins lawsuit recall sofware update which now is causing way too frequent regens and eating def. I'm going to put mine on a diet soon. Great Video.
I wish they made a kit that you could switch back and forth with a knob to delete and un-delete. I live in CO in a county that doesn't require admissions, so I should be fine. But I'm nervous if I move or my county every becomes uber liberal. Great vid though! I may have to play around and gamble a bit once my warranty expires.
There wouldn’t be any way of doing that because you can program the stock file back onto the truck but you’d have to put the factory exhaust back on too
When setting the battery charger, can you have it at 15amps? My charger doesn’t have a 10 amp setting and I don’t want to blow anything if that’s too much amperage.
Love the video keep up the great work I wanna get my kit ASAP
Do it man, they are having a cyber Monday sale tomorrow!
9:31 how can you unlock the red inside tab? I pushed it in and it didn’t hold the 3 wires so im trying to pop it back out
Why don’t this kit come with a monitor? Yeah you can use your phone but when traveling that’s a inconvenience
Love the video, the tune that comes with this kit, would it allow me to be able to pass emissions?
No this is for a emissions off system. But there might be emissions on tuning in one of those folders, I never checked but you could always ask them
Good stuff clean install too
Will the exhaust kit mess with the exhaust brake in any way?
Nope, your exhaust brake will still work after.
Thx i like how u explain with detail thx
What ECU profile or tune do you like the most for this truck?
hey man how good are these tunes? plan on deleting my 3500 but kinda iffy on the tunes
Thanks!
@Dark Iron Diesel did you get that bypass cable in your kit or did you order a separate one?
It comes with the kit I linked in description!
Happy Holiday!!! Please fo more video for L5p haha
I’ll try to get a kit for an L5P for a video!
This video has all the info i needed to delete my truck a week ago lol, i spent days doing research before i did my delete.
haha of course, that sucks. At least you can make sure you did it right
If leaving the egr cooler on, would you have to use any of the hardware provided or just the exhaust and sensors? Thank you.
Hey, so if I understood correctly, by installing only the 75hp or 100hp tune, I don't have to install the switch on the truck?
Correct if you install a single power level tune you do not need to install the switch
Do you know of anything for a 2024 without the ecu swap?
No you have to swap the ecu
Why is my truck have a little vibration when Idling after having it deleted?
I think I would clean it up some more so it doesn’t look like you took stuff off like a new exhaust manifold and new intake on it with out block off plates .
