2019-2020 had the cp4 pump and have the recall to switch to the cp3. I thought I said that in the video but it could have been a mistake that slipped by me.
Good day .... since i have a 2019 ram 3500 dually with the high output 6.7 with the Aisun trans & 410 gears. Would i need to change my gearing or is there anything in the tuner to change the transmission tuning to where it would run more economical ? My deleted 2018 2500 diesel i averaged 28-36mpg and i had my foot in it on the skinny pedal all the time city or hwy. granted it didn't have the 410 gearing and it wasn't a dually. I paid a shop to delete my 2018 so thats why i am asking these questions and refuse to pay them $ 5,300 compared to $ 3,150 to do the same delete kit on my 2019.
Hey unfortunately with the HO and 411 gears (which is what I have in my 2022) the fuel milage won’t be quite as good as a 2500 model with the lower gear ratios. But you don’t have to do anything different tuning wise, just make sure they know you have the Aisin. You will still see a fuel milage increase but more importantly you will gain the reliability and relief knowing you’re not suffocating your engine anymore. Also no more def is always nice.
Wish I went this way before my delete. After 6 weeks I have “lurching” at times. Mostly when stopping or slowing. I’m hoping to get it fixed by reprogramming it. Uggg. What a headache…
Just think how much money you will save with all the repairs you don’t have to fix and DPF you don’t have to buy and the life your going make longer with out all the junk going the motor .

@darkirondiesel. I have a 2019 Ram 6.7 it’s fully deleted. Def,Dpf, and egr . Also has a 5 position switch. I don’t have any information about the tune or who makes the switch . What options do I have . Thank you
The best thing to do when deleting if that's the intention is to install speed of air modified pistons and install banks engineering power pack which includes ram air intake box/big ass filter, monster ramhorn with grid heater coil, Banks intercooler and turbo modifications with a more free-flowing exhaust manifold that is thermal coated... To go full bore, also you would need to thermal coat the chamber on the cylinder heads do a poly quad valve modification with contour angle back cuts on the valves and super port the intake and exhaust ports along with speed of air modifications to the chambers as well... The camshaft would also need to be modified to logger torque cam specs where there's more duration on the intake than exhaust to help scavenge remaining combustion gases out of the cylinder during the exhaust stroke and provide much fresher intake charge and also helps spool the turbo faster and sooner... Because any amount of smoke out of the tailpipe is wasted energy and you want to maximize the engines capability to produce mechanical work energy from the crankshaft to the driveline... Gail Banks is the guru/expert to listen to when it comes to maximizing the engine's potential and mitigate / eliminate exhaust smoke.
"You don't have to drain the coolant". TRUE...unless you have a CHASSIS CAB. :( The EGR cooler gets it's exhaust from the BACK of the manifold (pray you don't seize a nut and break a stud off in the manifold). The coolant lines going to the cooler are different, and one of them goes to...guess where... low on the passenger side of the block in a freeze plug location. YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR COOLANT REMOVING THAT TUBE. Even more fun, the single 10mm size hex head screw that hold that tube into the block is IMPOSSIBLE to reach from the top, and even though you can get your fingers on it from below, there's almost no way to get a wrench on it and enough leverage to loosen it up. Accept that fact and loosen up the downpipe to get enough room to get your arm up there. Or, if you elect to do a full 5" replacement exhaust, make sure to deal with this coolant pipe from hell before re-installing the new downpipe. I fought that one bolt for 2 hours (but now that I know, I could probably get it done in 45 minutes). Fun Fact: You can't fully REMOVE the downpipe unless you remove the transmission crossmember (at least I couldn't figure out the magic wiggle), but you will be able to shift it out of the way far enough to get an arm up there. You will find the kit from The Diesel Dudes does not have any type of bracket to hold the coolant line that was stabilized by the EGR cooler. Fortunately, the lines are stiff enough that they self-support, although I will be fabbing a bracket off the exhaust manifold to ward off failure from excess vibration. And they're not kidding...it is near impossible to get to the drain petcock for the radiator and even worse to try and catch the antifreeze once you do. Good thing the coolant has a 10 year/100,000 mile service life. I definitely like the cleaner look of the removed EGR cooler and the access it gives to things like the turbocharger, but knowing then what I know now...I might have left it installed and simply unplugged the EGR valve if I had it to do over.
I couldn't get the single tune to work, kept getting to 99% then it would fail. Thought I messed my ecu up, but was a able to download OEM stock tune back

The only issue I had with my 5 inch exhaust was the furthest back exhaust piece kept rotating and hitting the spares heat shield making a shitty rattling noise even after impacting the clamp down. Anyone having similar issues can just have a buddy weld it or even maybe just tack it to keep it from rotating. I had a buddy weld it. Keep in mind it will be a huge pain in the ass to take out afterwards though.
This happened to me when I deleted mine and I took the heat shield off. I was a little weary at first due to the heat from the exhaust being so close to the spare tire, but I’ve had it this way for a year and the tire is just fine. So if you don’t want to weld it, just remove it altogether.

Hey bud thanks for the video. The 5th gens are slightly different from the previous gens so this was helpful. at 25:40, what is the purpose of removing that sensor plug under the throttle valve?
The throttle valve is non-functional with delete tunes, unplugging it helps ensure it does not close unexpectedly. (it is supposed to be spring-loaded to the open position by default).
Disappointed you did not delete grid heater. Block heater not enough up north? Thorough on details. Finally did my '08 2wd and with grid gone, Cummins revs up smooth. Reaching back for the last two injector tubes was toughest. Banks Pedal Monster causes grins.
This video has nothing to do about the grid heater it’s just about the emission system. Also, I need the grid heater where I live. Even the banks monster ram kit with heating coil isn’t enough for our climate.

Love your channel and thank you for posting it. May I ask, I'm not familiar with these GDP tuning files and sure not how they work. Please help to explain the functionality of the following tunes. 1. Ram 13-17 6.7 PK 68RFE, No Em. 0HP W/TCP-170 V2.4= does it delete ERG&DPF? 2. Ram 13-17 6.7 PK 68RFE, W/Em. Soft W/TCM V1.6. = does it delete ERG&DPF? 3. Ram 16-17 6.7 PK 68RFE, OEM Flash 32370731AE= Does it restore factory stock? I need tuning file that improves performance and does not want to delete EGR and DPF.
1. “No em” stands for no emissions, so that would be if you wanted to delete the egr/dpf/def 2. “W/em” that should stand for with emissions so that should be good to run if you’re keeping your stock emission system on the truck. It’s also a SOTF (switch on the fly) file so you’ll need to install the switch for different power levels. 3. That should just be a stock file just like the dealer would have had it programmed. Stock power, stock emissions, etc. If it’s ez lynk you should be able to tap on each file and it should give you a more detailed version there.
Thanks for helping. There is emission recall in 2024. State of California, USA require to complete the recall in order to allow registration or renew registration. I wonder the truck still be able to install custom tunes after completed this recall. Does anyone know?
Does anyone know where to find delete kit for a 2014 Mercedes Benz bluetec ml 350? Also how could I get fresh tunes for my MM3 old dusty gen 4? Feels like hard shifts in my 100hp tune… might need new 68rfe tranny tunes?? Thanks!
Thanks for the awesome video. Super simple to follow along. I have a question.. Do you recommend deleting the throttle valve as well? I’ve noticed in your videos that you just unplug it and leave it in place. I’ve heard it could possibly get stuck closed and cause problems. Thanks again man.
Plan to do this after holidays. My 1st diesel truck. Hopeful I can do it alone with no issues. The exhaust part seems simple. No emissions laws in my state. I have 2021, so I have cp3, thankfully.
Was he correct on the plugs on exhaust when you did yours? Seems like all years are different. I have a 21 as well and doing it this week. Just seeing how accurate this was to yours. Thanks
Thanks for the detailed video. Very helpful. I watched your video on the 2018, but it wasn't the ez-Lynk. Will the 2018 ez-lynk obd connector process be like this truck? One more thing, I ordered my diesel dudes delete kit direct from them before I found your videos otherwise I would have gone through your link. Sorry about that.
I’m about 17k away from hitting 100k on my 21 3500 6.7 HO. Once that happens I’m ordering this kit. Wanted to wait for the warranty to expire prior to doing this
You mention taping or otherwise sealing up all those harness connections going to the various sensors on the Cat/DPF exhaust components. On my 2018 Chassis/Cab at least, there is a single large multi-pin plug connecting that entire portion of the harness with the main vehicle harness with only ONE sensor still connected thru it. That sensor is located in the downpipe just ahead of the 3 bolt flange. You don't mention unplugging that sensor, but I confirmed the delete tunes don't utilize it anymore. So, the entire section of that harness could be unplugged and removed from the framerail, preventing all those connector plugs from filling up with road grime and getting corroded over time. There would only be that single large connector to seal off, and the delete job would look much cleaner. Also, the DEF tank on a Chassis Cab is HUGE and hangs below the framerail, so I chose to remove it also. I can confirm that the single plug that connects the controller mounted on top of that tank to the rest of the chassis harness can be unplugged and taped/sealed up at that single point also.
Yup, the EPA raids these companies selling the stuff, and seize the customer records. Two small diesel shops near me have been bankrupted by huge Fines.
@darkirondiesel Is there a parameter on the ez lynk app that actually confirms which power level you selected with the SOTF or to know for sure your sotf is working besides feeling it?
1st problem should be deleted and paid for by epa. We can't buy a million dollar fire truck off city taxes with the problems of them breaking down. Epa fbi cia needs to be deleted
Say a friend got a new 2024 Ram or Ford and went to Canada to see friends and/or family…how much of a pain in the ass is it to get a truck tuned and deleted. Asking for a friend.
Also The bracket that mounts on the manifold is different than the video but the instructions on their website are clear. They must have listened about the o ring bc mine slide in perfectly.
When setting the battery charger, can you have it at 15amps? My charger doesn’t have a 10 amp setting and I don’t want to blow anything if that’s too much amperage.
I seen on diesel dudes website someone commented they had ruff shifting after deleting sight concern of mine was wondering what was other people’s experience? Also if I’m planning on doing an Alison swap wouldn’t I need a need tune compatible with that?
They’ve sold hundreds if not thousands of these kits man, the odd time there’s an issue usually it’s user error and if it’s tune related you can throw in a support ticket and get new tunes built, but that’s extremely rare. And you’re talking about swapping the GM Allison transmission into your ram?
@@darkirondiesel thanks for the reply sounds good hopefully I do mine right lol.. but yea idk what exactly I want to do when the 68rfe goes out I’ve heard that the Alison was the best route
Great video, the way you talk normal and show everything really simplifies for people tackling this on their own. I have a 2020 L5p id like to do at some point and a video of you doing one would be awsome
Thank you. I will be making a video on the L5P in the future, I will try to make the video as simple and easy to follow as possible but I’m definitely not as comfortable with L5Ps as I am Cummins engines.
Hey Dark Iron… Can you please make a video about which truck is best after deleting it between the Cummins, the 6.6L Duramax and the Powerstroke for both performance and reliability. (Without being biased)
Yeah, it’s rare but you can have issues if you leave the egr and throttle valve plugged in. Irrational throttle, idle surges, engine lights, etc. it’s best to just unplug them and not worry about it.
@@darkirondiesel i really appreciate it. another quick question, my 3-4 shift seems to bog the motor. will that harm the transmission or can it be tweaked by gdp?
@@darkirondiesel I had an issue with proven diesel and their 2018 tune making my truck borderline undriveable. So they put the 2017 truck tune on mine and that one took
Hi Bro. What would be the best option to do a Delete to mine. I have a 2020 RAM 3500 Tradesman with Cummins and Aisin Transmission and it comes originally at 400hp, but I am currently installing an engine from a 2022 2500 Laramie that originally comes at 370hp, but I plan to leave my ECM on it. Can you tell me which is the best option for me please? Thank you.
I just did a delete on my 2018. My truck started after tuning with the EZlynk, But after I removed DPF and EGR/Cooler, The truck turns on but won't start. Dont even notice the starter trying to start. Any recommendations
I’d triple check all your wiring, make sure you didn’t unplug or break any wires during the job, also you could use ez lynk to put the truck back to the stock settings and then see if it starts (even though the engine light will be on) just to eliminate the possibility of a faulty tune file.
After doing the EZ Lynk tune and testing of starting the truck is complete, is it possible to delay the actual removal of the factory exhaust be delayed a day or so? To allow use of the truck until a weekend for time to remove the exhaust. If a problem for sensors only, can the plugs be disconnected and the EGR/Exhaust CAT/DPF be remove later? (just a day or two later to allow some driving like to work until more time to do the full removal and replace of new pipes (w/o CAT/DPF).
I do have a question I’m debating on whether or not deleting my 23 but from what I understand most of the parts are not available as of yet ? correct ? If the decision is to delete, all repairs, moving forward, are on my wallet, correct..
@darkirondiesel The written instructions for the race pipe suggest some tac welds between the sections that are clamped? any thoughts on whether or not that is necessary ? if so how much of a tac or bead and how many would you need in those slip connections
I wish they made a kit that you could switch back and forth with a knob to delete and un-delete. I live in CO in a county that doesn't require admissions, so I should be fine. But I'm nervous if I move or my county every becomes uber liberal. Great vid though! I may have to play around and gamble a bit once my warranty expires.
There wouldn’t be any way of doing that because you can program the stock file back onto the truck but you’d have to put the factory exhaust back on too
Are there any issues wiith 5" exhaust installation for Ram 2020 3500 with factory air bags? I read somewhere on another site about 5" having issues with air bags on Ram.
For normal driving and towing my tractor, boat and off road jeep. If kept on low level will it make that stupid smoke? I don't care for the stupid coal. But to remove all the crap and get a better sound sounds great. As long as it doesn't smoke all the time towing and pulling.
Did you unplug the throttle valve for this as well? As I stated in the last video, I’m running EFI live and not EZ link but I am trying to make sure that if I have to unplug it I do so. Thank you
While waiting on parts I already took off the dpf out. Then I read the instructions and it says I have to install the tuner 1st. Do I really have to put everything back together?
Nice video, thanks! While doing the delete it might also make sense to replace the grid heater (aka intake system) which is known to melt a bolt and drop into the intake. The pieces end up in the # 6 cylinder and catastrophic engine failure. At 20:10 in the video you are already at the intake.
Who makes a tune for my 05 Dodge 3500 5.9 and I will replace my turbo when it shuts and will go with a 64 turbo want to be able to tow and haul heavy so not looking for anything that will shorten the life of my engine and have had 3 fuel filters since new two 5 micro and one cat 2 micron so injectors are still good and I have 151k so a ways to go ,so what tune people do you recommend?
I have an 04 and 05, both are tuned by firepunk diesel. Awesome group of guys, and it's legal to tune our trucks so we don't have to jump through hoops. I have a 64 holset on my 04 with the 67 turbine, 100% injectors with a 10mm pump and that turbo flat rocks for a daily driver. Especially with some extra fuel.
With all the Banks upgrades on my RAM I know I’ve increased its value. I tow. But if you delete, you can be sure it will be harder to sell your truck. No average family owner that tows would buy a deleted truck, but they will definitely buy mine.

if i switch out the entire exhaust like you did will that sort of delete the truck if i disconnect all the sensors
1. “No em” stands for no emissions, so that would be if you wanted to delete the egr/dpf/def
Hey if you unplug it you shouldn’t have any problems. If you want to remove it that’s 100% personal preference.
Hello, just ordered my bundle, does it matter if you leave the tuner on or not??
Let's see a 20+ L5P duramax video. I've been waiting to do mine and there are very few detailed videos.
Love the content! 👏🤙
Hello. Nice video. Do you think the kit would work on a 2016 ram 2500?
Here is the link for the 2013-2018 ram kit. The install will be very similar as well. shrsl.com/49ixn
Your instructions are excellent, step by step. Really appreciate it.
I deleted my truck outside on a gravel road.
Excellent video. I’d be interested in a 1st Gen L5P video!
I’m working on getting one in the shop!
Yup, the EPA raids these companies selling the stuff, and seize the customer records. Two small diesel shops near me have been bankrupted by huge Fines.
@darkirondiesel
Is there a parameter on the ez lynk app that actually confirms which power level you selected with the SOTF or to know for sure your sotf is working besides feeling it?
And now you truck will live longer!
It will live forever!
Thank you for the detail and level of explanation, it allowed me to take on the install and made it successfully. Keep the videos coming.
With this setup, if you’re running either tune 1 or 2 (not driving aggressively) do you recommend head stud upgrade?
If you have a 21 , depending on when it was made . The back 2 are bolts with spacers on the egr cooler , they are not studs with nuts . They are 13 mm
Baby Jesus, with out this video I wouldn’t have been able to do this in my yard. 10/10 Great content, thanks bro!
I really WONDER how long till bad old EPA discover this guy????
Great video, the way you talk normal and show everything really simplifies for people tackling this on their own. I have a 2020 L5p id like to do at some point and a video of you doing one would be awsome
Thank you. I will be making a video on the L5P in the future, I will try to make the video as simple and easy to follow as possible but I’m definitely not as comfortable with L5Ps as I am Cummins engines.
Looking forward to it
Hey Dark Iron… Can you please make a video about which truck is best after deleting it between the Cummins, the 6.6L Duramax and the Powerstroke for both performance and reliability. (Without being biased)
Do you still have to use the tow/haul button after you delete 6.7L 4x4?
Why is my truck have a little vibration when Idling after having it deleted?
This is Fred with the EPA... keep up the good work!
why do you need to unplug it? my egr seems to be tuned out
You do that so you don't have any issues with it pinging a sensor or actuator that it no longer recognized. At least that's as much as I can figure
9:31 how can you unlock the red inside tab? I pushed it in and it didn’t hold the 3 wires so im trying to pop it back out
Do you know anyone with a delete kit for a 2023 ram Cummins 6.7
Will the exhaust kit mess with the exhaust brake in any way?
Nope, your exhaust brake will still work after.
Thank you.
If you’re using the 2020 ecm I would assume this kit would work fine shrsl.com/4ke06
Thank you so much for this information! 👍👍
Happy Holiday!!! Please fo more video for L5p haha
I’ll try to get a kit for an L5P for a video!
Thank you so much for the video. The 5 position switch should I hear any difference in engine sound. How I know if I do have more than 1 tune?
I just did a delete on my 2018. My truck started after tuning with the EZlynk, But after I removed DPF and EGR/Cooler, The truck turns on but won't start. Dont even notice the starter trying to start. Any recommendations
I’d triple check all your wiring, make sure you didn’t unplug or break any wires during the job, also you could use ez lynk to put the truck back to the stock settings and then see if it starts (even though the engine light will be on) just to eliminate the possibility of a faulty tune file.
Dude was the white stuff in the exhaust at 13:56 crystallized DEF???
After doing the EZ Lynk tune and testing of starting the truck is complete, is it possible to delay the actual removal of the factory exhaust be delayed a day or so? To allow use of the truck until a weekend for time to remove the exhaust. If a problem for sensors only, can the plugs be disconnected and the EGR/Exhaust CAT/DPF be remove later? (just a day or two later to allow some driving like to work until more time to do the full removal and replace of new pipes (w/o CAT/DPF).
Yes you can tune the truck then drive it for a day or two before you remove the exhaust but I don’t recommend driving more then 200 miles like that
hey man how good are these tunes? plan on deleting my 3500 but kinda iffy on the tunes
Why is the kit for a 2022 and newer so expensive?
Because you have to swap the entire ECM out of the truck, and those factory ecms are a lot of money
I do have a question I’m debating on whether or not deleting my 23 but from what I understand most of the parts are not available as of yet ? correct ? If the decision is to delete, all repairs, moving forward, are on my wallet, correct..
@darkirondiesel
The written instructions for the race pipe suggest some tac welds between the sections that are clamped? any thoughts on whether or not that is necessary ? if so how much of a tac or bead and how many would you need in those slip connections
There wouldn’t be any way of doing that because you can program the stock file back onto the truck but you’d have to put the factory exhaust back on too
If I already have a tune and I want to put an auto agent do I have to remove the old tune or can I just install the new one?
Are there any issues wiith 5" exhaust installation for Ram 2020 3500 with factory air bags? I read somewhere on another site about 5" having issues with air bags on Ram.
It’s very tight but I’ve always been able to make it fit
can i just delete the egr system? and keep the dpf,
No unfortunately it doesn’t work that way
For normal driving and towing my tractor, boat and off road jeep. If kept on low level will it make that stupid smoke? I don't care for the stupid coal. But to remove all the crap and get a better sound sounds great. As long as it doesn't smoke all the time towing and pulling.
It shouldn’t smoke and worst case if it does you can email them and get new tunes that inject less fuel
Hopefully they’ll have ram 2023 Cummins figured out soon so the exam don’t have to be swapped out
No need to take the egr off. It's shut off in the tune, just unplug it
Did you unplug the throttle valve for this as well? As I stated in the last video, I’m running EFI live and not EZ link but I am trying to make sure that if I have to unplug it I do so. Thank you
Yes in my experience you always unplug the throttle valve.
While waiting on parts I already took off the dpf out. Then I read the instructions and it says I have to install the tuner 1st. Do I really have to put everything back together?
No you should be ok
Nice video, thanks! While doing the delete it might also make sense to replace the grid heater (aka intake system) which is known to melt a bolt and drop into the intake. The pieces end up in the # 6 cylinder and catastrophic engine failure. At 20:10 in the video you are already at the intake.
BD makes a fix for the grid heater bolt and that’s what I recommend now
Who makes a tune for my 05 Dodge 3500 5.9 and I will replace my turbo when it shuts and will go with a 64 turbo want to be able to tow and haul heavy so not looking for anything that will shorten the life of my engine and have had 3 fuel filters since new two 5 micro and one cat 2 micron so injectors are still good and I have 151k so a ways to go ,so what tune people do you recommend?
That’s why I tell guys to keep their factory parts. Could put your truck back to stock in a day if you needed to.
Awesome info and straight to the point thanks
If leaving the egr cooler on, would you have to use any of the hardware provided or just the exhaust and sensors? Thank you.
You should do a video with a 5th gen and EFI Live.
Thanks!
