There are some flexible steering lines you can work around and you will have a straight shot window to remove the bolts, disconnect the plugs and the ECM instead of doing it on your head from the top. For higher mileage engines (80k and up), you might as well as replace the factory exhaust manifold because they are usually warped and are leaking. Smedling Diesel is the only company making a HD 2 piece for the 5th gen’s. It’s not cheap but it is robust. Get a SS stud kit for the manifold from a reputable supplier like Spoologic or such. Plan on the factory bolts breaking but with a pic or punch, you can usually spin them out. Use high temp antiseize on the new ones. The felpro exhaust gaskets are the best bet over the factory metal shim ones from all the manifolds I have done. The factory turbo flange gasket is expensive from the dealer but worth it. I reused the turbo studs and nuts (they came off as one) but bought factory replacements in case. Use red loctight on these. The exhaust on these trucks is super easy. Follow his instructions. DYNO DIESEL does not have the blank plug covers available anymore. You can get these from Sunny Diesel in a nice kit. The intake horn top delete cover is not like in the pics. It shows a o-ringed cover. They send a flat cover and factory style gaskets. Mine was damaged and I replaced it with a Sinister Diesel O-ring cover that seals better and is 💯nicer quality. Also just get the valve delete that the boost tube boot goes on. This entire kit is expensive. $35 more dollars is not breaking the bank. Their heater hose bracket is a new style and it’s beyond nicer than the older traditional bracket like in the video. It’s not worth trying to piece meal this kit together. The Stage 3 has everything except you want to add the optional EGT gauge. WHEN YOU GET TO THE TUNER PART, PUT A BATTERY CHARGER OF AT LEAST 10 AMPS ON THE BATTERIES. I had my larger 40 amp float on doing mine. You will be amazed how downloading to the ECM from RaceMe pulls so much power. I even have new AGM batteries and after 2 downloaded tunes the voltage dropped to 11.7v. ALSO, keep that tuner out of the sun and heat when loading tunes. Even after 1 hr in the freezer, it was warm after 8-10 minutes of loading. It almost like a cell phone that gets warm when you are using it a lot. If you get and ERROR 1 with a ❌ that is what it means. THERE IS NO PROVIDED DIAGNOSTIC INFO OR TREE TO FOLLOW. If you have issues, it’s a phone call or email and then a waiting game. You basically are learning hands on with each hiccup that pops up. And you need an updated laptop to transfer files and tunes. The tuner has an SD card in the upper top left corner (looking at the screen). They provide a usb flash drive adapter. You have to be very careful and pay attention when adding or removing times in the correct folders. I messed up dragging the wrong file with a similar name and had to go back and erase and re-download a zip folder they send. MOST OF ALL, the tuner is really not plug and play. Expect a solid week of getting the tunes, the deletes and the warnings lined out. If it’s your only vehicle, plan on having a backup because it may be down for a day waiting on tunes or if you’re having hell removing parts. This way you won’t be stressed about not having a vehicle to drive and mess up things worse. It is worth it in the end. It’s a PITA if you add doing the manifold, but do it once and do it right. Once it’s done is so clean and freed up under the hood & the truck runs so much nicer that it feels like a completely new truck & then you can admire your hard work. 2nd update: after driving about 40 miles the DPF reset to zero and the code is gone. Everything is right in the world and the truck’s running pretty awesome getting about 12 miles per gallon towing a 10,000 pound gooseneck in the mountains.

MY question is what makes this kit superior to the other one that is analog that they have for $2800 why pay 6k for it when is not showing more horse power gains? based on your dyno runs?
That carbon build up is astonishing owners should be able to sue the government for ensuring their trucks will only last a decade if theyre lucky. The government tries so hard to enforce this garbage but street takeovers are still a thing, drive-bys, thefts, and every other dangerous crimes are allowed to continue.
Indeed the only take away from this increase carbon out put I honestly wish we could solve this without be lazy and making the taxpayers pay for it but ya it just proves my point once again we as the taxpayer get fuxked for following the law while those who break them get nothing but a slap on the wrist and is able to do it again and again without any sort of serious repocoutions now I know someone that's gonna read 5his is gonna say but their making new security measure to make sure street take over don't happen and to that I will say it doesn't matter their still gonna happen yes their are people being punished severely but it's not enough especially now
Somewhat unrelated but do the newer 5th gens actually have as much engine failure as ppl say? even when they're maintained well? Love your content, would love to see you do a 3rd gen EcoDiesel
I don’t know man, I think they are pretty solid as long as you keep up with your maintenance. I’d recommend changing the oil when it says 50% life left.
Had this diesel dudes kit installed on my 22 ram. Ran great for 2 months until we had a cold front move in. When it’s below 40 degrees Fahrenheit truck cranks perfect, runs for about 8 seconds. Then cuts off. Says service fuel filter. Had them changed twice. Once temps warm up, truck is back to running like a champ. Definitely something up with the tune. Have spoken to another guy with similar experience in Cummins forums. No response from raceme for either of us… any advice?
Yes, contact RACEME CANADA, they have had this issues with a few trucks. I believe there’s a new tune revision you will have to program onto the truck to fix the issue.
What advantages do you get if you fully delete the truck? Compared to just tuning it & the exhaust. So I'm asking if you leave the egr on what the Difference than removing it on the delete
No DEF to buy, No DEF to freeze and crystalize in a Canadian Winter (which has happened on all of my diesels at some point, the freezing point of DEF being about -13 deg C), better fuel mileage (about 8% on my 2019), better acceleration, better progress through the gears, more effective exhaust brake, lower coolant temperatures - therefore longer engine oil life, no chance the EGR can jam up and cause a complete failure error code, opportunity to get rid of the achilles heel of a manifold heater... It's a list of all good!
You won’t notice much difference if you decide to leave the egr on (unplugged) but it guarantees no exhaust can re-enter the engine. If the egr was functioning properly at the time of the delete it shouldn’t let exhaust back into the engine, but the only way to be 100% sure of it is to remove it. It also opens up the engine bay and gives you more room in there but that’s just a bonus.
2019-2021 ecms should work but if it’s a used ecm I don’t know if this raceme procedure will work. You might have to ship both the doner and factory ecm away
Crazy question but i have to ask if i delete my truck and then a month later take it to the dealership to get a new key fob programmed to it will it mess up the truck and not start it?
No it shouldn’t but I’d always recommend you speak to the service manager and explain to them that they can not alter the program on the ecm in any way like no updates or anything like that
@darkirondiesel yes it is the same exact kit. thank you. I also have code P0254. I'm hoping it's just a tuning issue. The truck seems to run ok, but I don't want to drive it till I make sure it's fine
So if the tune doesn't peg the def gage full bad tuning??? Mine is on empty I paid 5k it been nothing but problems exhaust break doesn't work replaced turbo still not working did the exhaust manifold gaskets whats next help
Empty is fine, some change it to full some change it to empty. And on my personal truck the tune didn’t even change the gauge at all, it still shows the actual level. All I meant was if you tune it then notice the def gauge changed (to full or empty) that’s a good sign your tune worked
In your opinion do you think there will ever be a day where you’ll be able to delete it without swapping the ECM? I’m asking cause I have a 22 megacab with 20000 miles and just wondering if I should ride out the warranty and pray that by the time it’s over it won’t cost me $6000 to delete
Well it took them like 4 years to figure out how to tune the factory ecm on the L5P Duramax engine, so while yes I’m hopeful that one day they will figure these ecms out, you could be waiting a long time.
Nope it should be completely fine. If you ever wanted to you could put your factory ecm back in the truck and reinstall the emission components and it would start right up and run as it did before.
@darkirondiesel but putting just the stock ECM without the emissions equipment will not work, correct?? I think that's what he's asking.. switching between deleted and stock emissions equipment every year would suck
That’s kind of a hard question to answer. Yes, there are a couple companies that claim they can tune the factory ecm with efi live but it’s only for the SO models with the 68rfe, and it’s only a STOCK delete tune. They can’t add any power or tune for any engine upgrades like turbos or injectors. Additionally, there’s a chance you will lose your cruise control along with other glitches. I know a couple guys that have tried it and while it technically does work it usually comes with its fair share of problems. That’s why the ecm swap is still the way to go. As soon as there’s a solid reliable option with the factory ecm I’ll make a video immediately.
The aisin takes a long time to shift well in my experience. One time I did a burnout and it took over 2 weeks for it to start shifting smooth again after. My advice is just drive the truck nice until it starts shifting nice. The aisin has a completely separate computer so the engine tune doesn’t affect it at all. It’s probably Just taking a while to adapt to the increase in power
@@darkirondieseli have it on stock power. I contacted RacemeCanada and we'll see what they suggest and respond with. Pedal becomes completely dead during shifts so I'm assuming it's defueling.
@@darkirondiesel I don't have any power increased. It's on stock power. Pedal goes completely dead during shifts and makes it a rough shift. It's defueling hard.
Valley center has a way to single tune the SO trucks without swapping the Ecm. A video on that would be killer. Also how’s this working with the 23+ full digital dashes in the limited trims?
So nothing against valley Center, I know they are just trying to figure out these ecms and make a more affordable option, but to make a long story short we tried their tuning and it’s just not ready. It’s only stock power single tunes, can’t tune for bigger turbo or injectors, there’s a chance you lose cruise control, it’s just not a good option for people who want to buy a kit, install it and go. The ecm swap is the proper way to do it, trying to use the factory ecm is the “farmer fix” if you will. But we are constantly monitoring the situation regarding tuning factory ecms and the moment we believe there’s a good reliable option out there I will make a video asap.
@@darkirondiesel thanks man, have a 23 limited longhorn with full digital dash, I had a feeling the tech just isn't there yet with getting rid of the def gauge and such.
Question... I know another site offers tuning and delete options for 22+ trucks and basically says, "hey this may or may not work on all trucks, good luck and no refunds after you give us 6k." Can they actually guarantee this kit will work on my 23 cummins?
If you get this kit (I linked it in description) it will for sure work for your truck unless it’s a cab and chassis model, then it might not work. But if it’s a 2500/3500 pickup it will work.
@@darkirondiesel sweet definitely not a cab chassis. Can you leave the egr in place and just run the blockoff plate? I live in Cali so unless I hypothetically register it somewhere else, very realistically might have to swap back every two years
If you want SOTF there is an ECM swap so there is a few extra steps to copy some data over, but rest is the same as 20-21. Single tune is real easy, done through the OBD port.
lol the transmissions aren’t that bad. If you delete your truck then go drive it like a sports car then ya you might have issues eventually with the transmission. But if you drive it responsibly I know guys that have had a 68rfe in their deleted Cummins for a decade without having a single issue.
If you’re goin to all the trouble of deleting your Cummins, why wouldn’t you go ahead and put on an aftermarket intake horn, the plate that the intake horn mounts to (the one that is dropping the bolt into number 6 cylinder) and do a CCV delete??! And why would you go to the trouble of putting in a muffler?
Why? Because all that stuff costs money and money isn’t an unlimited resource. And for the muffler, because not everyone wants a super loud straight piped diesel especially on a truck that spends its whole life hooked up to a gooseneck.
@@darkirondiesel you’d be surprised. A lot of them have either been taken down or they are a super poor quality video that is hard to make sense of. Those and 6.4s just don’t have many vids out there

Any progress?
@@coltencooper5733 yes thank you for reminding me I had this comment here! I updated and added alot more information. I will admit I was frustrated writing the original post as I have a 80k truck not running and about 8k in parts installed 😂. I edited it and posted updates as well as tips to make the job easier. @@darkirondiesel reeeal good. Thanks
Great videos man. I so wish this wasn't illegal in the USA... I have a 21 Silverado 3.0 that I'd love to so this on. but epa.. yeah... sucks..
@@darkirondiesel thank you for the response boss man. I’ll reach out to them in hopes for a solution. Keep the videos coming
What about a throttle vale delete
Nice! Glad I have a 06, man I want a new truck but don't want to deal with all that shit...
Have both
Do you think a 2020 ECM could be used as the doner in a 2022 to delete it or does it have to be a 2021 ECM?
2019-2021 ecms should work but if it’s a used ecm I don’t know if this raceme procedure will work. You might have to ship both the doner and factory ecm away
How many miles were on that? That carbon in the intake makes me sad. Gotta get this for my 23
There isnt a write recovery file on my tuner when i click ecm, anyone have the same issue?
Crazy question but i have to ask if i delete my truck and then a month later take it to the dealership to get a new key fob programmed to it will it mess up the truck and not start it?
No it shouldn’t but I’d always recommend you speak to the service manager and explain to them that they can not alter the program on the ecm in any way like no updates or anything like that
Can you do a video on a 24 ram 2500 with the hp tuners and delete.
What do you mean? If you have a 2024 you gotta buy this kit and it’s exactly the same to install it. There is no HP tuner delete for these
I have a service electronic throttle control light on now any ideas,
If it’s this exact kit in the video call raceme CANADA on Monday they can get it sorted out
@darkirondiesel yes it is the same exact kit. thank you. I also have code P0254. I'm hoping it's just a tuning issue. The truck seems to run ok, but I don't want to drive it till I make sure it's fine
Thanks for your time & Vid
Great video, very easy to follow and thorough. Wish the kit wasn't 6K US !!
Yeah it sucks that these new trucks require an ecm swap. It more then doubles the price of the kit for the 2019-2021

Nice vid. No bs🤟
No shipping to CA.
It’s truly sad that I have to say , Thanks Canada the land of the free ish for letting our trucks remain good
Do u think this could mess up the truck if I swapped between tuned ecm and stock every year to get a sticker?
Nope it should be completely fine. If you ever wanted to you could put your factory ecm back in the truck and reinstall the emission components and it would start right up and run as it did before.
@darkirondiesel but putting just the stock ECM without the emissions equipment will not work, correct?? I think that's what he's asking.. switching between deleted and stock emissions equipment every year would suck
If he just put the stock ecm in the truck and left it deleted it should still start but it’s going to have a ton of codes and be in limp mode.
can't you tune the new ones with efi live without changing the pcm now
That’s kind of a hard question to answer.
Do you think a 2020 ECM would still work?
I deleted my dodge & it still knows its on a hill and derates the truck to a certain speed. I have the cab & chassis & manual trans.
How does that Aisin shift? Mine is terrible. Same tuning.

Just to confirm you can leave the whole Egr intact and just remove the exhaust?
Yes you can, just unplug the egr and the throttle valve if you’re leaving it on.

I live in Cali so unless I hypothetically register it somewhere else, very realistically might have to swap back every two years
Why is he changing the ecm?
2022-2024 can't be cracked for tuning (they can for single tune emissions delete but not for shift on the fly tuning or for more HP)
@@ryanmitchell4266 I was just wondering , I just bought a 2013 and was hoping I don’t have to change ecm to delete egr

I’m hoping in the next couple months but it’s very similar as the 20-21 video I made
If you want SOTF there is an ECM swap so there is a few extra steps to copy some data over, but rest is the same as 20-21. Single tune is real easy, done through the OBD port.
