Wow this process seems wayyyyy easier than the last video I just watch lol heck yeah
I have never hated a car until I owned a ford vehicle. They for sure care more about money than anything. These cars keep breaking down almost every year, and the location of most of their parts are so difficult to reach that you almost forced to take it to a mechanic to replace something. Thank you so much Ford.
Thanks. Just needed to know how to open the hood. Got the rest of it! Lol
Does this procedure apply for both a four cylinder and a six cylinder engine?
What they don't tell you is to remove upper passenger side engine mount.
How does one do that, is it fairly easy?
@@pioneer7777777 ìt should be, provided that you don't get a bolt or 2 that is too tight. And you need to Jack to support the engine.
@@pioneer7777777 yOU DONT, HE IS WRONG, REMOVE THE LOWER BOLTS HOLDING THE MOUNT TO THE FRAME - LEAVE MOUNT IN.
I’m currently changing the alternator out of my 2017 escape. I’m trying to see if I can get the alternator out without removing the engine mount as I don’t have a Jack to hold it up
@@dddave28sponagle6 did you????
Wow. I think it took about six minutes to replace an alternator on my 1967 VW
Why Haynes manual sux. My Escape alternator is at the bottom of the engine. You need to remove the axle to get to it.
Handy for the (same engined) 2015 Focus, many thanks!
Forgot to mention the most important part
REMOVE WHOLE ENGINE MOUNT and reservoir
Just dismount reservoir and swing over towards drivers side and secure with bungee, no need to remove hoses.
I have a 2001 Ford Escape and this is not at all where the alternator is placed. You have to remove the right front axle or remove the motor completely
Yes. Same for my 2007. It's on the very bottom back of the engine. You have to disassemble and remove the drive axle on the right side. I still can't get to the top mounting bolt...
Can someone tell me please why are there no videos for newer model escapes?
thats a huge difference between the 01 and 17. quite a few changes to the engines between those time
Does this apply to 2015 Ford Escape with turbo 2.0L eco boost, gasoline?
No it doesn’t, try this instead ua-cam.com/video/GqrI8wFgqF8/v-deo.html
Going to say maybe at this point, this is my task today!
Doesn't apply to 2004 models with 3.0l V6 engine. Alternator is on bottom near firewall.
YES... I do believe they need to adjust the title to reflect the correct applicable model years. I'm getting ready to replace mine... might as well replace the CV joints while I'm at it.
You guys missed an entire step on how to raise the engine
first gen alternator is on the bottom towards the firewall. this vid is not for 01-17.
Nor does it apply to the 2004 escape
@@davidkelley6295 sorry. what do you mean?
@@jchinderle just saying the same thing you essentially said. 2004 model can be considered part of the first gen builds.
@@jchinderle THIS PROCEDURE IS INCORRECT FOR THE EARLY 2001-2005 (and others).
Why does it seem like all the adults left Ford and that children are running the show.
This is not for 2012! It is similar, but this is not for a 2012 ford escape model!
Not sure of why they have you loosen the Left front wheel lug nuts? No explanation for that
Would be nice if they showed how to remove the coolant tank. Know my terms aren't right. But showing step by step from beginning would be nice. It just disappeared. Someone wanna change my alternator 😢
This video is the wrong information, noticed the alternator is on top, Ford Escape have the alternator on the button passenger side,
DO NOT FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTIONS!
Lower the engine, raise the engine, slide the engine back. Sure, no problem. Remind me to never buy a Haynes manual
You were never going to buy it lol
Not even the same set up I was looking for. These sites are useful but not like this 😂
Not for 2011 V6 3.0l. I guess this is for 4 cylinder.
MuchAs gracias
The title in wrong - for a start. The video does NOT apply to pre-20213 Ford Escapes. They are a totally different platform.
Sloppy…..
Bs not the same for a 2013 Ford Escape, alternator is at the bottom
Think it is correct for 1.5,1.6! Working on a 2.0 and will share all I uncovered.
2.0 alternator is lower, does not seem to go up to get out. I am at a stand still due to one bolt behind the a/c compressor. Once that is out I am going to try and bring it out the inner tire well on passenger side. A/C compressor is loose but man there is not much room for sockets, wish I had stubby box wrenches.
Any luck?
Lol those Harbour freight jack stands
Not a 2001-2007....2013+ Maybe?
Just like their worthless books "Step 1, turn off your car. Step 2, replace your alternator. Step 3, start your car and you are ready to go."
These cars are terrible to do maintenance on!
this is 100% BS for 13-17 models. first off, you have coolant and refrigerant lines there. you have to remove motor mount-mount first.
99 explorer remove alternator
The 08 to 12 years have the alternator located on the bottom of the engine this is a useless video!
04 escape v6.....this video is useless to me
Wy will nobody post about a 4 cylinder every video is a v6 and I have a 4 cylinder
