    This is a great video. Very well explained. Even with Alldata or Idetifix you dont get the little shortcuts that make the job easier. Both of those say to evac the ac system and pull the compressor completely. As the GM of a repair shop myself, i can't recommend this mans videos enough. Im happy to provide the service when needed but equally as happy to help provide the knowledge to not need the service in the future. Thank you for what you do.

    Daniel...
    Thank you very much for posting this. I had to do mine & since I'm diametrically opposed to spending that kind of money for a shop to do it, I was inspired to do it myself. After spending time on the cold, frozen ground doing this stuff in my youth - I try to avoid it if I can, but the quote was just too high & I couldn't see paying someone else - no matter how lazy I've become. I crawled around mine, checking it out & thought to myself: gee....this'll be fun....not really.
    You saved me a lot of time & headache. My family kept checking on me cos I wasn't hurling a string of expletives at it. So...again...thank you, sir. I really appreciate your time & effort.

    No... Thank you, my man. I have a 2011 Escape as my main vehicle (it's a work horse!!!). I've been off work for almost a week and haven't gone anywhere and was going to go to the gym this morning and discovered that my battery is dead. I was wondering how to remove the alternator and this video and another gave me enough information so that I could pull it so I can get it tested just to make sure it is good. I remember my first car, about almost 40 years ago, I was an aircraft mech in the USAF. None of the guys including myself really worked on cars. I would drive the car and go about 20 or 30 miles, stop, then come back out and it wouldn't start unless I got a jump. Not knowing anything about cars, no such thing as Internet, and all the guys around me giving me bad advice I couldn't figure it out. Also, Chrysler was talking about trowing in the towel, so parts for the car were hard to get. Needles to say I sold the car to one of the guys on base, he knew exactly what the problem was, and just didn't tell me until he bought the car. See, I and most of the guys thought it might be the battery. Naw, it was the alternator. After that incident, I started learning more about cars, and have done and do most of my own work on my cars. Thanks again.

    Didn't show the most troubling part of the removal. What tools and angles did you use to remove the top bolt‽‽‽‽‽ The most room I can get from the top of the engine is about 1/16th of a turn without hitting the fan shroud or the front grill support. Non-standard tools needed? Would've liked to have seen the tool and its usage.

    • @fixitdaniel
      @fixitdaniel  2 роки тому

      Hey thanks for commenting the reason why I never mentioned the tool for that star stud is because I didn't need one I could actually use my hand and hand tighten it until it hit the end where it stops and then just slides right on so it was really smooth to take it off and really smooth to put it back on I didn't even need a tool to get it on there but if you do need a tool I would probably recommend using something like channel locks or some locking pliers or try to find a little small socket on the end that can fit over that star pattern but I didn't need one I didn't need a tool to get that off because it was really easy with my hand
