From the first video I saw of John, I knew it would be only a matter of time before it blows up. I hope I will have the chance to bake with you before you’re too big for a little person like me haha.
He is just the most fun to watch and learn from in the UA-cam baking community.. He is smiling all the time and he makes things looks easy and fun to do! i’ve tried A LOT of his recipes and all of them turned out PERFECT and AMAZING and so easy! this cupcake is gonna be on my list for sure! Thank you so much for your hard work ❤️
I’m watching this a year from when this video was posted...I can’t believe how much he grew in a year! It’s also so surprising... he hasn’t changed a bit. He’s still the same old bubbly John that everyone loves. Thank you for your videos! ❤️
Here in Ireland we don’t have German chocolate cake - never heard of it before your videos! But pecans , coconut and caramel frosting sounds heavenly ! Have to make it for my mums birthday on Saturday!
By the looks of it I would hazard a guess that "German chocolate" translates into "Zartbitter Schokolade" ... if that's the case, Ritter Sport or Lindt sell it.
I really wish u knew how much I love ur channel.... I've started my bakery business and ur tips and tricks have taught me so much o didn't all the way know thank u so much
I just love watching your videos. I for one have never really liked baking because it seems so much more complex and it stresses me out on how exact you have to be but you make it so fun and easy. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. I love also how considerate you are of the viewer.
I made the cupcakes and the German chocolate cake for a gathering on Sunday may 27th and everybody loves the dessert . Thank you so much for sharing your recipes and your time .
This recipe looks delicious! I have the double sided scraper paddle, and I highly recommend it! Also, if you don't have the gadget to remove the cupcake middle, use an apple corer! Thank you for this sweet recipe!
You honestly deserve more followers than Tasty. Your production quality is fantastic and OH your recipes are DELICIOUS and I’m surprised you don’t have millions.... at least, not yet!! Always such a joy to watch your channel!
OMG someone who loves sweetened coconut flakes as much as I do!!! when I was a little girl and my mother asked what type of cake I wanted for my birthday, I always asked for German chocolate cake. Yum!!!
OMG, this receipe is it. I just made this for my husband for his birthday. That is his choice for his birthday. I don't even love german and I am in love. Amazing, thank you .
Quick question, you say to add 2tsp baking powder, but the print across the screen says 2tsp baking soda. Which should I use? Thank you for all your great recipes and your BEAUTIFUL energy and personality. Unlike some baking "professionals", you are so genuine and humble and make me feel like even I can do what you do! You are the best!
In the 70's my mom used to send my dad off to the mill with 3 slices of 3 tiered German chocolate cake because other workers would steal it out of his lunch pail... It was legend in our town. She used the recipe on the Bakers chocolate bar, like everybody else but she add other chocolate and doubled the frosting recipe! I'm pretty sure the double frosting is what made it a winner!
I love how you present making these delicious food. 😋 I don’t know if I should keep on watching or go and try out these yummy recipes. Thank you for such a fabulous show. My hubby and I love your channel.
I have to ask ... with so many delicious recipes, and all the testing that you must do to perfect them, how do you stay so trim? With a young family I guess that you can't have too much time for an epic exercise regime so how do you do it? As a novice baker I would really appreciate if you mentioned how long to beat and or mix the ingredients - I think that I either under or over mix sometimes when things don't turn out as I expect! Thanks again for a great looking recipe (I will do my best to resist having the frosting on toast for breakfast ... but the flesh is weak)! Have a lovely evening!
His creations look absolutely beautiful and set off sugar cravings in me. Nevertheless, no matter what size one is, these should be eaten sparingly and reserved for special occasions. Too much sugar is the culprit behind heart attacks.
I made your recipe for German chocolate cake and it was amazing!!! I’m wish I could upload a picture for you! Thanks so much! I’ve been following you for years ☺️
These cupcakes look so delicious and decadent. I made your strawberry pie today but only with a gluten free crust. (Celiac disease) I didn’t have enough strawberries on hand so I threw in some blackberries. It really turned out great except next time I will put less lemon zest and juice and a tad more cornstarch as it was a little runny. I decorated the entire top of the pie with a whipped cream design. It was so pretty so thank you for the recipe.
This looks like the best thing ever made! I'm wondering if the ganache stays in the middle or if it soaks into the cake if you don't eat them immediately.
Sadly, I missed this one along the way, but Ganache in the middle THEN the topping? YOU ARE EEeevviilll!!! Warms my little black heart, it does! 😀👍🖤💋💋💋 Your Florida Fan, Aszneth
I'm a huge fan! I made these cupcakes this morning printed off the recipe from your blog. The instructions called for coffee but it was not included in the directions. It was like putting together IKEA furniture, ended up with extra parts. :(
@@alamb245 yes because I'm not supposed to eat alot of the things he prepares. I get really hyped up when I see a video from him then most time get depress at the end. I'm allergic to gluten, peanuts, soursop (and anything from the sap family) and a bunch of other stuff. But I cheat sometimes though. I love baking and my daughter does too, whenever she has practical at school, we adapt some of the things here (that applies)and tweak it a little. I've tried a good amount of his stuff and give them to my little cousins and they love it. I'm going to stop the jabbering now☺️🙈 sorry
I can’t believe I’ve just come across this video! Going to attempt this for my first time (for a retirement party) which I was intimidated about but to make it look so easy and looks delicious!! ❤️ Question: with this recipe, does it only make a dozen cupcakes? So I know to double the recipe! Thank you!!
Thanks John! I noticed that though you said " two teaspoons of baking powder" the words that appeared in the video were "two teaspoons of baking soda! HUGE DIFFERENCE!! I decided to go with the baking soda because that's what one would usually use when making German Chocolate Cake but we'll see...
Loved this recipe, and loved how funny your videos are.... adding the first egg, LoL. The cupcakes look sooooo good, I'm definitely going to make some soon. Thanks so much for your videos!
John, these look amazing!! I'm currently binge watching your channel and watched your original German Cake video earlier - I'm curious about the different use of eggs in the two recipes? In the whole cake video, you beat the whites separately and then added them in; the batter looks significantly lighter in both texture and colour. I'm just wondering what the main difference will be in the result of the cake, and if so, do you have a preference? And would those methods be interchangeable (i.e. could I follow the whole cake recipe to make cupcakes if it does make them lighter?) Thank you so much for all your videos, they're presented beautifully and I'm learning so much from you!
I think the mixture would have not gone all over the bowl had you maybe not used eviscerate speed. That being said, these look amazing. I'd be the size of a house if I were your partner.
I'm making these right now.. same ingredients... double checked the measurements... haven't put them in the oven yet... but my batter is so much lighter.. and thicker.. not dark and runny like yours in the end!?
The same happened to me. The cupcakes turned out a little crumbly and it was difficult to core them, still delicious! But I believe it has to do with the baking powder/soda confusion.
The Preppy kitchen has the best recipes and tutorials on UA-cam! Thanks for the yummy recipes!
The quality of his videos is insane.

He's the Steve Irwin of cooking: Always positive, always bubbling with energy and that radiant smile. Hehe, a lot less rumpled, though.

@@phin1969 lol - the question is powder or soda? - lol
The recipe on the site says baking powder. So two out of three are powder. Also, not sure the mixture would be acidic enough to work with just soda.
