I've added melted chocolate to your easy buttercream & it works great 👍🏻Also you mentioned using browned butter & trust me it's so worth it! I brown my butter, & toast both my pecans & coconut. It's TO DIE FOR. I even went super EXTRA once and used toasted sugar in the custard 😂 Thanks for all of your great recipes & tips!

Oh no! Did you use fresh egg whites or pasteurized? I find fresh eggs easier to whip into meringue. And are you using a metal bowl or a plastic one to mix? Sometimes leftover grease or fat can hang on to a plastic bowl, and that can prohibit your meringue from whipping to stiff peaks. So I always clean my bowl and whisks with a little white vinegar before making SMBC.

I used to never like German chocolate cake (was never a coconut fan), but they say your tastes change as you get older. When my cousin and her boyfriend moved into a house together, I offered to make them a cake, and they wanted German Chocolate cupcakes. Tried it again, and OMG. Yeah. It's a good one. Never be afraid of trying anything again that you didn't like as a kid.

I'd use coffee instead of water, too. I've never met a recipe I habei"improved".
