Victoria I know right. I loved that he showed the little quirks and mishaps that happen during the baking process. It gave the video so much more personality and made it much more interesting to watch.

▢ 2 medium eggs
▢ ⅓ cup veggie oil 80mL
▢ ¼ cup hot coffee 60mL
▢ 2 tsp vanilla extract 10mL
▢ 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour 180g
▢ 1 ⅓ cup granulated sugar 265g
▢ ¼ cup cocoa powder 20g
▢ 1 tsp baking soda 6g
▢ ½ tsp kosher salt 2.5g
For the Chocolate Swiss Meringue Buttercream:
▢ 5 egg whites room temp
▢ 1 1/2 cups sugar
▢ 1 lb unsalted butter room temperature 450g
▢ 1 tsp vanilla extract 5mL
▢ 1/2 tsp kosher salt 2g
▢ 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate

I made these and omg! They are amazing. This was my first time making and eating swiss meringue buttercream. Let me tell you, I will never use any other frosting. It's that good. This recipe was so easy to follow. Thank you John! My in laws and husband loved them! (And my husband is not much of a cake fan!)

I made this recipe tonight and the cupcakes 🧁 and frosting were so good! I don't usually bake with sugar or gluten. My daughter has been asking for chocolate cake for a long time! This was my first time making Swiss meringue frosting and its now my favorite! So light, buttery and not too sweet.
I made these cupcakes for my son's birthday last weekend. OMG, I made 40 cupcakes and all gone in 1 sitting. Everyone had doubles and triples. So so moist and yummy!

Just made these and OMG!! So delicious, fudgy and moist. I was a little intimidated at first making the Swiss Meringue but it was actually so easy and just took some patience. The icing came out so light and airy with the perfect balance of chocolate and sweetness. Great recipe to make if you need to make a lot of cupcakes because they do rise a lot in the pans so you barely need to fill them cupcake liners. Thank you!

Harley I’m a teen too! It’s a lot easier to bake when someone in your family loves baking too,bc then you’ll have all the ingredients at home (and not have to pay for them 😆) 💕
Here’s an easy recipe that requires hardly any ingredients:
Mix 2tbsp cocoa powder with 1-2 tbsp boiling water,set aside
Mix 100g melted butter,100g flour,2 eggs,the cocoa powder water mixture,100g sugar,1 tsp baking powder.
Pop in oven at 170 degrees celcius until cooked.
Hope this helped! Not anything mind-blowing or fancy,but tastes pretty good and fun and easy to make!

I made this recipe yesterday and it came out so good! A nice thing that would be nice to see for the next recipes is if the oven needs to be ventilated or static. I'm not sure if this option exists for ovens in US, but in Europe it's very common and it can really change the outcome of the baking.

Okay, making that Swiss meringue buttercream was a magical experience! The best part was as I added the 3rd to last tablespoon of butter, it magically changed texture and it was so fun to watch. And the taste and texture! I’ve never tasted a frosting so light and flavorful. Amazing! I’m making the cupcakes tomorrow and then delivering to my fellow middle school teachers during virtual p/t conferences - another reason I love your channel and probably why you are so good at teaching these recipes.
For the chocolate buttercream he said half cup or 10oz. Half a cup of chocolate right? Bcz 10oz isn’t half a cup as he verbally says in the video. Maybe he goofed on that part (10oz). Just checking as you made it. 😊 I’ll be making it tomorrow. Thanks!

I was, however, confused by the difference between the recipe on your video and the linked recipe on your website. I was trying to use your video as a guide for the recipe and had different amounts of ingredients prepped.

I made the cupcakes and it was so moist and yummy. Thanks for the frosting, and I did Swiss meringue buttercream frosting for the first time, could do it so easily and it was so amazing. Thank you.....
