Over the past few years, my health condition has become more and more complicated. From digestive problems, high blood pressure, complete exhaustion, inexplicable pain and more. I went for various examinations, but nothing was found. I had a dream about a month ago. I was in the clinic and explained to the doctor that I drink a lot of water. She replied that I should take niacin. I admit that I didn't know what it was until then. I've been taking 500g a day for three weeks now and my condition has really improved a lot. All my thanks go to Jesus. I asked him for help.

Niacin and niacinamide are two forms of vitamin B3, which is an essential nutrient that plays an important role in many processes in the body, including energy production and DNA repair. While they are chemically similar, there are some important differences between niacin and niacinamide.
One key difference is their effect on the body's blood vessels. Niacin is known to cause a dilation of blood vessels, which can lead to a sensation of warmth and flushing of the skin, sometimes called the "niacin flush". This effect is thought to be beneficial for cardiovascular health, as it can help to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow.
In contrast, niacinamide does not have this effect on blood vessels and does not cause flushing. However, niacinamide has been shown to have its own unique health benefits. It has been found to be effective in treating a variety of skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and has been studied for its potential to help manage conditions such as osteoarthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
So, while both niacin and niacinamide are forms of vitamin B3 and have some overlapping health benefits, they do have some distinct differences in their effects on the body.

    • @healthyfolks
      @healthyfolks Рік тому

@@lurdesrebollo5621 Yes, it is generally safe to take both niacin and niacinamide together, as they are both forms of vitamin B3 and do not interact negatively with each other. In fact, some supplements and medications may contain both forms of vitamin B3 to provide a comprehensive range of benefits.
However, it is important to note that high doses of niacin can cause side effects such as flushing, itching, and liver damage. These side effects are less common with niacinamide. Therefore, if you are considering taking niacin supplements, it is recommended that you consult with your healthcare provider to determine the appropriate dosage and to monitor for any potential side effects.

    Thank you, Dr . Berg
Just want to point out that we Mexicans still eat corn that has been soaked or heated in water + lime (i don't mean "lime" like a lemon)...
The tradition to make the original Mexican staple food known as: la tortilla can be confusing, because in Southern USA people call the flat bread made from wheat flour: tortilla.
Most fundamentally, the corn-based tortilla is made from "nixtamal" as written in Spanish. Nixtamal is the dough, corn treated with live lime overnight. But nixtamal is also used to make tamales, enchiladas, sopes, tostadas, tacos, quesadillas (originally meaning "folded tortilla"), and fried turnovers (not made with wheat flour).
Just like wheat flour combined with some sort of fat produces a fibrous dough, similarly: corn flour combined with live lime produces a fibrous dough. Both are doughs that can be easily worked or molded into food items.
Perhaps the advantage of flat bread, whether made from wheat, or from corn, is that no yeast is added in order to fluff it up?
Seems like my body benefits from staying away from bread that contains yeast.
    Does that make sense? :)

This is purely anecdotal, but after having a small squamous cell carcinoma removed from my forearm, my dermatologist recommended two 1000 mg tablets of niacinamide daily, which I took for about two years. You didn't touch on recommended dosage, but this amount I was taking is 62 times the RDA as I understand it. I am older, in my early seventies, and thinning of the skin comes with the territory, but I noticed even the slightest brush with a thorn or small limb would result in bleeding, and any significant contact with an object with my hand or arm resulted in an almost immediate bruising. I also noticed an increase in heart rate. I recently took myself off the niacinamide and noticed these symptoms disappear in a matter of days. From the "for what it's worth" department....

Something you hinted at is the principle of effective dose, the idea that there are three windows of consequence for any medication. Any drug (or vitamin) will have a window of ineffectiveness, a window of benefit or effectiveness, and a window of toxicity. In almost all cases this is dose-related--a dose that is too low will have no benefit; a dose above that window and below the toxic window will be beneficial. The RDAs for example are supposed to be in a range that matches that middle window. This also helps one understand the potentially severe side effects of some medications such as those used in chemotherapy--the benefits window is so small that it is easy for the therapeutic dose to cross over into the toxic window.
In very sharp contrast, with only a few exceptions (iron, copper, vitamin D2, etc.) the benefits windows of supplements are quite large and permit relatively large doses without entering the toxicity window.

Hello Dr. Berg! I always watch all your videos and love them because they are full of a lot of good information. I just want to make a comment about Niacin , I started taking it to lower my cholesterol but after about one week of taking this supplement I started experience dry eyes. Of course I didn't put together this side effect with the Niacin supplement and I continued taking it for almost one month. Finally after researching in the internet about what causes dry eyes, I founded out that Niacin is one supplement that causes dry eyes. I immediately stop taking it and it took me about 2 weeks to get my eyes back to normal. I know that everybody might experience different side effects, but I feel if there is anybody out there having this problem and not knowing the Niacin cause this side effect this information could help. Thank you for all your teaching and I really hope this comment is not taking in bad way, because is not my intention . I continue fallowing you always!!!

I really enjoy these overviews of vitamins and minerals and the reaction they have on your body. It greatly allows the use of simple supplementation to see if certain ailments are deficiencies or overconsumption of certain compounds. There are so many facets of how our body uses everything we consume that its hard to know what affect things have without being able to wade through the research. Understanding this stuff in combination with understanding organ function has allowed me to have the most control over my health to date. I now have some tools to regulate the effects of living a normal life. So, thank you!

Doctors offered me no help at all. Never even suggested Niacin. Then a year ago I found that two of my heart arteries were blocked. Niacin (nicotinic acid or vitamin B3) activates the HCA3 receptor, which can influence adipose tissue and fatty liver. It may lead to reduced fat cell size and increased fat breakdown, akin to some effects of a ketogenic diet. Both niacin and keto can impact fat metabolism and potentially help reduce excess adipose tissue and improve fatty liver conditions, but they achieve these outcomes through different mechanisms. A ketogenic diet shifts the body into ketosis, primarily by limiting carbohydrates, while niacin affects these processes through HCA3 receptor activation and lipid metabolism changes. Individual responses can vary, and consulting with a healthcare professional is essential for proper management.

Why not use no flush niacin in the form Inositol Hexanicotinate? There is conflicting info on the web, but also studies indicating a reduction in LDL, triglycerides, cholesterol, lp(a) and an increase in HDL. Arguments are made that serum levels do not spike as fast as regular niacin, but are released slower and thus remain in the body longer. Just like liposomal vitamin C.
