AMD hid the true power of the RX 5700... here's how to unlock it

  • The RX 5700's performance has been artificially locked by AMD. Here's how to access the full power of this mighty Navi GPU.
    The AMD Radeon RX 5700 has played second fiddle to its RX 5700 XT bigger sibling. The more powerful card has more compute units, and more Navi cores. It's also clocked faster and comes with that stylish dented shroud. But the RX 5700 has been artificially locked down to stop enthusiasts tweaking the clocks to deliver the same performance as the XT version. If not... better.

    Ive tried it on the stock benchmark in far cry primal. I went for 1440p all utra setting without anti alliasing. I had without doing stuff min fps: 59 average: 80 and max 87. Totall frames 4032. 37% of vram. With doing what you told (i had the same settings) i achieved min fps: 63 average: 84 and max 97 and totall frames of 4227! So thats about 10 fps+ on the max and about 5 plus on average and 200 fps+ in totall. Used 35%vram on this try.
    So I would recommend it! Thank you😄❤💪

    • @PCGamesN

    • @AnujeetRoy09
      @AnujeetRoy09 4 роки тому

      @@PCGamesN I know. But even the most simple overclocking on a Vega 64 is a weirdly difficult thing to do. Any change from stock settings makes it crash and forces it back into stock from Global Wattman. I believe I got a bad deal on the silicon lottery for my ASUS ROG Strix GPU, but when even the Turbo mode in Wattman crashes the card and ends up defaulting to the Balanced mode, I don't think flashing in custom BIOS from a group of open-source devs is a bad idea, of course, it's in my case and since RX 5700 is a completely different architecture, it might be a solid thing to do and get *free* upgrade to something that's more similar to an RX 5700XT.

    • @humanbeing9079
      @humanbeing9079 4 роки тому +1

      @@AnujeetRoy09 you simply can't compare different gpu architectures. By "can't" I mean it's utterly idiotic for you to even raise this concern in the first place.
      Vega is fabbed on 14nm and Navi is fabbed on 10nm, so they have completely different characteristics clock wise on a silicon level.
      Also Vega has HBM2 while Navi has GDDR6, HBM2 was notorious for possibly being locked from overclocking, tons of people reported outright crashes after changing memory clock.
      Navi's overclocking headroom is bios locked unlike Vega, it's nowhere close to silicon limits, so you are guaranteed to get more performance from this. All of the above apply before even talking about the architecture.
