The GPU crisis wasn't bad if you had certain GPUs. You could free upgrade. I also had a RX 480 since 2017, I paid around 200 when it was new, got 350 on Ebay for it during the mining hype. I never believed someone would just press the immediate buy button and pay, but thats what happened. Insanity!

Nice video, keep the good work, I have the same 5700 for a year, the first time when I bought it for 100 euros it reached 106 degrees in the apex with the fan at 70%-80% (vacuum cleaner sound) after I opened it and saw the abomination of a dust cover covered the radiator (absolutely no air passed through it), I cleaned it and now it is at 80-90 degrees in heavy gaming and the fan stays at 40%

That's totally crazy that you found it for that price during the crypto boom, because the 5700 XT is a very strong crypto mining card (much stronger than the 6700 XT, and I think stronger even than the 6800 XT). If you had known, you could have probably traded that for a 6700 XT last year, or just sold the 5700 XT to the highest bidder and then bought something like a 6700 XT with the money. The crypto boom was definitely on the decline back then, but 5700 XTs could not yet be found for a good price until late 2022.

I bought a new RX 6600 late last year for $200 new at a local tech store in Idaho, USA & man idk if I could be happier with any other choice.
My i7 4790 had quite a bit more life in it over my prior GTX 970 & I mainly game at 4k. In the vast vast majority of titles it’s 99% usage on RX 6600, almost every game is at or above 60 fps & almost a year later I’m still incredibly happy with my purchase.
Likely soon I’ll buy a cheap office PC with high end parts & add my GPU to that. Still however the 4790 goes strong, if a 5700 was available at the time for cheaper I likely would’ve purchased that instead but it has been super cool to turn on RT here or there.

    • @mynickisalreadytaken
      @mynickisalreadytaken Рік тому +1

Man, upgrade your CPU now! I went to almost the same with my PC. 4690K is a tad slower than yours, but my R9 280X died and i got an RX 6600 wich ran great. But when i paired it with an "old" i7 8700, the boost was great. not in every Situation. But it made everything work better together. Especially in more modern titles with more CPU load. I never thought this will change so much, but it did.
Since an 8700 is around an Ryzen 3600, you could get a used AM4 Platform for really really cheap i would say. Than, you can also put a fast NVMe in your System. My z370 Board even has ReBAR working. An man. DDR4 Ram. make sure you can have fast Ram. Ryzen is a bit better with that as we now in these Generations.
Sorry for being so direct. You know all this yourself i guess. It is just amazing to see how many people seem to pair Haswell and RX6000 Cards.

Maybe I got lucky or maybe I am just used to blower coolers (had a reference 970 before it), but mine never felt as loud as everyone complained about them being (although I think that might have been more acute on the XT?). Happen to really love the aesthetic too. Really clean, simple card that doesn't protrude above the bracket or extend into the third slot. Throw on a backplate and it would be perfect.

12400F the CPU I´m going to buy in a couple days. Have checked whats all available both new and used and the 12400F and a B760 are by far the best price-performance option available in Germany, already picked which mobo it´s going to be. Got a very weird requirement for a new mobo for most people, I need one with Toslink otherwise it´s a pass, don´t have a digital dolby amp to feed it analog. And I´m going to spend a few € extra for colour theme matching RAM (Fury Renegade 3600 CL16) for the Pro B760-P Wifi and a Pure Rock 2 Black Edition; black with silver accents, that´s going to look great. And RX 5700? Not for like 120-130€, in my case to replace a 480 Red Devil, for 80€ I wouldn´t think twice otherwise RX 6600 aren´t that much more used but I would rather go for a RX 6650XT which is 240€ brand new with two years warrenty, think a new one which in defenite wasn´t mined on is a bit more appealing in the end, also the additional perfomance nothing to be looked over either.

I recently repaired a MSI 5700XT X GAMING - coming from a RX 580 4GB to this was a great leap in performance , I use it as me Budget Gaming pc i've built.
a Gamble paid off as the GPU was on eBay as a faulty not working and managed to repair it via thermal re-paste and flash VBIOS as it was a custom BIOS (not Minning though)
paid £80 with postage-average price of mine is around £170-£220 so absolute bargain i found but was lucky with fixing it

I'm still using my 5700 that I bought back in 2020 for somewhere around $330, it's held up pretty well. I haven't encountered the driver issues that you did, but I guess by then the drivers had probably matured a bit. It was an upgrade for me from an RX 480. Now I'm looking at either picking up a 7800XT or a 4070.... if the price gets pushed down, it's a horrible card at $600

    • @samk7500

Interesting, nearly identical tiers for my past and future upgrades too lol. RX 5500 when I wasn't gaming, RX 5700 XT/3060 Ti after the mining crash, maybe 7800 XT once it's cheaper. Below 7800 XT isn't compelling for an upgrade imo.
I think I'll sell the 3060 Ti and keep 5700 XT for the secondary PC. 3060 Ti is bottlenecked due to the same 8gb of VRAM in some of my games anyway.

Just picked up one of these renewed from AliExpress for CAD$190 (about $140 USD) and paired it with a Ryzen 5 5600. It’s an absolute beast for just about any game at 1080p!
And the upcoming FSR 3 (which will hopefully get quick support in lots of games) should further improve performance with less visual fidelity loss than FSR 2.

With a 75 hz monitor and playing 1080p I couldn't ask more from it. The difference in price between this and the XT is significant where I live, around 60 dollars, and when compared to the rx6600 it is literally half its price. Love it to bits!

March 2011 is when 1080P became the standard gaming resolution (via Steam survey). And today, in 2023, you're using Dynamic Resolution to run 1080P. That's great? I purchased a 120Hz 1080P monitor back in 2012. I didn't buy it to run at 60Hz. That would be dumb. Now it's 2023 and I've got a much faster modern GPU and Nvidia want to me to use fake frames to even reach 60fps at 1080P. We're being lied to.
