If you have an RX 5700, then it's most likely that there is the same tier model above it in an RX 5700 XT form, and if so you will be able to force flash that into an "RX 5700 XT" (using atiflash which I will show you how to fully do in today's how to/ tutorial).
This will grant you performance somewhere inbetween that of a regular 5700 and a 5700 XT (though more on the side of the 5700 XT). So in order to do this we need a few small apps and some command prompt commands :).

FREE Performance? I love that price-performance ratio!
Pretty sure you don't even have to flash your GPU bios to do this tho. Well except if you want your slightly overclocked 5700 to try to look like 5700 XT.
Tech yes Price-perfornance lovin'!!
But it doesn't fix AMD's crappy drivers.
@@basshead. AMD only has crappy drivers in Windows. In linux, like I use, the drivers are better than Windows Nvidia drivers.
+Arsen Musayelyan Less than 10% of PC users use Linux.
I just got my rx 5700 today and I flashed the bios, and it turned it to a full fledged XT with the extra clocks and shaders. I ended up undervolting and slight overclock and it is staying at 75c max. All in all thank you for the walkthrough im very happy with my card and only 350 usd.
Hey man, was your RX 5700 a blower model? I have one, but I'm worried with the temps
@@lucascampos494 No it was a xfx tripple-d .
Nice, been waiting for an updated guide on how to tune my 5700 :D
let us know the result
How did the flash go ?
I have a Powercolor 5700 Phil, thinking of flashing it to a 5700 XT. How did yours go?
i did it on my rx 5700 pulse, temps are a bit up but with a undervolt to 1.1V instead of the stock 1.2 volt temps are good and fan speed low and the boost clock is now higher, perfect!
how did u undervolt your car please help me
@@nephilimslayer in wattman, or what is used to be, basicly in the performance tab, to undervolt properly you need something to stress the gpu while you lower the voltage, i use heaven benchmark in windowed mode to i can easly have acces to the amd software. So while the benchmark is running liwer the voltage of your card step by step ie: 0.05 steps, and at each stop let it run for like 1 min just to check, do it until you get artifacts or your pc crash. If it does so go back like 2 steps just to be sure, (you don't want your pc to crash in the middle of a game :p) also undervolting doesn't damages the gpu the crash and artifacts are just the results of the gpu not having enough voltage it can't broke that way. And lastly while your testing your undervolt, close everything in the background, so that you don't have a crash wheb your is maybe updating something
Um but im pretty sure stock rx 5700 voltage is something like 1017v not 1200v
@@JonelKingas yeah but when you bios flsh it to the rx 5700 xt it set the default to 1.2v
@Fitrah I stayed on the non xt drivers and no no real changes in stability. However i ended up using the power play tables mod, that way i kept the OG bios but i was able to slide the clock slider to 2000+mhz
Done this to my Gaming X non XT... It's a bit scary but once it is done, it's super stable and faster! And only with a 10 degree difference in temps! Highly recommend doing this if you have one of these cards!! Good job as always Mr. Tech Yes City!!
Don't have a 5700 and not getting one, but that thumbnail made me watch the video
Awesome walk through. Wish you would have done an OC of the card with 5700 bios and compared that to the 5700xt bios and any OC you could have squeaked out of the XT bios also. That is what I want to see.
Stock 5700 vs 5700 OC vs 5700xt flash vs 5700xt flash OC vs a normal 5700xt
Also make sure that Msi afterburner and rivatuner is closed.
Hey, I'm typing on a tablet so excuse me if I make mistakes but basically I flashed my 5700 to XT yesterday and ever since, some games black screen/crash or just won't launch at all. I have been using afterburner and riva so if I uninstall them do you think it may fix the issue?
@@Jckkx use DDU from guru3d an reinstall the drivers
@@Jckkx I think your card isn't able to accept the new bios bc not all chips are same even if they are exact model, Try switching back to your original bios and overclock manually with a little bit of undervolting as well.
@@Jckkx First try 5700 XT drivers, then bios, my advice.
@@Jckkx what card are you using ? May just not be stable at the xt clockrate. Not all cards are created equal. You really lose the lottery tho if it's not a driver issue. Xt bios gives way too much voltage by default. I can flash mine and undervolt down to 1.1v without issue.
It's free
And that's a great price.
we should get money for that 😂

just flashed my 5700xt to 5700xt 50th Anniversary just for shits and giggles... and yes it worked.. but im pretty sure it was pointless.... just did it to see if it could be done...
The AE is just an up locked 5700xt so you could have done the same thing just by moving the sliders up.
Couldn't you just rename it to 5700 Super ?
Thanks again Brother Tech Yes City...... I just bought a Msi RX 5700 "Mech" today from a Msi RX 570 8GB and I just flashed the bios to the XT variant of the card I own, and like every video I follow along with you, VOILA >>>>>> I saved 75$ and now I too have a "flagship AMD GPU!!!!" You are a GEM Sir!!!!
I am getting a Mech OC 5700 in the mail soon. How hard was it for you? I would really like to do it but I'm checking out other people's result to see how difficult the process was to complete. Thanks
5700 PULSE USERS! I suggest undervolting your card too with a max of 1000-1050 mV cause 1200mV is overkill. Worked for my Pulse flashed 5700XT. With this, and an aggressive fan curve (around 60-65% max speed) my max temp was 62-64 degrees under 100% gpu load with clocks reaching up to 1890mhz (way more than amd’s artificial locked frequency boost). I use MSi afterburner and also set the limit clock to 1905mhz. Any higher and it’ll be too hot and will throttle itself.
If anyone else got better results on the 5700 Sapphire Pulse please let us know,
As amazing as this card is, it’s sad that Amd stomps it’s potential for greatness
Saved my E-bay purchase the pervious owner didn't flash it back now I can test it. Thank you!
Tried this with my Gigabyte 5700 Gaming OC and ended up reverting to the stock BIOS because I was getting blue screens all the time, not to mention the GPU fans were spinning like crazy. I also run a 1080p 144Hz display, and the non-XT 5700 already exceeds 144FPS in most games anyways, so it just isn't necessary for me.
Worked like a charm!! Unfortunately the card (MSI RX 5700 Mech) doesn't have a decent enough cooler and actually throttles quite a bit so the performance gain was minimal. Definitely need a custom PCB with a beefy cooler to make the most of this.
I was hoping to try this on my mech! Thanks for the warning!
@@_RedsTech_ been running for 3 almost 4 years and its still doing great
I did seem to increase my 3DMark Time Spy score by 10%. Flashed Bios for XFX RX 5700 to now a XFX RX 5700XT. Runs a couple degrees hotter after gaming for a few hours. Not a huge difference but fun to do.
Bro i know its a old comment but can you help me get the xfx 5700xt bios?
I have the same gpu model as you
A tip for all of you! If you do this, I would recommend going in safe mode with networking. Reduces the chances of failure.
I tried doing it in safe mode and it wouldn't work. For whatever reason the program kept closing saying I needed administrator access even though I opened it as administrator. I was using the Windows (not DOS) version of ATI Flash so maybe that had something to do with it. I ended up doing it in regular Windows and everything worked out fine.
In addition one might consider disconnecting from the internet as well.
Nice! :) I already shared this video in my countries FB group so the guys who need a guide could use this boost.
Thanks Bryan for one more video! :)
It's nice to see that you can do this. Still in my country the price difference between the MSI gaming x 5700 and the 5700XT is just 15 euros. So it's not really worth it.
MSI 5700 (NON-XT) Mech OC owner here. Worked perfectly. Used MSI 5700 XT Mech OC bios in the database.
Dude how is your gpu junction temperature. Mine reaches about 105 in epic game settings. Im not sure how further it would go after flashing.
@@emirhanyldz2795 I had to RMA my Mech OC 5700 (not related to the flashing). It constantly overheated, just like yours. It's apparently a known issue for the Mech OC lineup. The card they sent me in return also had the issue, so I sent that one back as well. Third card they sent has a weird vbios that's undervolted and has a max frequency of 1850 MHz @ .974 volts. If you like, I can upload this bios for you.
I believe the high junction temperatures are due to incorrect mounting pressure. This third card they sent me doesn't have the issues you describe (and that I also had previously). imgur.com/a/AAXgjek
@@cieuxlux9617 Thank you for your response, Im still in warranty. I might change as well, but I'm not sure if 100-105 junction is a problem bcs it rarely happens in a specific game and my room is too hot as well
Temps are tested in PUBG ultra settings.
I have the xact same RX 5700 model from MSI. I did everything what you said and it helped a bunch, ty. On the other side my temperatures raised much higher to 79/80°C (before the bios update it rarely even went above 66°C) and junction temperature was just shy of 100°C going around 98/99°C. Also fan curve is A LOT more aggressive. This is great if u want free performace but I dont think it is rly worth it. The GPU is great as it is especially for 1080p but if you are using 1440p monitor I think those frames that you get can then make some difference if you dont rly mind those higher temperatures.
The thumbnail is absolutely legendary
If you do this with an MSI card on a 5600, make sure your vram is rated for the memory bandwidth.

Great video mate
Just did this to my Asus Tuf RX5700 and I went from 1850MHz max OC to 2100MHz with same temps. lol.
Great video as always. I do have a bit of a random question for you since this you are using a 5700 right now. I am having a problem where mine crashes to a black screen then my PC resets as soon as the GPU hits 70c. I know this is the problem as I can duplicate the issue when doing tests on furmark. Is this a problem you have ever experienced, and is there anything you can suggest on fixing this issue? I am considering taking the back off and seeing if changing the thermal paste helps at all as I have heard that can. Anyway thanks for your time to anyone reading this and I appreciate any advice. Built the system in December and this just started happening last week.
Thanks.
Great video.
Is necessary switch the driver of the graphic card after do all this steps?
Considering the core count of the 5600 xt and the fact that they use the exact same pcb and ram modules as the 5700(at least in the case of my gigabyte gaming oc 5600 xt), what are the chances that you could add ram modules to a 5600xt and flash it to a 5700?
So interestingly I've been running my 5700 as a 5700XT for almost 2 years now. Only today the clock and memory speeds dropped to zero and I had to reflash it as a 5700. No longer will it work when flashed as a 5700XT. Anyone else experience this?

After the shitstorm that is the RX 6000 series card releases and not being able to grab a card, i'm seriously thinking about taking my saved up money and just buying a custom full water loop and flashing my 5700... crank up my components as much as possible. It's the reference blower style card as well so no more thermal throttling (even though it rarely happens, it still do happen from time to time).
I got a feeling that it will take a while for GPU stock to get back up to speed so I think i'll be sticking with my 5700 for a while.

HEy brian great tutorial video as always man. tks.
For me as much as i want to support AMD i had to put my rx 5700 pulse for sale cause i have had it with the driver issues , i mean i tried , the card is a great card , and it was running with less issues than some people out there with the adrenaline 20.1.2, as soon as 20.1.3 came out i installed it and my pc transformed into a buggy pile of s....! got back to my old GTX970 and became a happy man again, and as crazy as it may sound there are some games where i can actually have more performance. never had AMD card before and when i decided to change this all driver thing gets in the way and ruins my experience and downgrades my opinion on AMD software. so for now, "fanboyisms" apart no AMD for me.
Cheers and keep it up

@@MarcoGPUtuber Excellent video with detailed info on how to flash a card. I can say this is a 10/10.
Thanks! This was helpful!!!
You can try the more power tool when you dont want to play with the vbios. You will also get better results but you can melt your card when you are using a stupid amount of power without proper cooling.
I fing love you bro!
Can you OC on top of this? or has the card reached it's limits by doing this, or is it safer to just oc the card from the start and be done with it?
You can OC but there isn't much headroom
if you can OC to the same performance without having to raise power limits it would be better, but i doubt it. If the power limits were the same then yes you would end up with the same results, but i doubt it, that's why AMD cut you from doing it in the BIOS and why you need to do this, in theory i mean, all had to be tested, but pretty sure it's what is going on.
Yes you can still oc and undervolt after the flash. Since what the flash is actually doing is allowing you to access the true power limit of your card. Amd locked the power limit with your bios so that it wont canibalized the the 5700xt. That is also the reason why the 5700 is better than the 5600xt while having the same chip. The board has hardware to boost the clockspeed ( 8+6 pin pcie, vrms etc. 265 bit) While the 5600xt has 1 pcie power only.
Or you can just get the xfx dd ultra 5700. It has a 1960mhz clock speed out of the box. Stock is only 1760 mhz. Its only 309 usd on amazon. Also has the thicc 2 ultra xt cooler
@@ronaldsanpedro1976 price is down to 299.

I'm hoping the cooling on my reference RX5700 is able to cope... I don't care about keeping it chilly, I just don't want it to catch fire!
You have to undervolt the reference cards, the stock cooler can't take the heat the 5700XT BIOS puts out
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv That's wrong! The card's hot spot sensor will stop the card from getting hotter than 110 degrees . AMD has said that the 110C heat is completely normal for the 5700 series. However, a better cooler can give you a higher boost. I have tested my reference card for several hours with 98-99% load, with hot spot + 110C.
Got mine flashed and clocked to the standard XT 1905mhz and undervolted to 1.075 with custom fan curve
hey bryan what do you think about upgrading from a gtx 1070 to rx 5700 xt?
MEXGriiM The RX5700XT performs around the same as a GTX1080 and GTX1080ti (in some games, which in turn performs around the same as a GTX2070 and GTX2070 Super (in some games.)
I have a Aorus GTX1070 Extreme, Aorus GTX1080ti Waterforce and a Sapphire RX5700 (non XT.)
The jump from a GTX1070 to a GTX1080ti is very noticable (for me.) So yes it is a jump up, but the question is are you willing to spend around €350,00 / €400,00 (The Netherlands pricing) for the jump.
Hope this helps 😉

Technically if you have a GPU with a VBIOS switch and the flashing fails for whatever reason, you don't need a second GPU to recover it. Simply turn off the computer, flip the switch to the 2nd VBIOS, boot into Windows, flip the switch to the "broken" VBIOS and simply proceed to flash it with the original VBIOS. Hopefully someone finds this useful.
Would you do this even on a blower style RX 5700?
The thing is, the one part of the PC that I ever had to return due to malfunction several times over the years are graphics cards!
I do not think it is worth saving some money to void your precious warranty which can wield you a bland new card later if it breaks down within warranty.
i have to ask, Why would you recommend someone to use gpu-z to save the bios when atiflash does the save thing by just clicking save? i've heard gpu-z wasn't the best for this task but anyway just curious as to your reasoning thanks

will this process void the warranty ?
THANK YOU
That sounds like a good idea, but i have the MSI MECH OC 5700 and it only has one 8 pin power connector.
Would it be wise to try and flash into the XT anyway?
Yes, it can definitely be safe. In fact, the last eat ATIFlash has a pretty good menu to help "Save" your original vbios.
Another video by another great UA-camr, F7GOS, explains in the video at around 3:30 to 3:55 how to save a vbios already on your card. Link here: ua-cam.com/video/z3QIiMJjv7w/v-deo.html
After that, you can follow the rest of the tutorial here by Tech YES City to flash your card. Have fun :D
@@amightygrizzly The flashing isnt what concerns me, its that the 5700 is 180 watts and the XT 225 watts. Can a single 8 pin handle that power!?
@@eddualmeida5790 Yeah. I looked up on this website graphicscardhub.com/graphics-card-pcie-power-connectors/ and others. It seems the highest voltage output through a 8pin(plus PCIex16 slot on motherboard) would be 225watt.
So, 225watt is a standardized maximum when using a GPU through a 8pin connector. Yet, how much amps and/or voltages goes through your PSU's 8pin connector. You might back able to do it if your PSU is strong enough on that rail. Yet, if you do flash the GPU, will be be reaching a standardized maximum on your 8pin connector.
So, technically, *Yes*, you could flash your GPU and you would get to the 5700XT levels of performance. Yet, you will reach your absolute limit in power consumption. And if the 8pin connector on your PSU can reach above 225watt(through it's high amps/voltages), your MSI Mech OC 5700 will be able to stay a 5700XT considering the MSI Mech OC 5700XT uses a 8pin plus a 6pin connectors(equaling around 300watts of maximum power consumption).
So, if your PSU could hold at least 275watt on the 8pin connector, I think you'll be good. Yet, if you want to play it safe then don't.
@@eddualmeida5790 Funny enough, here is a good example of what would "most likely happen" if you did flash another vbios on your GPU. ua-cam.com/video/dMgK-cFeflE/v-deo.html
@@eddualmeida5790 The video link is when the R9 270 Bryan tried to flash a R9 270x vbios on it. The R9 270x had a larger minimum power consumption on a R9 270x bios. The R9 270 couldn't handle the consumption so he lower the clocks and in turn the voltages down to then re flash the R9 270 back to its original bios.
I personally use a R9 270x from ASUS as a Direct CUii model OC edition. It has two 6pin connectors. I bought it used and it shocked the buyer when so plugged in the major 6pin PSU connector and not the other. So, I told him, "the 6pin on your PSU has a higher amp/voltage output, so it can run the ASUS DirectCUii R9 270x just fine." The reason I'm telling you this along with the buyer I got the R9 270x from is because this GPU I own is an OC edition. The minimum power consumption of the R9 270x could handle itself on the single 6pin connector cause the extra 6pin connector is designed to help bring more power consumption if your original 6pin connector has a standard or lower amp/voltage giving out regular/less power.
You also have to take into account that sometimes the actual power consumption might not reach it's maximum out of safety concerns from the majority companies not wanting to fix your PSU or GPU if your exceed the maximum power consumption or power limit on your GPU or PSU.
Right now, I'm using two 6pin connectors from my good PSU on my R9 270x OC edition with it two 6pin connectors to major overclock and way overexceed my power limit on the GPU's regular "standardized" power limit. Yet, my 650 PSU's two 6 pin connectors have good amps/voltages that can more than handle those higher overclock speeds.
If you where to flash your 5700 graphics card, just don't overclock after you have flashed it to a 5700XT bios. Make sure you have high enough amps/voltages on your PSI's 8pin connector. And save your original bios. Then your pretty much good to go. If it doesn't work out, then go back to your original bios on your card. It's sadly enough a big trail-and-error to find out all these limits you can reach on your electronics. Yet, if you don't flash, then hey! You have a MSI 5700 Mech OC GPU which by the way looks totally awesome and is watching, WAY more powerful than any of my personal GPUs I own and use :)
Yeah well I have the F 5700 reference model. Maybe not such a great idea to flash it?
Well, maybe with a custom fan profile...
Wait... Can someone tell me if I should buy a 5700 xt or just buy a 5700 and do the stuff he did in this video.????
U can do that with any AMD card. Turn RX 460(base) to RX460(1024 cores or maybe RX 560 with the same brand), RX 560D to RX560, r9 270 to r9 270x, RX 470D to RX 470, RX 5700 to XT....
I can't find compatible bios for asus rx 5700 Evo oc , do you have anything to recommend? Thanks , great video!!
Any ideas, what card i should go for here please, i want to buy 1 and maybe another 1 later. Not going big::
--ASRock Radeon RX 5700 Phantom Gaming D 8G OC Graphic Card
--SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 5700 XT BE 8G
--MSI RX 5700 MECH GP OC
--GIGABYTE Radeon RX 5700 XT GAMING OC 8Gb
--PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon™ RX 5700 8GBThey really the same price bracket here give or take a variance of 60 USD - do i really need an XT or is the vanilla fine?
I will use this card for general purpose movie play back some video encodes and casual mining:
Should I not do this on my blower 5700? I am sad I did not buy the better one :(
