This guide will show you how to clean install the latest Pocket Go 2 (New Pocket Go) Rogue firmware. This is the best and latest CFW for the New Pocket Go! Make sure to back up all files before they are deleted! You could always try this on a new SD card!

Thank you so much. It helped me a lot. It worked fine with my PocketGo 2 V2 flashing a brand "new" 1.0.8 image to a brand new SD card. Now I'm going to start fiddling with the ROMs.

@Vincent He DID warn you about that - you should never do any of this kind of CFW install to your main SD Card - always have spares.

how did you fix the issue of it not wanting to power on? im having this issue now. tried the 1.0.4 but it doesnt work... any ideas?
René Wauben If I remember correctly, I think my issue was my SD card was partitioned incorrectly before writing the Rogue firmware with the win32 disk imager app. I had extra partitions for some reason. So I just removed all the partitions and created one simple volume formatted in fat32 as described in the video at 4:11. Then just followed the rest of the tutorial.
This was the advice I needed. I have the PlayGo (a black version of a PocketGo) reformatting on a mac. So if anybody have a similar problem, this video is for you!
What program did you use on a Mac?
@@JCdragon81 The program to flash the sd card is Balena Etcher. You can reformat the card on your Mac with the Mac program Disk Utility (remember FAT32 or FAT only). If you haven't upgraded to Rouge yet, you can upgrade directly to Rouge 1.0.2 without previous versions.

Oh snap. I thought you was working with a new card. If some reason, the card that comes with the system is total garbage. Most of the emulator enthusiasts recommend using a new card for a new start. Hope you got far with the little advice I can give you. And yeah, the N64 emulator for the Pocket-go series is trash. So wait for the envelopes to come up with a better one for this system.
Wha Eva what you offered helped. Just confirmed I was going on the right direction. Felt I might have been doing something wrong. Thanks for the heads up on the N64. Don’t have much interest in it. But for friends who do.

Just in case anyone has the same issue, you do have to hold the power button down for a decent amount of time. Just hold it down until you see the splash screen, it just takes a bit of time, to the point where you might feel uncomfortable lol.
On MacOS Catalina you can use BelenaEtcher! No need for renaming file extension. Just select the downloaded .bin file and BelenaEtcher to write the image file to SD-Card. Confirmed working 18.01.2020 :-)
Etcher works on Windows too.

So, basically, this handeld console is the same as PlayGo. The only differences are screws and a black color right ? If i need to install things on my PlayGo, it'll be the same as for Pocket Go ?
Hello. How to adjust screen brightness ? I installed this Firmware and now i can't adjust brightness by Select + Volume
If, like me, you don't like the analog cap you can replace it with a psp nub. You will have to lightly file/cut the inside of where it sits on the analog stick, but works perfect after.
Can you show me how to do it?

Hello, Could you make a Video on how to add / scrappe mage images to the different emulations ? I've seen a video where lets say the SNES emulator would show the game imagine in the top right corner.

I used this instructions and now my pocketgo stopped working. For anybody with the same problem, if your Pocketgo has reset button, you should use pocketgoV2 image version.

Thanks for this help! WIn32 didnt work on my Windows 10 laptop. Maybe because its a 64it OS im running? I used Balena Etcher instead and worked fine. I did this install for my PlayGo and it worked all the same. I just had to select the PlayGo file to image instead of the PocketGo of course.

Balena Etcher will let you write the image without needing to change the file type, and it is free.
august 1st 2020, and I don't see what you see on the my pocket go 2 V1 SD card. I'm hesitant to do this. Is there a newer guide?

ok so i hjave the original pocket go (without joystick)
and they realesed a rouge cfw for the og pocket go within the last 2 weeks or so

the windows 32 disk imager link doesnt show on my computer the way it does on yours. it just takes me to a blank page

Can you do me a favor and confirm that the select button on the psx emulator is working? That's currently my only issue on this thing.
Can ps1 roms be left in a zip file or do u have to extract them because I have about 13gb worth of ps1 roms but if u extract them it makes it like 20gb
Idk if anyone is having the same issue I reinstalled the firmware because it wasn’t turning on or charging now the light lit up red so I left it there and it’s still red and not booting up and when I pull the battery out and charge it it starts blinking red still nothing on the screen
is this update necessary? i mean, could i keep the stock fm, and just update the emulators?? or should i update the fm, if so, why? tyanks
Download the "Paragon - Linux file system for Windows" program, so you can see the Linux partition in your Windows file Explorer (and see all the roms).
using this program windows forget to make me format sd card?
Would be nice then to remake this video with that program to avoid confusion
@@AndreFerreira-hz9be you don't need to format anything. Just open the program and you have access to all the hidden partitions. extra bonus: IMO it's the easiest way to add roms to retropie too. No SSHing.

Hi! My New Pocketgo arrived today and I have done all the same steps as you and now it does not turn on. This is normal?
My PlayGo (PocketGo 2 black edition) will arrive soon.. maybe something went wrong with the image burning process. Re-format to FAT32 and re-burn the image file. Try roofus burner (a different app).

Can anyone help me fixing the black screen issue? My Pocket Go V2 won't turn on anymore. Support said I should try to remove the battery and put back in, while leaving the Micro SD in slot 1. If it doesn't help I should reinstall the firmware. I did all that - but it won't turn on. When I charge it there is a red LED. But no LED when I push or press the power button, like it's completely dead.

Same problem, but only with de custom firmware, with the stock sd card works fine, only problem with the custom firmware.

also, you don't need to format the sd card before flashing an image onto it.
It's always advised so you don't corrupt the sd card
Hey. Thanks for the video. I'm unlucky. I got my device today. My device doesn't work properly.
Every couple of seconds the screen bugs out and the software crashes to a reboot or black screen at random. It's happening in the OS and any games if I manage to launch one.
- I tried removing and putting the battery back many times
- I charged the device fully before
- the SD card is always inserted in the tf1 slot
I hope they can support me :/
Man that sucks. And it worries me, my device is on the way. How about you install this firmware on a new SD card and try it. Maybe you received a corrupted SD card

Have you tried a battery pull? I had this issue when flashing a new SD Card with the latest 1.04 CFW, removing the battery and replacing fixed it

I got the NEW new pocketgo V2 yesterday. It worked out the box, however when i went back to it later it wont power on.
I have fully charged it, took battery in and out etc, held power down with and without battery, took sd card it, tried a diffent sd card with new rogue firmware etc.
No joy.
Has this happened to anyone else? Cant believe that it stopped working within 30 min of owning it!
With the New Pocket Go V2 (upgraded version) , when you remove the SD card , you must unplug and replug the battery then the pocket will power on itself .
Don't forget the sd card OS must be in the left sd port(TFT1)

you can download and install "ext2fsd" to see all the partitions in windows
Or, maybe, just use Linux. You don't need to install it. You can LiveBoot it without installation.

I dont understand how this FW improves the pocketgo. The FW already installed has alot of emulators and roms preinstalled. This pretty wipes all that out with no benefit?
I'll probably flash Rogue 1.0.4 on a new SD card and leave the original as is. My device is hasn't arrived yet but I'd like to know if this firmware provides any battery life improvement or lower CPU performance..

Take out the battery, and hopefully you kept the old sd card, insert and replace battery and it'll work.

Hey I also got this problem when I first got the thing...
What you can do is try to open the case by unscrewing it open and screw it back on...
For me the problem is the battery receiver doesn't fully interact with the battery

@Eldritch Penumbra Sounds to me like the Vita would be the better option since it can run anything this thing can and more.
@Eldritch Penumbra Hacking either of these 3 consoles is easier than this thing, you don't have to mess about with linux file structures for a start, and 2nd hand u prolly find them cheaper.
