You know this handheld is well worth it when ETA keeps making all these great tutorials for it. Can't wait to get one
Agreed 🤣
yeah i value eta's opinion a lot because he has played with so many different systems and handhelds, and he seems to be really liking the go advance so im a lot more interested in it now
Can't wait to get one was well.
I got all excited about this thing too but cannot get it working at all. Screw those stupid cable ribbons that wont stay plugged in.
@@ryankinney9772 normally they should snap into place, maybe you havent put them in deep enough?
just got finished adding all of my roms to the microSD.... didnt know this tutorial existed, and clicked EJECT on windows and didnt unmount the drive.... back to Re adding all the games, 90 minuets out the window. Thanks ETA for putting this up, its still valid even for Emuelec 3.8 on OGABE.
That‘s what i love about Odroid Go Advance. The developers understood what the people out there need. A Retrogaming handheld with EmulationStation 👍🏻
Perfect Frontend for a Gaming handheld like this.
When you first revealed the news of the Odroid Go Advance, I said I'd wait for your review. I actually had just gotten around to buying the G Pi case that I always intended to buy since the spring, and I threw in an LDK Landscape for options and flexibility. But I still wanted to get the Odroid because I knew it would be the best mix of hardware and software, and Hardkernel's stuff is always great. So I realized waiting was stupid and put my order in a week into the new year when my impulse control was very low. There was no way this wasn't going to be backordered at some point, which is now. I'm glad I couldn't control myself. It's nice to be on the other side of things. The reason I only just got the G Pi case is because it was never in stock the first few months. I am hoping they get Lakka ready for it sooner rather than later. I'm not really fond of Emulation Station.
Perfect timing! My one just arrived today so looks like I have a fun weekend ahead...
Would love to see an n64 showcase since this is very capable and could be one of the best portable n64 solutions out there.
I just built my OGA! I actually found it fun to do and with a bluetooth dongle the file transfers were easy. :)
They're on Retro Arena RC 2.3 as of this comment.
I tried EmuElec and this is 1000 times better than Retro-Arena (and probably Batocera). I HIGHLY recommend you to install EmuElec. Very promising distribution.
You know UA-cam loves ETA Prime when its a survey and two sets of adds in this seven minute video .thanks prime have a good day .
I always watch your videos. Even when I don't have the device 😁 Great content! Very informative
I bought two, one for me and one for my son, I'm waiting for for my RIT dyes so I can dye them in our favorite colors!
Just got the notification today mine has shipped. Can’t wait. Going to dye it first then assemble! Thanks for the videos!
Make sure you unmount AND THEN verify the SD card both. Then you can eject it with the icon. Take it out of your PC, and roms will then show up. If you dont verify the roms may not show up.
Hi, the verifying process seems to take for ever. Is this normal?
I was having the same problem and came here to comment about it. I did what you suggested and it worked great! Any idea why you need to verify it?
You're the best ETA! Can't wait to get my hands on this thing...waiting very impatiently for mine to ship.
So much for buying one of these. I was planning to today, but the new shipment won't arrive until May. By then there just may be something even better.
Great video as always, Prime! Ordering my Go today.😊
Thanks for the tutorial, I was having so many issues getting it up and running.
As soon as we get a portable Ps2 am a be throwing my money everywhere
My wife said "Can't your fancy laptop already play those games??".....she doesn't understand.
well... that will be when nvidia finally decide to shrink GTX1050 into a phone.
I mean there is that like $850 chinese thing. So I mean you can throw your money now.
Thanks for your videos they are very easy to follow, I can't wait for my odroid to arrive 🤓
after I wasted a few hours I found this video.
thank you.
the file system was different...
This is helpful but it could use a lot more information.
How do you handle bios for things like CPS3 and other difficult systems?
What version of mame roms do we use? Does it matter?
What about cores, anything we need to do there?
Great tutorial and great console! Keep on rockin´ ETA!!!
Perfect timing mine shipped tonight
just in time :)i just built mine with your video bro
there should be a second like button, something for emphasis of just how much i like this... so much like! :D thanks my dude
It's worth curating your rom sets, clear out the stuff you'll never want to play
Works like a dream! Thanks eta prime!
Hi, awesome tutorials. They’ve helped me a ton getting my Odroid go set up! I was wondering if you had any plans on making a tutorial for the base image from hardkernel as it’s been updated recently. It involves making additional partitions and I can’t find a solid tutorial or any kind of resource anywhere. Either way, awesome job on the videos and thanks for the help so far! 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Love the content man, keep up the good work. I really appreciate it, mostly cuz I was too lazy to set up the software side for a good 2 weeks now, this reminded me to get off my butt and work on it LOL
Still gonna wait for ODROID Go Go Advance Ultra it might have that mythical R2 L2 buttons.
What games will you play that need l2 and r2?
@@cradledani mostly PS1 games, i've been looking for a unit to dedicate only PS1 games and this ODROID is a powerful one, wish the said buttons is included.
I'm sure you know by now, but just in case, the odroid go advance BLACK EDITION has launched, with the magical bonus shoulder buttons
Excellent - thanx!
Mine just got delivered yesterday. I'm still considering grabbing the polyc paint n customising it
Do it, they look so good! What color are you thinking about?
@@ETAPRIME was thinking a blue camo like neo geo pocket but might be tricky buying 3 different colours - so tamiya metallic blue is my second choice.
When did you order yours? I'm still waiting on my two. I ordered mine on the 31st. I guess another question would be where do you live...that might effect the shipping time.
@@rustyshackleford836 on the 29th and I'm in Australia.
@@rayt1348 That's encouraging. Hopefully mine show up in before the weekend. Thanks.
I want to double check this...around 9:50 you said it will only show emulators that have roms for them. So considering I pretty much just stick to a few emulators that means I won't need to scroll through 30 emulators I won't use to get to the ones I want? That's a menu function I absolutely love but rarely come across and I want to make sure I'm hearing you correctly.
Rusty Shackleford it means that if u only have gba Roma for example, the only system that will show on your main menu is gba and that settings one, kinda like retro pie if u ever used that before.
@@sahilsingh373 Awesome, that's what I assumed but I wanted to be sure. Thanks!
Can't wait to get mine on Monday 😁
Who uploads videos at 3 AM?
ETA PRIME: oh boy 3 AM!
I'm pretty sure you can upload in advance and set a specific time for automatic release.
Yep, also that
I love the video, but this is way over my head. Thanks for all the hard work.
Nice vid
You are a national treasure.
I follow your channel, you make this look so easy, I am wondering what I am missing.
Bacotera: I can't figure out how to adjust the volume, or quit a game ad go back to the game list.
Retroroller: I can't adjust the volume with a soft key, only the middle two function keys do anything.
Unbutu 2.5 builds: Same as above.
Basic Image from Odroid direct: Can't get any ROMs to show up after adding them to folders.
ALL OF THEM: The soft keys don't go anything. There isn't a good way to quit a game and go to the list. The Wheel and box art don't show up. Nearly every time I add ROMs to folders, the whole thing needs to be erased and rebuilt, because it just stops working.
This thing is a big expensive paperweight at this point. Can you offer any advice?
I use a raspberry pi and a powered usb hub to transfer all my games and works great without any 3rd party software
The file browser in Chrome OS will also allow you to transfer ROMs to the SD card.
hey, im having a problem with paragon. I have a 128 gb micro sd card for my oga be but it only allows access to 14 gb out of the 128 i would love to know how to fix this if fixable.
I hope to get one. Thank you ETA PRIME
Nice i am def buying thank for the vid
Yeah at that price point it must be hard to beat but would like to get a comparison to the moqi I7s
I had used Paragon before and I tried uninstalling Paragon Linux File Systems for Windows and reinstalling it, but it says that my product key has expired and will not let me re-install.
same here, would love to have a work around as I can't afford a license
Another great video :)
The Retro Arena for the OA doesn’t seem to be available anymore. I’m trying the stock image, and bactocera... all buggy AF. This definitely isn’t ready for prime time. 😭
Do you not need to transfer any bios? Thanks great video very helpful
Wait, so the RK2020 drawback if no firmware isn't a drawback at all because who they stole it from a company that makes you even have to physically build it and the RK2020 comes built AND has 4 shoulder buttons? Well that helped me make up my mind.
Mr ETA, will this eventually be able to support full images like attract mode for retro pi? My odroid just shipped so this video is very timely. Thanks!
Thank you!
I miss the first shipment ..they all sold out ..there is a wait now until may ..hopefully it will reach amazon ..I may have to pay a little more ..but it will be well worth it..
you are a saviour
i currently have my case dying and i was searching on how to flash the drive and your video saved me so much. love your channel
Which image is better for the Black Edition? It seems that Retro Arena can't recognize the R2/L2 buttons on the Black Edition. Also, how do you reset the system back to default? For the life of me I can't figure out the button combos for volume, brightness, or disc change for PS1 games and I've already set my Start/Pause buttons to 5 and 6 buttons.
My sd card has about 200 GB of capacity. I have to flash it first in order to get the linux OS working on the device, but when I do it automatically creates partitions, one for boot, one for roms (as the root drive), and one that has 168 gbs of unallocated space. For the life of my I cannot extend the root drive to the unallocated space, even using mini wizard partition. Literally spent all day on it and made no progress.
Can you make a video of adding PSX games and the bios files on Emuelec 4.0? Please!!
Thanks !
Hi! Thank you for your video! My ODROID Go advance will arrive next week. Is it also possible to add games via USB stick (Retropie-like)?
Hi ETAPRIME thank you for your video it has been very helpful but !!! I’m having a lot of trouble getting games on it iv bone every thing you’ve said iv got the image on it and at one point I had a lot of gameboy games and master system games on it but when I went to put some mega drive games on it it wouldn’t load any of the games up iv formatted the sd card to start from fresh again but still not having any luck to get any of the game on it again if you or any can help I’ll be very grateful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
ETA prime I love your videos! Got a Odroid go advance super handheld with a 512 fully loaded SD card- I made a mistake I think and deleted the PlayStation emulator because I can't load any of the games I can see video and artwork but I can't play the games it takes me to this screen, how do I go about fixing that what I need to just download another emulator and how would I do that?? Hopefully you can help me out! I thought I was freeing up space!!
You mention wifi dongle. Would a Bluetooth/wifi combo dongle work as well? I’d like to add Bluetooth and use wireless headphones :).
Noob question. I don't know which folder is the dreamcast roms folder? I followed this exact video to install everything. Thanks.
Hopefully some killer images are released for this.
Please show that how to scrape the games through windows pc....
I have tried multiple images... multiple SD cards... several times. After hard kernel screen I just get blank screen :(
What should I do if that Linux program won't even detect my sd card reader? I tried every single usb slot on my laptop and it won't mount it :(
everytime I go into the game it brings me back to the previous game, how do I get out of the game im in?
ETA, can you tell me why some arcade games don't play in the right orientation? Should be vertical but is horizontal? Is there a fix?
Thank you!!!this very cool! I got mine yesterday, can t wait to build it😊
I am buying one of these
If you haven't bought one already, you may have a hard time doing so now, unfortunately.
Could you please do a video on how to set up a wifi dongle? You have to edit a text file right?
I tried all of your tutorial. However my games do not start, they get stuck on a black screen. Any ideas?
Games have to be unzipped.
I can't seem to find any tutorial on installing ROMs on any handheld using a Mac computer it's all Windows 10!? I have a ton of ROMs on my mac, is it as easy to just insert the micro SD into my MacBook and drag and drop, or do I need windows software?
Some old games have not save system .... this machine have not quick load quick save button... İ prefer android emulator android and gamepad
Having issues getting AMIGA emulation to work. If I try to start a game it tells me a dozen of BIOS files are missing. Any idea which bios files i need and how to select the right Kickstarter version for my games ?
Great tutorial, although how do you reset a games save state?
Shame that the retro arena image can’t actually be downloaded from the forum right now 😿
Same here cant seem to download too
Hey! I installed the Retro Arena successfully, but I can not reconfigure the buttons below the LCD. I've tried to do so many times now, but the configuring doesn't actually reconfigure them. This is annoying, since, I can't get 2 of the buttons to work as L2 and R2 for psx.
Secondly, as I've tested some of the psx games, I noticed the emulator doesn't have a memory card configured. How do I configure a memory card to be used for the psx saves, I can't find such an option.
I wish someone answers, if ETA doesn't. Cheers.
Perfect
Thanks for your video! Im adding roms now to my Rk2020. Do you know if this will work for the RG350 too?
Linux File systems is not letting me use it after the trial, is there an alternative? ETA PRIME said that uninstalling the app and installing it back up will extend the trial.
Just got an email from ameridroid saying that my jan 24th order wont ship till may
"I am sorry. We have just learned that HardKernel is not going to be able to fulfill all of our pre-orders on their first production run, and we will not be able to ship your order until we receive our first shipment after they resume shipping in May. "
UPDATE got mine in
Want mine? I cant get it to work lol
@@ryankinney9772 what do you mean not work
My ribbon cable get falling out when I'd put it together, fixed it with a little piece of skotch tape but my analog stick won't plug in
@@ryankinney9772 tempting but before anything you can probably order replacement parts from various places so try that before you think about selling
How do you make psp save states, it doesn’t automatically make them like with the other systems?
Figured it out if your trying to, go to the menu using far left menu button, scroll all the way down till you can press left on the dpad, those five slots are the save states, to save find the slot you want and press right on the dpad and press b, to load find slot you want press b then press right on dpad and press b, hope this helps someone
im here to do the same but in my RK2020. clones ftw
Nice handheld can play smoothly but very long process on the softwares and file tranfers.
Too many apps to install. Haist😑😞
I wish theres app and games installed already on the sd card :( i can assembling it but to tired on the softwares and games. ;(
Having an issue with mine. Games that save to a memory card like RPGs, won't actually save to the fake memory card. It will pick back up via save state, but can't actually save to the "memory card". Run into that issue yourself?
Hello Eta, which image i should install ? Batocera, Retro Arena, Emuelec, or the stock one ? So many systems and not a real idea of what i should take. Please, could you give me advices ?
This is a very specific use case in my scenario but is it possible to get windows 10 running on any of the odroid portable devices? Thanks in advance!
I'd like to know if it's possible to remap controls for the 6 function buttons? If so, how to go about doing that.
on retroarena, how can I reset games or manage save states?
tracked 9 this is what I’m trying to figure out too
@@grandmasterchooda9385 that functionality doesn't seem to be there (yet?) but I think you can at least reset games by just powering the odroid off while ingame. batocera on the other hand has hotkeys for save states
Why are none of my arcade games running on retro arena, it shows up in the emulator but when I choose it it doesn’t boot and crashes back to the select screen?
As a closet nerd who has little ability like you have, i wish that U could make one and send it complete! I so want that, but how am 'I' going to do that?
the odroid website does have an option to pay a little extra to have it delivered prebuilt, you'll need to install the OS and add the roms, but this vid has that covered ^_^
Dear ETA
Can you make guide for final burn alpha. Romset version downgrade or upgrade and which version to use.
Thx
Do all those emulators support save states? Also, 350H vs OGA showdown vid please. :)
How do I add Mame games like Metal Slug, cant get it working. Game is added but it wont boot on the device? Do i need something else?
So i got mine and I've flashed both the stock image and the Retroarena image and when i add games via windows explorer via Paragon the systems will only show 1 or 2 games and they wont load. Im at a loss here
Is it possible to use an USB Lan adapter to connect the ODROID? That would be my choice for file transfer then.
Will this also work with a Mac?
hey eta prime, next tuto video: how to set video previews each game, please, so good day
