Ana Lucia deserved it. She put the gun in Michael’s hand for him to do dirty work for her but it backfired. She would get revenge without the blame. Jack is smart because he always refused to give someone a gun who would think irrationally.
im currently still watching lost, nearing the end, and i just wanna say the way this scene is done is so much better than a lot of the impactful scenes in the later seasons. mostly by the lack of score throughout, it allows the scene to speak for itself, rather than the music telling you what to feel. i think people miss a lot of the nuances about this show
Michael is a father. Imagine being on an island with the son who was taken away from you from his mother and these savages. Michael was given a list of people- by Ms. Clue of the others to bring to the her to get Walt back. Michael did not know these were what the others perceived as the top candidates for Jacob’s replacement - to be killed by them. I am not stating what Michael did was moral - but he’s in a mental state being on the island and finally bonding with his child after his ex gf took Walt away most of his life until she died. The step Dad didn’t want Walt. Keeping this in mind on his way on flight ✈️ 815 to raise Walt the plane crashes. Again Michael is messed up having seeing his son kidnapped from him. In this desperate mental state on a deserted island, Michael follows the list given to him by Ms. Clue- upon being captured because they teased him by letting him see and talk to Walt for 3 minutes 😢...Libby being killed was an accident by Michael- a false reflex of terror and surprise, after his guilt of killing Anna and his messed up mental state. He knew he needed to kill Anna to get to free Ben. As per the others told him to give Ben back. Notice how he doesn’t just shoot himself alone. He goes into the locked room and does it in front of Ben. Not only to blame him but to show he did it. Michael doing these things (poor choice but very paternal) ,prevents him from moving on with the cast to the afterlife. Also, it traps him on the island as a whisper as Hurley discovers by talking to Michael. In the Lost epilogue - Ben gets Walt from the mental institution ( he got off the island and was considered crazy telling the truth and locked up). Ben takes Walt away to the island with Hurley - Hurley had died and is moving on with the cast to the afterlife and Walt will be #1 (as per Jacob was, then Jack, then Hurley upon Jack’s death) Ben was Hurley’s #2 like RICHARD was Jacob’s #2. ( not poop ) lmao. Okay stay with this..... Ben said to Walt you can help your father even though he’s dead. Hence help redeem Michael. Walt run the island, Hurley move on with the cast in the church, Ben still needed to be a #2 couldn’t be #1 to replace Hurley bc he wasn’t a chosen candidate on 815 by Jacob, he did evil, and still needed to redeem “had work left to do” on himself. As he told Locke outside the church. Michael was desperate see Season 2 eps. 22- but wrong his consequences kept his soul in limbo- Walt is not running the island with Ben - helping redeem Ban and his dad. Hurley moves on with the original cast to the afterlife. Btw- this is not to say that after the cast as a whole enters the afterlife together that they are not reunited with other loved ones other family. This about the show characters not their before or after lives off the island. (Leave your imaginations open ) the writes don’t want to think for you after this series- a work of fiction- is done. If no one gets this - that the answers are in the episodes and the is and is a sci fi -fantasy with many facets occurring at one time ..., someone who does please help further explain. ❤️❤️ P.s. Mr. Eko should have been in the church but bc of him demanding a pay raise - they couldn’t work it out with him and ABC. P.s.s. Aaron was in the church bc he was part of Claire- Charlie- Kate island experience. He was an infant bc everyone was brought together in the church to move on to the afterlife at the age they all were when 815 crashed. The age most important in their lives with each other. Claire wasn’t pregnant in the church vs the reality of her holding an infant Aaron bc his birthday was significant to the development of the souls of the characters -Charlie, Kate, and herself. I hope I’ve helped one person understand the scope of this show. I’m 10 years older since first run and this is a show where each time you view it it will hit you a different way. The most important questions were indeed answered see above ^ the rest is ambiguous to spirituality and imagination to the individual watching it. Season 2. Episode 22. Michael was always very back and forth for me. Sometimes he would do things that make me not like him, sometimes I would think, "Meh, he's okay," but then he would do something to make me hate him, etc.
Ana Lucía no me importó, pero verla a libby asi, por dios... Me mato.
This scene angered me SO MUCH!! Ana Lucia and Libby were quickly becoming some of my favorite characters, Ana's status and backstory were great, and how it felt like Libby knew where she knew Hugo from, but didn't want him to remember it. Those were my favorite traits of these characters. Michael was already my least favorite character, but after this.... //punches Michael
Their DUI’s had nothing to do with their deaths. As soon as Ana’s character was shown, her death was already planned for the end of season 2. As for Libby, the writers initially did not plan on killing her at all but they ran out of ideas for her character that would take away more of the focus for the characters in season 3 when they are at the Others’ camp
There was NO REASON for killing either for them. He could have simply tell them the truth, tell them to run, and take Ben to The Others himself. Nobody even ASKED HIM to kill anybody. It was totally pointless. And Ana Lucia was one of the best characters that was ever in the show, it was shocking that they'd actually let her die so soon
Michael was one of my favorite characters in Season 1, and with this scene on, it went further and further downhill. Of course I can understand why he'd do all for his son, but even so- he didn't have to kill neither of those two. The Others never even requested that- it was an unexplained, pointless act out of the blue. He could've simply tell Ana Lucia to go away and bring Ben back to the others- then, maybe he would prevent Kate, Jack and Sawyer from being held prisoners. Fine scene though...
So many bloopers this episode. When Libby leaves Hurley to get blankets it is DAYLIGHT, suddenly when she gets shot it is NIGHT, then Sawyer and Kate leave to get meds for Libby and walla it is DAYLIGHT again and Hurley is asking if they saw Libby because he was waiting for the blankets? So either Hurley waited a full day for the blankets or time traveling was already happening b4 season 5 Lol, still love this show but such bad planning on the times of day, how does it go from day to night to day again?
So many years later this one still remains the most shocking scene ever.

Michael and Walt were the original Rick and Carrrrrrrl
No way, Ricks not a little bitch.
Connorrow and ricks a likeable badass. Michael was just annoying.
Ben Dover rick was pretty annoying, but is still kinda liked him
You mean coorraaalll? 😂
omg.
I liked ana lucia's character I never expected Michael ti kill her
Ana Lucia deserved it. She put the gun in Michael’s hand for him to do dirty work for her but it backfired. She would get revenge without the blame.
Jack is smart because he always refused to give someone a gun who would think irrationally.
I am still so pissed he killed my fav actress
lacheyrulez he didn't kill Michelle. He killed the character.
lacheyrulez She's still alive
stanfemales only Plot Twist: He was talking about Libby (Cynthia Watros) 😉
SAMEEEE
stanfemales only lmaooo idk why I find this so funny 😂😂
im currently still watching lost, nearing the end, and i just wanna say the way this scene is done is so much better than a lot of the impactful scenes in the later seasons. mostly by the lack of score throughout, it allows the scene to speak for itself, rather than the music telling you what to feel.
i think people miss a lot of the nuances about this show
Every time I watch this scene now I think about the Lost musical parody’s take on it…
unpopular opinion:Michael is one of my fav characters come at me :)
Same here
You’re lying.
The MOST hated character on lost even more than the villains is the dumb michael
Ana lucia was only in season 2, which was the best season of lost
Season 2. Episode 22. Sayid to Jack, “ I believe Michael has been compromised.”

Wow I love this way of looking at it
I loved Ana Lucia so much she didn’t have to go out like that
Michael was always very back and forth for me. Sometimes he would do things that make me not like him, sometimes I would think, "Meh, he's okay," but then he would do something to make me hate him, etc.
This was insane when I saw it for the first time on live tv.
Ana Lucía no me importó, pero verla a libby asi, por dios... Me mato.
Can someone Lost and tell me how many times Michael says, "They took my son!". Jesus God, it must've been around 200 times.
Henry Gale (Ben) : " So, this is it?
Ana Lucia : " Yes Henry, this is it.
Miss you Ana
just watched this episode, i’m trying so hard not to watch another til tomorrow. i ain’t gonna make it😭
I remember watching it the first time, I stayed in shock for days
when libby was shot i thought of poor Hugo
Every time I hear Michael say Walt I always think about the walking dead and rick screaming Carl
You have to keep on watching lost, IT GETS SO MUCH BETTER!
Shocking moment of Lost.
Ana Lucia was one of my favorite characters, I did not expect such an early death
Peak of the show, ana Lucia is one of the best characters
I swear Lost had more main character deaths than Game of Thrones has had
I wonder what the original story was, ya know, before Ana and Libby got DWI's and had to be removed from the show...
I hate Michael.! He killed Libby :(
Libby was an accident.
And Anna :*(
@@shanereid5292 nope. She wasn't he had already made up his mind about killing anyone that stood in the way of him getting WAAAAALLLLLTTTT back.
one of the best scenes ever...
Imagine if Anna gave him the wrong combination and after killing them he couldn't even unlock the door.
One of the best twists in television history
I'm still crying Anna was my fav character it's been days and in still. crying
He was supposed to bring Sayer, Hugo, Kate andJack to the Others. It wouldn't work letting Anna Lucia and Libby go away.
LOVE THIS PART!!! WELL DONE MICHAEL
lol you're sick
@@CopR8r nah Ana Lucia sucked
Best show ever
Man this show and Prison Break was my childhood
Holy shit dude!! that was uncalled for!
Fine scene though...
wow 12 years later it is in my recommendation
Just as I began to like ana Lucia
When I watched this I was just like wtf...... And just sat there in shock
2019? yes?
Thank you for your service Michael
By far the biggest shocker in the series. Never saw it coming.
This is the best scene in Lost. The worst character (Ana Lucia, and not counting Nikki and Paulo) dies, and Libby too.
Michaels my favourite caracter
