£1300/1400 EUR = $950 (no tax, but US tax is tiny). MSI has fked the pricing in Europe. Alienware is >£300 cheaper, lol.
Yeah this signalled to me that they do not want my business.
alienware is also curved :(
I think it's getting worse every year with the Euro price tags. Tech stuff costs so much more in Europe/Germany.
Yeah $950 is equivalent to 875€. With 19% tax (in Germany's case), you'd get 1041€. A 300€ price difference is ridiculous.
Just dont buy!
The first response time graph and it's a complete wall of green is really satisfying to see
Yes,that is all that matters!:D
welcome to the world of OLED
first time seeing oled review?
"all that matters" no way, perfect response times mean almost nothing if the monitor cant get bright, has terrible colors and contrast, awful ergonomics and design, etc etc.. @@Djare915
@@ashkanglm750 Not my first watch - but my first time commenting about it 😂
Thank you so much for covering text clarity in such detail! You're the first person I've found that's given it the coverage it deserves.
Would love to see a roundup video of all the brands/models using this panel once they're released
Your reviews covers so much more than only measured datas (front light, reflections etc.). Great work!
1500€ in Germany, and 1099€ for the 27" 1440p 360Hz model
~30% more than what Dell/Alienware is charging over here
Makes sense. 20% consumer tax plus some import tax.
This is just outrageous now, a hundred or so difference was acceptable, but this is another level
@@gavinderulo12 That's compared to Dell which is also after applying VAT/tax. It does NOT make sense. It's just robbing Europeans as usual.
They will be forced to lower the prices in Europe to keep up with Dell.
Same thing that happened with the burn-in warranty.
Thankfully there is competition.
@@gavinderulo12 US people keep saying that despite that being so stupid. AW3225QF is more expensive than the 321URX in the US, but in the EU not only it's the other way around, but it's 30% more expensive than the Alienware. How does that make any sense?!
In the HUB Essentials Checklist you listed it did not support "Deep Sleep can be Disable" I am currently using a MSI 321URX monitor and in settings you can change the power button to "Standby" which makes the power button only turn off the panel and backlight instead of the default setting OFF which turn off the whole monitor including the KVM switch.
When using this setting I believe it provides a option to disable deep sleep or a similar behaviour to having deep sleep disabled where it prevents issues I have when the monitor is turned off such as HDMI hot-plug detection issues when using dual monitors (Windows 10 disconnecting the monitor ) and my USB devices on the KVM switch turning off.
I consider this a useful feature on this monitor especially for OLED monitor to be able to turn of the screen without having to reposition things on Windows and also not having my keyboard and mouse on the KVM switch turn off when the monitor is off.
Absolutely. I hate how monitors started to do that "I'll disconnect the whole thing when you switch me off" -thing...
where did you get yours?
I purchased mine from PC Case Gear for 2,199 AUD, and as mentioned in the video Australians are paying a price premium though it is still cheaper than the ASUS model.
@@jordanandrewartha525 How bad is DSC? I've heard that there are quite a few problems. It's absolutely insane that these super expensive monitors don't have DP 2.1.
I love that hardware unboxed split off and made this channel. Super helpful and awesome reviews.
Your review format is perfect. Great work.
Nice checklist. Very helpful.
Also, man, what a dragon 6:52
Thanks lads - watched all the QD OLED monitor reviews and they have been invaluable. Will buy some merch for guiding my decision in this space.
Been highly anticipating these videos! Thank you guys for all your efforts to help us make informed choices!
Mine is arriving tomorrow, very excited!!
You deserve it ❤
where did you order it?
Mine arriving tomorrow, got it tracked with In Stock Alert app.
Please consider measuring and comparing the aggressiveness of ABL with OLED panels. One of the most distracting issues with HDR gaming. Would really love to see the difference in ABL with these panels vs the WOLED's later this year as well.
Thanks for finally reviewing this monitor getting mine today. Glad to see its as good as I hoped.
Is the monitor any good?
Love the extremely in depth review. It really helps to keep that buyers remorse away, and makes me confident that i’ll be getting a solid product for the money.
Happy to see it selling at msrp here in Canada. although the one problem is that it has been sold out on the few vendors offering it since release.
I have just seen it added on amazon canada, and have my order locked in for when it restocks.
I’m looking forward to unboxing this bad boy!! ❤️
Looks like the Alienware will be the only reasonably priced monitor in Europe.
Yeah, and some Eu countries don't have a Dell webstore and they don't ship abroad from the ones that do, even to resellers. For example, Sweden has it but Finland doesn't.
In Brazil it is also the only one with a reasonable price. I don't know how Dell got such a competitive price, but that's great!
@@S3lvah you can take a plane or ferryboat from Finland to Sweden for about 50-100 €.
No alienware review ??????
@@S3lvah need me to order one for you?
Great video as usual. It will be great if you can check the KTC G27P6 is the one cheaper on Some parts of EU and the one cheaper on US at 650 usd, in theory use the same LG 240HZ panel. Also the AOC Agon PRO AG276QZD it's at 699 USD. (I know that models are QHD btw)
Looking forward to your review of the Dell Alienware AW2725DF.
Just got one myself a few days ago and I’m in love with it so far. 😍
Any issues or need for firmware updates
They might be waiting for the upcoming firmware update to review it.
@@russc5269 The only issue I’ve noticed so far is a tiny bit of VRR flicker in game loading screens that are mostly black but during actual gameplay I can’t notice it at all. Text fringing is pretty unnoticeable as well. Overall it’s been fantastic so far.
Agreed!
Really appreciate the in depth analysis!
Would love a review of the Dell AW3225QF.
Yeah i'm really surprised there hasn't been one yet given the AW released weil over a month before the ASUS/MSI.
@@jlb4685I wonder if he's waiting until he can do a comparison video. Still, I would have expected a review by now too.
A review of the scratches would be nice.
He sucks
@@bboysvladnot all have them!
The MSI and the ASUS 4k monitors is 1499 euro in Norway which is insane. The 4k Dell monitor is 1206 euro, QD-Oled is just way out of reach for most of the consumers guess i will wait for black friday or 2nd hand market...
ngl i was expecting it from asus cause you know the rog tax... but msi really fucked up the price in europe how is that possible to make the price go up by 70%
@@Gekihen_ Yeah, especially when everything up to the release point in europe pointed towards the MSI being the cheapest of them all. Big bummer 🙃
I'd think about it, but I'm afraid of burn in.
1600€ in Sweden
they know you got shitloads of NOK to spend :D
You've made the best monitor reviews for years, even improving quality
Thanks
this monitor looks soooo nice. i’m loving the price cut as well!! might need to pick this up soon
glossy coatings effected by lighting is an overblown issue. I have a glossy panel and the blacks aren't effected by any lighting. Just dont place your monitor near any strong sources of light and youll be fine.
It's not the coating.. it's the QD-OLED panel which has the same issue on TVs.
Hi, no mention of flickering during VRR during lower PFS performance? How good is that??
Thank you for the review MUB!
Great video as usual and thanks for all the information on these new Oled monitors, you guys are the best. Oh are you guys going to review the fo32u2p with dp2.1 soon? since I heard it’s to release in March. Thank you again.
Thanks Tim.
I would buy this over the ASUS due to the flat base. The Asus monitor legs block my keyboard. The superior burn-in mitigation is also very important. My Samsung S95B had a line running from top to bottom within 1 week of purchase but Samsung replaced the panel for me within a week so I would spend the extra and buy from authorised dealers rather than ship the unit from US to Singapore.
I'd be switching screen off within 3 minutes so using this in office app should be fine and I don't need Dolby Vision since I only use AMD GPU. Let's see what other brands offer. The UI for all my devices are dark mode anyway so power usage for OLED should be fine.
Once the screen lit up, the purple tint is not noticeable for the Samsung S95B so I'm hoping this gen of QD-OLED monitor will be fine in bright daylight. I sit beside the windows but I think 400 nits should be fine.
"I would buy this over the ASUS due to the flat base."
choosing a 1k monitor over another based on its stand is wild to me.
@@0hMyGandhi why? I have a genuine ergonomical requirement given my limited desk space. There are pple out there who wouldn't buy a monitor if the bezel is too thick. 😂
@@erictayet I bought a 60$ vesa arm, problem solved.
@@Math1eu- I know but I don't want to drill holes in the wall.
@@erictayetYou could get an arm that clamps onto desk
How adaptive sync working? no TEARING in single player games?
One feature I hope you'll cover in the future would be the implementation of PiP/PbP (if supported by the monitor) and whether it's easy or finicky to use. This feature is exceptionally useful for productivity work if properly supported by the monitor, especially if it also has a built in KVM switch (like the Asus PG32UCDM). Otherwise, great review as always!
CANNOT WAIT FOR YOUR MSI 271QPX and 271QRX REVIEWS THANK YOU SIR. Whoops caps lock : ) Although in the UK the release has gone from 18th Feb to 28th April ffs.
MSI have confirmed that a DSC toggle is coming via a firmware update. I asked about it on their twitch, and they acted on it. You can find confirmation on their UA-cam stream show casing the monitor(s) in the comments :)
What is that supposed to do?
I am honestly aiming for the ASUS monitor due to their promise of adding Dolby Vision support in the second half of this year, since I am using my monitor currently with a Fire TV stick too. If MSI aims for that option as well, then that would be great.
Top-class reviews as always!
Great review. Hoping you'll get a chance to review PG38UQ.
In Poland we have to pay 1500$ for this model it's a joke...
Another great review. I already bought the AW3225QF, but it's always nice seeing these reviews. I know Reddit has a hard on for the ASUS monitor, but a lot of the added features it has over other monitors are pretty niche for most users. The price premium for the ASUS monitor just doesn't make sense for most countries it seems. In Canada it's a 400 dollar price premium for the ASUS over the Alienware. I just can't justify that much more money for a few features I genuinely don't care about. And with MSI only being 50 dollars cheaper and longer wait time, Alienware was right up my alley.
Oh no. Should have purchased a flat QD OLED and not curved. You will regret it.
@@8020Alive nah, I dig it
8:11 Really impressed with those "OLED Care" features. Far more extensive than my Alienware AW3423DWF.
Agreed. Dell has made great VA and IPS monitors in the past (probably the only thing they make with quality in the last 10 years), but their QD Oled rollout has been extremely finnicky ways brands like Asus, MSI, and even LG arent.
Thank you so much for this indepth review. 5/5. When and where will this be available to order?
STOP PUTTING SILVER BEZELS ON MONITORS
Looks fine
I'm looking forward to the roundup once all the monitors with this panel have been reviewed. Might finally update my 2008 Samsung Syncmaster T240s
Great revirw guys!
I need this monitor to be available to buy in the U.S. like... right now.
I want this one because it's the only one with a peel to protect it from scratching in shipping but they're only in stock for 2 minutes.
Currently listed at $1349 Canadian (about $995 USD) at Canada Computers. Sold out. Same price and stock status at Memory Express. Not listed at NewEgg Canada yet.
Great review as always. As i'm in Europe then its a real shame MSI are not are implementing the same pricing strategy, which means I'd be more tempted to go for the Asus model at a slight premium. To buy the MSI at the same cost considering the US/Europe disparity feels like a bit of a raw deal otherwise. However, I'm keen to see upcming reviews of the 27" 360Hz variants before I finally make up my mind on which size OD-OLED to buy.
I've been waiting and waitingggg
Great review
That was fast! Looking forward to a 360 Hz review.
I love mine! Definitely worth the money lads.
Hopefully an Alienware AW3225QF review is in the works
16:10 Thanks for that info. This is a make or break between MSI vs ROG.
I like how the Asus has DV Toggle and allows you to make the display 27inch or 24 inch for competitive use. No other QD OLED monitor has this feature
@@Kapono5150now that you mentioned a 27", I would prefer this 32" come in a 27".
@@0x8badbeef Awe man that would look crispy as hell. I’m currently using 27 inch so I’m actually wanting a 32 inch. I’m just gonna continue to wait for the Asus as the AW has a fan.
Thanks for the review. I was so hyped while waiting for OLED, but the risk of burn-in is a no-go for me. What 32" monitor would you recommend for multipurpose use? I'll be using it for 7 hours of work and 6 hours of gaming.
the amount of technical stuff tim talks about that i dont understand is amazing xd what is more amazing is that i keep watching anyways 😂
Just got my 27 360hz 1440p, can't wait for you to review it and maybe help me tweak it a tiny bit. I'm very satisfied with it and really can't complain about anything. If someone wants to know something about it I'm all ears.
i have it too! i really dont like how green it looks like on DCI-P3 tho
@@davidcali1521 yeah the color profiles are not the greatest, especially the white for me, but I tweaked it in nvidia control panel to my liking, and it's good at least for content consumption with colors that pop that I expected from it. Maybe something that can be fixed in future firmware updates. And that’s why I'm looking forward to the reviews of it that could help me tweak it even more.
That price cut suggests that there may be something to the expectation that quantum dot technology would start with heavy competition from the get-go. Good! Now if only the rest of the world would get to enjoy such cuts.
hi, thank you so much for the review
This will be my 1st OLEd and 1st HDR monitor and i am a bit lost with what i have to do.
For what i understand :
-Turn on all brun-in protections
-Activate sRGB profile
-THEN turn on HDR
-Chose the 1000nit peak brighteness setting
And then i'm good to go ? And whrn i disable HDR in windows it will go in sRGB mode, and when i turn on HDR in Windows it will switch to the HDR mode ?
Am i missing something ?
Also, is there any good reason to use the Gaming Intelligence software besides just having easier control of the options ?
Thanks
Excellent, like usual... Price of MSI is 1429€ in my country and ASUS is announced to be 1499/1529€, but only in march... I going to wait :( One thing you not talked is power cord, Asus have a special big power adaptator, i'm not fan of this but maybe it's good to maintain monitor temperature ?
yeah it'll probably be cooler due to the separate power block
I'm sure ASUS made that for some a good reason and cooling is a good reason with OLED @rojjter9721
A separate power brick is always good in case it fails (hardware defect, lightning strike etc.), makes it easier and faster to replace it.
With MSI dopping the price by about 250USD, just immagine how much profit they usually make and how much they still make.
30% margin is pretty typical and it's usually higher for halo products
It's clear from your comment that you don't understand basic corporate finance.
It costs Apple $500 to make an iPhone and they sell them for $1,000+.
@@shortyorc121You must've not watch the video, that gets adressed.
@@shortyorc121 MSi released a statement saying the promotional price will be the regular price.
the content on this oled look so good on my cheap ips monitor
Hi, would you review some KTC monitors as well in the futures? They look promising
Prices in Europe for those monitors are really weird right now.
For example, the Alienware AW2725DF costs 889€ on Dell's website but the lowest price I could find for the MSI MPG 271QRX was 999€ which doesn't make any sense.
And it's the same thing for the AW3225QF which costs 1120€ vs 1350€ for the MSI MPG 321URX.
Will you be reviewing the Alienware qd-oleds?
In Canada it seems to be around 1280 to 1350 CAD.
Which is the equivalent of 950 USD.
It's also out of stock everywhere 😅
And dell Canada is doing a sales of the alienware at 1399 right now.
For an extra 50 dollars, I went with the AW version. MSI has a history of being weird in terms of customer service and I've had zero issue with Dell's customer service. And Dolby Vision while hit and miss right now, is at least an added benefit and a firmware update is coming in March anyway. The only thing Dell sucks at is packaging. It's embarrassing that they don't ship these monitors with a screen protector. MSI does.
Yeah and compared to the Asus at $1799… for the same exact specs is insane
I'm pretty sure it's not actually released here yet and where it says out of stock just means it's not yet for sale...
How come the msi logo is shown on the front at around 3:50 but not anywhere else? Is it lit somehow or how is it not visible elsewhere so far in the video?
Prices in general are a shithouse in Europe. The only realistic option that isn’t through the roof is the Alienware which comes to £950 in the UK. MSI is £1299 while the ASUS is an eye watering £1360. (That’s $1700)
@Monitors Unboxed, would you please add some test on how it performs with a Mac especially on the text quality side, thanks
Are you planing to review LG 27gs95qe? I already got one from preorder and the are no real reviews, just some first impresions from a few small channels. I got mine for 800 euro so around 675 dollars + VAT tax. It was preorder deal btw
Great review! Just ordered mine. Does the HDR cause any increase in input or system latency? I'm wanting to know if I should have it on when I play high competitive FPS games. Thanks!
That isn’t a problem on oled displays. Only on mini leds.
Guess it's time I finally upgrade to 4K. Been with the ROG PG278Q since 2015.
Great video so lost on what monitor to get I only game on PS5 what would you recommend from all of the new ones coming out this year? I know all the monitor are over kill for PS5.
For PS5 I would pickup an LG TV. 42 inch LG C2 or C3 is like $899 here in the US.
Hope the 48 inch ones coming too
This monitor is $1500 in Poland. XDXDXD WOLEDs comming this year are better though. Much brighter! :) LG realased 1440p variant a few weeks ago already and it costs 1/3 less. At least in Europe.
Edit: It's not really confirmed if its a new gen panel but it got soome pretty big improvements.
The GS? Yeah it's a refresh of GR with a new gen panel.
Too bad that all of the WOLED monitors have matte finish...
Thank you. This Video was exactly what I searched. I like your very analitical Style a lot. The Price Tag of the MSI Monitor is somthing that make me wait until Summer or autumn.
any chance for a dell 32 4k review? here in germany its the only one with decent pricing
now thats more like it, still waiting for sales but great starting price
I can't unsee the power led under the screen.
In Europe MSI is 1550$ priced.
Do any of these new 4k Oleds have a mode to use a black border to simulate a smaller screen size, similar to the Asus pg27aqdm?
Have you guys considered looking into koorui's monitors? I'm interested in the gp01 because it's seemingly the only high refresh 1440p monitor at a 24" size, but all of their prices are pretty aggressive in the US
Thanks!
6k PLN in Poland. 4k PLN for the LG 42C3. If you can fit the TV on your desk and sit around 80-90 cm from it (eyes - screen distance), don’t bother with the 32-inchers IMO, unless you care about competitive FPS gaming.
Thank you for this video. I am thinking of getting a 4k 240hz monitor.
Looking to replace mini led monitor with this. Mainly productivity!
hi friend, I wanted to know does this msi Mog 321URX QD-OLED monitor also have the spectrum bar and Skysight? or is there only the MEG 321URX QD-OLED? thanks in advance, waiting for your reply, best regards
Can't wait for the 480Hz OLEDs
LG already has one
Should mention that Asus offer advanced panel replacement with their warranty like Dell does. Not sure if MSI offers this. Heard you have to send it back to factory and wait for it. So you would have to add the cost of a BB warranty or something as well and the price gets closer.
Are you planning an reviewing the 27" version? Or may we simply expect similar results?
Managed to pickup G9 OLED for about $760 off amz warehouse; might be too much real estate moving from a 21:9 but nothing close to that price thats better
¥217,800 here in Japan. This is compared to the Alienware which is ¥159,800 a ¥60,000 (approx. $400 USD) difference. I just got my 27” AW OLED Monitor and am very happy with it
May I ask if you could add recommendation to hybrid users ( gaming and productivity)? Things like how text look like, and burn in for someone using word or excel or coding.
In that regard would you recommend oled monitors? or should I seek for a IPS-Black or another type of panel for the best quality in gaming and media posible?
Curious if you could comment on the anti-burn in features that might of popped up during the testing of these 3rd Gen 32" 240 OLED displays? How disruptive might any on-screen pops ups been etc?
Every 4 hours, or 16 if you change it in the OSD. And it took long enough for me to just walk away and eat dinner... Don't know how long it takes yet. By brightness levels are only HDR400 which peaks at 450 nid for me, peak 1000 is beautiful, but too bright for me. With the brightness of my usual usage, I'll probably turn on the 16 hour mode
are you gonna do a review for the Asus VG27AQL3A? I was interested in how it stacks up against the MSI G274QPF QD
Are you able to test for the dreaded G-Sync compatible flickering that a lot of OLEDs seem to have? I recently purchased & sadly returned the AW3225QF due to an insufferable flickering it produced whenever G-Sync was enabled and I am hoping not all these new panels have that issue...
I have and use this MSI monitor, DP1.4a, 10bit color, 240hz with VRR enabled and have seen no flicker with this setup. Compression is like 3x but it looks and seems fine to me. Will switch to HDMI when my good cable comes in tomorrow.
From what I saw the G Sync flicker is specific to the Dell QD Oleds (could be wrong, but its where Ive predominantly seen this complaint as well as the one with Dolby Vision)
Waiting for the HP Transcend variant, the feature set on that one is just bonkers. If that one disappoints, I'll just wait for the LG panel variants. But, for less than 1k this is pretty good
Would love a comparison between these 4k 240hz qd oleds and the LG C2
@monitors Unboxed How do static UI affect burn in when talking about gaming?
I will wait for the other brands/models that will be launched,
so I can compare them.
I wonder what the cooling performance is on these. The slimmer panel compared to other panels means potentially less room for things like heatsinks, which potentially means faster burn-in.
All QD-OLED will always burn in faster than WOLED. There's nothing about new generations that will ever change this fact. All QD-OLED means is they have a special coating that is closer to CRT phosphors, where the light passing through it causes the material to "glow", and brightness increases primarily come from being able to make them glow brighter. That doesn't change the fact that the RGB subpixels have to run at different power levels due to the nature of different wavelengths of light, so certain subpixels will always wear out faster, which is the source of burn in. WOLED on the other hand, uses a white subpixel to help mitigate this by not having to push the RGB subpixels as hard to reach the same brightness levels, because if you wanted to display a shade of blue for example, you'd use the blue subpixel + the white subpixel, and you'd simply modulate how bright the white subpixel is.
