That is a really good price and I see it's in stock and available to buy in the UK now. The Asus ROG swift PG32UCDM that I have had my eyes on for ages is available for pre order in the UK for £1350. I will still be going for the Asus model as I do prefer the design, the black colour and the non curved screen. It is definitely not £360 better than the Alienware though (good ol' ROG Tax)
Ordered mine a week ago, arriving Friday. Paid £939. Even with other similar models coming out later this year that’s likely going to be competitive pricing for what you’re getting.
Great review. I've never had or wanted a curved monitor, but due to pricing here in Germany (and availability of models when I finished a new build and needed a monitor) I ended up ordering this. It arrived a week or two ago and I absolutely love it. I thought I'd hate the curve, but it's so subtle that I barely notice it. I only use the monitor for gaming, so maybe that helps. Every time I boot a game I'm blown away, and the build quality is excellent. It's great that there are a bunch of 32" 4K 240 Hz OLEDs that people can choose from to fit their needs.
Only time I notice the curve is when I notice it looks cool. Not a curve kind of guy but a curve this slight isn't a big deal and wows people when they see that it's curved lol
In the UK this is like £300 cheaper than all the others. And funnily enough, I actually do already have the Samsung Odyssey G7 with an even more aggressive curse at a smaller size, and I actually like even though I thought I hate it. The curse on this thing will be a bonus.
At first I was a curved monitor skeptic and wanted to hold out for the MSI MPG321URX, but shipping and availability was not looking good so I took a chance on this AW3225QF and have been absolutely loving it. HDR1000 mode for my PC over displayport, Dolby Vision for my PS5, and SDR sRGB for my Mac for work 8 hours a day. Can confirm the Dolby Vision bug is from Windows, I leave off autoHDR too, and the text clarity for my work as a UI/UX designer is great and just need to get used to the slight curve this has. 1700R is very mild! Thanks for your videos! Helped me decide and set up my monitors! 🙏
A suggestion for improvement of Monitor-Unboxed: Please list the VRR range (ex: 60-240Hz) and if the monitor supports LFC (if a dip below the VRR range gets doubled) in your mentions/checklist. It is critical information since some demanding games on midrange GPUs:s seem to hover around 50-80 FPS average with dips/stutter, which could introduce tearing if LFC is not present. It is cheaper to buy a high framerate display than getting a GPU that can drive it at 1440p and up for demanding games 😅 So rather than a checkmark, please put a range (yellow) and mention LFC (green). Freesync Premium and Gsync are supposed to have LFC, but it is difficult to find such info in spec sheets.
LFC at least for AMD is always there, when the highest supported framerate is more than double the lowest framerate of the refresh range. But including the range really would be nice
If a game is stuttering you're probably going to want to disable VRR on an OLED. All OLEDs have VRR gamma problems. Every time a game has frametime spikes the brightness fluctuates.
In Europe, this Alienware monitor is broadly available while the 2 others are not yet and cost 300-400€ more (which is insane). Thank you Asus and MSI, the choice will be easily made. Also, for warranty and RMA, I'd trust Dell more than MSI or Asus.
This is true, I've been trying to find either Asus or MSI but they either don't exist or are being scalped for ridiculous pricing. Alienware may not be the best of the two but its available. The only question now is if its better to wait and see if better options come or to grab alienware before it too becomes like asus and msi, scarce and overpriced.
@@drakkon2zshadowsz909you can wait six months to a year and they might be discounted some but do you really wanna wait? I feel like you'll be happy enough with this panel
Where in Europe though? Spain, France and Germany do not have it through amazon at all. Dell is really limited in Portugal so I have to get it from spain normally
@@Lethal_Intent Guess some are lucky, or maybe you got one with the new protective film added. I can now say 4 with scratches. I kept the fourth as it was the best so far and I was tired of dealing with it, but still not unscathed.
I returned the first one I bought because of the Dolby Vision issue. When Dell announced a firmware fix, I bought this monitor again and could not be happier. The Dolby Vision toggle works perfect for me and I love the curve. I primarily just game on it so it is a non issue for me having a curve.

Watching this on the AW3225Qf which arrived two days ago, and it's the best display I've ever owned by a landslide. Gaming, UA-cam, movies, series, productivity work, you name it. This baby does it all.
how are the scratches? I've seen dozens of people posting photos of the monitor coming with minor scratches because dell uses shitty packaging materials, which scratch the screen rather than protecting it.
Went with this one because of the glossy screen and curve. Was worried it would come scratched due to all the bad reviews about it being scratched during shipment but mine came flawless. Very happy with my purchase!
Lucky you man, my first AND second one came scratched and the second one had hardware issues took a month+ to get my refund was a very bad experience from Dell 😂 but glad yours is perfect!!
@@iwilltouchyourtoes curved displays don’t really bother me so I can’t speak for everyone. I even own a Samsung odyssey neo g8 with the insane curve and don’t mind it. I don’t notice it while using the monitor especially if you’re centered in front of it. I prefer curved monitors at this size because 32 inches is getting on the bigger side for me personally since I play competitive games and most people prefer 27 inches and lower for competitive but the curve helps alleviate the bigger size for me personally.
I bought this monitor and returned it. It's very nice but I'm used to ultrawide now. I've had the Alienware AW3423DWF for around 6 months and love it. I'll wait for a 4k ultrawide to hit the market before I upgrade.
There's no reason to buy any other 32 inch 4K OLED than this one if you're in Europe...unless you have an unlimited budget and/or REALLY hate the (slight) curve. The ASUS is several hundred euros more expensive and offers little extra, hard pass.
@@camboxromeo9513I do design work man I can't have my straight lines not being straight. I also use my desktop monitor to watch shows with my girl and I think it might be awkward to look at a curved screen from a couch together
@@camboxromeo9513 I do occasional design work, I want straight lines to be straight. I also use my PC monitor a lot to watch shows & movies with my girl from the couch. I got scammed today out of most of my savings so Im forced to wait now anyway
i would say you strongly notice it. But if you look down on your monitor i do find it like cool, but if i would have to look up to it, i would have it. For me, the whole stand is in package. Not interested in that.
Today in Australia, the AW3225QF went on discount to $1520aud. The MSI and ASUS are still both above $2200aud. It's a no brainer. Got mine for $1400aud via unidays
I'm driving a QHD 1800R 16:9 32" now. The curve is perfect. 1700R on this should be as well. Yes, the steep 1000R curves on some other monitors are annoying, but this gentle curve is better than flat. Put me in the "love" group. That said, I'm stalling till I can get some future-proofing in the form of DP2.1, I just hope I can get a gentle curve at the same time. (no announced models from any brand with both).
@@wurstwasserlieferant Having your PC more than 4' from your computer, AND not being able to relocate it has to be pretty rare for a regular desktop setup. Wouldn't be a problem for me. Watching this Review while i am waiting DHL to deliver my Alienware 3225QF later today 👽🖥💜 so satisfying 👾 thats divine timing i guess as i was waiting for that Review from this channel for weeks 💫 btw. this channel rocks and i am watching so much content here even if i would never buy all those monitors. Already annoying my gaming friends with my knowledge i gained over here. Thanks to "Monitor Unboxed" for all that precious informations and fun on that channel 👌
Thank you very much, I've been waiting for this review and to see how this matched up against the other 32" 240hz offerings. I am typically a flat panel person, but the slight curve seems like it might be a good change. My concerns are about the frame insertion and the various reports of packaging issues from Dell/Alienware. The other factor is that Alienware model is the only one that seems readily available today where ASUS seem to be probably two months from having their product widely available.
My model has some very minor scratches around the edge of the screen but I really have to take a light to the edge to tell. Dell apparently knows this is a problem so hopefully they're doing something about it. The curve looks cool imo and doesn't get in the way of anything for me.
Recently got the monitor and I can only recommend this! Switched from the AW3423DWF and with the resolution it's again another level - the combination of 4K, amazing HDR content and colors from QD-OLED and the 240hz refresh rate for competitive gaming is superb. I disabled Dolby Vision for now, which is totally fine. Hopefully Microsoft resolves this issue soon so DV doesn't have to be enabled manually when watching DV content.
@@donjuan2001I would get the QF all day, but ofc a personal opinion. I actually don’t miss the Ultra wide but I was used to 16:9 with other monitors all the time too. I am pretty sure though, that you’ll get used to 16:9 quite quickly again and also appreciate the much higher pixel density!
me personally pubg on wqhd is a joke. then the ski-lift ropes are a pixes here, and a pixel there. no[!] issues in other games. but since that, my believing in wqhd is gone. shurely fine for text and everything; exept my maingame. I think i will drive it in wqhd, cause due to interpolation or scaling . . . should be a massive improvement already. seen on my 4k TV doing UA-cam. A 1440p video is like no difference to a 4k video. Absolutely no needs for this you'll may know. 😊also if not playing pubg, with 4k you are not limited to a graphics card. in wqhd you sadly got no real reasons for uprading to a 5080. how sad(?) Shurely that will happen on 4k too. cause 4k is endgame. no more amount of more pixel or density needed till death. For any human at any time -> to the end of the planets life. Fact also for VR and apple vision pro already. What i wanted to say was: i had uwqhd Acer x34 - never would have anything other. but there was a 'must have' like real 1ms AnD more Hz for my eyes, so i got the Omen x27 with 0.72ms on pixel and real 1.7 GtG for 3 years now. Was hard for me to change on first thought but had to. Aaaand since mine broke and we had two, i had to grab last one from my father, buying him some 32" 4K for 180€. IPS Samsung. damn good screen, no blue light, kinda forget about LED's, low ips glowing. That's how i know it's kinda ultrawide. The amount of screen space compensates then
@@urkent4463 Nah 4K on a TV, where you sit meters away, is not remotely comparable to a monitor on your desk. There's a huge difference between 4K and WQHD, no matter if in videos, games, or especially on UI like windows, websites, etc. And WQHD scaled to 4K (except DLSS) doesn't make it much better. If this isn't a significant difference to you, you might need new glasses xD
DV should be backwards compatible to HDR10-it’s just a static metadata setup rather than dynamic. And there are a number of set top boxes, Apple TV most notably, that pin Dolby Vision on and simply map HDR10 and SDR into it. I think the culprit is the Dolby Vision Bright mode. That’s not a DV spec-I’m pretty sure it’s a boosted spec Dell put together for bright rooms, similar to LG’s DV Bright Room. Dolby Vision Dark is very likely equivalent to LG’s DV Cinema-ie unmodified Dolby Vision. That’s why the EOTF is basically right on target. The problem there is Dell capped it to 400 based on the HDR TB400 spec. If they’d allowed it to peak at 1000 I don’t think any of these issues would have occurred.
Correcting myself, I don’t think DV Bright is a *Dolby reference* profile, it’s a manufacturer-modified one for brightness boost (Game is probably brilliance). DV Dark probably is the Dolby reference profile. And iirc it’s not actually capped to 400, it’s capped to 500-the 10% capability of the monitor. But as DV *content* is supposed to be mastered for at least 1000 nits peak, that was still a weird move.
geoelectric HDR10 is TV format, not meant for monitors. You need 12 bit colors, movie guy, 4.4.4 color Depth needed ? reference monitor, this is NOT that !
Considering that both the MSI and ASUS models are £300-£350 (like $400 USD) more expensive than the AW3225QF here in the UK, the AW monitor is the clear winner of the 3 (unless you really hate the curve). That's like a 36% price increase. I don't know if it's just high pricing, import taxes etc, but the KVM and/or USB-C PD simply isn't worth that price premium to me, especially when the actual panel performance between the models is almost identical.
There are Videos out there showcasing exactly that! Just search on UA-cam you will find at least 2-3 Videos. I came from Neo G7 to that 3223QF and i can tell you the Peak Brightness on the Samsung Mini LED is from another world. Trying to adapt to the lower brightness and i am searching the right settings but there are no settings to compensate the peak brightness difference. Picture is from another world tho. Its all like animated and you see what the people who make these games where intended to show on screen. No doubt the OLED is FAR Superior in that manner but BRIGHTNESS is a point where MINI LED is far better. As more contrast your eyes need (older eyes) as better brightness is for your experience. Something i noticed ...
@echthings2683It really depends on the game, if there's a lot of frame fluctuation/frame spikes you'll notice it while usign VRR. It's a problem with all OLED's.
Had this display a few weeks now. I was not excited about the curve, it's so subtle I do not even notice it now. I have been impressed so far. Came from ASUS PG42UQ. This has been a really nice upgrade and much brighter. I will swap it out for the ASUS however as soon as I can get it. My wife will inherit this.
this is better than the asus unless you're working with image/video. beyond 27' there's clear distancing at your peripheral making the monitor appear concave like a crt, you haven't noticed before because you got so used to your brain converting it, its a waste of resources. even tho qd oled has the best viewing angles, 32'' is 32" is 32".. you're going to have to convert your periphery unnecessarily by going back to the asus
I got this monitor and honestly the curve on it is so nice. i’ve been trying out different monitors and at 32” screens i feel like flat monitors have a weird viewing angle for the corners. as if they’re further away than they should. but with this monitor being curved, it looks natural. i mean you can’t even tell it’s curved when playing on it!
Hi, I hope you respond, but do you still feel this way? I ordered this monitor recently and am wondering what to expect as I've never owned a curved monitor.
@@platinum4809 yes, I absolutely love the monitor still. No problems, great picture, no complaints at all, and honestly I totally forgot the curve was even there, it’s nice.
@monitorsunboxed in the screen coating section of your video from about 7:10 it looks like the centre of your panel is pretty heavily scratched/scuffed, how come you didn't mention this? There are a lot of comments on Reddit about this being a significant issue caused by how Dell are shipping these with bubble wrap directly over the screen, it seems to be quite common and could be a pretty big dealbreaker if you have to return multiple units to get one that isn't damaged
Nice spot, I couldn't see that in 720p had to switch to 4k and re watch haha. Interesting that even his review sample has damaged, I assume dell know about this?
Looking forward to your review of the Dell AW2725DF which I have been using here in the UK since 8th February. It's easily the best monitor I have ever owned and showed just how poor the ASUS PG279Q IPS monitor was that it replaced. My only complaint with the AW2725DF is VRR flickering when using G-SYNC. It is fine 90% of the time for games but I see flickering on bright and dark desktop backgrounds as well as flickering on dark grey loading screens and even in the games themselves. I understand this is an issue inherent to OLEDs and although not specifically mentioned in this review I am curious to know if the AW3225QF, with its G-SYNC Compatible certification also suffers from this issue. I have seen a few complaints from people with the AW3225QF about the flickering but it is so new that getting accurate feedback is difficult. However, it does sound like the AW3225QF is just as prone to VRR flicker as the AW2725DF from reading around. It would be nice to know for sure though.
From what I’ve heard, VRR Flicker on OLEDs is an issue on all OLEDs right now. Also in my experience and from what I’ve seen, LCDs also had it, but only with higher contrast ratio panels (VA). I had a Samsung Odyssey G7 and it had a bit of VRR flicker on some scenes. Then I got a LG 27GR95QE-B and it had insane VRR flicker on some scenes, had to turn it off tbh. Now on the AW2725DF I haven’t tested those same scenes, but I fully expect it to flicker aswell. Oh, and GSYNC hardware module doesn’t seem to fix it as well. The 34” QD-OLED G-SYNC also has the flickering issue on some content, seemingly a bit less, but still there.
VRR flicker with dark gray is an issue on all OLED panels (and some non-OLED panels), regardless of GSYNC module. Some people claim to fix it by capping refresh rate 10 Hz lower in CRU. I've not tested it. I just deal with it for now.
@@TH-lo8mq It might fix for their scenario, but it doesn’t fix it overall. I’ve tried most of these solutions. HDMI 2.1, DP, capping refresh rate, changing the Low Framerate Compensation range… there was no fixing it in my testing. It is mostly caused by sharp framerate fluctuations. I’ve tested on Tarkov, which has a lot of dark greys and framerate fluctuations, it flickers A LOT. Only solution was disabling VRR.
I broke down and bought this. I absolutely LOVE it. The screen was beautiful and now that the firmware was updated to allow Dolby Vision to be disabled, its pretty much perfect. I also had last years LG OLED and this Alienware pretty much gets rid of all the issues I had with the LG. On the LG, VRR flicker and aggressive dimming was VERY distracting. I keep it in HDR400 mode and all of that has been a non-issue. Excellent monitor and I love the curve. I do wish it had BFI that I could use for games in which I can hit 120 fps easily, but not 240.
With the Dolby vision toggle I am happy with my purchase of this monitor. In Canada after promotions I was able to purchase it for 65% of the Asus (1175 vs 1800). Paying over $600 more for the same panel, those features and arguably a worse atheistic meant Alienware monitors continue to do the trick for me!
I just got this one today and hooking it up soon. I hope it will work as good as I have been hearing. It will pair nicely with my LG 27" OLED which I already love. I wanted this for the 4k paired with the OLED. I do not think the curve is going to bother me at all.
I bought 3 differsnt monitors in the past month, once i saw this monitor go on sale 100 CAD off i swapped from a 4k msi mag ips to this. After taxes 1,500 CAD for qd-oled vs 1100 for the msi ips. Best upgrade so far. This monitor is beautiful.
That’s nice of you talking about curved and flat , in europe we don’t have that choice unless you willing to pay 400-450 euros more , i bought mine alienware 1080euro
Another thing to check: if DSR/DLDSR working? Alienware 34" AW3423DW DSR/DLDSR is working without any issues, because it's not using DP-DSC (Display Stream Compression), but in this monitor it's not working at all, 'cause this one is using DSC.
12-bit screen. 240Hz + Dolby Vision with 4k. Nothing else to say! You can even get a rec. 2020 and more working on this screen. Got mine a month ago already. Best decision I've made this year so far.
Happy the text clarity issues are mostly resolved with this third gen qd oled. Now I only need a flat panel and 27/28 inch and it will be perfect for both coding gaming.
Hey, awesome review again! Do you plan to take a look at Dell's 4025QW? That monitor sounds like a jack in all trades: seems to be great for work and for gaming too.
Imo flat panels introduce distortions even at a small 24” size, let alone 32”. After going from curved to flat the monitor looks convex. Which to me is the main question I have for flat panels, why would you not want curved? All it does is bring the super far away edges of your screen closer to you and at a much better viewing angle. I see no benefit for a flat panel but many for a curved
I have this monitor and have been awaiting this review. I bought it mostly to hold me over until the dual mode monitors come out later in the year. I have to say that despite being my first OLED, my first curved monitor, and my first premium product, I'm pretty disappointed. My Gigabyte M28U has a KVM, video over USB-C, and actually useful power delivery, all for less than half the price, and frequently on sale even lower. These features are also in competing OLEDs. Another reason I bought it was for Tekken, because I want the best response time and least input lag, and this monitor does deliver, but thats inherent to OLED, and not because of anything Dell did. It was first to market and the only curved one so far, and I don't think thats worth a $200 premium over the MSI that I wish I waited just a month for. I'm happy that out of the box it looks incredible, and I may miss the glossy coating since the dual mode ones are expected to be matte. I'm indifferent to the curve, but dont think I'll miss it considering I bounce back and forth to flat monitors and hardly notice. I know that saying gaming is at less risk of burn in is a generally acurate statement, but the amount of Tekken I play begs to differ. I can't wait for burned in health bars to significantly ruin my resale value, lmao.
Dells RMA process is known to be good and they ship the replacement before you ship the old one back. MSI makes you pay to ship your old monitor off first. I'd have to buy a new monitor to RMA the MSI one since I'm not waiting even a week without a monitor. The Alienware isn't the more expensive option in the long run. The power delivery and lack of a kvm switch is something I don't use at all personally
As someone with this monitor, I do not understand the concern with the curve of it? I am coming from an AW3423DW that also had a curve, so maybe I am just used to it. I seriously debated between this one and the PG32UCDM, but I felt that the customer service from Dell beats out Asus and in 3 years, I may need a replacement due to burn in. I know I can call Dell and they will ship me a replacement without hassle as I did the same thing with my previous AW3423DW.
Wow, eArc?? Finally! Ive been using a home theater receiver with my PC for audio, in conjunction with my retro consoles hooked up to it. But when using HDMI through it, it behaves as a monitor. eArc supposedly fixes that.
Been using a QD Oled for productivity use for almost a year now. No burn in nor any issues related to its usage. HOWEVER, for desktop use I have the brightness cranked down quite a bit from its max, its stilly plenty bright. Windows recognizes gaming, and cranks the brightness up when playing. IPS panels are not free from image retention either. I have a few that the windows taskbar burned into it.
This is excellent. It’s been in the Dell shop for a week or so and I’ve had my eyes on it since. Just waiting for Samsung to drop their model then I’ll finally decide.
One thing I would really love to see is comparing them side by side for us to see because I've noticed even the same panel can look different in specific situations, also the difference in max brightness is not really conveyed well with numbers because most people don't know how big the difference is, so a side by side brightness comparison is also very appreciated. Also a video explaining what to look for in a monitor and what all those numbers you show us mean do will be very helpful too as I don't really know what most of them do and why it's important. Also a chart showing which monitor is best in value in all price points in a category (i.e. different bars above/below each other where the price is compared at all levels) is very important as pricing can always change and in different parts of the world they can vary a lot. Thanks!
I mean, I currently have dual 32 inch 60 Hz refresh HD monitor for my set up. Yes it is a 1080P monitor and it's a big 32 inch display so you could see the pixels. Definitely thinking about upgrading to a better monitor and this one was perfect because l did not want to compromise on the size of the display but at the same time I want a good quality display with high refresh rate. And this monitor fits everything 32 inches, 4K, 240 so high refresh rate. But the cherry on top is the fact that it's an OLED which is a big deal because I can't get over the fact that my main monitors for my main gaming PC set up are not sharp. And for other people, maybe they don't really care or can't even tell the difference but I could tell the difference due to the fact that I do daily drive a 15 ProMax, 23 M3 Max MacBook Pro 16in, 24 iPad Pro 13in, and an Ultra Watch. All these have OLED displays and definitely there's a big difference between OLED and a regular non OLED display. But the price might be a little steep, but I'll probably just buy one out of the two monitors and it will be my main monitor out of the 2.
Its not only OLED that gets burn in. I had several 1000+ dollars monitors get burn in after a few years of usage. One of them (IPS) started getting image retention aswell when high contrast images was displayed for a few seconds. Had both burn in on IPS and VA. I also once got burn-in on an OLED phone screen within a week of usage, also 1000+ dollars device.
As someone still rocking a LG C2 42" seeing these 4K 240hz OLEDs are tempting. Maybe do a review of C3-C4 as a PC monitor. Neither are much different from C2 so maybe you can do it as a pseudo-rereview of C2 compared to modern OLED monitors. The options since C2 came out are way better and more competitively priced. Also why does C2 not suffer from this dolby vision bug? The only time I've tried DV for gaming was Mass Effect Andromeda and I couldn't get it working. The only time I use DV is streaming content with built-in apps (not PC) and it looks great.
I too use the lg c2 for my pc monitor. No signs of burn in however im starting not notice subtle horizontal lines/banding after a year or so of use. I think i might give this new alienware a shot.
It's a shame this monitor doesn't exists in the PH. Would live to give AW a try. Also, the last 2 monitors (not counting the LG WOLED ones and the Samsung Matte Monitor) will be interesting. Both have speakers and DP 2.1, one with passive cooling and one in active cooling.
@@vmmd8229 There is one that sells a AW3225QF but its a only online seller and its like 85,000 pesos. Waiting for MSI or ASUS to move their butts and release them here :/
So glad that Dell gave us this curved option, and they did the right amount of curve, not too much like Samsung. Now if only it wasn't so expensive, and we had GPUs to properly utilize it.
The main problem is dell is the only new monitor that actually has stock available. I am willing to bet the others will continue to be difficult to purchase for quite some time.
So hang on here so you’re telling me that I can get 4K 240 hz with HDMI 2.1?? I thought it had always been capped at 120hz? I’m clueless on this stuff so that’s why I’m asking. Just bought this monitor and it’s being delivered in a couple days. So excited and amazing review
I've seen reports that G-Sync doesn't work over HDMI 2.1 on this display, which one would think you would prefer to use over DP1.4 as it has considerably more bandwidth and could use a less aggressive DSC profile. Is this still the case?
Great comprehensive review, i can't wait for the LG gaming OLED. I REALLY hope its worth the wait as the ASUS is looking pretty darn good though i would want to know whethether the USB C can connect to my phone as a full screen monitor for the camera app? Also the text clarity is very important.
While consistent reviewing and such are good, i got deja vu several times from last monitor, would be a plus if the sentences were a bit rephrased once in a while so to avoid the copy paste feeling
Could you comment on the AW3225QF display scuffing / scratching that Dell’s choice of a foam screen protector rather than the typical plastic peel leaves on most units? This display damage isn’t typically visible in regular use, but is easily visible in a bright day lit room or with a phone torch and it’s unacceptable for a $1200 premium product. Some US buyers have gone through 3-4 exchanges already trying to get a panel without this packing material related damage without success so it’s definitely a widespread issue.
@@JDSPonYT I’m sure some people are receiving units without scratches - my AW3423DWF with the same weird foam screen protector was perfect. The issue with AW3225QF screen damage is real and widespread though. The initial AW3225QF unit I received had significant scuffing / scratches so I’m waiting on a replacement now.
I’m convinced half the people saying they have no scratches just aren’t taking a flashlight to it and looking closely. They’re only visible from certain angles in bright light. I just received my second AW3225QF; they’re both scratched.
That would have been wild considering how much 1200 is a deal compared to what was coming out just a year or so ago. Oleds aren't cheap but they've made real progress in getting cheaper. Give it a year or two and these monitors will be about that
Dell monitors always support DDC-CI features, to switch monitor inputs using keyboard shortcuts. which is really needed for my worflow. I would get this any time of the day over Asus or MSI
I just learnt something new too! Google "Dell Display Manager" it uses this hardware feature, apparently you can set all the OSD stuff, and program keyboard shortcuts to switch the input device (into the monitor)@@j.echevarria8630
when it comes to RMA service theres big asterisk for MSI compare to dell. Customers need to pay their own shipping fee to ship the monitor to MSI repair center which is always in a foreign country. I had to pay 110 euros to ship within EU. While Dell offers shipping free of charge
I think you should also test uniformity with 1-15% grays. This is where this monitor struggles. I tried two units and both have noticeable banding issues in those dark grays. It can definitely be quite noticeable in some content, especially when using the monitor in a pitch black room, leading to distracting dirty screen effect with panning images. My previous AW3423DWF had noticeably better 1-15% gray uniformity, although the AW3223QF is more uniform with lighter colors.
Here in the UK it's £990, the MSI and Asus are both £1300, so it's a win for the Dell.
Same here in Switzerland Dell 999.- and Asus 1400.- so the price of Dell's Monitor isn't unbeatable!
I too prefer the Asus or even MSi but over 30% more expensive is a lot to swallow,@@IIMAVII
Yup just bought mine for £938 and it arrives next week. The MSI and Asus markup are complete deal breakers
Yeah, it's the most subtle curve I've ever seen. I barely notice it.
How is it when using general purpose software?
From money wise. The Dell is a clear winner for me in Norway.
ASUS PG32UCDM - $1700
MSI MPG 321URX - $1600
DELL AW3225QF - $1300
got it for 1050 in EU in €
Got it for 1050 too
where's the 27" 4k 240hz at?!
Funny to see Norwegians talk about value for money.
Broke Europeans only pick the lowest price, 0 game plan😂
Iam glad there is atleast one curved version. I personally love curve on 32 inch.
It is cheaper to buy a high framerate display than getting a GPU that can drive it at 1440p and up for demanding games 😅
So rather than a checkmark, please put a range (yellow) and mention LFC (green). Freesync Premium and Gsync are supposed to have LFC, but it is difficult to find such info in spec sheets.
iirc the Vesa Specification is in 99% of the cases 48Hz - XXXHz
They all have LFC don't worry
LFC at least for AMD is always there, when the highest supported framerate is more than double the lowest framerate of the refresh range.
But including the range really would be nice
If a game is stuttering you're probably going to want to disable VRR on an OLED. All OLEDs have VRR gamma problems. Every time a game has frametime spikes the brightness fluctuates.
Or just set a framerate cap to reduce variance instead of disabling VRR

Thank you for addressing the Dolby issue. Incredibly detailed review.
Do you feel as though you're losing anything major by forgoing ultrawide and going back to 16:9? I'm trying to decide between the DW and the QF.
If this isn't a significant difference to you, you might need new glasses xD
i know it's significant on monitor!
but must be better than wqhd by far

HDR10 is TV format, not meant for monitors.

Another great review! I’ve been watching your videos over the last year, drooling over OLEDs but I think 4k OLED is what I’ve been waiting for❤
Considering that both the MSI and ASUS models are £300-£350 (like $400 USD) more expensive than the AW3225QF here in the UK, the AW monitor is the clear winner of the 3 (unless you really hate the curve). That's like a 36% price increase. I don't know if it's just high pricing, import taxes etc, but the KVM and/or USB-C PD simply isn't worth that price premium to me, especially when the actual panel performance between the models is almost identical.
Definitely get alienware over asus or msi for value for money.
Excellent review! I'd love to see the Odessey G8, 240hz 32in compared in there instead of the older Odessey G7.

@monitorsunboxed in the screen coating section of your video from about 7:10 it looks like the centre of your panel is pretty heavily scratched/scuffed, how come you didn't mention this?

Now I only need a flat panel and 27/28 inch and it will be perfect for both coding gaming.
Great review thank you!
I'm wondering about how the fan willb behave in a warm room. Will it become audible?
Ordered this screen today, looking forward to seeing how it performs.
My first curved monitor and I'm loving it
in México it seems to be the only available option since both MSI and ASUS haven’t released it yet

Buying this thing tomorrow. I dont want a curved monitor, but the price benefit in the EU is too much to ignore.
Thanks!
Wish my country had this. Been waiting for this for so long.
Thanks for explaining the Dolby Vision issue. Makes sense now. Good on Dell.
curious about the 27" 4k lg mentioned in their roadmap. 27" realy is the maximum size for especially when dual screen setup is a must for me.
Just picked one up for $1207 in AU - Unbelievably happy - It's such a massive jump from Gigabyte M32UC
Thanks for the review Tim. Why didnt you say anything about scratches on the screen though ? It's a major issue with AW monitors.
Great Review. One question: What about gsync / free sync. Are these not a thing anymore? I have a Geforce card.
I'm wondering the same thing
Yes g sync certified
Yes I notice the flickering. I hope they can fix this as it’s not present on the others
Use display port for a flicker free experience
I’m am using display port
@@willdtechthings2683try a different cable.
@@Kapono5150It doesn't matter if you use HDMI or DP both have the same problem. Stop saying things that you don't know.
@@Simon_Denmark So far it doesn’t flicker for me while using display port. HDMI 2.1 while using Gsync could cause flickering, this I kno for sure 👍
It's a shame this monitor doesn't exists in the PH. Would live to give AW a try.
Also, the last 2 monitors (not counting the LG WOLED ones and the Samsung Matte Monitor) will be interesting. Both have speakers and DP 2.1, one with passive cooling and one in active cooling.
and dealing with import fees is tough , there are 3rd party sellers but still can't be too lax to deal with them
@@vmmd8229 There is one that sells a AW3225QF but its a only online seller and its like 85,000 pesos.
Waiting for MSI or ASUS to move their butts and release them here :/
Please review LG 27GS95QE, the refreshed version of last year (27GR95QE), more brightness, better coating.
Nice! I’ve been waiting for this video. Any recommended settings?
Firmware update is now available on the AW3225QF support page.
Amazing video, are you going to review the Cooler Master GZ2711? I can't really find any reviews about it.
So glad that Dell gave us this curved option, and they did the right amount of curve, not too much like Samsung. Now if only it wasn't so expensive, and we had GPUs to properly utilize it.
Will you review the AW2725DF anytime soon?
The main problem is dell is the only new monitor that actually has stock available. I am willing to bet the others will continue to be difficult to purchase for quite some time.
So hang on here so you’re telling me that I can get 4K 240 hz with HDMI 2.1?? I thought it had always been capped at 120hz? I’m clueless on this stuff so that’s why I’m asking. Just bought this monitor and it’s being delivered in a couple days. So excited and amazing review
I'm sure it's 120hz at 4k on hdmi
I've seen reports that G-Sync doesn't work over HDMI 2.1 on this display, which one would think you would prefer to use over DP1.4 as it has considerably more bandwidth and could use a less aggressive DSC profile. Is this still the case?
Eeww why. Will a firmware update fix this
It works perfectly
Those without issues aren't going out and saying they dont have issues
Mine is literally perfect, no issues on the display as a result of the foam
@@JDSPonYT I’m sure some people are receiving units without scratches - my AW3423DWF with the same weird foam screen protector was perfect. The issue with AW3225QF screen damage is real and widespread though. The initial AW3225QF unit I received had significant scuffing / scratches so I’m waiting on a replacement now.
Got mine last week and no scratches - clean as a whistle!
I’m convinced half the people saying they have no scratches just aren’t taking a flashlight to it and looking closely. They’re only visible from certain angles in bright light. I just received my second AW3225QF; they’re both scratched.
At 7:05 onwards (when he plays with the light) zoom in to the centre of the video/screen and you'll see his one is scratched too.
This was 900 during the announcement day direct from Dell. Shame that was a promo price apparently. Would have really disrupted the market.
That would have been wild considering how much 1200 is a deal compared to what was coming out just a year or so ago. Oleds aren't cheap but they've made real progress in getting cheaper. Give it a year or two and these monitors will be about that
It truly is a great year for monitors. Patiently waiting for restock of PG32UCDM.
This alienware monitor looks good too.
If you only 32 inch, many option for 240 hz !
What colors u use now, RGB 8 bit depth ? 4.2.2 ?
HWU actually recommends the MSI over the Asus. Unless the added features of the Asus fits your use case
@@Kapono5150but the Asus has such a thin lower bezel :( the msi has quite the aggressive design
@@Kapono5150 problem is the MSI model doesnt allow firmware updates. Thats a massive L to me and I will pass.
@@spectrentI am still waiting for PG32UCDM restock. I want all the features not some.
Dell monitors always support DDC-CI features, to switch monitor inputs using keyboard shortcuts. which is really needed for my worflow. I would get this any time of the day over Asus or MSI
Wait what??? How Do i set this up for DP and HDMI port 2?
I just learnt something new too! Google "Dell Display Manager" it uses this hardware feature, apparently you can set all the OSD stuff, and program keyboard shortcuts to switch the input device (into the monitor)@@j.echevarria8630
Great video! Quick question-if HDR1000 is set permanently on a QD-OLED monitor, could that cause any long-term damage to the screen? Thanks!
when it comes to RMA service theres big asterisk for MSI compare to dell.
Customers need to pay their own shipping fee to ship the monitor to MSI repair center which is always in a foreign country. I had to pay 110 euros to ship within EU. While Dell offers shipping free of charge
I own one - stunning!
Thank you for your hard work and a truly excellent review.
