    I never wanted a curved monitor, or an Alienware product of any kind, but the aw3225 was literally 40% cheaper than any of the alternatives. For anyone wondering: I don't notice the curve at alle in use.

      @@blurry9744 I play a lot of SC2 and it is only 2540/1440 (screen is 3440/1440) and on grey background I can see tiny little difference in the shade on left and right side that in StarCraft2 is just turned off. Nothing that you would notice without really looking for it - and only on plain grey. Screen is used ~14+ h a day :D It is Alienware 34" QD-OLED.
      I have 2x QHD IPS screens for work and multitasking on the side. Seriously - even if I'd have to swap it in like 2 years due to burn-in (doubt) I'd still consider it great value. Difference is HUGE. HDR is just amazin. I remember entering Gea-Kul in Diablo 4 first time and I felt like desert sun just blasted me right from the screen - I had to literally turn down brightness :P
      All in all - black, shadows, colors, responsivness and mentioned HDR are just on another level.

      @@blurry9744 meh, my previous reply didn't save. So... there is TINY difference on grey background where 2560x1440 differs from 3440x1440 (playing StarCraft 2) but nothing that you can notice without particularly looking for it. This is after 1 year of 14+ hours a day. Screen is AW 32" QD-OLED 165hz. It is freakin amazing at pretty much everything. Having 2 IPS screens on the sides and... man... I can never go back to IPS as a main screen.

      I don’t know about you but my Phone had oled for 12 years and never had issues. My QD-Oled is also fine. Only problem are bad games. If they have extreme 1% low FPS issues, it can lead to flicker which is annoying and I would probably get a headache but that’s a Game issue and the toll of having 360hz. One game I have experienced it is having a bug where certain text boxes are causing the issue of dropping me from 330hz 1% lows to 50hz. What I just did was limit the FPS to 120 in the game and the issue was gone.

They will be equipped with the new DP2.1 interface. Meaning no more black screens in between alt-tabbing and uncompressed video due to the 80gbs connector. Let's see which GPU will start to support it, too.

    I bought the Alienware 3225 and the Samsung g80sd and had them side by side. It’s crazy how much the matte coating mutes the color vibrancy and adds a grey tint to the blacks. It was a great display, but the gloss finish on the Alienware really makes the colors pop and the blacks look inky. In my opinion it wasn’t even close, even though they use the same panel. Gloss finish is a game changer for those of you making a decision. And the curve is so subtle you can’t even notice it while using it.

There is also black frame insertion, which I didn’t expect. It seems like LG has brought everything from the C3 to the B4 and it is only missing an incremental processor bump + some AI features. My newly acquired Gigabyte MO34WQC2 in Australia right now cost me $1350.00 with the Black Friday sale. The Alienware AW3423DWF here is still $1260.00, and we basically NEVER see that thing on sale here in Oz.
    So for me this was an incredibly easy pick. The Gigabyte is the superior monitor; it is 240hz, and it does have excellent build quality and was well packaged and protected with a protective film over the screen etc, something I've heard from disgruntled buyers the AW does not have and people have had scratches as a result.

      the LG 42" don't have the EVO panel neither MLA panel, and they're less bright than the bigger sizes of same models that have EVO or MLA. and when Game Mode is enabled, you can't enable peak brightness, so the brightness is very low. rtings gave the SDR brightness of C4 42" a 6.4 score. and you need Game Mode to get the low response time, cause otherwise the response time is high for gaming. and Samsung and Sony do similar shenanigans in the 42" size. the Samsung S90C is QD-Oled. the 42" is not QD Oled, so you get a less bright TV, etc. this is a scam, and so is the 42" of LG C-series. the 42-43" size TV's are not good for gaming. i'd rather get a 27" Oled monitor with more brightness. i choose the lower size and brighter over bigger size and dimmer.

The curve is only slight and i honestly like the curve as it feels a bit more immersive and helps with the reflections. It also just works for my desk. Oh god do I love it. I haven't experienced any other Oleds apart from a PsVita1000 and a Steamdeck oled but let me tell you it absolutley rivals the prettyness of the steamdeck Oled but gives me that bigger and higher res screen that I love.
    As someone who can notice framerate dips 60hz on this thing honestly feels amazing due to the latency and colour. Its just so great. I finally have a reason to want to use AFMF (AMD's Driver based frame gen which works really well after 60hz is hit)

      @lennartrauhe Місяць тому

      @SapiaNt0mata I own the monitor for almost 2 months now, using it daily. I get that flickering VERY rarely even with "VRR Control" permanently turned off. (VRR is on, the "Controll" feature is merely prohibiting the flicker.) If you can live with the extra latency of turning it on, flickering is completely gone, I'd use that in single-player games. I might have been lucky with my unit, but it's really working great in my experience. Flickering only occurs when my frame rate drops super low, for example when loading a map, but practically never in actual gameplay :)
      I had some scary image retention in the first couple of days, when using maximum brightness in the "high peak brightness mode", gladly it all went away completely after a few days. But since using 20 to 40 on the brightness setting (60 is max I believe), that never occurred again.
      I like the monitor a lot. The only thing I could wish for, was a little bit more screenspace, like u get on a 39" optimally with a 3840x1600 resolution, but that does not exist as an Oled panel yet. An even higher refresh rate would be a nice bonus, because I'm already loving that 175Hz clarity with that Oled responsiveness! :)
      So until that optimal screen exists, I'll be super happy with my purchase, especially at the 700€ price tag I got around black friday.

      @zaid19961 I've been using it for like 2 weeks now and it is great. I switched from g7 odyssey (first gen I think, 27 curved va panel) and colors are nicer, dark scenes are so much better, view angles are perfect and all of the other benefits of oled. The downside of oled is usually the brightness but I really have no problem using it in a bright room, screen coating is working very well, glare is so low that it doesn't matter

But I definitely don't see myself scrapping the IPS anytime soon. To me the annoyances of using OLED are definitely real. But I really don't find it to be a game changer. And if I were to only have one I'd keep the IPS.
