  • Join me and my good mate Alex, for a five day hike through amazing Australian Wilderness. We walk, wade, swim and make our way through the entire gorge, travelling around 70 km. We set up camp in some amazing spots and despite the hard work and tricky conditions, we have a fantastic time and lots of laughs.
    This is stunning, ancient country.
Please note, off-track walking in remote and isolated places can be amazing, but also very difficult and dangerous. We are both experienced bush walkers (we have walked this gorge for over 13 years) and have the right gear to make this type of adventure as a safe as possible. We undertook extensive research and planning and supported each other to walk to the conditions and within our abilities.
Some of the gear I use (not sponsored or placed)
Shoes - Adidas Terrex Swift 2 mid GTX
Gaiters - Sea to Summit Quagmire (event - medium)
    Pants - Montane Terra
Pack - Granite Gear Crown 2 60 long (I will use the Blaze 60 in future for extended trips with heavy loads)
    Tent - Nemo Dagger 2P
Sleeping bag - Mont Helium 600
Sleeping pad - Sea to Summing Either Light XT (insulated regular wide)
    Headlamp - Nitecore NU25
    Stove - Soto Windmaster
Coffee Dripper - Munieq Tetra Drip (PP large)
Main camera - Olympus OMD EM1 iii with Rode VideoMicPro+ (7-14 F2.8 pro and 14-150ii)
Go Pro - Hero 9 black - media mod with Rode Video Micro.

great work Erik, this was amazing to watch, thanks for sharing. In the end, what was your total weight setting out? I'd be keen to see another load out review talking about what you took with you.

Thanks Dave, glad you enjoyed it. I didn't have time to film a gear load out video this time around, but I did list some of my main gear in the video description. My starting weight was 19.1 kgs. This doesn't include 2L water or 350ml of gin. 4.5 kgs of that weight was 6 days worth of food and another 4.1kgs for camera gear.

Hey mate, you might know of it already but 3B Cream is excellent for preventing chafing. The water won’t wash it off either on your crossings. I generally put it on if I’m doing a longer hike or even going for a run. It’s an absolute game changer. People recommend other creams and even Vaso but I promise you 3B is the best you will find. Vaso is perfect for the healing process but not as nice to have on as a preventative. Enjoying the video so far!

An awesome adventure Erik n Alex. Such a wearysome trail that you did justice to. The waterways looked great but the pikes of debris show how badly the fires then the floods picking it up have changed the landscape. Alex has some dry wit that threw in for entertainment .. like his Superman look .. lol. ATVB guys want some more of these they are epic. Thanks for sharing our beautiful outdoors. Bushyboy Oz.

Another epic multi-day hike Boys! That was some amazing scenery you hiked through and can't believe just how much debris had collected along the stumps, rocks, embankments, etc. and seeing the volume of river rocks and boulders was insane!! Bugger about the chafing Erik... I'm sure deep down Alex felt bad for you! 🤣😂 Thanks for taking us along Mate.

what kind of boots are you guys using? they seem to have excellent grip, even when wet.

    • @ERIKOFFTRACK
      @ERIKOFFTRACK  2 роки тому +1

Yeah a lot of boots don't grip well on wet rocks, so the rubber compound and lug pattern are really important, especially for a walk like this. I was wearing Adidas Terrex Swift R2 boots - they use a sole from the company Continental. Alex wore Scarpa Kailash Trek boots with Vibram soles. Both offer good grip in these sort of conditions. A trek like this will wear boots quickly though. Mine were brand new and I think I've taken at least half the tred off on this trip.
