4 years later and its still in concept, looks like a great ship if it ever comes out
+2 months, and it isn't even on their roadmap. Disappointing.
Needs revamped medical play, scanning, drones, and ship tractors first. This ship isnt coming out any time soon.
Got one for a drug transport.
Ever watch cannonball run?
"Who's gonna stop an ambulance?"
And depending on the drug, even if the heat does detect it onboard, they might figure it's a legit shipment between facilities. I doubt an Advocacy ship would hesitate pulling over an Apollo if they detect the hold is stuffed to the gills with WiDoW
Classic movie...they don't make them like they used to! lol
Will it come with a Burt Reynolds or Dom Deliuse bobbleheads? Lol o7
OriginalGamerOnline yes.
And a Captain Chaos or Captain USA flight suit.
Perfect!!
Wouldn't mind seeing a cargo variant, or a combat variant of this hull. It's a cool design.
needs more exploring ships we got to many cargo/fighters
I'd be down for that. It already reminds me of a Starfleet ship.
I think the Triage version is the combat search and rescue with the heavier armor and slightly upgraded weapons.
I agree an exploration varient would be better. We need more medium size explorer ships. At least add an explorer friendly module. Still would be good in an exploration fleet ie Carrak + Starfarer + Cruicible + Apollo.
We need a mid-sized Starfarer, actually. The Vulcan doesn't count because it can't collect and refine the fuel.
"Shoilet"! Good call!! Thanks in advance for your courtesy flush on the Apollo, STLY!
Wowee. This was 3 years ago and we just got an update that team members were assigned to the ship :O
The cutlass red has only one bed? Now I'm disappointed 😞
Has 2
It has two
I now have issue with the cutlass red design. Its a big ship for only a single tier 3 bed. I feel it could have 4 tier 3 bed not interchageable with other tier bed. I feel it might just not be worth the time ans ressource to get a cutlass red out to rescue a single soul. And finally, How do you retreive floating bodies from a cutlass red? your gonna need someone operating a tractorbeam somehow. So, 2 man cutlass outthere hoping to find a single soul to rescue, hard to tell if they will break even with the ressource invested.
Thanks for your thoughts, been waiting for your video all day. Love the Apollo, I think it would be great for a small org that can't take on the cost of an Endeavour. That being said in my opinion the hull is sexy as hell and I hope they use it to fill other roles, seems like it could make a great smuggling ship.
I wonder how long it will take to heal someone with life threatening injuries?
The 3 Tier III and 1 Tier I bed setup seems pretty good for small and medium Orgs.
Healing one person while stabilizing 3 others and rotating them into the Tier I bed as it becomes available, could be really effective.
Of course we don't know until we have more information on Medical gameplay.
Tier 3 and 2 beds are already in game, though the time is the same for both. Roughly a minute.
Ari's Air Rescue is getting closer with 3.23.1 here 💗😍💗
Great video once again STL! Thanks for bringin’ it down to brass tax the way only you can do it. Have a wonderful day yourself :)
Thanks for the breakdown.
I picked one up myself;I'm collecting ships that fit paradigms, and the Apollo fits the "MASH" vibe well (the hope class doesn't count as a MASH, it's more a actual hospital and is designed to NOT go anywhere near the battlefield).
It'll go nice alongside my redeemer (gunship/superheavy fighter/boarding craft/secure courier), warlock (ambush and interdiction), prospector (solo mining), hull b (light cargo running) and vulture...
And my org is happy;although we have 2 endeavours on the roster along with a Polaris, neither of the endevours will be set up permanently as medical ships; ones going to be all about the hydroponics and science (drugs yo!) And the others gonna be purely about the overcharging...supercollider fun!
but is there a meth lab/cyborg upgrade shop/tatoo version
Thanks STL! I really love this ship. I can't decide if I should melt my 600i E for some more mid range, practical ships. This helps me but i'd love to hear your thoughts!
Nice that you make these every time!
Glad you appreciate them!
I wonder where in the medical echelon a med bay such as in the Carrack will fall.
Hi STLYoungblood, could you discuss about whether the Vanguard Harbinger is worth getting in comparison to other fighters and bombers? It seems to not be the best fighter, or the best bomber but somewhere in between.
I’m planning on doing this intrepid, touring the risky misdion routes and catching pol bleeding out, or respawning in my ship!
looks like a slicked up version of the conny
It's 2020 - did the medic role ever release?
Are the ships still purchasable?
Nice vid thx😎
I bought one plan on running like a trauma team international type team like cyperpunk and charge people a heafty sum to extract them from a hot zone and heal them
The big non-warbond multi-ship packages/bundles come with LTI. It's good for people wanting to consolidate fleets. Has been true for the last two sales.
Thanks for the great video. This ship is growing on me as my wallet sweats. ;-)
Two tier one beds with a two crew ship would be my ideal for my Medivac.
I feel like this could double as exploration, the medic capabilities letting the crew stay longer in harsh conditions
It'd be an important ship in an exploration fleet.
I upgraded my Cutlass Red with LTI to the Apollo Medivac variant which I hope will fit in my Endevour. Very Excited for this game play mechanic...
Not sure why it needs a reception area. Who's gonna be waiting in there?. Surely some living quarters for the crew would be more useful. Good video though.
Cutlass Red is an Ambulance
Apollo is a Clinic(shown by the large extended ramp and reception desk) with CSAR/SAR and Rapid Response capabilities
House the reds on your endeavor.
Keep the Apollos in the ground for radio contact.
Profit
No need to speculate just take it straight from CIGs mouth
I got the Triage as a partner Ship my Endeavor. Since I couldnt decide yet I got the Upgrade to a Medivac too.
Good plan.
Agreed. Seriously thinking hard about converting my $350 into the Medec, which would work so well with my Hope class.
I got the ships I want to make an engineering logistics service fleet. From resource acquisition to supplying parts for ship repair.
Is there any reason why the Crisis pack is not visible to me in the store?
So with the downgrade on cutlass red having 1 bed now, you think the cutlass blue then will get 1 cell?
I wonder how the medical profession will actually work out ingame. What the devs expect and how it plays out can be very different sometimes...
Doesn't this ship come with respawn beds and the Cutlass Red does not?
Looks cool
It's an in-game ship once you have a full fleet compliment. It's not something under any circumstances you should but with real money. It's an optional extra for planet side fps missions to accompany drop ships. As this would be the most effective use case regardless of its range as as you said lack of weapons
a Shoilet?
Ha! That is a great one! I laughed here because of that name ^^
What happens to the drone when it gets left behind with a body in it. You know your going to have to haul ass out of a live combat zone to save your ship sometimes and that means the drones will be left wondering around aimlessly.
My favorite looking ship, too bad I won't fly it because I don't care for medical gameplay. Should have made a few models of this ship for other gameplay.
I went with the medivac variant, i think it just looks sexy and i've always been a more support player in alot of games anyway, like i heal in wow all the time, and in shooter games i just sit back and snipe all the time.
This looks like an Intrepid class ship, I love it!
same thing I said. whis it was the same size but that would make it the size of a jav
Coolest design ever :)
I think one tier 3 bed for the cutlass red might be a bit little. I mean fair that it only has tier 3 but at least give it 2-3 of those beds
Most ambulances I know only carry one person.
PH03NIX96 Ya but the cutlass is a bit bigger than an normal ambulance
yeah, but look at it this way--> it will sell a lot of Apollo's!
i. Mutt True... I dont see the big reason for the cutlass red
Cutlass Red NEEDS 2x medical beds...
From what they said, it didn't sound like a tier 2 or tier 1 bed could fix a tier 3 wound. That you'd need the appropriate tier to fix the appropriate wound.
If medical ship don't have 1 s3 shield, then it's just a great target
This ship could in theory be anything, it all depends on the modules equipped. e.g. Fast Freighter, Passenger Liner, Reconnaissance/ Scout, Info Runner/Courier, Science/ Expedition/Research/Lab, Cutter, Gunship, Light carrier (Dragonflys, etc). Heck, it could even drop a small base module like a mini-Pioneer. Flexibility that the Stella should have. Origin might be wise to consider a large modular center section on all its hulls. Does it fit in an Endy's landing bay? Thanks, good work STL.
Doughty it unless the endeavor grows
Didn't the old Cutlass Red hold two medi beds? It holds less now its bigger?
Andrew Stott it had two auto docks and four beds.
Shoilets are a real thing. Although the SC versions are way more compact.
Today I learned lol
In the RV industry, they are referred to as a "wet bath", and consist of a toilet in the shower of an RV. So, yes, they really do exist. :)
I’m pretty meh on RSI styling, but I really like this one
did an "upgrade" from a Vulcan
no regerts! :D
I traded my cutlass red and connie taurus for the medivac variant of this ship. I love it.
Wish it was in game by now
For obvious reasons I’ll be getting this and nicknaming it the meddy-vac thanks to you 🤣
Shoilets Rule!! Thanks STL!
They said it wasn't certain what size of bed the Cutty RED could have in RTV - unless that was said elsewhere, it doesn't seem like it's clear but we do know it only has one bed.
I just think its kind of underpowered and weird that the cutlass only can have one bed
They should make this into a small constellation type ship
I got the Triage variant. I choose speed and the hot red look over the Medevac variant. Seems like adding more peashooters to a medical skiff will only add a bigger target. Plus, a pilot may take foolish chances, thinking they could dogfight in it. Best to zip in, grab the patients, zoom out.
I figured the heavy armor was a better bet than the extra 20M/S difference in speed. Though I do like the red paint better. Maybe the paint job makes it go fasta? :D
LOL! I'll find out for ya!
Robert Schumacher in SCM mode it's only 20 m/s yes, but we don't know how big the difference in afterburner mode is. And some hundreds m/s could be enough to slip away.
^^^^
Frankly NOBODY should buy the Apollo until CIG tells us how much extra it is going to cost to get the tier 2 and 3 capabilities. If they're going to cost a hundred dollars each then you'd be an idiot to not get the Endeavour instead. In addition Cutlass Red buyers should be furious at what's been done for no reason but to force them to spend way more money. Cutlass Red buyers were sold a ship that was described as being able to get seriously wounded players back into action and were even with a smaller base chassis given a hangar ready version that had two advanced treatment beds and four lesser treatment beds. If CIG wants to have a simple single medical transport then either the Avenger or Reliant would make fine starting points. But they should deliver on what was promised in the hangar ready version of the Cutlass Red or nobody should trust them on any ship that's not already finished. And you should definitely produce a revised Should You Buy video on the Cutlass Red.
Cutlass Blue and Red still need their rework in line with the new Black. Personally im kind of hoping that those two can remove their specialty gear (prisoner cells and med beds respectively) to still carry cargo as an option, but i think CIG had been moving away from that sort of inter-variant modularity. So that hauler with med scanners for exploration or a stronger hull, weapons, etc to protect that cargo and better go toe to toe with ships like freelancers and connies -- may not materialize.
Im a bit sceptical about medical gameplay. Players can use medipens to patch themselves up on the fly. And laying on a table while you get worked on is not good gameplay, similar to being in a prisoner cell. And if a player just respawns and gets replaced by an npc for someone else to treat/transport, then what is the point of even being injured?
Im glad that other career option exists, im just not sure how its going to work gameplay-wise
I like it. Definitely a nice looking ship.
Not going to get one, but you know. Glad it exists.
The game still needs a lot more non-combat vessels implemented, honestly.
Yeah as someone who doesn’t really love combat I love ships like this and passenger transport ones, they just make the universe feel more real than like just having a billion fighters going at each other
My friend has a hope then i can use this ship as a big long range ambulance
Thx man
You got it!
No. Am just saying thx fore the update.. ☺
Yeah Youngblood, am thinking of getting that ship, Buying that ship with real dollars is slight out my reach right now, so unalike i will have to earn it.. The game seem might be a blast to get there to that stage in game grind. give me a self Achievement.
Wish they'd do additional variants of this hull design. There's no reason for this to be locked to having medical beds placed in it.
Would love to see a Science/exploration variant alike a bigger Reliant Sen
But is it worth losing the awesome red colour scheme (and an extra $27.50) for extra armour, missiles and ballistic turret guns?
ts25679 Very good qestion. This is exactly what I am struggling with. Don't need a ballistic weapon or missiles on a medic ship, but the additional armor might turn out as more useful than a little more speed and agility. However the red paint job looks soooo much better. Asking myself since days, which one I should go for...somebody having any additional ideas on this?
Haha, 5 years later and still no ship. I have this ship and realized that it doesn't really have weapons... barely any and they're not pilot controlled at all. The pilot should at least have a crapton of missiles or something. It sucks too much not having anything if you solo this.
I'm definitely putting some Furys in this or a small vehicle and a Fury. I hope there will be room.
Alright, where is the gunship version tho? XD
I am very impressed by both versions of the Apollo but it is not for me. I have a Cutlass Red for Search & Rescue (SAR) in my fleet which is the limit of my medical game play interest. And while there are a small number of Endeavor Hopes in the PMC I belong to as well as other Cutlass Reds, I don't know of anyone getting this vessel. I hope that changes as I can see it would work for smaller missions, such as convoy support, better than my Red would.
I would buy it, but only managed to finish one mission the last two weeks.. People just keep destroying ships at mission locations, even if I go unarmed lol.. So I don't see the point in this game just yet.
Concept
Legends of tomorrow
What if the RSI Apollo would look like as a time ship?
4 years later, still in concept... Yowza.
if only this ship wasn't 250€ :( A student like I am can't afford this stuff. It looks so cool and slick
What do you mean "new money only"?.. My first language is not a English so I never hear someone say that before
not store credit from trading in a ship you hand in hangar but instead with newly charged purchase at website
always great content. But, No, not going to buy it. Been a backer since 2014, and its looking like a more realistic release date being around 2020 or later.
Brian the Red I going for 2024. But that's because I can retire that year 😂
More like 2020 for SQ42 and 2025 for SC lol.
Tbh that's not a bad time timetable. 2018 is already half over. Quality takes time as you probably already know. I myself believe that 2020 is going to be the "BETA" phase of SC. Then a 2022 release. o7
Yes, 2020 is looking good for a beta. If we are lucky the beta could be in late 2019. CIG has been really picking up development speed so I'm pretty optimistic at the moment.
late 2019 for SQ42 beta in late 2020 like the Holiday stream timeframe, then release with only 10 systems in 2021 mid year. MARK MY WORDS!!!!
The medical drones look kind of like they hold a bed
Really wish this ship also had a lower turret
I'm not as worried about that, based on some decent speed, and decent armor on the medivac at least. That being said, I wouldn't go in too far alone.
Does an ambulance carry guns? Now pay them $200 for the right to boring gameplay that they will implement some year in the future.
still not out lol
Should have named it the RSI Abaddon
I just wish it had a bed for the pilot like the Cutlass Red has.
The two crew have living arrangements in the front section including beds.
@@ericwollaston5654 It does? Can you provide a link on the CIG site that says that? If so, I'll prolly CCU my Cutlass Red to one of these...
@@fredashay My daughter is graduating college today, apologies but I have no time or resources. There is a personnel lift, ejection beds like in the Constellation, bathroom, and food prep area. It's in the layout they show, and in the video Paul mentions it also. If I remember, will try to link later.
@@fredashay Just did a quick search for Apollo, on the Q&A page for it, the diagram, though not labeled, you can see the beds, lift, and the "shoilet", food prep, etc.
@@ericwollaston5654 Okay, thanks! :-)
i love the design of this ship, but im an explorer, wish i could module it better for my needs
This ship design seems to devalue the Cutlass Red, which only has one med bed and costs 1/2 of the Apollo price.
No my red in hanger has 2 auto docs and four beds. That why the remove them and went with one. And the real reason the red was not released in 3.2
You probably still have the not-yet-redesigned not flyable version in your hangar. Enjoy it as long as you can.
Dont Knowler yes. Because cig decide to wait on release the cutlass red. Know I now why so that hey could devalue it and release the Apollo
Still think that the biggest BS is the limited time insurance on ships and for sure on one that costs 250$!
Should I buy the RSI Apollo? Yes.
Shoilet! 😝😂😭💀
I want this so I can bill high and have a horrible bedside manner...Just like real healthcare.
Also it’s important to keep in mind that we DON’T have to buy it with real money... everything will be able to purchase in game
Candidly... this ship looks 9000 x better than the Connie looks.
Kinda depressing to imagine a 3rd Connie rework.
I feel like chris roberts imagination is his own downfall. “medical gameplay” sounds awful for both the medics and the patient. so say my ship blows up, I have to just WAIT floating around in space to be picked up, and then i have to just lay in a bed for 10-15 minutes doing absolutely nothing? thats not “gameplay” its bad design. and the medics basically just fly around looking for bodies to scoop up and ferry into various beds while the rest of the org gets to fly around and pewpew things..doesnt sound fun to me
Doubt.... im sure they will figure out something similar to bounty hunting-gameplay.
When a player character surrenders and gets cuffed (instead of killed) by a bounty hunter/police their body becomes an NPC and the player itself wakes up in the prison and begins the prison-gameplay immediately... the bounty hunter will still be able to turn in the living body for a reward instead of needing the actual criminal-player to stay cuffed all the time, this also prevents them from being griefed by those who just end up never turning in the person and keeping them in their ship-cells forever.
281 $ : / no
I think it'd be cool that if a player "dies" instead of respawning directly, it shows up as an available mission and you have to be retrieved by people with medical ships
Dax Zetina that sounds terrible. I don't want to have to wait god knowa how long for someone to do a mission just so I can respawn
Ornifex You're right, I can see that being a problem, maybe have it to where like if someone doesn't arrive within a minute and a half you respawn, or have it give you the option to wait if there are nearby ships and there being a slight advantage if you are saved rather than respawn
That would be cool, or maybe where a player dies an NPC is spawned in his place and the NPC is the subject of the mission created. That would make a good variety of medical missions and in big PvP fights there would be stuff for medics to do while players could respawn and hop back in if they want
Predicted the future
0:01 - No.
So you thought your cutlass red was going to give you the proper healing gameplay you wanted? Well sorry, you have to buy this now.
Yes, climbing the tier from entry level profession (Prospector, Vulture, Cutlass Red, etc.) to the next level is just part of the climb. Others will skip it by just buying the next level.
@@ericwollaston5654 Did you pay any money to skip the climb here? I'm pretty sure I have even older comments you could reply to.
@@DanyF02 Just was going back to look at old videos of the Apollo with medical gameplay hopefully coming later this year. I assume eventually, like mining, there will be a "step" at nearly every level between FPS to Capital ship for most professions, each possessing an improved or more efficient way of doing the mechanic compared to the ones below it.
@@ericwollaston5654 A capital medical ship, for when shit really hits the fan! lol
Edit: Huh to be fair, that would be en Endeavor.
so wtf we dont know anything about the cutless red which is out for ages and now they put a new ship in ....
TomTron they mentioned that they wanted to bring this concept ship in, in part, so they can flesh out the medical gameplay a bit more. That way they don't dig themselves into a hole by finishing the cutless red now, and then have to redo it again because the more in-depth medical gameplay was incompatible with a premature rework of the red. Though I'd gamble the cutless red still makes it in game a lot sooner than the Apollo.
Ryan Fortner really cause it was supose to be in 3.2 know I see why they did not they been planning this for while. That why they went from 2 auto docs and 4 beds to one bed likely tier 3.
the red should have easly 2 beds .... and once a gain they downgrade ships.
No...it costs over $200!....why would you?....
Guys shoul.. FUCK NOOOOOOOO!!!, your money's worth far more in your bank account spent at a LATER date when everything flushed out.
So the functionality of this kind of medical vehicles will be..... not any ¿?..
I mean come on, you are going to rescue a person in a planet that is ¿ hurt ? :/ really ? xd
Who is going to be hurt on this game and how. There is like lot of mechanics on this game that is like "ey we like all range of possible things but for real you are going to use 5% of them except pvp ships/trade. Ok................
We are going to spend 200 hundred for a ship that is going to safe player in 2022 when (maybe) the medical rescue mechanic will implemented (maybe) on this game (maybe), with real utility in the gameplay (maybe).
Really thanks Chris Roberts xD
This is, like every Origin ships, a RP ship. There will also be surely some PVE missions specially for it as well. Take the Origin ship line. VIP transport? name a player that cares about if it's a Jump or a Retaliator that comes pick him up? all will depend on RP and PVE missions
Well, I did not think about pve missions. Maybe on that case this can be "usefull"... somehow. Thanks for that point of view.
I will be dissapointed or with "it's fuc*ing nothing feeling" in anycase if this rescue/medical mechanic does not end up being implemented in the player versus player world.
Sir Pavon pvp damages people, so you'd need medics
Read their 'Death of a Spaceman' post to learn about how physically dangerous Star Citizen is going to be. It won't be like now, where you just take a medi-pen and your health bar goes back up. You will sustain injuries from combat and crashes that need to be treated. Or they don't go away.
Sir Pavon I’m definitely a believer in the star citizen dream, and I’ve spent a pretty penny as well, but that was the first thing that came to mind. Having so may in depth roles for useless aspects of the game will foster a care bare community.
The Apollo is completely useless as a t1 ship medically. Unlike the Endeavor which can summon the healed players ship the Apollo can not. So spawning on it or being healed there with no other ship to aid the players is pointless because they would be of no use to the rest of the fighting element. Now that I've said that. The Cutless red really got tossed since the creation of the Apollo and the Endevour is still highly needed to get the full effect of the red, Apollo, and Endeavor for fleet use. With all three you have a medical unit fully capable of substaining the casualties of combat. missing the Apollo and the reds are almost useless barely carrying any patients. Missing the red and the speed and ability to dock on the Endeavor is lost, and lastly with out the Endeavor the medical support is lost. This is a problem that CIG has just created in the medical field. Meanwhile there is still no medical ground vehicle in the game or a way to get patients from space into the bed on the Red. How will we transport them to the Endeavor or from a red to the Apollo?
I'm bothered by the guns and armor. Present day military evac units are unarmed to save weight, and because they are non-combat units. Putting guns on them would make them instant targets, and no enemy would respect the red crosses. I'd rather CIG remove the weapons, and create an armistice bubble around the Apollo.
peccatumDei that's a pretty solid recommendation. Injuries themselves are like timers so the focus could be around speed and skill.
Much like doing those ambulance runs in GTA
peccatumDei We do know that some players would not respect it. 😕
The Vanduul won't care, and neither will enemy factions who know these ships are going to heal enemy combatants and send them back into the field.
In online games people dont respect the non-combat unit rules of real life warfare. It was a game based decision. Your armistice bubble idea would be exploited to all hell.
RL there are countries that abuse the rules of war because they don’t care. They hide behind women and children, and their assets in schools and family communities. If CIG wants to do something... make the killing of an unaggressive apollo/cut red a hard hit to their security status or outlaw status.
“Should You Buy a Jpeg?”
why are you here?
@@jasonhannah7483 6 months ago? No idea, really. But you really shouldn’t buy jpegs.
