So here's the missile update...the brochure says 4 behring 322 racks...that is four total racks, with 3 (hardpoint size), 2 (missile size), 2 (missile count). That means 4 x 2 = 8 missiles at size 2 each...just don't buy it for the missiles until we know for sure lol.
Especially considering that missiles do literally 0hp damage if the enemy ships shields dont collapse completely after one missile hit. Which makes missiles pretty worthless as alpha strike weapons (if ships didnt have energy shields that regenerate, even a S1 missile would do persistant damage to the enemy, tug-of-war style wittling it down, this is why energy shields are dumb, they completely negate ALL damage from missiles and even torpedoes in some cases).
For example, the Hammerhead can withstand 6 torpedoes before the shields go down.
What does this mean? This means that two fully armed Eclipses deal a total whopping 0hp damage to their target after an ambush stealth attack. I mean i get that the Hammerhead is supposed to be strong, but ZERO hp damage?
It'd be better if it just had 3x the hitpoints but no shields, for all ships imo.. At least then everything would do SOME persistent important damage, not just utterly completely negated without consequence.
Vote for the removal of energy shields at your local Hurston Dynamics ballet office, today. xD
One thing I forgot to mention is the slide out component system for easy maintenance outside of the ship. Cool factor and convenience factor for sure.

I like the sound of the Khartu-al, and i hope this one as the same but louder, because is named after the Tokyai, the apex predator that is native to the Xi’an world Xi.
Love the look of this ship. Probably my favorite design in the game. I really hope they make more alien ships in the future. I love anything that looks weird.

I'm just glad they placed the cockpit in the middle. It's so annoying to fly/race the Khartu-al when you have a kilometer of ship above your head.
God, I love this ship. I don't love it enough to spend $220. But... It's an amazing looking ship in concept.

I agree for the most part, but this thing will have a medium shield generator. So maneuverability on par with the Khartu-al, similar loadout to a Sabre, and the shield of a Cutlass. I think it'll be solid, and it's certainly a better/cheaper option than the Vanduul Blade.
it looks like it should be pretty strong as a security ship for an asteroid base or something that has a lot of tight turns and places to dodge in and out off

I love my Saber so much. This is my favorite alien ship though as its just a slightly weaker, more agile Saber with what will be a very interesting flight model.
Also note that when comparing this fighter to the other ones, this ship has a medium sized shield so it may counter your concerns about sustainability.
I remember when this ship came out. I was very new to the game and the idea of ever owning a $200 ship, much less buying one straight up, was an impossible dream.

Youngblood I need ship buying help. I currently have a Avenger Stalker but plan to do no bounty hunting at all. I want to do security mainly along with cargo. What should I get for a budget of $150 including the value of the Stalker. I was thinking of the Anvil Arrow w/LTI and upgrading to the Titan Renegade or the Hull A.

I really hope that the lock on time for the the San'Tok.Yai's missiles is short because with all that maneuvering it'll probably be hard to to keep a lock or even get one in the first place. A short lock on time would complement the burst fire laser repeaters very well.
With high maneuvering you're supposed to be able to stay on target easily...
@@magniankh Don't you mean get back on target easily? Because if your on target then unless you have gimbal mounted weapons or a turret you are heading directly towards your target and that would make yourself an easy target for your enemy also! Better to be moving about constantly and only burst firing on your target when your cross hairs line up on target.
About the cross-section that people are worried about, remember that 3.5 FM means that human ships need to be oriented in specific ways to go in specific directions, which is not the case for Xi'An ships. Wth the new FM positioning becomes super important, and this ship relies on the pilot understanding this.
The front-facing cross-section s not going to be a problem the same way it already isn't when flying a Karthu'al (as long as you know how to fly it): you may be facing your oponent to bear your weapons on him, but he won't be able to keep you in sights or even see you.
The QA says it well, this is for furballs, not slugfests or BnZ; you're supposed to stay very close to the enemy and stay away from their line of fire.
Unrelated comment to the video, but about SC still:
Should I melt my Avenger down for store credit, and upgrade my Cutlass Black to a Prospector using the store credit and paying the difference with new cash? That would take away my owned combat ships, but I still have a Hornet as a loaner for another ship. If I did this I would have a Prospector, Starfarer, and Hornet to use until the BMM comes out in 50 years. It seems like Mining is the best way to make aUEC, and will likely be a good way to make UEC when the game comes out, is that accurate?
Do you think you will redo some of your old "Best Bounty hunting and etc" ship guides? Most of them are from 2.x with a few 3.x

on this vs the saber, I think the san tak yai will perform better in 0g no atmosphere but the sabre will perform better in atmosphere and gravity wells

I have the banu defender and my loan ship is the kartu all. Cool little ship, I hope they upgrade my loaner to this ship but I doubt it. I have merchant man too but they gave me a starfarer loaner, which I don't see how that is a ship on that's even on the same level. Oh well, flying my loaners waiting for my ships to be built. Hopefully take my banu out before my 94th birthday.
IMHO xi'an ships need stronger shields than other in the same category, their huge size are easy to hit. I'm in light fighters and at the moment I guess is better the Arrow than the Khartu-al. Also I prefer the Defender over the Santa K, price and PU usefulness wise.
@@axlandgamer3332 I came to the same realization of the shield problem after studying the designs of both the xi an ships and the banu line. It would seem that the human companies will have better ships than the other alien races. It does not add up though logically. The banu are a trader race and they have slaves so obviously their ships would be formidable or else the Vanduul or the humans would have conquered them already.

Honestly, I'm looking either at this or the Defender. And I'm not sure which.
On the Khar tu Al the main thrusters DONT spin around completely and you still have to relying on retro thrusters to slow down. Which is really stupid.
The weapons are highly gimballed (bigger arcs than normal), not fixed. You cannot replace the gimballed though. It's basically better than the sabre in every way. They also don't overheat.
Interesting concept but think a none combat ship or finishing up one of the none finished (defender) ships instead.
How many space coins is it? I don't spend real cash on ships.
I think this ship is one of the best ships out there for the best skilled players. It's one of those that have a high skill floor and high skill ceiling. The thing I think you're missing is that it has 4 fuel intakes. Four. Where most ships have one or two and some even have zero, this ship has four. It can refill it's boost twice as fast and as much as a sabre.
My prediction is that the best way to use this is with something like trackIR and gimballed weaponry. Yes you do a lot of damage, but the point of is to use the ship's maneuverability to it's strengths. You win by playing to your strengths. If you sacrifice a your ability to move to get a shot, you're weakening yourself. Overall, this is a more difficult way to play, but as stated, this will be a high skill floor and ceiling ship.
For the average gamer though, I agree with you. This is should not be a recommended ship for the reasons you said. But for anyone able to take advantage of that much boost and maneuverability, it's going to be a very scary ship to fight against.
They have basically said that they will be removing all fuel scoops from military fighters for "balance reasons"...
I'm doubtful on if we will actually see those fuel scoops.

Dang STL its been ages since we played SC together! I still pop onto the verse every so often and have a medium collection of ships but these new ones just don peak my interest anymore. I am more interested in game developement and adding of new game dynamics.
One thing you kinda forgot to mention is that it actually has a medium shield generator, similar to the Drake Cutlass (except the Red?), while the other fighters feature 2 Small ones.
However, we do already have a Fighter with almost identical stats: the Banu Defender also has a medium shield generator, 4x S2 Gimballed (= S3 fixed) Weapons with some missiles.
Personally however, I kinda feel like the usual fighters will be quite a let down once the game allows actual progress, since most non-combat ships have reasonable weaponry I'd expect players to fly in convoy, just like you'd play in a party in MMORPGs (at least in more dangerous areas), rather than pay fighter escorts and compromise the route for refueling stops.
Also, if you're in any kind of Fighter, you might go trough character creation quite a few times... I didn't log in recently, but keep in mind even a Constellation already comes with 4x S4 (Gimballed) in stock loadout and in larger scale battles there's no real way to avoid taking some shots.
At this point the connie andromeda is going to be a easy target even when it's fully mounted or other ships with insufficient mobility. The new flying mechanic makes fast strafing ships almost impossible to defend. The missilecount is ridiculous for a fighter so I think it is typo

right with yah. I have the Kart and debating changing my Sabre. But since motion is the Xi'an's main advantage, I don't see reducing it for weapons helping that much. That being said, im sure it'll be a fun ship

What about the banu defender though? Everyone keeps comparing the hornet and the saber but from what i can tell, the defender has 4 size 3 and missiles like the saber and santokyai but it was said the defender has lighter armor meaning its faster but has a stronger shield to help balance that weakness plus the defender has larger fuel tanks and beds. I know the visibility may be poor but why no love?
That's because the Hornet and Sabre are already in game. We have seen what they can do thus far and have an actual comparison. The Defender is a ship still in concept that CIG has admitted will most likely see a rework for that visibility improvement.The defender also is not as much of a dedicated fighter like the santokyai, sabre, and hornet. Hence, why it has beds, larger fuel tanks, and requires two people.
Yeah i suppose you are right on the money when it comes to what we have in game to compair. I am keen to see the fighters in game with the new flight model comes. CIG have even stated that in a fight between a Hornet, Saber and Defender, the most skilled pilot would win. I dont own one but just think the defender is a very under looked ship. It does not require two people btw. It just has the second seat because of the Banu culture
The Defender has Ultra Long range Sniper wep no other race has should be interesting.
The Defender visibility problem can easily be fixed they said. It as a lighter armor, but Tevarin shields, Xi'An thrusters, Banu unique design and Banu Tachyon long range and high damage weapons. 4 S3 canons, 4 missiles (S3 or S2 I can't remember). That's a pretty solid choice vs the San'Tok'Yai. Imo, the Xi'An ships are wayyyy overpriced especially the Khartu-al, it's a useless ship which doesn't even have ejection seats.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned before but anyway, I think the effect of the new flight model will have serious implications for this ship. Might need revisiting at that point as I believe we're going to lose the human ship strafe ability quite significantly with the new model. May serve to enhance the ability of the 'more advanced' xi'ian ships??

I could definitely see this with 4 neutron canons , harassing poor fighters which do not have the manoeuverability to outpace this little beauty before it finds their sweet spot and one shots the crap out of them .

A lot of people do the mistake, Khartu-al are not the Qhire Khartu.

SQ42 is oriented towards combat and will be released prior to SC. CIG needs all combat ships ready from all alien races ASAP.
