Derelict BMMs are going to be straight up out of a movie.
a ALIEN movie ...
with the AI catching up, imagine bmm derelicts with aliens in them bringing a horror theme and possible tributes to Aliens vs Predators or just Dead Space.
@@cryonim imagine ...
Which one? One with Leonardo DiCaprio or one with Sigourney Weaver? Both would work.
Fly there in a Carrack for the full Alien experience.
That BMM is going to be great for single player box missions!
One box and 1000 guards guarding the box do fit into that hangar bay.
Yeah, it will be perfect if you put drake cutlass in hangar bay with mule inside it, so you can do some matryoshka moves while reaching for that box!
@@lasker78 dont forget to put the box on drake mule
@@oO0Xenos0Oo Don't forget to put all 1000 guards each in a box to have the surprise effect on your side.
It's gona be fun every time you forgot where you put that one box and the mission timer expires before you even find it 🤣
"She might not look like much just yet"
Dude, even mostly untextured. That ships looks incredible.
That textured key area (artist style/aesthetic guide) is already amazing!
Yea it looks amazing already. Glad got one last night or might quit game haha.
Bring all your loot back and sell it.
Those textures must take forever to make
I have to say...i like the "party style" of the BMM more than the "formal style" of the 890J.
And i have plenty more cargo space for food and drink.
Don’t care we want SQ42 already
Phew! they got rid of the flappy wings on the BMM and replaced them with sleek extenders. Great work all involved, looks awesome!
this video could have been 30 seconds long and just have that and i would have been happy
Looks cool, minus it having a med bay. Literally zero reason for a merchant ship to have a med bay. So sick of CIG trying to put a rover and a med bay in everything.
It looks better with the wings retracted than it does with the wings extended
@@jasonfrost5025 I don’t think I’d want to live and work on a ship where they’d have to fly me to the nearest planet for medical attention if I break something falling down the stairs.
@@Anonymous-wk1jt “if” no no you mean when!
Omg the new wing system is amazing... the interior is perfect, the pilot seat I'd what I dreamed of.. I'm so glad I own this ship!! Amazing job CIG
hi how you own the sihp
@@Mr.Cool628 You buy it, but it costs 600$.

Yeah great an the Mechanics for this Ship than 2032? Maybe?
And yet again, just when I thought star citizen couldn't blow my mind any more than it already has... They do it again.
My god, I cannot wait to step onto my Merchantman after what will end up more than 9 years waiting! Even at this stage it's gorgeous!
wow 9 years - I just upgraded my C2 into a merchantman today :) - will be legendary

Banu Homer: "Our Merchantman"
Maybe one more cycle around the sun and it's ours🤞
(Trying to channel my excitement into patience)
My jaw repeatedly was dropped. I kept trying to see scale to see it as grand interiors because it's a Banu ship so I liked when they pointed out a couple things specifically. That cargo hold was REALLY impressive and loving the detail each area has been getting from the bridge, topside turret, meeting room, rec room, crew quarters, and more. Well done!
Time to load and unload that cargo hold approx. 16 hours, lol.
@@GUNNER67akaKelt only 16? lol
@@Reurbo 😂
My mind refused to understand the scale and scope of the ship in this video. I will have to walk around it in game for five hours in solitude to understand what is happening here.
@@coleepley8985 And people wonder why Star Citizen is taking so long, yeah we ships so big and detailed where the size of some rooms of full game maps. UT99 23 years ago had maps the size of these rooms in the BMM.
I just love this ship! Please CIG let the complementary gameplay be just as awesome
Yeah, I want to see "Shop Owner" as a proper career instead of just a sub-type of "Merchant/Trader".... and it would also be pretty cool if we as BMM owners could be able to negotiate franchise/licensing deals with big Luxury Brands so that they'd send one of their NPC Vendors to man one of our stores!
Man, the Merchantman is looking amazing! Can't wait to walk through it when it's finished. I have a spare I'll leave parked outside the Commons at New Babbage for a few weeks when it's out. It was great to see Chris and Sandi in LA this past weekend. I flew down from Seattle for my first Bar Citizen, and I was not disappointed. Shoutout to everyone who made me feel like part of the family, inviting me into your literal homes, and hanging out with me after the even was over. It is an experience I'll never forget! Star Citizen seriously has the best community in gaming, from the devs to the fans.
Park it on the pad by the commons and you are going to need to form a que to take the tour.
what a great experience you had cherish it!
@@SIXITHS nahh, explore at your leisure. Donations will be gladly accepted, though.
What star citizen is doing for gaming is blowing my mind. For the last 25 years I've watched the gaming space evolve and this game truly will be the best personal computer game ever created. The fidelity is phenomenal. I hope the rest of the systems tie together as well as the aesthetic design. Well done team!
The real test will be fauna, getting their animations and physics working properly is what will make or "break" this game
I hope my kids will be able to see it one day
lmao this game is nothing but hot trash. 50 player cap mmo, zero gameplay loops, multiple broken promises of release. cig is a theranos of gaming
@@rapgod9447 that's because they're still making it, "trash" is a subjective term based on your feelings, which are irrelevant, have you made a better game, or show us one?
@@MK-ty3rh my son is 10 now backed this 10 years ago still waiting for squadron 42
Would have been cute to see the wing tips flip up a lil bit when landed as a callback to original concepts, but so much happier with this wing retraction setup over just folding them. Very Banu, very good!!
Is it just me, or would it be even better if the wings were no longer than the retracted wings shown. No need to extend them, they're just fine as they are, all folded up.
@@sethreardon8805 They only have 4 guns on the wings. IIRC, 4 point defense guns on the wings. 2 on top, 2 on the bottom. No need for more wing, especially when they aren't necessary. The ship is plenty wide enough without extended 'wings'.
@@GUNNER67akaKelt the extended wings are needed for lift in atmospheric flight
@@GUNNER67akaKelt yeah no, it needs the wings
@@alexparris7769 False! Everything else on that ship levitates without wings because "alien tech" but suddenly wings are needed for lift?
The journey that is the development of this ship is a proof of the deep relationship CIG has been able to create with the community. I am absolutely thrilled to see the development of the game and proud of being part of its community. Thank you Disco for being such a significative piece in this whole story.
Jared said that this episode would be worth waiting for, and he told no word of a lie.
Amazing work!
It was lame. Wasted a whole episode on a ship for people to waste hundreds of dollars on. I want to see game progression, not more money making.
@@OneTwoMark I see where you're coming from, but consider this:
The ship represents the catalyst for new gameplay loops (player-run shops and selling) and improvement of existing ones (such as cargo hauling in the crane system present in the cargo hold). Furthermore, it also greatly progresses the artstyle and lore of the Banu race, which wil have wide reaching impacts on the game world later down the line.
Oh, and don't forget, you will be able to purchase this vessel in-game! It's easy to forget this sometimes.
@@cytokynesys What I’m tired of seeing though is ships releasing with all these apparent new features, then they release the ship but it has none of the new features “yet”. Scanning, refining etc. This one will be no different. So I want to see the mechanics on that stuff actually finalised.
This furthers game development how?
The artists and developers really outdid themselves here. Really impressive work! Wow!
Please add a centerpeace (maybe holographic fire) to the crew sleeping room so that we can gather around a unifying Element.
Love the Ship!
Like a hookah maybe? Banu seem like the type to enjoy some relaxing smoke while chilling.
@@RaneKaiser16 the weird room with the starsand the pool seems exactly the place for that, just add some smoke effects too.
a slightly raised platform for space strippers.
@@xilix2770 lmao they should add looped emotes get the female characters to strip and emote for entertainment 😂
With persistence, you'll be able to add your own centrepiece. A hookah, a holographic fire, a dance pole, it's up to you!
Man... there is going to be allot of these on day 1 flying around.
yes, 50 per server
In 2078.
Looking forward to the BMM so much - its the ship that got me into Star Citizen. Great walkthrough and conversation.
Wow! It's amazing to see what more than twice the time it takes to build an actual aircraft carrier does for virtual spaceship design! Keep up the good work, guys!
Lol
Aircraft carriers aren't built by 10 people.
@OrangeWinchester Saying they only got this far in over a decade because "only 10 people" were working on it isn't a strong defense, my guy. Lol
Just upgraded to a Merchantman. Great work so far guys. Looking forward to progress from you!!
So happy to see the BMM again. Like an old friend you haven't talked to in years. Worth every minute watching. Keep up the great work!
Holy 22 minute Inside Star Citizen! I love it.
WoW, whole ship looks like Colani designed it - looks fantastic.
And the towering cargo (hold) was awe-inspiring.
Can't wait to see it in the 'verse.
Gone too soon. RIP massive angel 💔🕊
Great timing, I was just looking for this vid.
Love the sentry gun on the bazaar ceiling. No one shoplifts from the Banu.
I absolutely love how much character was poured into this ship. The philosophy and lifestyle of the Banu is very well communicated through its design and the architecture really displays a sense of elegance, sophistication and intellectualism that is key to their culture. Can't wait to own and fly this mobile trade market. So well done.
This is insane! Absolutely blown away and can't wait to see what else the future of Star Citizen holds!
I bought this ship 9 years ago. Not sure I need or even want it anymore tbh but hey, it's nice to see it finally make it to grey box.
Hold onto it for another year and you may even be able to fly it! Jokes aside it's still looks sick.
It's finally been a decade since we bought the jpeg and now we get a CGI inside look. Good to see my hundreds in use.
On the backburner now 😂
Knew it was too good to be true… you heard?
And then you paused it... what a shame
This is why i love the S.C. its not just a game its a universe, with culture and design. A deep rich universe! these ships are an example of the level of depth we'll get with the rest of the game :)
With literally 5 things to do, i hate when videos like this come out of another cool but useless ship! How about some more missions/events & armor instead of a expensive ship this is where CIG loses me for a while! Armor would not be hard to do but we have had the same armor for years just recolored! The planet towns are going to add a lot for me if its good but if they are dead like most cities whats the point?
@@patientmental875 i appreciate your frustration. I dont see this as a waste of time, just an update on one of the many aspects of the game.
They have hundreds of employees working on every aspect, some just take more work to make significant progress. Until that progress is made im happy to be shown other things rather than nothing until its all done.
The Banu Merchantman crew quarters reminds me of a Viking roundhouse where tales and adventures are retold around a central fire. Looks great
Love the length of the ISC! Thanks for that guys!
For a new player starting at 3.16 this game just gets more and more awesome 👌
This is true. That is part of what makes Star Citizen so unique in the video game industry and what makes it as special as it is.
Welcome to the verse
Welcome to the scam
I see the Banu are very communal, indeed. The "social area" seems a bit like a "very social pit"... Very communal. Very much. I like their style. If Hugh Hefner was alive in 2952, this would be his ship of choice. A gentleman's pick, truly.
In Space, no one hears you scream.
This was just amazing! Great quality grey box - love the detail! Stunning job !
Finally! After years waiting, I can finally see the inside of my BMM! Awesome!
Nailing the aesthetics of the interior. This is a ship that’s big enough to have some open space, and I am glad they are taking advantage of that.
That said, the exterior looks like a modern household appliance. I hope some more of the mystique and scale of the original concept makes it in.
The bridge turret room IMHO should be a holographic room so instead of actually sitting in the seat and having the seat move up and out of the ship into the turret I would rather it stay still but the entire room turns into a massive video monitor type of look but more holographic view of what the turret is looking at. That would be amazing. It just seems like a waste of an opportunity to do something more outside the realm of what's in game so far.
That would be cool to have in another ship in the future. Doesn’t have to be the BMM.
I'd like to see it like the Tavaran interiors, where all the panels are monitors. But that's me.
It might very well become hollographic room , fingers crossed
maybe both? holo as safer option but oh you got EMP bombed suddenly holo not working manual over ride and then rise up and see physical view.
@@PerfectCode The extremally large ships should have holographic turrets IMO. Even some exotic two man fighters.
Looking good! Thanks for giving us a peak. I appreciate it.
Own it today without knowing much of that ship but I had the feeling that it's was the ship I ever wanted him to be like
The ship team is killing it right now! Great job keep up the good work :)
More videos like this please!
Magnificent and majestic! Amazing work and cannot wait to see the final product
Looking Good! Thank you Devs for all the hard work.
Probably the best purchase I've ever made. I'm so excited to fly, and trade with the BM! Excellent touches on the heal pools and I absolutely love the market area. Major props on the wings folding inwards instead of the Arrow flip up in previous art that was my main concern. Only thing I wish CIG would give more thought to is that big turret on top. Having an air shield as the only barrier preventing players from slipping into a room right next to the pilot crew is very concerning and I would hope for some additional door that closes below the turret once it's fully deployed.
What will you do with this ship when it’s available in game?
@@michaelvasconcelos1788 hauling massive amounts of cargo
@@michaelvasconcelos1788 most likely will release with or after cargo refactor, meaning cargo time baby
@@michaelvasconcelos1788 Trade cargo like I currently am with my loaner C2, do ERT missions like I've been doing with peoples Carracks, finally have a ship with a landing bay to carry my Defender or Saber, definitely show it off as much as I can to all my friends and new players, role-play to my hearts content chilling in the crew room. Play tetris with the tractor arm after the cargo system rework... which might honestly come same time. Hmmm what else... Trade, Kill, RolePlay, Show-off, Mess Around... oh how about use it as a respawn point like all my Carrack and 890 friends. Could take it to Bunkers easy. Transport other players ships. And this is just using the hull without any of the promised functionality such as the market.
I think that it might be hard to sneak in through it since it would be a considerable fall to the ground.
Definitely has a living ship vibe as in the TV series Farscape. I love the alien feel, my favourite ship so far.
Please keep doing these types of concept walkthroughs, I know it's still early in it's design / development process but so far it's a home run. The Merchant Man is becoming exactly what I hoped it would be, thank you guys.
The Banu are my favorite too. Life long traders, piecing together ships from the best of all the races of the Verse, and their star systems have a ridiculous amount of tropical and visually stunning planets.
Love seeing the BMM progress so far. Keep up the great work CIG.
Loving seeing the Merchantman progress, exciting ship & love staff showing their pasion for alien races!
Please get this ship done, at least it's first version. We've now been waiting 1 1/2 years since we had the last update on it. Thank you CIG.
1 1/2? My man, the Kickstarter's stretch goal that promised this ship was hit in 2013.
If you had her, you wouldn't know what to do with her
This is so interesting. Been anticipating this forever.
It's this perfect blend of art and logic
Thank you! It is really nice to see a ship in the process. Greybox, whitebox, any box, it's nice to see ships that have been pledge for are in the works.
Incredible. Please consider the pilot seat and the view, as ideally, you want to see the entire front section for such a large ship when manoeuvring (think yachts or cargo ships, cruise liners) Also, the glass seems convexed and very close to the player's head - worried about glare and reflections. The front seat/view could be a great role for a player to fulfil if they could see out and ahead to guide the pilot- shame there's a big beam there. Given most players will spend 90% of the time piloting, please factor these things into the process, it's not just about what looks pretty. Thanks, everyone, what an achievement by the two artists and Creative Directors.
ok this reminds me strongly of the Goa'uld ships from stargate
Now that you mention it...yeah.
Lovely to see how Discolando's face lights up just as mine does when cool alien stuff is shown
Man, I have made it 7 years not buying the BMM ... let the melting commence! Great video! I wish all of them were 20+ minutes!
THANK YOU FOR MERCHANTMAN UPDATE
Man, this is amazing. Really cannot wait to see how these ships keep progressing. Both redeemer and scorpius were great, the last two ships I am waiting for on my purchases are BMM and Polaris. This makes me even more excited to see how the Polaris comes to fruit whenever it is, I am def patient when the quality is this good
The Redeemer has quite a lot of uglyness, before we even start talking about how its one of the most broken ships in the game since its inception and still now.
@@canniballistic555 thats your opinion
@@Hafizul12 Well its a very large collective opinion, and also some things like the contrast in design between the tops smooth curved lines but the bottoms very square lines, is an example of objectively breaking the rules of design, a rule for making things not look ugly, consistency.
The technical issues are definitely not opinion lol, most broken ship in the game.
@@canniballistic555 so they should get every ship perfect right out of the gate? How do they do that when core pillars of the game are yet to be implemented ?

SHAME.
Really enjoyed the more laid-back approach on this one. Completely dedicated to a single topic like a slightly edited SC live.
I can't wait to see what this looks like when the materials and shaders are in. The wing-shortening system is elegant as well, to say the least! Thank you for the update, Disco!
No one seems to have mentioned this, but there's a S1(?) turret hanging over the marketplace - very cool to see interior defenses like that, and I hope we get more ships with interior turrets!
Also, is it just me, or do the crew bunk nooks look like a bunch of... y'know. Especially with the little light near the top...
vulvic? i'll have to rewatch !
We need an inside of the kracken too
No shade intended toward the BMM or its owners, but I honestly don't really about it that much.
But I'm chomping at the bit to see any more info on the Kraken.
Kraken isn't even in development atm
This ship is shaping up to be well worth the wait. Very well done!
WOW, that ship is a beauty, cant wait to see it in game :) really nice work so far
I knew the BMM was a big ship, but to see the ceiling space in that cargo bay which looked taller then most ships currently in game. And to think there is more floors above that, Its beyond massive. can't wait.
Yup - and the shape of the lift entrance / tube really reinforced that 'cathedral' feeling :D
Wouldn't surprise me if you could fit a reclaimer in that cargo hold. That space is MASSIVE.
Most big ships are long, flat and slim. The merchantman is really bulky in comparison, which will increase the interiour space enormously.
@SilentLeonidas only, 20m.... That's like a 7 story building higher.
@SilentLeonidas 5 meters shorter
I really like this kind of ship preview. With the devs walking us through all the different areas.

I absolutely love the kind of Cerebro vibes you get from the top turret room. Really awesome/interesting choice.
I’m totally calling those goo beds bacta tanks now
Would be nice to see a different style of weapons specific to species. like aliens having more of photon missles kind of style, lasers styles. Implosion style missles. or emp style. even a nanobotic style ship would be cool. No missles and small laser cannons but opens doors in certain spots to unleash a cloud or small cluster of drones that help defend the ship within a radius
Great work, looks amazing. can't wait to have my hands on it.
And exactly one year later we cry at the latest announcement regarding the Banu Merchantman 😭💔
