    Thank you for your recommendation and detail guide. I was able to install same head unit on my 2018 STi. One different thing I figured is my car has Starlink. I end up ordered a Starlink bypass from Autoharnesshouse to resolve the issue of front speaker no sound due to remove the Starlink telematics. Great video! Appreciated!

    This is my first stereo install so sorry if this is really dumb to ask I just want to make sure. On the connector to the stereo, do you just match color to color and connect those wires? I’m assuming so but the parking break wire is red on my wiring harness and the one on the stereo connector is green. Both are labeled just wanted to ask

    • @leugarage6327
      @leugarage6327  3 роки тому

      Hey, no it's a good question. Normally you would just match the colors but sometimes manufactures change the colors of the wires based on what they have available. I would just match the wires based on the wiring diagram or labels on the harnesses.

    Hey this was a really helpful video. However my Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX has weird little screw holes non threaded and both the factory and the Scosche screws don't fit into the side of the head unit. Even without the brackets as I am just trying to thread in a screw at this point. Any ideas?

    • @leugarage6327
      @leugarage6327  3 роки тому +1

      Hey, try a different hole, I had issues at first with some of the mounting points but got it to screw in perfectly eventually. If that doesn't work you will have the hard task of looking for stereo screws that fit. Some holes are mean for short pointy screws and some take the regular short flat bottom screws.

    • @yamaha12515
      @yamaha12515 3 роки тому

      Yup I found the more coarse thread screws that came with the Pioneer unit. They fit and I did have to try a few holes as well for best fitment. Of course the factory and scosche screws were a finer thread pitch. I finished the install Sunday and love this pioneer Thanks!

      Hey, this is technically a non nav unit but I didn't cut the wire, what you se in the video is exactly what I did. It was 100% plug and play. I've had the unit in for a few months now with zero issues. The additional wiring instructions from what I read was for other cars but I could be wrong as it's been a while and I don't have the instructions any more. If you are putting this radio into a wrx like me then I would not cut the wire. Worst case if it acts up then you know to cut the wire. Definitely test the unit before you put everything back together to save time.

      Hey, this install is for the 2015-2020 subaru wrx. Not sure what adapters you would need to get the back up camera to work on a Camry. You are correct, if you dont want steering wheel controls then you won't need any steering wheel control adapters which will save you about 50 bucks. Depending on the year and make of your car you can just get get the factory stereo adapters which are about 10 bucks each. Best bet would be to go on Crutchfield.com, enter the car you have and what radio you want to install and they will tell you what adapters you need. If you buy the radio from them or sonic electronics, they typically throw those in for free.

    • @leugarage6327
      @leugarage6327  3 роки тому

      Hey, only if you are buying a non android stereo. If you are buying one of the normal traditional stereos like Pioneer, Sony, JVC, Dual, etc. You will need a steering wheel control adapter to get the steering wheel controls to work. The idata link one I use has been great and never had an issue so far. I have used the PAC and Axxess ones in the past and they act up after a while. All cost about $50 ish. If you don't care about using your steering wheel controls then you don't have to get it. Also if you buy a android radio, the steering wheel controls are already built into the unit so you don't need to buy an adapter. You just need to do some research on the stereo to see what additional parts are required for certain things to work. Also, if you buy the idatalink, you need to make sure that the stereo is idatalink compatible.

Just wondering as I have a 2019 premium as well with stock head unit w/STARLINK no harmon kardon. That is correct 👌, I connected the factory wiring to the Pioneer head unit cause that still controls the tweeters for now (and I didn't want to cut any wiring). I replaced both front and rear speakers as they are horrible and can't take any power. When I installed the new Kicker speakers, I just ran my own speaker wires to the trunk where I have my amp. Then I ran rca cables from the headunit to the amp. If you plan on running a amp, I highly suggest you change out the speakers as the amp will just show how weak the factory non Harmon kardon speakers are.

      Yes sir, I used the external Mic it came with. You will not be able to reuse your factory Mic.

    • @leugarage6327
      @leugarage6327  2 роки тому

      Hey, couple questions, are you installing the same radio as I did and did you buy the exact harnesses I had linked? Is this going into a non Harmon kardon wrx? If yes to all these questions then it sounds like an issue with the harness...check to make sure none of the pins are bent on the harness connectors, also check the sound options on the stereo to make sure the fade settings is in the middle and it's not fading all of the music to the rear

    Do you need to connect a bypass on it

    • @leugarage6327
      @leugarage6327  3 роки тому

      Hey, all that was needed is what I have linked in the description. But if you are talking about the bypass so you can watch video when the car is moving, you will need one for sure.
