Great video mate! I wish it was this simple on my car... I have the premium Australian version with the harman kardon speakers and amp... made it so much harder. I also made a video, but explained how I got around the factory amp!
... Nice video. But, I think an active line converter like the AudioControl LC2i or LC7i is a better way to go because they do all the corrections. Best part, no extra harnesses or plethora of wires, or other trim panels. That's a lot of work to gain an EQ. Sound deadening the doors will also help; but overall, the WRX is a horrible sound stage, even with the 10 speaker HK system.
I really didn’t want to go the aftermarket route because I simply like the clean look of the factory head-unit and having the Harman Kardon, the sound was good. Unfortunately I’m on my 2nd head-unit on my 19 sti and it’s constantly shutting on/off in a cycle and will do so for upwards of 45 mins until the whole screen goes black/blank but the soft keys are still lit up and it will kill the battery. At this point I’m over it. I’ve looked into some of the fitted head-units like SYGAV and seicane, although they have a nice fitted look, I feel those lack in quality. I think this may be the best route with a nice pioneer or Kenwood double din. Thanks for sharing.
Hello there! For the CD door, you stated that you put washers on the top bolts. How did that help with the door? Would rather do that than sand the trim kit down. Thank you!
TheRockHardMan Thanks man. Not because of a ticket but a peace of mind without worrying about getting pull over. I will put it back on later this year since the heat is dying down. I’m not tuned yet. Just wanted to break in the car first.
Great tutorial. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a stereo upgrade soon. I'd like to get at the USB/AUX outlets like you did. How did you remove the center console?
@@SimplyMod85 That's all? The cars with the manual handbrake have a screw hidden under the brake boot. So consoles with the electronic brake just have the two screws in the box? Thanks for the response, btw.
So I studied you video for my 15’ Crosstrek and I noticed after installing the Pioneer 2660 NEX it worked fine but I would sometimes get a quick pop sound from the speakers after turning the car off and opening my door. You think grounding the Factory Head a unit ground would fix that?
I'm about to install mine here soon. Got all the stuff from auto harness as well. However my maestro. I dont have Harmon kardon but with my 2018 the maestro site didnt give me the option to do "without amplifier" for the 2018 flash. I flashed a 2017 type "without amplifier" hoping itll just give me the steering wheel controls that I need. If you know something about that let me know please ! P.s. sounds good 😊
@@SimplyMod85 So after cancelling my Starlink Subscription, the Red light is gone now.....I have one thing to double check as my Blind Spot Monitoring is not working so need to make sure that the Pink wire wasn't for that....or maybe I just did not plug the connection back.
@@maronsamuel8523 hmm.. I'm not sure since I don't have blind-spot monitoring. I don't think the blind spot monitoring and the eye sight is connected to the headunit.
Hey man I have a question, do you have the part number for the bezels for the stock HU/Climate controls? I scratched mine badly and wanted to replace those.
The stock radio is like 10 watts per channel. Most aftermarket radios are 40-50. The stock one will never sound better then aftermarket. I have the same radio in my car. Your phones speakers sound better then this radio.
@@aredd92 Yes you are correct, but after two weeks with my pioneer unit, and stock speakers for a few more days. Its night and day. not really in clarity. More so in volume and sound. Even with the crappy stock speakers. I now have lows, and mids. The oem radio never had that. I also have a 3in exhaust on my car. The aftermarket radio at 10 outa 50 is louder. Then the oem one maxed out, but I expect that when. You have 2 times the rms power, and around 4 times the peak rms.
thanks for this video....i just installed everything and its working good
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I am about to start this today on my 2017 WRX base.
Did you get the radio antena to work.
@@camiloguzman2441 Yep. Everything was plug and play.
i know it is quite off topic but do anybody know a good website to watch new tv shows online?

Super helpful video for removing stock stereo - thanks!

Yup, can’t make a GT experience with a rowdy sports car.
Does anyone know if the maestro sw is a compatible substitute for the maestro RR? & what the differences are between them?
Nice video. The custom audio setup is such crap! Sounds so muddy!

Do u have the OEM head unit still , is it compatible with HK sytem, I would buy it from you
Still have it but not sure if it is compatible with HK system
what about the rear camera ?

Sounds a lot better. Great review! I saw on your ig that you put the stock mufflers back on. Was that because of a ticket? Btw are you tuned?

There’s a couple of screws holding the center console.

Do you have a link to the specific 28 pin hardness from auto harness house that I need, I can’t seem to find the right one.

Could be a bad ground, but try grounding it and see if it fixes the issue
Thanks for the tutorial. You selling your stock radio? I'd love to upgrade to Android auto, I have a 2018.
john venet I don’t think they can be straight swaps.

Michael Petrosky for the 2019 there is an option to select without amp. So I think you can use the 2019.
What pioneer head unit is this?
AVH-4200 nex
wtf exactly is starlink
did you ever get the harness for that one wire to change the Starlink from red to green?
Unfortunately I did not since I don’t need starlink.

julio miranda still have it. Make sure you know how to install it. Had a few people saying wiring is different.
Your car is 2019 wrx limited with Harman kardon?
nope, just limited without the HK.
Is that the idatalink RR?
It’s the idatalink maestro sw but you can use the RR. I think RR has more features
