Bro they are so right when they talked about the sound quality difference. I just install my pioneer HU on my 15’ Crosstrek XV after putting on new S series 6.5 alpine co axle speakers and it brought them to life and hits hard with crisp highs so worth it and so pleased with Pioneer.
Love the car play messages...that was awesome. Your audio setup is awesome. Good job bro 👍🏼👍🏼💯💯
Finally someone using the Bluetooth buttons to show if they work. Every persons video never show that. Thanks for the great video!
Nice touch with the car play message 😎👍🏻. Looks good, I'm looking to upgrade mine as well soon.
Best upgrade I have done so far
Love it!!!!
You can splice in the plug of the Maestro OBDII i did it on one of my old rigs. And still used a programmer. If you give your backup camera a keyed positive you can also access it anytime not just when in reverse. Pioneer really does make some of the best AVH and DMH receivers. Alot of the competitors have gone to measly 2V preamp outputs that I absolutely hate and a mono RCA for the subwoofer pre-outs. Really all that these lower end unit are missing is a higher resolution screen and an HDMI in for video.
Does the unit support 2 finger pinch zoom on apple maps/google maps?
Where u got the subwoofer box
?
Does the Maestro allow mapping of the forward and backward buttons? The module I chose seems to be unable to map those 2 buttons
can you use the sat radio with this receiver and star link ?
Hey was wondering where u got the plastic trim that goes around the radio for the new one I noticed when you installed the new head unit for the radio you changed the trim plate was wondering where I could get one
Great setup - unit looks very nice. Do you have the Maestro/iDatalink setup on it also to see the health of the car (air pressure, oil levels, etc.)?
He doesn't he explained that in the install vid
I have the Pioneer DMH-1500NEX model hooked up with the Maestro/iDatalink in my Toyota Corolla LE 2015. I noticed it was a little slow with turning up and down the volume with it all hooked up. I direct connected it with an aftermarket usb/aux adapter off of eBay which made the head unit work better with being less laggy from the steering wheel controls. I was only able to see my tire’s air pressure and speedometer levels. I could not see the air conditioner status turn up with the pioneer dmh-1500nex head unit. Have a good day!
What size is the whole screen bezle? What size is that opening
how's the pioneer holding up? i Just installed this model in my commuter yesterday
I need the contact information for the dude that did that box! I need two of those for my 12s lol those save so much space
Yo Kyle, dude that setup is sweet..yo so I upgraded the kicker speakers in the doors..u know..not enough. But dude where the hell did you find that woofer, because when I looked around for the woofers that are specifically for our cars, the ones that mount in the back nicely like the one you have oh, I couldn't find it and anything I could find said it was discontinued, where the heck did you find that stuff man, because I'm looking to get my next mod oh, I just did a new carbon-fiber spoiler, I thought the kicker speakers upgrade would be enough but it just isn't man and I paid 300 bucks for the whole thing, the tweeters and the four door speakers. BTW I dropped a comment on one of your other videos, I just subscribed recently, I wanted to show my support for the channel in the future, so if you guys are going to do any contest or anything in the future oh, I have some parts that I could donate, I got some OEM tail lights that I was thinking about wrapping oh, they're an extra set because I upgraded my tails, anyway love what you guys are doing oh, I love to show you guys my wrx build one of these days..I have a 17' limited in crystal black silica. .Metallic

Hey man. You spoke about adjusting the steering wheel controls. You can do that after everything is installed or do you have take the stereo out again? There's in interface in the stereo itself to do that?
Also what was the Android stereo you spoke of?
Same question
Anyone have an issue with the instal. ??? Everything worked then hd radio stopped working. Bluetooth still works with music but when this head unit is plugged in, my door ajar light stays on. Anyone?
Does the lack of physical buttons bother you in this unit? Also, while it's booting up, will it show the cam view when you put the car in reverse? Usually when I get in my car, I am out reversing within the first few seconds. A 10 sec boot up wait to reverse would suck.
I use the steering wheel controls so the no buttons doesn’t effect me and I usually do the same and it will switch to the reverse cam very quick. Enough time to turn on plug in my phone drop e brake and put into reverse and the camera is on
Where did you get the enclosure for the sub?? I got a 12” n need one ASAP
Got it custom made. Few places make them still if you google sub enclosure wrx
where did you get the dash/trim replacement so the unit fits in nice? thanks
On Crutchfield when you order it it comes with it. It’s a dash kit.
WRXGarage thanks
Does it have a Separate microphone and usb plug like the idoing headunits?
Yes and yes
I have Harmon kardon, should I add this just for car play?
It’s definitely worth it
Hello, how about adjusting the volume just from the unit itself? Is it pretty quick and responsive, does it show a slider bar by any chance to quickly adjust it (so you dont have to press it really fast). Hows the glare on it during the day? And is it very bright at night, is that adjustable?? Thanks, sorry for a bunch of questions.
Yes it is very responsive! It does show a slider bar after pressing the button. Glare during the day is fine, just crank the brightness up all the way. Even halfway up is fine. As for night, all you have to do is download a screen dimmer app and turn that on at night manually so you can make it as dim as you'd like.
Oh wait, sorry didn't realize this was a question about the pioneer.
...well, the 2019/20 base 6.5" Starlink sucks too. Possibly even the premium 7" isn't much better. The 6.5" is over bass boosted and that destroys the clarity/quality. I don't use 90% of the apps on the starlink hu and use AA 50% of the time. I do like my siriusxm.
Nice to see pioneer provide a great OE looking solution.
Hey man where did you get yours from? Specifically your dash kit, mine came with one with silver around ac knob buttons
On crutchfield I paid more for an all black version
@@WRXGarage crutch is the best 🥰
where do you plug in the phone for carplay? I had mine I stalled and the original usb port doesn’t work anymore on my 15 sti
You need to use the included usb plug!
@@WRXGarage turns out i’m an idiot and they put it in the glove box! works great lol
Is it possible to dim the button lights so they aren't on when every other light is off in the interior?
When your lights are on they auto dim and you can manually turn the Britney’s up for down in settings
@@WRXGarage I have an older pioneer and the screen dims but the buttons for volume and everything is set to red and it looks out of place when its daytime because my oem buttons in the car turn white when there is light. I hope the 2660nex will resolve that issue.
Are the speakers stock?
Rock some crescendo audio or skar silk tweeters. Very small
Yo man I just installed this head unit and can you explain how to get apple carplay
Plug your phone in via USB and then press the zlink app!
The backup up camera - is that aftermarket or factory? And do the trajectory guidelines work?
Factory and they have the option to turn them on but there not perfect so I leave it off and back up normally
can you play MP3's from your phone while using carplay or android auto at the same time? I'm looking to buy this and I do a lot of traveling and I use google maps but I also wan to listen to my music while I drive... Do I need a unit with dual usb for that?
I'm not exactly sure if you can while connected to android auto.. I can try later today and let you know.
I'd suggest buying spotify premium!! Seamless connection to the headunit, doesn't use data, no adds.
@@WRXGarage Thats a thought. thanks
Pulled the trigger... will install next week if weather permits
Obviously the sound quality is a lot better with the aftermarket head unit, but could it be further improved with a 5 channel amp? Thinking of doing a 5 channel but it’s definitely a little pricey...
Yeah it could and I always have that option down the road if I want to
An active dsp (e.g. LC2i, LC7i) can also be huge help with the stock hu.
How did you get the steering wheel buttons to work without the maestro?
You need the maestro for the steering wheel controls
For some reason I comprehended it as you didn’t have it, not that you got the SW instead of the RR.
Thanks though!
can you listen to the radio during carplay?
No unless you have a radio app on your phone or I heart radio
Does the stock Bluetooth for phone calls work?
Yes!
Where are you guys located I have an extra set of kicker tweeters, I could let them go for like 40 to 50 bucks, if you guys are interested
Dm us on Instagram please
Can it get sirois xm or whatever its called
Yes you can either on your phone with the app or buying the adapter that plugs into the back of the unit
I need to do this on my 2016. The speakers (6) are swapped which helped, but the stock headunit is complete trash.
Yeah the stock headunit is the 100% of the problem.
How do you use ALEXA?
Will this work with harmon kardon sound system?
There's a specific model that is designed for the Harmon kardon! This one is different
@@WRXGarage would you happen to know what that would be?
Did you guys do a brake by-pass?
Yes I got the one off amazon.
@@WRXGarage I see, thanks! Was considering to get this from crutchfield but saw some reviews that the by-pass module from amazon does not work with the DMHs.
How's this head unit been holding up? Is it worth 350? Anything you don't like about it?
Holding up great no issues, definitely worth the 350, only thing I don’t like is that I waited so long to do it
@@WRXGarage cool was thinking about getting this for my 2016 Ford Fusion. You got me sold on it. Thanks for the quick reply.
Just get the harness I mention in the video makes installation a breeze
Where you able to retain the factory usb in the center console?
I don't use it so I'd have to check!
12:15 el oh el
👍
I can't stand the bluetooth... I have to stop the car and pull my parking brake and disconnect my phone and re pair it a lot its so irritating cause I need music!!
I have the kicker cxa800.1 I hate It. no subsonic frequencies ugh It blows big time
It might not be the amp that's the issue, you could have the wrong settings on your high/lowpass filters or your gain!
Additionally, are you sure you have the source signal audio going into the amp coming from the right place?
@@WRXGarage well its hooked to the stock head unit with a line out but even when I hooked it to the kenwood deck in my truck the cxa amps have a -24db drop off at 25hz. I totally hate it. My JL jx500.1 blows it away completely and is like 100+ less power. I use a distortion detector to set my gain. and line outs on the rear.
Below 25hz is below the range of human hearing, aka subsonic. Most subwoofers aren't designed to go that low anyways so the -24db filter pulls those frequencies out because 1. You literally can't hear them anyways and 2. They'll damage the speaker over time.
Sounds to me like either the signal from the stock headunit is pulling out the wrong frequencies, or you have your crossovers dialed incorrectly. Could also just be a bad unit!
@@WRXGarage I got the kicker set at like 100hz lpf but yea It mite be the wrx head unit just sends an irratic signal to the amp im pulling the head unit next cant decide on the android dasata or go the pioneer mastro route
